A sports delegation of the People's Republic of China headed by Gou Zhongwen, minister of the General Administration of Sports, arrived here on Monday to pay a goodwill visit to the DPRK at the invitation of the DPRK Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports.
The delegation consists of man and woman basketball teams headed by Yao Ming, president of the Chinese Basketball Association.
It was greeted at Pyongyang International Airport by Kim Il Guk, minister of Physical Culture and Sports, Ri Chang Gun, vice department director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, officials concerned and Li Jinjun, Chinese ambassador to the DPRK, and staff members of his embassy.
DPRK sportspersons warmly welcomed the sports missions of the Chinese people, presenting bouquets to leading members of the delegation.
The goodwill visit to the DPRK by the Chinese sports delegation at a time when the DPRK-China friendly relations are developing on a new high stage will contribute to strengthening exchange and cooperation in the sports field of the two countries and deepening fraternal friendship between the peoples of the DPRK and China.
