The second premier of British Columbia is also one of the most famous premiers the province ever had. Calling himself Lover of the Universe, Amor De Cosmos was a major reason that British Columbia joined Confederation. A commoner who is credited with inventing the spy thriller literary genre, he would be appointed to the peerage so he could serve as the Governor General.
