2021年2月，德國慕尼黑正遭逢Covid-19的嚴峻考驗，當時在土耳其畢爾肯大學教建築史的裘振宇，在慕尼黑以跨洋工作的方式，與臺灣策展團隊溝通，在慕尼黑的建築博物館推出有史以來最大、以臺灣為名的建築展，展出一百多個臺灣案例。這些案例有別於一般建築展中、強調高大上或聚焦建築師個人美學的作品，反倒是以社區營造、為世界公民而建為主題，將臺灣所面臨的社會問題帶到國際，展現了台灣常民空間的生命力。
本片聚焦三個案例，看南投桃米社區如何從貧困農村蛻變成生機盎然的生態村；台中楓樹社區如何因應都市化房地產炒作的危機，守護農田和公共空間，來凝聚社區意識；土耳其臺灣雷伊漢勒世界公民中心，怎麼讓難民媽媽們生產手工物品來維持生計。這些從公共空間而生的地方力量，回應建築的最終目的—創造生命的平等、品質和永續。
In February, 2021, Munich, Germany was met with severe challenges due to COVID-19. Mr. Chen-Yu Chiu, a faculty member teaching Architecture History at Bilkent University in Turkey, worked closely together with the curatorial team in Taiwan while he was based in Munich. He curated the biggest-ever Taiwan-themed architecture exhibition showcasing more than 100 cases at Architekturmuseum der TUM (A.M.) in Munich. These cases are different from conventional architecture exhibitions which normally focus more on personal aesthetic taste of an architect or showcase artworks with higher levels of class. Instead, they feature community building and the social role of buildings for world citizens. The exhibition aims at sharing experiences on the social issues Taiwan is facing and manifests the spirit of ordinary people in Taiwan.
The film focuses on 3 cases: the transformation of the Taomi Community in Nantou from a poor farming village to an ecovillage full of life, the effort the Maple Community in Taichung has put in to protect the farmland and public spaces and consolidate community awareness in response to challenges stemming from urbanization and real estate speculation, the program the Taiwan-Reyhanli Centre for World Citizens in Turkey set up for refugee women to make handicrafts for a living. The power of local communities derived from public spaces resonates with the ultimate goal of architecture – enabling people to create quality, equality and sustainability of life.
