Heaven Official's Blessing ch 125-129
Hua Cheng is strongly affected by the opening of Mount Tong’lu, and Xie Lian is forced to suck his excess spiritual energy out to help calm him down. During the chaos, Qi Rong runs away with Guzi and threatens to send Hua Cheng’s enemies after him now that he is weak. The next day Hua Cheng can’t remember what happened, and Xie Lian lies that they fought until he calmed down. They decide to part ways for the time being to focus on dealing with Mount Tonglu. In heaven, Jun Wu assigns a task to Xie Lian and Quan Yizhen to capture the escaped Brocade Immortal. Xie Lian returns to Puqi Shrine and buys an old robe for Lang Ying on his way home. Xie Lian, Lang Ying, and Quan Yizhen are resting in the shrine when an old woman knocks on the door.

Heaven Official's Blessing ch 122-124
It is revealed that Earth Master Ming Yi is actually the Supreme Ghost King, Black Water Demon He Xuan! Shi Wudu and Shi Qingxuan are captured by him, in revenge for stealing his fate. He was supposed to have become a heavenly official hundreds of years ago, but instead he was given a fate of suffering and misfortune. He offers Shi Qingxuan a way to live, if he kills his own brother. Shi Qingxuan can’t do it. However, Shi Wudu tries to kill Shi Qingxuan in a murder-suicide, deciding that both of them dying is better than following He Xuan’s revenge. He Xuan then rips off Shi Wudu’s head. Shi Qingxuan goes crazy with anguish. The entire scene is witnessed by Xie Lian, hiding in Shi Qingxuan’s body with the soul shifting spell. But Hua Cheng pulls him out of the spell back to his own body by sucking his spiritual energy out of his mouth.

Heaven Official's Blessing ch 118-121
Shi Wudu is facing his third heavenly calamity, and Shi QingXuan decides to go to him to help. Xie Lian is about to give them space, when Ling Wen announces that 200 fishermen got trapped in the calamity. Xie Lian has no choice but to go and help, and Hua Cheng accompanies him. During the Calamity, the group all drift to Black Water’s lair, and their ship sinks. Xie Lian and Hua Cheng find themselves on a deserted island and build a coffin boat to escape. Unfortunately, their boat doesn't get far and they end up back on shore. They run into Pei Ming and Shi WuDu, and they all go looking for Shi QingXuan. They end up at a magical lake, where Xie Lian can see a hidden building in the lake’s reflection. But just then a shadow approaches behind him.

Heaven Official's Blessing ch 114-117
Xie Lian goes to the heavenly court to visit Shi QingXuan, only to find that he has been tied to his bed by Shi Wudu. Xie Lian and Ming Yi help him escape using Ming Yi’s heavenly shovel. They run to the Rain Master’s domain, and Xie Lian learns the truth behind Shi Qingxuan’s ascension. Shi Wudu used an evil spell to switch the fate of his brother and another person named He Sheng. Shi Qingxuan was able to ascend, while He Sheng became a resentful ghost that devoured the Reverend of Empty Words and absorbed his abilities. Pei Ming has pursued the group to the rain master’s domain, but the ox-man stops him from entering.

Heaven Official's Blessing ch 110-113
Xie Lian and Ming Yi find Shi Qingxuan unconscious at the pavilion. The three tumors arrive on a golden carriage and Shi WuDu immediately rushes to Shi Qingxuan’s side. However, when Shi Qingxuan wakes up, he goes crazy and pushes Shi WuDu away, screaming in agony. Shi WuDu is alarmed and forces him to go unconscious so that he can take him back to heaven for treatment. Xie Lian wants to help, but he doesn’t know what to do, so he leaves to look for Hua Cheng. Hua Cheng sends a golden sedan to pick him up. They ride together as they chat, and Hua Cheng warns Xie Lian to stop looking into the incident with Shi Qingxuan.

Heaven Official's Blessing Ch 105-109
Xie Lian, Hua Cheng, Shi Qingxuan, and Ming Yi are transported to the city of Fugu by the Reverend of Empty Words. There, they witness a Bloody Fire Social, that is celebrating the Scholar He Sheng who murdered a group of evil townspeople after a life of unfair injustice. Xie Lian suspects Ming Yi of being the Reverend in disguise, and comes up with a game to test him. Ming Yi, however, passes the test and is discovered to be innocent. They are about to discuss what to do next, when a group of villagers storm the temple during the night parade. During the chaos, Shi QingXuan, who is temporarily blind and deaf, is kidnapped!

Heaven Official's Blessing ch 100-104
The heavenly officials can’t figure out who the father of the fetus spirit is, and so their meeting is dismissed. Xie Lian goes back to Puqi shrine to find Hua Cheng there paying a visit! He cooks them dinner, but his terrible cooking creates a poisonous soup that makes Qi Rong sick. Hua Cheng, however, eats the soup happily and praises Xie Lian’s cooking. The next day, Shi QingXuan and Ming Yi pay Xie Lian a visit to ask for his help with a ghost called the Reverend of Empty Words.

Heaven Official's Blessing ch 93-99
Xie Lian gets entangled fighting a fetus spirit ghost, until Hua Cheng saves him and takes him back to ghost city. They enjoy a night out, eating dinner together and writing poetry in the Qiandeng Temple, until the ghosts shout out that paradise manor is on fire! Xie Lian and Hua Cheng find out that the fetus spirit was stolen during the fire, and that the person who stole it was Lan Chang, who is the mother of the fetus spirit. Xie Lian also finds out that the father of the fetus is a heavenly official, and takes Lan Chang to heaven to find out who the father is. Unexpectedly, Lan Chang accuses Xie Lian of being the father!

Heaven Official's Blessing Ch 89-92 deepdive
Xie Lian takes Qi Rong and Guzi back to his shrine to try and get Qi Rong out of the human’s body, but Qi Rong refuses to leave. Later, he returns to heaven for the Mid Autumn Festival. At the festival, he meets the god of the West Quan Yi Zhen, who is known for beating up his own followers. Afterwards, the Battle of the Lanterns begins, where Xie Lian wins first place with 3,000 lanterns lit by Hua Cheng. He returns to the mortal realm with Lang Ying.

Heaven Official's Blessing Ch 84-88 Deepdive
The human face disease spreads throughout Xian Le capital, and Xie Lian figures out the cure, but the cure is so horrifying that he can’t let anyone know. Xie Lian loses faith in himself and his powers are strained, as he continues to lose against the yong’an army and unsuccessfully tries to contain the spread of the disease. Finally, the people of Xian Le turn their backs on Xie Lian and burn all his temples and desecrate all his statues, and Xie Lian is summoned back to heaven. But one young devoted follower vows to remember Xie Lian forever, and worship him as his one true god. That’s the end of book 2.

Heaven Official's Blessing Ch 76-83 deepdive
After an incident where a Yong'An family is brutally killed, a war breaks out. Xie Lian decides to descend from heaven in order to help the Xian Le royal army push back the Yong’An refugees. However, Xie Lian is lured into a trap and is confronted by Lang Ying, the leader of the Yong’An army, and a mysterious ghost wearing funeral robes and a laughing crying mask. A young soldier arrives to save Xie Lian, but they are trapped inside a cave when Xie Lian gets poisoned by the Land of the Tender Demon. Feng Xin and Mu Qing luckily arrive in time to save them. After a few days of rest, Xie Lian decides to go to the capital for a break, and bumps into the young soldier again. As they talk, a tall man screams running towards them.

Heaven Official's Blessing Ch 69-75 deepdive
Xie Lian learns that his kingdom is facing a drought, and that the people of Yong’An are escaping their dying city to go to Xian Le capital as refugees. Tensions rise between the two sides as resources grow low. One of the Yong’An refugees, Lang Ying, loses his son and wife from the drought and travels to Xian Le for help, only to be turned away by the royal family and humiliated by the capitol citizens. Xie Lian borrows a rain hat from the rain god, but it doesn’t create enough rain to stop the drought. Things get worse and worse as more refugees enter the city until finally the king orders all the refugees to leave and declares that the capital gates will be closed.

Heaven Official's Blessing Ch 62-68 deepdive
Xie Lian, Mu Qing, and Feng Xin descend the mountain to visit their families. While visiting Mu Qing’s home, they see Qi Rong driving wildly down the street dragging a bloody sack on the floor. Xie Lian stops him and unties the sack, finding a small bloody child inside. Xie Lian orders Feng Xin to arrest Qi Rong, but Feng Xin accidentally breaks his arm. Xie Lian takes everyone to the palace infirmary. There, the king orders Feng Xin to break his own arm to repent. Xie Lian thinks that this is unfair, but Feng Xin does it anyway. They decide to take the injured child back up the mountain with them, but he somehow causes the sealed ghosts to get unleashed. The guoshi says that the child is born under a star of misfortune. Xie Lian leaves the mountain to train on his own, and during his travels ascends to a god.

Heaven Official's Blessing Ch55-61 deepdive
Hua Cheng leaves Qi Rong’s cave so that Xie Lian, Shi QingXuan and Feng Xin can report back to heaven. Jun Wu tells Xie Lian that he sent a spy to the ghost realm because Hua Cheng has a spy in heaven. Xie Lian decides to visit his parent’s coffins to pay his respects, but is ambushed by Qi Rong who was waiting for him and had desecrated his mother’s body. Xie Lian is anguished, beating up Qi Rong, and he raises his sword about to strike it down. We leave that cliffhanger to enter Book 2, which is set in the past. Xie Lian is 17, performing in a parade, when he saves a bandaged child that fell from a tower. Mu Qing and Feng Xin, also 17, are his personal attendant and bodyguard. Mu Qing believes that Feng Xin is accusing him of stealing a missing red pearl earring, so has run away, leaving Xie Lian and Feng Xin running after him.

Heaven Official's Blessing Ch 49-54 deepdive
Hua Cheng confronts Qi Rong and it is revealed that Qi Rong is actually Xie Lian’s cousin, and that Qi Rong and Prince An Le are the true culprits behind the gilded banquet that massacred all the Yong An royals. Lang QianQiu falls into despair after learning the truth, having been betrayed by his best friend, and lied to by his guoshi. Xie Lian is devastated because he wanted to take the blame and keep Lang QianQiu innocent and optimistic. Lang QianQiu tortures and kills Qi Rong, but it turns out it was only a clone, so Lang QianQiu vows to find and kill him. Xie Lian and Hua Cheng are talking about whether or not it was better to reveal the truth, when Shi Qing Xuan and Feng Xin suddenly arrive.

Heaven Official's Blessing Ch 44-48 deepdive
Shi Qing Xuan and Xie Lian discover that Ming Yi, the Earth God, was imprisoned by Hua Cheng because Hua Cheng found out he was sent by heaven as a spy for the last 10 years. Lang QianQiu comes to rescue them and fight Hua Cheng, but Xie Lian stops the fight, and starts a small fire to cause a distraction to run away. Shi Qing Xuan uses his wind to blow them outside, but inadvertently makes the fire worse, burning Hua Cheng’s whole manor down. They return to heaven, and Lang QianQiu realizes that Xie Lian is actually the guoshi Fang Xin who murdered his entire family several hundred years ago. Xie Lian is placed in house arrest, and Mu Qing and Feng Xin come to check on him, when Hua Cheng suddenly appears and kidnaps Xie Lian away. Lang QianQiu follows after Xie Lian, and challenges him to a duel. Xie Lian accepts, but fights dirty to restrain Lang QianQiu, leaving him tied up on the floor.

Heaven Official's Blessing Ch 39-43 deepdive
Xie Lian sees the bandaged boy getting bullied by ghosts and interferes to save him. The boy runs away, and Xie Lian chases him, only to get invited by the Waning Moon officer to Hua Cheng’s paradise manor. Hua Cheng helps him find the boy and offers Xie Lian an armory of weapons. Shi Qingxuan sneaks into the manor and together with Xie Lian, they snoop around the manor for clues of the missing Heavenly Official. They find a secret door that teleports them into multiple dangerous situations until they finally find the correct door that leads them down a dark staircase, where they find a mysterious man.

Xie Lian and Shi QingXuan travel into ghost city and end up at the gambling house. There they witness a human man betting his daughter’s life in order to kill his enemies. Unable to stand for this injustice, the god Lang QianQiu interferes with the game and gets himself caught by the lord of Ghost City: Hua Cheng. Xie Lian offers to win Lang QianQiu’s freedom in a game of dice. There is a lot of dice cup flirting. Xie Lian eventually wins, and the three gods leave to figure out a plan. As they’re talking they suddenly hear a desperate scream.

Heaven Official's Blessing Ch 30-34 deepdive
Xie Lian and San Lang talk more in Puqi Shrine as they lie in bed, and they talk about their pasts. San Lang leaves the next day, leaving behind a diamond ring as a gift to Xie Lian. After a few days of rest, Ling Wen summons Xie Lian back to heaven for a meeting at the great martial hall, where Xie Lian meets the crown prince of Yong’An Lang QianQiu. Pei Su is also put on trial and exiled, and Jun Wu has a new secret assignment for Xie Lian. He is told to infiltrate Ghost City with Lang QianQiu and the Wind God.

We learned about the truth of the fall of Banyue, and that Pei Su (the god Pei Ming’s descendent) is the true culprit behind the Banyue pass disappearances. The Banyue general ghost Ke Mo and Pei Su are apprehended and taken to heaven for judgment by the Wind God, and Xie Lian and San Lang return home to Puqi shrine. As they are getting ready for dinner, Xie Lian reveals that he has learned San Lang’s true identity: Hua Cheng.
