The Schenecker double homicide occurred on January 28, 2011; Calyx and Beau Schenecker were found dead by police at their home in Tampa, Florida. Their mother, Julie Powers Schenecker, was arrested on suspicion of their murder after an alleged confession.

On January 29, Schenecker was admitted to Tampa General Hospital, but was released the next day. She was charged with two counts of first degree murder and indicted by grand jury on February 9. Seven days later she entered a plea of not guilty, with her legal team indicating they would pursue a defense of the grounds of insanity.

Parker Schenecker divorced his wife in May 2011 and subsequently filed a civil lawsuit for wrongful deaths, following dispute over distribution of the family's assets.

Julie Powers Schenecker, (born January 13, 1961, from Muscatine, Iowa) lived in Tampa, Florida with her husband, U.S. Army Colonel Parker Schenecker, and their two children. The couple met in Germany during the 1980s, where Julie Powers was working as a Russian linguist.

Their daughter, Calyx, was 16 and son, Beau, was 13 at the time of their deaths. According to the New York Daily News, the children were described as "cheerful and seemingly happy."

Previous investigation

Police visited the Schenecker home November 6, 2010, to investigate an allegation of child abuse made by Calyx. No charges were filed against Schenecker but, according to the police report, Schenecker acknowledged that she had hit her daughter. Calyx told a counselor in a weekly meeting that her mother had hit her in the face when they were heading home from cross-country practice November 2, 2010, according to the police report. Investigators that visited the home said there were no visible injuries on Calyx when the report was filed four days later. Calyx had told investigators that Schenecker had "hit her with an open hand on her face for approximately 30 seconds," according to the report.

Murder

On January 28, 2011, police visited the property after receiving a call from Schenecker's mother, who expressed concern at not being able to reach her daughter. Officers found Beau Schenecker in a sport utility vehicle in the garage and Calyx Schenecker in her bedroom; both had been shot by a .38 revolver and covered in blankets. Julie Schenecker was found unconscious on the rear porch covered in blood.

Police stated that Schenecker admitted to killing her children because they "talked back and were mouthy". A police statement said, "She described the crimes in detail." A note was allegedly found in the house describing a plan to murder her children and commit suicide.

According to the arrest affidavit, Beau was shot twice in the head on January 27 while being driven by his mother from soccer practice. Schenecker then drove home and killed Calyx in her room as she was doing her homework on her computer. The revolver had been purchased five days before the killings. Calyx was found on her bed covered by a blanket.

Criminal trial

Police arrested Julie Schenecker at the scene, later that day she was admitted to hospital for a "pre-existing medical condition". She was released the next day and taken to Hillsborough County Jail, where she is being held without bail. On February 9, 2011, Schenecker was indicted by a grand jury for first degree murder. Her arraignment was set for February 16, where she entered a plea of not guilty, with her defence team indicating they would pursue an insanity defense. Prosecutors have said they will seek the death penalty for Schenecker.

An adolescent prank gone horribly wrong. A cold-blooded crime that nearly resulted in murder.

Defence lawyers and state prosecutors took turns in Broward County Criminal Court, Florida on Tuesday casting their own interpretations on the burning of Michael Brewer in a Deerfield Beach apartment complex in 2009.

Jurors were assembled for the opening day of trial for Matthew "Zeke" Bent, 17, the last remaining defendant in the notorious case that generated international headlines, and unleashed an outpouring of sympathy for the Brewer family.

Bent is charged with attempted second-degree murder with a weapon, accused of encouraging a friend, Denver Jarvis, to pour rubbing alcohol on Brewer.

A second boy, Jesus Mendez, then flicked a lighter and set Brewer ablaze, causing second- and third-degree burns over 65 per cent of Brewer's body.

Jarvis, 17, and Mendez, 18, have pleaded guilty to their roles in the crime. Jarvis was sentenced to eight years in prison, followed by 21 years of probation. Mendez received an 11-year prison term, one year of house arrest and 18 years of probation.

Bent decided in February to take his case to a jury trial. If he is found guilty of orchestrating the crime, he could face as much as 30 years in prison.

Perry Thurston, Bent's lead defense attorney, told jurors that the boys just wanted to play a prank on Brewer. They never meant for things to go so far.


"Nobody intended for Michael Brewer to get burned," Thurston said. "There was no plan. There was no plot. There was no sophisticated scheme."

But Maria Schneider, the assistant state attorney prosecuting the case, countered that Bent knew exactly what he was doing when he ordered a friend to douse Brewer with rubbing alcohol.

"Matthew Bent set in motion a series of events, knowing he was acting recklessly ... that led to Michael Brewer being set on fire and almost killed," she said.

Brewer, who saved his own life by jumping into a pool, was flown to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, where he underwent seven skin grafts and three throat surgeries during a five-month stay.

And while he appears healthy and recovered, Brewer, 17, still undergoes therapy to soften the thick scar tissue that limits his mobility and tears easily.

Seven witnesses testified on Tuesday, including Valerie Brewer, who provided perhaps the most compelling testimony of the day.

She described the horrible feeling of receiving a call from the Broward Sheriff's Office on October 12, 2009 - one day after Michael's 15th birthday - telling her that her son had been set on fire.

She watched from her front yard as a trauma helicopter flew Michael to the hospital, she said, and described seeing him for the first time more than 12 hours after the attack.

"I walk into the emergency room. He's laying on a gurney. He's got blisters all over him," she said. Then she broke down in tears before gathering her composure.

Valerie Brewer said her son still suffers "night terrors" from the attack.

"On a weekly basis, he wakes up screaming in the middle of the night that he's on fire," she said.

Prosecutors allege Bent was angry with Brewer over a $40 debt for a video game and because Brewer's parents had Bent arrested on October 11, 2009, for attempting to steal a bicycle from the screened front porch of the family home.

Johnny McCray Jr., Bent's second defence attorney, said his client was going to borrow the bike and never intended to steal it.

However, the alleged theft was followed by a tense confrontation between Bent and Brewer's father, who is also named Michael.

Michael Brewer Sr. testified that he went looking for Bent after hearing about the attempted theft. He said he found Bent a few blocks away, told him to stay away from the house, and then uttered a racial epithet at the boy as he drove away.

About 15 minutes later, the elder Brewer testified, Jarvis knocked on the door of the Brewers' home, with Bent standing in the street pulling at his shirt and yelling for Michael Brewer Sr. to come out and fight.

The Brewers called police and pressed charges against Bent.

The attack on Michael Brewer occurred the following day in the parking lot of an apartment complex near Deerfield Beach Middle School, where all the boys attended.

Calvin Kenny, 17, was with the group of boys when the attack occurred. He testified Tuesday that he overheard Bent telling Jarvis to pour a bottle of rubbing alcohol, which the boys had just found, on Brewer.

"He said pour it on him to mess with him," Kenny said.

Kenny added that he also saw Bent motion to Jarvis to pour the rubbing alcohol on Brewer, who had his back to Jarvis. But Kenny did not see Mendez flick the lighter. He said he only the felt the heat of the flame, and then saw Brewer run away screaming.

Leslie Nielsen, who was living in the apartment complex at the time, said she saw Brewer engulfed in flames "from head to toe."

Nielsen ran to the pool after Brewer, she said, and "He reached out his hands, and his skin came off."

Nielsen's boyfriend then jumped in the pool, she said, and pushed Brewer up a ladder by the seat of the boy's shorts. She said she saw Brewer take a lighter out of his pocket and toss it behind him.

Prosecutors played a recording of Nielsen's 911 call, in which Brewer is heard screaming in agony in the background.

"Please help me," he screams.

The trial resumes on Wednesday, when Jarvis and Mendez are scheduled to testify. Jarvis and Mendez never struck a deal with prosecutors, though, and their sentences did not depend on a promise to testify against Bent.

FORT LAUDERDALE (CBSMiami) – "I was barely close to him and it lit," described a teenager at the center of one of South Florida's most horrific crimes, the burning of Michael Brewer.

Those were the words of Jesus Mendez as he spoke to BSO investigators in October 2009 when Michael Brewer, now 17, was doused with rubbing alcohol and set on fire.

Responding to a public records request, the Broward State Attorney's Office released Mendez' videotaped police interrogation.

During the interrogation, Mendez laid out to investigators exactly how the crime unfolded.

"D.C. poured the stuff on him and we lit him, that's basically it," said a remorseful Mendez.

"D.C." is the nickname for suspect Denver Jarvis who poured rubbing alcohol on Brewer before Mendez set him on fire.

"Okay, who had the lighter," said the detective in the video.

"I did, I was barely close to him and it just lit and the lighter blew up in my hand kind of," said Mendez.

The detective replied, "And that's why you are missing hair on your right arm isn't it?"

"I was, like, the last one to run. Everybody ran before me. I was trying to think, should I help or should I just run. And I didn't know, so…"

When the detective asked Mendez what Brewer did when he realized he was on fire, Mendez replied, "First thing he did was he took off his t-shirt. We all ran and D.C. said he jumped into a pool."

The pool saved Brewer's life but he suffered second- and third-degree burns over two-thirds of his body.

Mendez also said Matthew Bent, whose nickname is Zeke, was responsible for coming up with the idea to confront Brewer after finding a bottle of rubbing alcohol on the way home from Deerfield Beach Middle School where all the teens attended including Brewer.

"That's when Zeke was like, 'Come on, let's go find Michael and we'll pour it on him,'" Mendez said. He described how the boys confronted Brewer and how Jarvis, following Bent's orders, poured the alcohol on Brewer.

Mendez confessed to pulling out a lighter and flicking it enough for a spark to ignite the rubbing alcohol.

Inside The Murderous Love Life Of Kelly Cochran, The ‘Devil Woman’ Of Michigan

Kelly Cochran is now behind bars for killing and dismembering both her lover and her husband — but friends say she’s a serial killer who’s left even more bodies in her wake.

When Kelly Cochran’s husband found out about her affair, he asked her a simple question that had unimaginably gruesome consequences: How would she make up for it?

Jason Cochran was satisfied with the answer. He would forgive his wife of 13 years if she lured her lover to their house with the promise of sex — and then allowed her jealous husband to blow the lover’s brains out.

Kelly Cochran’s co-worker and fling, Christopher Regan, was fatally caught off guard. He was mid-coitus when Jason Cochran emerged from the shadows to execute him at point-blank range with a .22 rifle. Moments later, Kelly Cochran was handing her husband a buzz saw with which to dismember him.

Little did Jason know that he would be next. Kelly grew resentful of the 2014 incident and later killed him with a heroin overdose to “even the score” in 2016. When holes in her story led to her arrest, she claimed Regan’s murder was borne out of a lethal marital pact.

This is the grisly story of Kelly Cochran.

Kelly Cochran’s Deadly Marriage
Born and raised in Merrillville, Indiana, Kelly and Jason Cochran were high school sweethearts and grew up next door to each other. They were so enamored with each other that they were married after Kelly Cochran graduated from high school in 2002 — and made a lifelong promise to kill anyone who they might cheat with.

Jason Cochran worked hard servicing swimming pools until his back gave out after 10 years of physical labor. While his wife tried hard to pay the bills, the debts kept piling up. The couple bailed on the situation for Caspian, Michigan, in 2013, also looking forward to legal marijuana, which would help ease Jason’s chronic pain.

Kelly Cochran met Christopher Regan at a factory job manufacturing Naval ship parts. An Air Force veteran and Detroit native, he and Cochran bonded and became lovers despite their 20-year age difference. Through his relationship with Cochran, Regan was also cheating on his girlfriend, Terri O’Donnell. They finally agreed to patch things up — the day that he died.

On Oct. 14, 2014, Regan planned to spend the night with Cochran — unaware she had spent the previous night arguing with her husband about him. Knowing it meant her lover’s death, Cochran invited him over and had sex with him as her husband shot him in the head. Neighbors heard a shot — then power tools.

O’Donnell reported Regan missing 10 days later, but the Cochrans had already dumped his remains in the woods. While they parked his car on the outskirts of town, they failed to notice a post-it note with directions to their house inside. Police were more observant and found the car, the note inside — and their suspects.

Police paid Kelly and Jason Cochran a visit, finding the former entirely at ease and the latter uncomfortable. They later questioned them separately. Kelly admitted to having an affair with Regan, but claimed she and her husband had an open marriage. Jason, meanwhile, appeared rather aggravated at her infidelity.

While the Cochrans had managed to remove all evidence of their crimes and the case went cold, an FBI search of their home in March 2015 prompted the terrified couple to leave town for Hobart, Indiana. It was there, on Feb. 20, 2016, that suspicions got the better of the couple — and Cochran murdered her husband

Kelly Cochran Gets Caught
When EMTs arrived at the Mississippi Street residence, they found Jason Cochran unresponsive, and Kelly was reportedly disruptive as they attempted to revive him. The EMTs declared Cochran’s husband dead of an overdose — unaware that she had deliberately overloaded his heroin fix, then smothered him for good measure.

Cochran held a memorial service days later, claiming it was “the hardest thing I will ever have to deal with” online while pawning off her belongings. She fled Indiana on April 26 without notifying relatives, and when the Hobart Medical Examiner realized Jason died of asphyxiation, she became a fugitive.

With probable cause, authorities charged her with murder, home invasion, conspiracy to commit bodies — disinterment and mutilation, concealing the death of an individual, lying to a police officer, and accessory to murder after the fact. Even though she was on the run, Cochran unwisely kept in touch with investigators via text.

Her messages claimed she was hiding out on the West Coast in an attempt to throw police off-course. However, they simply tracked her phone to Wingo, Kentucky — where U.S. Marshals arrested her on April 29. Finally, Cochran pointed cops to Regan’s remains and the murder weapon.

Kelly Cochran’s trial revealed that “she contemplated killing Jason instead of Chris.” She felt that he had killed “the only good thing I had in my life,” adding, “I still hate him, and yes, it was revenge. I evened the score.” While serving a life sentence for Regan’s death, she earned another 65 years in April 2018 for killing her husband.

Police said she only told her spouse about Regan when he declined a serious relationship, as the diabolical pact would ensure his death.

Ultimately, the full extent of Kelly Cochran’s crimes only began to reveal themselves while she was in prison. Once news got out that the couple had dismembered Christopher Regan, friends and neighbors came to the stomach-churning revelation that they had very likely eaten Regan’s barbecued remains at a cookout hosted by Cochran.

Prosecutors also claimed that Cochran had boasted in interviews to killing several other people — and that she may well be a serial killer, with up to nine bodies buried across the midwest. Regardless, Kelly Cochran will spend the rest of her life behind bars.

Arrest made in stabbing death of pregnant Jacksonville woman


A 38-year-old Brentwood man has been arrested on a murder charge after his 29-year-old girlfriend, D’Anna Thorn, was stabbed and killed along with her unborn child Saturday night in the 100 block of West 21st Street, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

Armanuel Nathaniel Cummings of the same address was arrested just before midnight Sunday on the charge and remains behind bars without bail, according to Duval County jail records.

Officers were called to the West 21st Street home just before 6 p.m. Saturday after reports of someone stabbed. A woman was frantically waving at the first officer as he drove up. The officer found Thorn, five month’s pregnant, stabbed multiple times, police said. When the officer asked the woman who stabbed Thorn, Cummings, standing in the front yard speaking on a cellphone, said “I did,” according to his arrest report.

‘We just found a baby in the trash’: Hobbs teen faces attempted murder charges


HOBBS, N.M. (KRQE) – New details are emerging about a teen mother accused of throwing her newborn baby in the trash. Hobbs Police arrested 18-year-old Alexis Avila over the weekend for attempted murder.

At a press conference on Monday, Interim Police Chief August Fons says he’s never seen anything like this during his time in law enforcement. He explains why Avila was released so soon after being taken into custody. “At the time the warrant was signed by the judge and the judge signed a $10,000 unsecured bond appearance bond and at that point, she was released about an hour later.”

A criminal complaint says Avila claimed she didn’t know she was pregnant until she went to a doctor for stomach pain last Thursday. Avila says she gave birth in her bathroom the next day.

She then reportedly told authorities that she panicked. She says she wrapped the baby boy in a towel, placed it in a trash bag, and drove around before eventually throwing the baby in a dumpster at the Broadmoor Shopping Center. The baby would spend six cold hours in the dumpster.

Three people who were dumpster diving found the baby after hearing a cry. They first thought it was a kitten when they picked up the bag.

Surveillance video captured the scene as a woman pulls the baby from the trash bag. The woman then tries to comfort the baby boy who can be heard in the 911 call. Police are then seen arriving at the scene.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office and other agencies arrested 160 people in a seven-day operation focused human trafficking in its area.

Reports of Active Shooter at IRS Building In Memphis



TENNESSEE – There were unconfirmed reports of a shooting at an IRS building in Memphis Thursday.

A large police response was seen at the facility — located at 5333 Getwell Road.

The Memphis police department later released a statement saying, ‘no incident has occurred that would cause harm to the public.’


“Be advised that we are experiencing several calls regarding various activities that are reportedly occurring within the City of Memphis. Officers are responding to every call; however, no incident has occurred that would cause harm to the public. If any incident is found to be true and could effect the public, we will advise.

URGENT: Memphis Police Looking For Men Seen In Video Vowing To Kill White People

MEMPHIS, TN – Memphis police officers Thursday night were frantically searching for a duo who posted a video online threatening to kill white people.

“On Thursday, September 8, 2022, the Memphis Police Department was advised of threats of violence directed at members of our community,” Memphis PD said in a statement. “These terroristic threats were posted on social media platforms and specific threats to events occurring in the City of Memphis.”

“The two suspects making the threats are described as two black males between the ages of 18 to 21 years of age. Investigators need assistance identifying the individuals in the video.”

“White folks fixin’ to not like black people,” the man says in the posting. “They’re fixin’ to be marching by the riverside, ‘White Lives Matter,’ he adds. “He already shot an old white man. I’m fixin’ to shoot a white old lady.”

The news comes a day after a man terrorized Memphis, fatally shooting 4 people while streaming parts of the crime spree on Facebook Live.

Queen Elizabeth II has died, Buckingham Palace announced on Thursday.

Britain's longest-reigning monarch passed away at the age of 96, after 70 years on the throne.

She is succeeded by her eldest son and heir, the Prince of Wales, who becomes King Charles III.

Her Majesty's death comes after one of the most significant periods of her reign, in which she rallied the nation during the coronavirus pandemic, and felt the affection of her people as she returned to public life after the death of her beloved Prince Philip and celebrated her Platinum Jubilee year.

The Queen was last pictured in public formally appointing the new Prime Minister, Liz Truss, at Balmoral on Tuesday. She postponed a virtual Privy Council meeting the following day after being advised by doctors to rest.

On Thursday, Buckingham Palace announced that she was under medical supervision at Balmoral after her doctors became "concerned" about her health.

The Queen had enjoyed remarkably good health until her mid-90s, where she scaled back her public appearances after suffering mobility problems and illness that required her to rest.

As she increasingly suffered from what Buckingham Palace described as "episodic mobility problems", she was compelled to miss events, including the State Opening of Parliament, service of Remembrance at the Cenotaph and the Commonwealth Day service. In February, she contracted Covid-19 amid an outbreak at Windsor Castle.

Through it all, she maintained her devotion to her constitutional duties and was regularly photographed holding meetings in person and via videolink from Windsor.

The announcement of her death marks the start of national mourning, with the Royal court to spend one month officially honouring her memory.

Across the country, union flags will be lowered, church services held, and condolence books offered for members of the public to pay their respects during the most seismic institutional change of most of their lifetimes.

Her Majesty's many admirers are expected to be welcomed to commemorate her life over the coming 10 days, during a lying in state at Westminster Hall, a funeral at Westminster Abbey and a spectacular ceremonial procession to her final resting place at St George's Chapel, Windsor.

Buckingham Palace will release official arrangements for the funeral in the coming days, after they have been signed off by the new King.

New era begins under King Charles
While the nation mourns the Queen, it will also mark the beginning of a new reign as a new era of monarchy begins under King Charles.

The Accession Council will now meet in St James's Palace to agree the formal proclamation of the new King, which will be announced to the public from a balcony in the Palace's Colour Court.

Charles is expected to be present at the meeting to take a religious oath, in what is expected to be the first time the historic ceremony has been televised live.

While mourning his mother, he will go on to tour the United Kingdom and meet the public to thank them for their support of his family.

Members of the family, including the Queen’s four children, their spouses, the Cambridges and the Sussexes, will rally around in the coming days to mourn the late Queen and support the new King in what will be the most significant public mourning since George VI.

King Charles III is the oldest person in British history to become monarch. He long ago passed the previous record holder, William IV, who was 64 when he became king in 1830.

He already held the record of being the longest-serving heir apparent, having been first in line to the throne since he was three years old.

Operation London Bridge is instigated
Buckingham Palace will now instigate Operation London Bridge, its codename for the Queen's funeral plans.

The funeral is expected to take place in 10 days' time, before which the Queen's body will lie in state in Westminster Hall in the Houses of Parliament, where the public will be able to pay their respects.

The Queen overtook Queen Victoria as Britain’s longest-serving monarch in September 2015.

She will go down in history as one of the nation's greatest sovereigns, having steered the country through the Cold War, given counsel to 15 prime ministers and built the Commonwealth into an organisation whose membership grew throughout her reign.

After navigating difficult times for the Royal family, affection and loyalty for her was at a high in her latter years in which she was viewed as the grandmother of the nation and a beacon of stability.

Like her mother, Queen Elizabeth, who lived to the age of 101, the Queen enjoyed such good health throughout her life that she rarely missed any public engagement.

It was only at the age of 95 that she was obliged to take an extended break from Royal engagements for nearly a month amid health precautions.

She missed a number of key events, including the Remembrance Sunday service at the Cenotaph in Whitehall and the Easter Sunday church service.

As details emerged that her mobility was proving a problem, the Palace said the Queen's attendance at Jubilee events would only be confirmed on the day.

During her reign, she visited 116 countries on 261 official overseas visits, which included 78 state visits, making her by far the most travelled monarch in history.

She also worked tirelessly to promote the more than 600 charities of which she was patron.

Despite her exhaustive schedule of engagements, the Queen would begin every day by reading through State papers sent to her by Government departments in the famous "red boxes", approving and signing them where necessary.

This routine never varied, no matter where in the world she was.

'I will be good', said Queen in waiting
When she was born on April 21, 1926, Elizabeth’s parents had no reason to expect that she would one day be Queen; her father's older brother, Edward, was heir to the throne, and it was only on his abdication in 1936 that Elizabeth became heir presumptive.

"I will be good," she replied, when told by her governess of her new elevated status.

She married Prince Philip of Greece, who had been given the title Duke of Edinburgh the day before their wedding, in 1947, for which the Board of Trade allowed the princess extra clothing coupons for the satin of her wedding dress.

Their son, Prince Charles, was born a year after the wedding, to be followed by Princess Anne in 1950.

On her 21st birthday, in an address from Cape Town, Elizabeth had declared that "my whole life, whether it be long or short, shall be devoted to your service".

She spent the rest of her life making good on that pledge, and the nation showed its gratitude to her with the memorable celebrations of her silver, golden and diamond jubilees.

In 2012, when Elizabeth became only the second monarch to reach a Diamond Jubilee, Britain and the Commonwealth joined in four days of celebrations, including the biggest pageant of boats seen on the Thames for 350 years.

More than a million people turned out in appalling weather to line the banks of the river and to cheer the Queen as she made her way downstream on the Royal Barge.

Equally memorable later the same year was the Queen's surprise appearance with James Bond during a film which made up part of the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games.

She defied her age in her 90s, regularly spotted out riding in Windsor and charming members of the public she met on engagements with her quick wit and beaming smile.

After the death of the Duke of Edinburgh in April 2021, aged 99, she resolved to continue her duties and resumed her public engagements with a smile.

During the coronavirus pandemic, she rallied the nation with several moving messages, in which she told the shaken public: "We will meet again."

She embraced technology in later life, amused to see her work transferring to video calls as she spent a unique lockdown in isolation in Windsor Castle.

There, surrounded by a small number of loyal staff, she spent time with Prince Philip in his final months and enjoyed the gentle pleasures of riding, walking the dogs and visiting her budgerigars.

The Queen is survived by her four children: the Prince of Wales, the Princess Royal, the Duke of York and the Earl of Wessex.

She has eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Suspects at large after stabbing spree kills 10 in Saskatchewan, RCMP say FULL CONFERENCE

Saskatchewan RCMP said Sunday afternoon that 10 people had been killed and 15 injured on James Smith Cree Nation and in Weldon, Sask. after a stabbing spree took place earlier that day.

Police said they were still searching for two suspects, identified as Damien Sanderson and Myles Sanderson, and asked residents to be vigilant and not approach the two men.

They added that it is believed some of the victims were targeted, while others were attacked at random.

Regina Police Chief Evan Bray spoke Sunday about the variation of photos that had been released on Sunday and those being circulated on social media, saying it was important during an investigation that consistent photos are used that are "reflective of what we believe the suspects look like."

He said it was "safe to say" there would be several photos available with "different facial hair, those types of things," but at this point, there was no reason to believe the current photos released were not accurate.

A dangerous persons province-wide alert has also been extended to Manitoba and Alberta.

BREAKING NEWS Manhunt underway after stabbing spree leaves 10 dead, 15 hurt in Canada

At least 10 people are dead and 15 injured after a series of stabbing attacks in an indigenous community in Canada on Sunday, authorities confirmed.

Authorities in the Canadian province of Saskatchewan are searching for Damien Sanderson and Myles Sanderson, after the two allegedly conducted the massacre in multiple locations on the James Smith Cree Nation and in the village of Weldon, northeast of Saskatoon.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Saskatchewan said that while some of the victims appear to have been targeted, others were "believed to be attacked randomly." A motive for the stabbing attack was not immediately clear.

The two men are still on the loose, and police have advised area residents to shelter in place and keep an eye out for the suspects, both of whom have black hair and brown eyes.

The duo are believed to be driving a black Nissan Rogue, though it is possible they could have switched vehicles. Their direction of travel was not known.

The mysterious disappearance of the Eilean Mor lighthouse keepers.

On the 26th December 1900, a small ship was making its way to the Flannan Islands in the remote Outer Hebrides. Its destination was the lighthouse at Eilean Mor, a remote island which (apart from its lighthouse keepers) was completely uninhabited.

Although uninhabited, the island has always sparked people’s interest. It is named after St. Flannen, a 6th century Irish Bishop who later became a saint. He built a chapel on the island and for centuries shepherds used to bring over sheep to the island to graze but would never stay the night, fearful of the spirits believed to haunt that remote spot.

Captain James Harvey was in charge of the ship which was also carrying Jospeph Moore, a replacement lifehouse keeper. As the ship reached the landing platform, Captain Harvey was surprised not to see anyone waiting for their arrival. He blew his horn and sent up a warning flare to attract attention.

There was no response.

Joseph Moore then rowed ashore and ascended up the steep set of stairs that led up to the lighthouse. According to reports from Moore himself, the replacement lighthouse keeper suffered an overwhelming sense of foreboding on his long walk up to the top of the cliff.

Once at the lighthouse, Moore noticed something was immediately wrong; the door to the lighthouse was unlocked and in the entrance hall two of the three oil skinned coats were missing. Moore continued onto the kitchen area where he found half eaten food and an overturned chair, almost as if someone had jumped from their seat in a hurry. To add to this peculiar scene, the kitchen clock had also stopped.

Moore continued to search the rest of the lighthouse but found no sign of the lighthouse keepers. He ran back to the ship to inform Captain Harvey, who subsequently ordered a search of the islands for the missing men. No-one was found.

Harvey quickly sent back a telegram to the mainland, which in turn was forwarded to the Northern Lighthouse Board Headquarters in Edinburgh. The telegraph read:

A dreadful accident has happened at Flannans. The three Keepers, Ducat, Marshall and the occasional have disappeared from the island. On our arrival there this afternoon no sign of life was to be seen on the Island.

Fired a rocket but, as no response was made, managed to land Moore, who went up to the Station but found no Keepers there. The clocks were stopped and other signs indicated that the accident must have happened about a week ago. Poor fellows they must been blown over the cliffs or drowned trying to secure a crane or something like that.

Night coming on, we could not wait to make something as to their fate.
I have left Moore, MacDonald, Buoymaster and two Seamen on the island to keep the light burning until you make other arrangements. Will not return to Oban until I hear from you. I have repeated this wire to Muirhead in case you are not at home. I will remain at the telegraph office tonight until it closes, if you wish to wire me.

A few days later, Robert Muirhead, the board’s supernatant who both recruited and knew all three men personally, departed for the island to investigate the disappearances.

His investigation of the lighthouse found nothing over and above what Moore had already reported. That is, except for the lighthouse’s log…

Muirhead immediately noticed that the last few days of entries were unusual. On the 12th December, Thomas Marshall, the second assistant, wrote of ‘severe winds the likes of which I have never seen before in twenty years’. He also noticed that James Ducat, the Principal Keeper, had been ‘very quiet’ and that the third assistant, William McArthur, had been crying.

What is strange about the final remark was that William McArthur was a seasoned mariner, and was known on the Scottish mainland as a tough brawler. Why would he be crying about a storm?

Log entries on the 13th December stated that the storm was still raging, and that all three men had been praying. But why would three experienced lighthouse keepers, safely situated on a brand new lighthouse that was 150 feet above sea level, be praying for a storm to stop? They should have been perfectly safe.

Even more peculiar is that there were no reported storms in the area on the 12th, 13th and 14th of December. In fact, the weather was calm, and the storms that were to batter the island didn’t hit until December 17th.

The final log entry was made on the 15th December. It simply read ‘Storm ended, sea calm. God is over all’. What was meant by ‘God is over all’?

After reading the logs, Muirhead’s attention turned to the remaining oil skinned coat that had been left in the entrance hall. Why, in the bitter cold winter, had one of the lighthouse keepers ventured out without his coat? Furthermore, why had all three lighthouse staff left their posts at the same time, when rules and regulations strictly prohibited it?

Further clues were found down by the landing platform. Here Muirhead noticed ropes strewn all over the rocks, ropes which were usually held in a brown crate 70 feet above the platform on a supply crane. Perhaps the crate had been dislodged and knocked down, and the lighthouse keepers were attempting to retrieve them when an unexpected wave came and washed them out to sea? This was the first and most likely theory, and as such Muirhead included it in his official report to the Northern Lighthouse Board.

But this explanation left some people in the Northern Lighthouse Board unconvinced. For one, why had none of the bodies been washed ashore? Why had one of the men left the lighthouse without taking his coat, especially since this was December in the Outer Hebridies? Why had three experienced lighthouse keepers been taken unaware by a wave?

Although these were all good questions, the most pertinent and persistent question was around the weather conditions at the time; the seas should have been calm! They were sure of this as the lighthouse could be seen from the nearby Isle of Lewis, and any bad weather would have obscured it from view.

Over the following decades, subsequent lighthouse keepers at Eilean Mor have reported strange voices in the wind, calling out the names of the three dead men. Theories about their disappearance have ranged from foreign invaders capturing the men, all the way through to alien abductions! Whatever the reason for their disappearance, something (or someone) snatched those three men from the rock of Eilean Mor on that winter’s day over 100 years ago.

This remote wild valley is not just inhospitable due to its rugged terrain, extreme weather, and predators, but is also deadly due to some unexplained circumstances. Over the decades, many unfortunate travelers and explorers have gone missing, or they turned up dead and beheaded. The number of decapitated bodies found within Nahanni Valley have earned it the nickname “Valley of Headless Men”. What is the explanation to this mystery?




The Nahanni Valley is a vast expanse of land in Canada’s Northwest Territories. It’s a land of jagged mountains, harsh forests and eerie fogs – a place steeped in supernatural lore and mystery, best reflected in its better-known moniker: ‘Valley of Headless Men’.

The Dene people who lived in the Nahanni for at least 10,000 years prior to the arrival of European explorers in the late 18th century had long spoken of mythical creatures, hidden tropical gardens and rivers that should be avoided at all costs. There may be good reasons for that. At least four headless bodies have turned up in the Nahanni Valley since the early 1900s.

Just as ominous, yet harder to quantify, the general, eerie feeling you get in the Nahanni Valley, that something is off – and it’s looking at you.

Where is the Nahanni Valley?
The Nahanni Valley is a region in Nahanni National Park, in the Dehcho region of the Northwest Territories, about 500 kilometres west of Yellowknife. It’s a huge, remote and inhospitable area that you can only visit by plane or boat. It’s well known for the South Nahanni River and four 3,000+ foot canyons, called First, Second, Third and Fourth Canyons respectively, which line the river.

It has some of the most diverse landforms in the country, with canyons, caves, tufa mounds and a waterfall twice the height of Niagara Falls all in the valley.

Animals thrive here too, given its remote location and general absence of humans. Bears, wolves, bison, caribou, owls and even the elusive wolverine all call the Nahanni home, within the mountains, plains, spruce and aspen forests of this massive area.

What is the Nahanni Valley Mystery?
There are at least five mysteries tied to the Nahanni Valley, but the most famous and likely the one you’ve heard, is the mystery of the headless bodies. That’s where the Nahanni gets its rather creepy moniker ‘Valley of the Headless Bodies’. People have vanished here, be they explorers, miners, plane pilots and others who simply dared set foot in this foreboding region.

More abstract, however, is the Nahanni’s reputation as being a place of evil, where men disappear after going downstream, tribes mysteriously vanish without a trace, giants that cook meals in the valley’s hot spring, and harbingers of doom when that spring is empty.

Frank and Willie McLeod: The First Headless Bodies
In 1904, brothers Frank and Willie McLeod left Edmonton, Alberta and came to the valley in search of gold. Making the journey in a particularly cold winter, with primitive gear, by train, boat and land, they reached Gold Creek and struck gold later that year.

With their fortune struck, they headed back to their home in Fort Liard.

But greed can get the worst of men at times, and the McLeod brothers, unsatisfied with their winnings, headed back to the Nahanni Valley in 1905 for a second expedition.

They never returned. And their fates were unknown until 1908, when their brother, Charlie McLeod, found their headless bodies on the edge of the river – with one of the corpses arms outstretched, still reaching for his gun

Their demise led to the location’s new name: Headless Creek. And the broader region in which it sits, now called ‘Deadman’s Valley’, hints at what happened to the McLeod Brothers some 100+ years ago.

Martin Jorgensen: Third Headless Body
The McLeod brothers don’t hold the distinction of being the only headless bodies found in the Nahanni Valley. In 1917, Yukon prospector Martin Jorgensen went missing shortly after he’d sent notice to his home that he’d ‘struck in rich’ while in the Nahanni. When searchers eventually found his body, they noted his cabin had been burned to the ground – and on a more gruesome note, like the McLeod brothers, he too was found missing his head.

It was the discovery of Jorgensen’s body, coupled with the McLeod’s morbid fate, that gave rise to rumours of head hunters in the Nahanni Valley, according to Canadian newspapers. And it was this same mystique, combined with the Nahanni Valley’s reputation of being a ‘subarctic El Dorado’ filled with golden nuggets, that inspired myths of ‘The Lost McLeod Mine’ and hundreds of prospectors to make the journey – many of whom never came home.

Nahanni Valley Monster
The Nahanni Valley is rich in lore and tales of mythical, sometimes macabre creatures that feast on those who enter the region. The Nahanni Valley Monster is one of them. It’s actually a collection of creatures said to inhabit the Nahanni Valley, including:

The Evil Spirit – A story told by native hunters who entered the valley in search of food and lived to tell about it. The Evil Spirit of the Nahanni Valley is said to haunt the region and make its presence known with otherworldly shrieks on cold and windy nights.

Giants – Giants are said to live in the Nahanni Valley – and cook their meals in Rabbitkettle hotsprings.

Prehistoric Monsters – Hunters and native trappers speak of mammoths, mastodons and prehistoric beasts in the Nahanni Valley – their tracks visible in snow and creek beds. Some frontiersmen may have even returned from the Nahanni wilderness with precious ivory tusks, and flesh still attached to the bone.

The Waheela – A huge, wolf-like creature linked to deaths, accidents, the unexplained and weirdness that happened to geologists and naturalists that entered the Nahanni Valley with renewed interest in the 1960s.

The Nuk-Luk – No, it’s not the Canucks rather heart-breaking playoff performance over the past 50 years (C’Mon guys, a Cup already, please??). Nuk-Luk is a short, half-naked sub-human creature spotted around the Fort Liard, Fort Simpsons and Nahanni Butte areas. He carries a stone club and has a long, dark beard.

Naha: The Vanished Tribe
Google ‘Nahanni Valley’ and you may see rumours of a vanished tribe that disappeared from the region. That’s the Naha – a nomadic, war-like people who lived in mountain caves, and frequently descended to raid Dene villages in the lowlands around the Liard and McKenzie rivers.

After years of beatdowns by the Naha, a group of brave Dene warriors had finally had enough and journeyed into Naha territory for a surprise ambush. But instead of fierce Naha, they found abandoned teepees – and nothing else.

The Naha tribe had literally disappeared.

Perhaps wisely fearing the giant cannibals and evil spirits of Nahanni mythology, the Dene warriors fled back to their settlements in the lowlands. And they saw no trace of the Naha again.

Mother’s confession: How detectives solved 6-year-old boy’s murder

BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio (WXIX) - The case of 6-year-old James Hutchinson went from missing child to a murder mystery one February day.

Detectives unraveled the story his mother and her boyfriend told, and within a few hours, the two confessed to what happened.

On Feb. 28, Brittany Gosney, 29, and her 42-year-old boyfriend, James Hamilton, walked into the Middletown Police Department to report Gosney’s son as missing.

Detective John Hoover questioned Gosney about the time frame of events, saying something just did not make sense.

“I’m a little confused that the baby [Hutchinson] has been missing since 4:30ish, we’ll say, and we don’t get the call until after 10 a.m. That’s peculiar to me,” Hoover asked Gosney. “Do you understand why?”

Middletown Police Chief David Birk said in the first press conference following the arrests of Gosney and Hamilton something seemed off when the two came to police.

“From the beginning, it was just suspicious, and it just wasn’t a normal case that we see on a regular basis,” Chief Birk recalled. “You know, when you have a missing child, again, you call 911.”

The training and experience of the detectives allowed them to find the holes in Gosney’s and Hamilton’s stories.

Throughout the three-hour interrogation, detectives bounced back and forth between rooms, disassembling the story built on a foundation of lies, brick by brick.

“When we had them separated, they never had contact again from the beginning,” Chief Birk explained. “And then, once we pulled the layers of lies off and they came up with the exact same story from beginning to end and their time frame started lining up better, that’s when you know you’re getting to the truth. And their stories by the end of the interviews, their stories were identical.”

As the interview went on, Gosney admitted to killing Hutchinson according to the sheriff’s report. She tells the detectives she and Hamilton went to the Ohio River where they dropped Hutchinson’s body.

It still has not been found.

Jeff Pelo was a 17 year veteran of the Bloomington Police Department but he was more than that. He turned out to be a serial rapist, he broke into and terrorized 3 different women in Bloomington. He stalked them, checked their records, ran their plates to know where they were and finally to each of them broke into their house, bound them with duct tape, covered their heads with a pillow case and raped them. Afterwards he would make them bathe and clean up the house, including getting rid of the sheets. He knew how to cover his tracks because of all of his training as a police officer.

One night his third victim's dog was barking like crazy and because she had had a feeling she was being followed weeks before she didn't hesitate to call the police. Another officer arrived finding Jeff Pelo outside this woman's house. The officer was shocked and concerned at the sight of this brother in arms but did the proper thing and took him in. After being interrogated for a couple of hours and Jeff repeating his innocence they decided to do a voice matching. Jeff was told to read off of a script that included things that the attacker of the women had said but it wasn't the only thing the women recognized, it was his piercing blue eyes. One look at those and they knew.

Jeff was tried and found guilty of 35 counts of rape and stalking. He received one of the top sentences in Bloomington history of 440 years. He is now where he belongs.

Authorities said Covington had attacked the family with a hammer and knife. After killing the children, he dismembered their bodies.

Sheriff's deputies found Covington, a former prison guard, cowering in a closet, wearing nothing but underwear and covered in scratches and traces of blood.

Charged with three counts of first-degree murder, three counts of abuse of a dead body and one count of animal abuse for killing the family's dog, Covington sat in prison for years, waiting for his day in court. But when his trial began last fall, he stunned everyone, including the public defenders representing him, by abruptly firing them and announcing that he would plead guilty.

"I expect you to sentence me to death," he told Hillsborough Circuit Judge William Fuente, adding that this was the sentence he would choose for himself. "I feel it's warranted. The Freibergs feel it's warranted. The state feels it's warranted. I have no problem with this."

Covington's decision to forgo a jury trial left his fate entirely with the judge and prompted Fuente to issue a stern warning. He had encountered a similar situation only once before in his career, he told Covington, and he sentenced that defendant to death.

TAMPA — Seven years after a triple homicide that Hillsborough County's sheriff called the grisliest he had ever seen, a judge on Friday sentenced Edward Covington to death for the murder of his girlfriend and her two children.

In a rejection of defense attorneys' arguments that Covington is mentally ill and should be spared the death penalty, the judge found that death was the appropriate punishment for one of the goriest homicide cases in Hillsborough's history. Covington, 42, absorbed the sentence impassively, surrounded by stone-faced lawyers.

Outside the courtroom, Barbara Freiberg, the victims' mother and grandmother, said she approved of the judge's ruling, though she acknowledged it would likely entail years, if not decades, of appeals.

"There's a relief knowing that he's going to get what he gave my children," she said.

On Friday, after more than six months of reviewing court transcripts and medical records, Fuente said the horrifying manner in which the three victims were killed outweighed the defense argument that Covington was driven by mental illness.

From the outset of the case, Covington's lawyers portrayed him as a deeply disturbed man who, at the time of the murders, was not taking prescribed medications to control his bipolar disorder.

Medical records showed that by age 15, he was taking the mood stabilizer lithium. His mother testified that throughout his teenage years and into adulthood, he swung wildly between periods of high energy and deep depression, was repeatedly hospitalized and tried to commit suicide multiple times. By the time his case went to trial, he was taking four different medications — Depakote, Seroquel, Zoloft and Klonopin.

The young Florida man charged with murdering a 13-year-old boy at a sleepover party was found guilty on all charges. Corey Johnson was 17 when he fatally stabbed Jovanni Sierra at a March 12, 2018 sleepover in the city of Palm Beach Gardens.

In addition to first-degree murder, jurors also found him guilty of two counts of attempted first-degree murder for stabbing then-13-year-old Dane Bancroft and the boy’s mother Elaine Simon. Respectively, the victims were stabbed 32 and a dozen times. Johnson had been at guest of Bancroft’s 15-year-old brother at the home in the BallenIsles Country Club gated community.

Palm Beach Gardens police have said that Johnson, who was 17 at the time of the incident, told them he was Muslim and that according to him, this played into the stabbings. He said that Sierra was idolizing celebrities and mentioning them as gods, which went against Islam, and that he believed Bancroft “made fun of” his Muslim faith. His family told cops that dictators such as Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin fascinated Johnson, police said. He recently began learning the Quran.

Bruce and Melinda Pleskovic raised their children in the quiet town of Strongsville, OH. They had two daughters Megan and Anna, and a son named Kyle with Down syndrome who was nonverbal.

Melinda was a pillar of the community, working as a teacher and also coaching the women’s varsity soccer team.

The Pleskovic’s daughter Anna began dating Jeffrey Scullin while in high school. After they graduated they got engaged and conceived a daughter. Being a young couple they needed a lot of help.

Anna worked as a waitress at Applebee’s and Jeff claimed to be doing some part-time work. To help out the Pleskovics offered to let Anna, Jeff, and their baby live in their basement rent-free so they could save up for their own place.

They all existed like one big happy family and were excitingly planning Anna and Jeff’s wedding. The Pleskovic’s got along well with the easy-going Jeff. Months after he moved in weird occurrences took over the Pleskovic’s home.

The Events
Anna and Jeff scheduled their wedding for October 2017. The agreement was for Jeff to pay the venue and send out his portion of the invitations. Bruce and Melinda were going to take care of everything else.

From the beginning, Jeff’s parents weren’t involved with the wedding planning. They didn’t even like the Pleskovics according to Jeff.

Cash started coming up missing after Jeff moved in. Small bills like ones and fives at first. Then larger amounts. The family was worried because they believed they were being targeted.

When Jeff was home alone one day, he said that someone tried breaking in. He saw someone reach their arm through the sliding glass door but was able to scare the intruder away.

They would also see people wandering around their yard but luckily Jeff was usually there to thwart any burglary attempt.

Car keys were taken and used to start their cars or set off their alarms in the middle of the night. On another occasion, Bruce found nails in one of his tires.

They always reported these incidents but there wasn’t much for the police to go on. Life continued on for the family as they were nearing the wedding date.

A week before the wedding Melinda received a call from the venue saying that they needed to pay the fee or they would cancel. She was told that Jeff’s card had been declined 14 times.

Melinda paid them and planned on confronting Jeff. He hadn’t sent out his invitations either.

Wedding Bells Turn Into A Funeral Procession
The Pleskovics again tried to contact Jeff’s family and hoped to finally meet them before the wedding. They always wanted to become friends with them but were told by Jeff that wouldn’t happen.

But on October 23, 2017, things changed. Jeff told Bruce and Melinda that his mother would like to go out to eat and reimburse them for the wedding venue.

Jeff kept changing the plans which Bruce found odd. He then received a text right before he was about to leave work from Melinda’s phone inferring that she was going to meet him at the restaurant. But the way it was worded was not how his wife texted.

Bruce showed up at the restaurant and nobody was there. He couldn’t get a hold of Melinda or anybody so he left to go to the gym.

He got a call from Anna saying to meet the family at Applebee’s followed by numerous calls from Jeff saying the same thing.

When Bruce got there Jeff was waiting with the baby. He became worried when Melinda wasn’t there. Her phone was off and neither he nor Jeff had talked to her.

Jeff stated that he wasn’t able to get into the house because the security code was not working. Bruce became more concerned but thought maybe something came up that needed Melinda’s attention.

He hurried through his meal and walked out with Jeff and the baby. Jeff’s truck needed gas so before dinner, he grabbed a couple of full containers from his dad’s house.

Jeff asked Bruce to mind the baby while he filled up his truck. Bruce noted that it was taking forever and it seemed like he was purposely being stalled.

Anna gave Jeff keys but when they got to the house he acted like they weren’t working. They were let into the house by Kyle and found Melinda lying on the floor in a pool of blood. Jeff called 911 and so did Bruce.

“You know we’ve asked people to watch our frickin’ area. We’ve had people attempt to break in just this week. I don’t know what is going on in this city but this is gettin’ done here. You people drop the…this whole city is getting fricking taken over…I can’t believe this.”-portion of Bruce Pleskovic’s 911 call.

Aftermath
Melinda’s funeral was on the same day that her daughter was supposed to marry Jeff. Her autopsy showed she was a victim of over 35 stab wounds and three gunshots. Jeff served as a pallbearer.

All of the robbery attempts and suspicious behavior ended. Police discovered that was because Jeff was the culprit behind all of it including Melinda’s murder.

Jeff failed a polygraph test. After denying that he had anything to do with the killing he eventually confessed.

He staged all the robberies and suspicious activity. Jeff claimed that Melinda got mad at him for having a gun and for accusing Anna of cheating.

That is when she flew into a rage and he shot her in self-defense. He claimed that he didn’t remember stabbing her over 35 times.

No true explanation has ever been given. The popular belief is that his failure to pay for the wedding venue had something to do with it.

Jeffrey Scullin pleaded no contest to a slew of charges. He was sentenced to life with the possibility of parole after 33 years.

The Full Interrogation Of Michael Brett Kelly Without Commentary


In 2012, 18-year-old Brett Kelly of Macon, Georgia, was dating 38-year-old Tracy Jones. When Tracy hatched the plan to steal big bucks from the real-estate law firm she was employed at, she enlisted Kelly’s assistance, along with that of his 23-year-old step-sister Courtney’s. It was Kelly who brought 23-year-old Dozier on board as well. Their plan was to wire transfer the funds from the firm’s escrow account to their own and then split the spoils four-ways.

Tracy was a junior employee at the firm and thus, did not have the access to wire transfer funds without authorization from the upper management. This was not the same case with Gail Spencer, who had been with the firm for over 10 years and was the person in charge of handling wire transfers. Tracy needed to make the transfer through Gail’s access and she needed Gail to not be at work. That’s where Kelly and Dozier entered the scene. On the morning of October 5, 2012, Tracy knocked on Gail’s door and made up an excuse to use her bathroom. 58-year-old Gail trusted the co-worker she saw every day in the office and let her in. In turn, Tracy let in Kelly and Dozier who were there to hold Gail hostage in her home while Tracy went to the office to wire transfer the money.

Kelly was brandishing a pistol, once they were inside Gail’s home, and threatened Gail at gunpoint. According to his statement, Dozier had no idea that Kelly had brought a gun with him. The plan had been to let Gail go after the money had been successfully transferred. But at some point, Kelly raped and sodomized Gail and then killed her by suffocating her with a plastic trash bag. All the while, Dozier had been keeping watch in the next room, and according to his own statement, he had also tried to stop Kelly from murdering Gail. They both fled the scene later in the day.

The police found Gail dead in her home the next day when concerned neighbors called 911. A total amount of $1.4 million was stolen in five different transactions by Tracy. The first three transfers were to Courtney’s bank accounts and Courtney decided to run away with all of the approximately $800,000. Four days later, Tracy did another two transfers, bringing the total amount of stolen funds to $1.4 million. Within a week of the crime, all four criminals – Tracy, Courtney, Brett, and Dozier – were caught by the police, thanks to a timely tip-off.

They were both charged with multiple counts of aggravated assault, felony murder, malice murder, theft by taking, burglary, and false imprisonment. Only Brett Kelly was also charged with aggravated sodomy. While Kelly accepted his charges and pleaded guilty, earning a life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole, Dozier pleaded not guilty and went to trial in 2015. Dozier was also found guilty on all charges by the jury and was sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole also. In June 2019, Dozier appealed the court’s decision but his appeal was reviewed and denied by the Supreme Court of Georgia. They both are still incarcerated in Georgia State Prison, where they will spend the rest of their lives. Tracy and Courtney got life imprisonment too, but Courtney has the possibility of parole.

Murdering Your Own Child: The Police Interrogation of Larissa Rodriguez

Larissa Rodriguez was originally charged with murdering her five year old, among other crimes. She would ultimately plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter, felonious assault, endangering children, and gross abuse of a corpse. Rodriguez was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Her late son, Jordan, was born prematurely, and was non-verbal. He was found buried in a 4-foot by 4-foot grave in the family's backyard, wrapped in blankets and trash bags by Rodriguez and her boyfriend, Christopher Rodriguez, after they woke up to find him dead on September 22, 2017.

Jordan’s body was not discovered until December, when a tip from Christopher's brother, who was deployed overseas in Pakistan, led authorities to discover the grave behind the family's home in Cleveland.

Orlando Police Internal Affairs Interview of Police Officer Andrew Mamone

On February 4, 2019 at approximately 2000 hours, Officer Andrew Mamone was riding together with Officer J. Sites as a two-man unit when they observed a black 2008 Honda Civic, bearing Florida tag KBCK40, traveling east on Greenbelt Boulevard. The vehicle pulled to the south side of Greenbelt Boulevard, turned off its headlights and continued to travel eastbound. After the vehicle came to a stop on the side of the street the officers drove past the vehicle. The officers observed that the vehicle was occupied by two black males who were not wearing their seatbelts. Officer Sites turned his marked patrol vehicle around and conducted a traffic stop with the front bumper of their marked patrol vehicle facing the front bumper of the suspect vehicle.

Officer Mamone contacted the driver, Tarik Green, and Officer Sites contacted the passenger, Daquan Grant. Green and Grant were asked to exit the vehicle because the driver stated he had cannabis in the vehicle. Officer Sites had previously contacted Green on another occasion and Green was very cooperative. Daquan Grant had originally provided the name Carey Grant and told the officers that he had been arrested before. Grant's behavior became increasingly nervous and Officer Sites stated that he could see Grant visibly shaking and acting suspiciously. Grant was placed in handcuffs due to his behavior. Officer Mamone exhausted several different avenues to obtain Grants' identity. When Officer Mamone determined Grant's identity he relayed the information to Officers Sites and Madison. A short time later, Grant ran from the stop while still in handcuffs. Officers Mamone and Madison chased Green on foot until Grant fell to the ground.

After running from Officers Mamone and Madison, Grant was able to reposition his handcuffs from the rear of his body to the front of his body. Grant attempted to get back up when Officer Mamone discharged his taser and the officers were able to gain control of him. Officers Mamone and Madison instructed Grant to get up off the ground and escorted him to the place of the original traffic stop.

On their return, Officers Mamone and Madison instructed Grant to get on the ground and reposition his handcuffs from the front of his body to the rear, threatening to pepper spray Grant if he did not comply, despite Grant's protests that he was physically unable to comply. Officer Mamone is then seen on body camera forcing Grant's legs back through his handcuffs and subsequently walking him to a patrol vehicle while stating "Wow, it's a miracle your legs work and everything."

An Internal Affairs investigation determined that Officer Mamone's actions were unreasonable.

There were no exigent circumstances or conditions that required immediate action. The subject was much smaller in size, stature and weight than all three officers on scene. The suspect never became violent or threatened violence. Taser probes were still attached to the suspect and could have been cycled if needed; the officers had access to communications to request additional officers and to equipment to secure the suspect's feet to eliminate an attempt to flee. Moreover, there were no crowd issues.

It was recommended that Officers Andrew Mamone and Jeffery Madison be sustained for a violation of "Treatment of Prisoners." Officer Mamone was suspended without pay for 24 hours. Officer Mamone grieved his suspension, and his grievances were rejected. Ultimately, his suspension case came before Arbitrator Stuart Goldstein. Despite the capitalized "A," an arbitrator is whomever the arbitration participants choose. There are no standardized minimum qualifications, and an arbitrator does not have to be an attorney. Arbitrators often come to the table with substantial industry experience. This is seen by some as benefiting labor, who would likely characterize it as being fair.

The arbitration of Officer Mamone's 24-hour suspension took seven days, the proceedings alone took nearly 24 hours. There were approximately 1,500 pages of exhibits filed, and several body-worn camera videos.

Although some news media outlets are thorough in their reporting on police officer discipline, by and large they tend to drop the ball when it comes to reporting the final disposition of discipline cases.

While Mamone's case received minimal publicity, it was reported by at least one media outlet. What was never reported – anywhere – however, is the reality that all discipline imposed against Officer Andrew Mamone was overturned:

"The City did not prove by a preponderance of the evidence that Officer Mamone's conduct either (1) threatening to use a chemical spray on Mr. Grant if he did not move his hands from his front to his back or (2) physically moving Mr. Grant's hands from his front to his back was "inhumane" and consequently did not prove that Officer Mamone violated RM 800-2c. For all of the reasons set forth above, Officer Mamone's grievance is GRANTED. The City shall make him whole in all respects."

On September 7, 2019 Jeremy Charles Dewitte was arrested by officers of the Windermere Police Department on charges of resisting an officer without violence, falsely personating an officer, and reckless driving. He was also cited for passing within an occupied lane and "passing on a double solid line."

After his arrest, Dewitte made a number of phone calls from jail, all of which were recorded. This video - the third in its series - presents Jeremy Dewitte's phone call to his mother.

Arkansas Police Impersonator's Arrest Recorded By His Own Body Camera CREEPY

On February 8, 2019 at 1:56 pm while traveling on South Pine Street in Cabot, Arkansas, Detective David Dillon of the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office observed a black Dodge Ram activate green, red, and yellow emergency lights. The vehicle then began driving in the center turn lane at "approximate speeds of 90 miles per hour," passing several cars recklessly. On the rear window of the truck was a sticker reading "Caution: Working K9,” and the front of the truck was equipped with a push bumper. Detective Dillon initiated a traffic stop, was joined by some of his colleagues, and this is what happened — as captured on the body worn camera of Jeremy Kurck.

“There were visor lights that were red and green in color. There were also several antennas on top of the vehicle. I made contact with the driver who was identified as Mr. Jeremy Kurck. I observed a badge around his neck as well as a body worn camera. I asked Mr. Kurck to turn on the lights to see if there were any blue lights attached to his truck. Mr. Kurck turned on the lights and I observed a dash camera and a mounted radar that is identical to the ones we use in our emergency vehicles.”

“During a vehicle tow inventory of the truck there were also several other items inside that resembled law enforcement equipment as well. Those items were several pairs on hand cuffs, expandable baton and holder, a taser with the warning label that says may cause death or serious physical injury, a seat organizer like we use, a flashlight, pepper spray, bear spray, a radio that had our dispatch channel programmed inside it, and a portable breath test for determining blood alcohol content.”

“Mr. Kurck was dressed in tan tactical pants and black polo which is extremely similar to the uniform that we wear at the Sheriff's Office. Mr. Kurck stated that he is a civil process server and was headed to the high school to serve a civil paper. Mr. Kurck stated he works for himself but this was his first paper to serve. Mr. Kurck was convicted of aggravated assault in 2008 and isn't allowed to serve civil process papers in the State of Arkansas. Mr. Kurck stated that he worked for ADEM. After checking with ADEM it was learned that Mr. Kurck was only an amateur radio operator for them. ADEM requested that we seize the radio and his ADEM identification card.”

“The vehicle was towed to the Lonoke County Sheriff's Office for further investigation and Mr. Kurck was transported to the Lonoke County Detention. Since Mr. Kurck's arrest, the Lonoke County Sheriff's Office has received information from some Central Arkansas Law Enforcement Agencies and citizens that this individual has been making contact with the public as a law enforcement officer.”

After publicizing Kurck's arrest, the Lonoke County Sheriff's Office asked the public to let them know if they had encountered Kurck impersonating a police officer. In response, the Sheriff's Office received numerous emails from members of the public and members of law enforcement regarding their encounters with Not-Officer Kurck. There's even a letter from the DEA!

Rapper 'DaBaby' Interrogated by Miami Beach Detectives - Full Police Interrogation

On May 31, 2021, superstar rapper Jonathan "DaBaby" Kirk and his entourage were involved in an altercation in front of the Miami Beach restaurant Prime 112. Real World Police recently published a police interview of DaBaby's bodyguard in relation to the incident. Today, in this Real World Police exclusive, the narrative takes unexpected twists and turns as DaBaby first demands (and receives!) a custom Miranda waiver, after which he relates his version of the events, revealing that he himself fired shots.

Below is a lightly edited version of the arrest report that was ultimately filed for Wisdom Akornuche Awute. Wisdom is (a) an artist on DaBaby's label, and (b) the person who was ultimately charged with attempted murder in relation to the Prime 112 shooting. The stories, to say the least, are not the same. At all.

On May 31, 2021, at approximately 2337 hours, Miami Beach Police Department (MBPD) Officer Guzman advised MBPD dispatch of shots fired on the 100 block of Ocean Drive in Miami Beach, Florida. When police arrived on scene, they found Emerson Delgado, shot in his right calf. Delgado was quickly transported to a nearby hospital for emergency care.

On scene, officers contacted Carlos Aviles, who related as follows:

[The arrest report identifies Aviles and Delgado as victims.]

Mr. Delgado and Mr. Aviles had been attempting to enter their vehicle, which was parked in front of Prime 112. A verbal altercation ensued between Aviles, Delgado, and a group of males, who Aviles identified as the entourage of rapper DaBaby. Aviles stated that the argument escalated to the point where Delgado was struck on his face by one of DaBaby's entourage members. Delgado stumbled and attempted to run from his attacker.

Aviles identified a male that began chasing after him northbound on Ocean Drive as a rapper by the name of "Wisdom." Aviles stated that Awute extended his arm and pointed a firearm directly at him, which made him fear for his life, thinking he was going to be shot. Awute then redirected his aim toward Delgado and discharged his firearm, striking Delgado in his right calf.

[Surveillance footage of the shooting, as well as surveillance footage from Prime 112, were both recently published on Real World Police.]

Delgado and Aviles started running towards Marjorie Stoneman Douglas Park, where they lost sight of Awute.

At MDPD Criminal Investigations Division, Detective Alberto Porro interviewed Aviles and Delgado. Aviles was able to positively identify Wisdom Awute via photograph, reiterating that he knew who Awute was because he is a famous rapper.

Detectives determined that Awute was staying at the JW Marriott Marquis Miami. They located Awute at the hotel, where he was arrested. Wisdom Awute refused to provide a statement to detectives.

Of course, the above narrative makes no mention of the apparent reality that a member of DaBaby's entourage ("Mr. Williams") was also shot — and apparently paralyzed — nor the claim that the group of males, who are alleged to have started shooting first, also stole one of the vehicles belonging to the entourage and fled the scene in that vehicle.

Miami Beach Police Department did not respond to an interview request in time for this publication. This description will be updated when we have more information to report.

DaBaby was held in the pictured interview room for nearly twelve hours. He has not been charged with any crime in relation the Prime 112 incident.

Empire Star Bryshere Gray FULL Police Interrogation For Domestic Violence Assault


On July 13, 2020 'Empire' actor Bryshere "Yazuan" Gray (whose real middle name is actually "Ronald") was arrested by police in Goodyear, Arizona on a slew of aggravated assault domestic violence charges.

Around 10:15 PM officers responded to a Circle K gas station after a woman called 911 and reported that her husband “who she identified as Bryshere Gray, an actor on the TV series ‘Empire,'” had brutally assaulted her for three hours at their home.

At some point toward what would be the end of the beating Gray decided to go to his local Quick Trip convenience store. He drove to the store in a rental SUV, taking his victim — Candice Jimdar — along for the ride. When Gray went into the store, Jimdar, covered head-to-toe in bruises and blood, fled from the car and requested assistance from a man driving a tow truck. He told her to get in the truck, and took her to a different, nearby gas station to get her away from her husband. Once parked, the man gave Jimdar his cell phone and she called the police.

When officers arrived, Jimdar presented with obvious indications that she had been assaulted, and related that during the ordeal she had been strangled to the edge of unconsciousness. "I observed that the reporting female victim was small in stature and appeared to be upset. She looked as if she had been physically assaulted, judging from the injuries and blood on her face."

Jimdar was treated at a local hospital, where she stated that her husband had hit her numerous times, choked her and threatened to kill her with a sharp serrated bread knife. Jimdar was taken to a safe location as the police attempted to locate and arrest Gray, who had barricaded himself inside their Goodyear home and refused to come out, leading to a SWAT callout at his residence.

Remarkably, at some point Gray managed to leave the house undetected (other than by some Ring doorbell cameras) while the SWAT team was out front. He is seen in Ring videos shirtless and jumping neighbors' fences in the dark.

Come morning, Gray returned home after allegedly having been out playing football. As soon as he was recognized he was taken into custody by officers on scene.

This is the rather bizarre interrogation of Bryshere Ronald Gray. Who is a really bad liar.

Excerpted from a report titled Initial Analysis of Bryshere Gray’s phone: “There were several images of a woman, or women, with little clothing on and topless. These images were not of Candice. This is consistent with Candice's statement that she found evidence of other women on Bryshere Gray's phone, leading to the assault.” (Yes, you read that correctly. According to Jimdar, she found evidence on his phone that he had been cheating on her — far from the first time. In response to her finding evidence of him cheating, he beat the hell out of her.)

Lonzie's mother, Lonna Lauramore Barton, sentenced to 5 years in prison

Eight months after toddler Lonzie Barton went missing and two months after his remains were found under a tire in rural Jacksonville, the little boy's mother stood mute before Circuit Judge Mark Borello and learned she would spend five years in prison.

Borello sentenced Lonna Lauramore Barton, 26, to the maximum allowable prison term after she pleaded guilty to one count each of child neglect and lying to police. As part of her plea, she agreed to testify against former boyfriend William Ruben Ebron Jr., 32, but that became unnecessary when Ebron confessed and told police where Lonzie's body was hidden.

Borello said the sentence was justified because Lonzie would still be alive if not for the actions of Lauramore Barton.

Prosecutors said the case is still being investigated, and Lauramore Barton's lawyers likely prevented her from speaking at the sentencing hearing to make sure she didn't incriminate herself.

Florida college student died protecting girlfriend in Alabama

A Florida college student was shot and killed on Sunday in Alabama trying to protect himself and his girlfriend after they were apparently held at gunpoint by a woman who claimed she was having trouble with her car, according to the Clay County (Alabama) Sheriff’s Office:

On Sunday, August 14, 2022, at approximately 11:30 am, 911 notified Clay County Sheriff’s Office and dispatched Clay County Rescue Squad and Shinbone Valley Volunteer Fire Department to National Forrest Service Road 600-3 near Cheaha Mountain for a 22-year-old male who had been shot. There were no other details on this call that were known at the time it was dispatched. Upon arrival at the scene, sheriff’s deputies, Lineville police and responding emergency personnel found the girlfriend of the shooting victim, 20-year-old Mikayla Paulus, performing CPR on her long-time boyfriend, Adam Simjee, who had been shot.

A black female, later identified as Yasmine Hider, was laying on the ground nearby. Hider had suffered several gunshots to her torso. Medical personnel were unable to revive Simjee who died at the scene. It was determined that Hider had attempted to rob Simjee and Paulus at gunpoint and was subsequently shot by Simjee who had a handgun concealed on his person. Hider was transported from the scene by ambulance to a nearby landing zone and airlifted to a Birmingham hospital where she underwent surgery for her injuries.

One of the most daunting experiences a human can endure is being close to dying. While some escape the claws of death without experiencing any changes in them, others come back just not the same. There are many theories trying to explain what happens to us when we are dying. However, there is no definite answer. Yet, many people candidly share what they felt during their near-death experiences and what effect they had on them.

When somebody created a thread on Reddit asking “Have you ever felt a deep personal connection to a person you met in a dream only to wake up feeling terrible because you realize they never existed?” one user found a perfect place to share his chilling experience. He said that his near-death experience was so strange that it took him three years to recover.

My last semester at a certain college I was assaulted by a football player for walking where he was trying to drive (note he was 325lbs I was 120lbs), while unconscious on the ground I lived a dream life.

I met a wonderful young lady, she made my heart skip and my face red, I pursued her for months and dispatched a few jerk boyfriends before I finally won her over, after two years we got married, and almost immediately she bore me a daughter.

I had a great job, and my wife didn’t have to work outside of the house when my daughter was two; she [my wife] bore me a son. My son was the joy of my life, and I would walk into his room every morning before I left for work and doted on him and my daughter. I was living the best life possible.

One day while sitting on the couch I noticed that the perspective of the lamp was odd, like inverted. It was still in 3D but… just… wrong. (It was a square lamp base, red with gold trim on four legs and a white square shade). I was transfixed. I couldn’t look away from it. I stayed up all night staring at it, the next morning I didn’t go to work, something was just not right about that lamp.

I stopped eating, I left the couch only to use the bathroom at first, soon I stopped that too as I wasn’t eating or drinking. I stared at the lamp for three days before my wife got really worried, she had someone come and try to talk to me, by this time my cognizance was breaking up and my wife was freaking out. She took the kids to her mother’s house just before I had my epiphany…. the lamp is not real…. the house is not real, my wife, my kids… none of that is real… the last ten years of living the life are not real!

The lamp started to grow wider and deeper, it was still inverted dimensions, it took up my entire perspective and all I could see was red, I heard voices, screams, all kinds of weird noises and I became aware of pain…. a s**t ton of pain… the first words I said were “I’m missing teeth” and opened my eyes. I was laying on my back on the sidewalk surrounded by people that I didn’t know, and lots were freaking out, I was completely confused.
at some point a cop scooped me up, dragged/walked me across the sidewalk and grass and threw me face down in the back of a cop car, I was still confused.

I was taken to the hospital by the cop (seems he didn’t want to wait for the ambulance to arrive) and give CT scans and s**t.

I went through about three years of horrid depression, I was grieving the loss of my wife and children and dealing with the knowledge that this life experience never existed, I was scared that I was going insane as I would cry myself to sleep hoping I would see her in vivid dreams. I never have, but sometimes I see my son, usually just a glimpse out of my peripheral vision, he is perpetually five years old, and I can never hear what he says.

EDIT (24 hours after post): never thought anyone would read this life story, I changed a line so that it no longer seems that my 2-year-old daughter bore a child.

Search was part of an investigation into former president’s handling of official records, people familiar with the matter said

Former US President Donald Trump said on Monday that his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, was raided by FBI agents.

Mr Trump did not say why the raid took place and the circumstances remain unclear.

"These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently under siege, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agents," he said in a statement posted on his Truth Social network.

"After working and cooperating with the relevant Government agencies, this unannounced raid on my home was not necessary or appropriate.

"They even broke into my safe."

The Justice Department has been investigating the discovery of boxes of records containing classified information that were taken to Mar-a-Lago after Mr Trump's presidency had concluded.

That matter was referred to the Justice Department by the National Archives and Records Administration, which said it had found classified material in 15 boxes at the residence.

Federal law bars the removal of classified documents to unauthorised locations, though it is possible that Mr Trump could try to argue that, as president, he was the ultimate declassification authority.

It was not clear whether the FBI search was connected to that probe.

‘The Flash’ Star Ezra Miller Charged With Felony Burglary in Vermont

Ezra Miller, the embattled star of Warner Bros.’ “The Flash” movie, has been charged with felony burglary in Stamford, Vt., according to a Vermont State Police report.

According to the police report, Vermont State Police were notified of a burglary complaint from a residence in Stamford at 5:55 p.m. on May 1. Police found that several bottles of alcohol were taken from the residence while the homeowners were not present. After collecting statements and looking at surveillance videos, police found probable cause to charge Miller with felony burglary into an unoccupied dwelling.

Police located Miller on Aug. 7 at 11:23 p.m. and issued them a citation to appear in Vermont Superior Court on Sept. 26 for arraignment.

According to a Rolling Stone investigation in June, Miller has been housing a 25-year-old mother and her three children, who are between the ages of one and five, at the actor’s home ranch in Stamford, Vt. The property doubles as an unlicensed cannabis farm and has several firearms on the premises, according to the report. One source who spoke to Rolling Stone alleged that the one-year-old child was found with a loose bullet in their mouth. It’s unclear whether the Stamford properties are one and the same.

This is the latest controversy to befall Miller, who has been at the center of scandals for the better part of this year. They were arrested twice in Hawaii this spring, once for disorderly conduct and harassment and once more for second-degree assault. Miller is facing several allegations of abuse from different women around the world, including choking a woman in an Icelandic bar and harassing another woman in her home in Berlin.

Throughout Miller’s arrests and controversies, the question of whether or not the solo “Flash” movie will be canceled or released in theaters next year has persisted. Last week, however, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav reiterated that “The Flash” is still a go, saying: “We have seen ‘The Flash,’ ‘Black Adam’ and ‘Shazam 2.’ We are very excited about them. We’ve seen them. We think they are terrific, and we think we can make them even better.” After several delays, “The Flash” is currently set to hit theaters on June 23, 2023.

Smoke Shop Clerk Stabs 1 of 3 Robbers with a Knife Multiple Times in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV—Three male suspects rushed into the Smokestorm Smoke Shop near the 4500 block of West Sahara Avenue on Tuesday around 3:30 p.m. and attempted to smash and grab the establishment.

While the three men attempted to rob the store, the clerk (possibly the owner) grabbed one of the suspects after he jumped behind the counter and started stabbing him multiple times throughout his upper body.

The other two suspects leave their accomplice behind as the Asian-American store clerk repeatedly stabs him.

When 17-year old Amy Billig disappeared on March 4, 1974, the entire community of Coconut Grove, FL, was devastated. Billig reportedly made a trip home after getting out of school, changed clothes, and was seen getting into a van to visit her father's place of business. She never arrived.

Investigators looked for Billig, but to no avail, and even used her journal as a guide to try to figure out what had happened to the girl. Authorities found her camera by the highway, but there were no real leads as to her whereabouts.

Billig's mother, Susan, never stopped looking for her daughter and traveled around the world, following potential leads. She wrote a book about her investigation, detailing all of the tips called in and the motorcycle outlaw subculture she was drawn into as she searched for her daughter.

One of the strongest leads Susan possessed was that Billig had been taken by members of the Pagans motorcycle club to party in the Everglades. In 1998, a former "enforcer" for the Pagans, Paul Branch, confessed to the deed, admitting the club had picked Billig up, slipped her something, then taken her to their clubhouse, and repeatedly assaulted her.

Billig's heart stopped as a result of the substances and abuse, and the gang dropped her body in the swamps of the Everglades to get rid of the evidence, feeding her to the alligators to cover their tracks. According to authorities, Branch and other members of the Pagans had been questioned in Billig's disappearance, but repeatedly denied any knowledge of the event. Only at the end did Branch admit to his wife that members of the club were responsible.

It's unclear if Susan Billig ever believed Branch's confession or if an actual confession ever took place. Authorities were hesitant to believe Branch's widow, thinking she was trying to capitalize on the passings of Billig and her husband. Susan Billig continued to look for her daughter, indicating she wasn't satisfied with the widow's information.

My very favorite patient had been declining pretty steadily so I was checking on him very frequently. We would have long chats and joke around with each other, but in the last two weeks of his life, he stopped talking completely and didn’t really acknowledge conversation directed at him at all.

I finished my medication rounds for the evening and went to see him before I left. I told him I was leaving for the night and that I’d see him the following day, and he looked me in the eyes and smiled SO genuinely and said, “You look like an angel.” I thought it was so sweet because he had not seemed lucid in weeks.

He died the next morning. It really messed with me.

Peters says he felt a force jerk his spirit upward, out of his body. He floated above Ron’s bedside, looking down at the dying man. Then he glanced next to him to discover Ron floating alongside him, looking at the same scene below.

“He looked at me and he gave me this happy, contented look as if he was telling me, ‘Check this out. Here we are,’ ’’ Peters says.

Peters says he then felt his spirit drop into his body again. The experience was over in a flash. Ron died soon afterward, but Peters’ questions about that day lingered. He didn’t know what to call that moment but he eventually learned that it wasn’t unique. Peters had a “shared-death experience.”

Most of us have heard of near-death experiences. The stories of people who died and returned to life with tales of floating through a tunnel to a distant light have become a part of popular culture. Yet there is another category of near-death experiences that are, in some ways, even more puzzling.

Stories about shared-death experiences have been circulating since the late 19th century, say those who study the phenomenon. The twist in shared-death stories is that it’s not just the people at the edge of death that get a glimpse of the afterlife. Those near them, either physically or emotionally, also experience the sensations of dying.

These shared-death accounts come from assorted sources: soldiers watching comrades die on the battlefield, hospice nurses, people holding death vigils at the bedside of their loved ones. All tell similar stories with the same message: People don’t die alone. Some somehow find a way to share their passage to the other side.

5. I’m a nurse and was previously working at an assisted living community on the dementia/Alzheimer’s unit.

My very favorite patient had been declining pretty steadily so I was checking on him very frequently. We would have long chats and joke around with each other, but in the last two weeks of his life, he stopped talking completely and didn’t really acknowledge conversation directed at him at all.

I finished my medication rounds for the evening and went to see him before I left. I told him I was leaving for the night and that I’d see him the following day, and he looked me in the eyes and smiled SO genuinely and said, “You look like an angel.” I thought it was so sweet because he had not seemed lucid in weeks.

He died the next morning. It really messed with me.

NORCO, Calif. - The owner of a store that was targeted by would-be robbers turned the table on one of the suspects by opening fire on him in Norco.

Authorities said that at 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, four male suspects in a black BMW SUV attempted to rob Norco Market & Liquor, located in the 2800 block of Clark Avenue.

Surveillance video obtained by FOX 11 shows a male suspect wearing a red and black sweatshirt and a ski mask entering the store before he points a rifle at the store owner who was behind the counter. Noticing that the man entering the store was armed, the store owner swiftly grabbed a shotgun from underneath the counter and opened fire on the suspect. The suspect is then seen fleeing the store.

As the suspect ran out of the store, surveillance video from outside the establishment showed a second suspect inside the black SUV exiting the vehicle, also armed. However, after noticing the first suspect running from the scene, both suspects got back into the vehicle and drove away.

The suspects were located at a Southern California hospital, one of whom was suffering from a gunshot wound consistent with a shotgun blast, authorities said. Three additional suspects were also located at the hospital in the suspect vehicle, which had been previously reported stolen. The BMW SUV was also found to contain numerous stolen firearms.

Justin Johnson, 22, of Inglewood, Jamar Williams, 27, of Los Angeles, and Davon Broadus, 24, of Las Vegas, were each taken into custody in the hospital parking lot and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for robbery and conspiracy. They are being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.

The primary suspect, a 23-year-old male, remains hospitalized in critical, but stable condition, and his identity has not been released at this time. He will be booked into a Riverside County jail upon his release from the hospital, authorities said.

"In this case, a lawfully armed member of our community prevented a violent crime and ensured their own safety, while being confronted with multiple armed suspects," deputies wrote in a press release.

Infowars Sidekick Owen Shroyer Testifies In Alex Jones' Sandy Hook Defamation Trial

A longtime sidekick for conspiracy theorist Alex Jones took the stand Thursday in a trial that will determine how much Jones and his Infowars website will have to pay a pair of Sandy Hook Elementary parents whose child was killed in the 2012 school massacre.

Attorney Kyle Farrar questioned an Infowars show host, Owen Shroyer, who’s been with the conspiracy outlet since 2016, over the responsibility Infowars had to vet its information before presenting it as fact to an audience of potentially millions of listeners.

Farrar paid particular attention to a 2017 video of Shroyer in which he presented as fact a fake story about the Sandy Hook massacre in Newtown, Connecticut, that was published on the blog ZeroHedge. (U.S. intelligence officials have accused ZeroHedge of publishing Kremlin propaganda.)

The story in question, by an anonymous user named “ZeroPointNow,” portrayed father Neil Heslin as a liar when he recalled holding his dead son Jesse’s body in a separate interview with NBC News’ Megyn Kelly.

“I lost my son. I buried my son. I held my son with a bullet hole through his head,” Heslin told Kelly in the June 2017 segment.

A jury will soon decide how much money Jones and Infowars will have to pay Heslin and Scarlett Lewis for the pain and harassment they’ve endured because of Jones repeatedly saying the shooting was fake.

Shroyer told viewers in the 2017 Infowars’ segment that “fact checkers” said ZeroHedge’s story had merit. Yet on the stand Thursday, Shroyer admitted he has no idea who “ZeroPointNow” is. And the fact-checker he referenced on that episode was Jim Fetzer, author of the book “Nobody Died at Sandy Hook.”

“You did zero to determine if the story was accurate, right?” asked Farrar.

“Correct,” said Shroyer. He later acknowledged, “I could have done a better job.”

“You could have done A job,” Farrar shot back. “You could have done something.”

The DC Snipers Serial Killers Documentary

At 3:19 in the morning on October 24, 2002, the FBI closed in on the snipers and their 1990 Chevy Caprice.

During the month, 10 people had been randomly gunned down and three critically injured while going about their everyday lives—mowing the lawn, pumping gas, shopping, reading a book. Among the victims was one of our own—FBI intelligence analyst Linda Franklin, who was felled by a single bullet while leaving a home improvement store in Virginia with her husband.

But now, the attacks—which had terrorized the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area—had finally come to an end.

How It Began
The murders that shocked the nation’s capital and the nation itself had started three weeks earlier.

On October 2, 2002, a sniper’s bullet struck down a 55-year-old man in a parking lot in Wheaton, Maryland. By 10 o’clock the next morning, four more people within a few miles of each other had been similarly murdered.

The attacks were soon linked, and a massive multi-agency investigation was launched.

The case was led by the Montgomery County (Maryland) Police Department, headed by Chief Charles Moose, with the FBI and many other law enforcement agencies playing a supporting role. Chief Moose had specifically requested our help through a federal law on serial killings.

Within days, the FBI alone had some 400 agents around the country working the case. We had set up a toll-free number to collect tips from the public, with teams of new agents in training helping to work the hotline. Our evidence experts were asked to digitally map many of the evolving crime scenes, and our behavioral analysts helped prepare a profile of the shooter for investigators. We had also set up a Joint Operations Center to help Montgomery County investigators run the case.

The Beginning of the End
The big break in the case came, ironically, from the snipers themselves.

On October 17, a caller claiming to be the sniper phoned in to say, in a bit of an investigative tease, that he was responsible for the murder of two women (actually, only one was killed) during the robbery of a liquor store in Montgomery, Alabama, a month earlier.

That set in motion a chain of events that led to the capture of a pair of snipers.

Here’s how the investigation played out:

Investigators soon learned that a crime similar to the one described in the call had indeed taken place—and that fingerprint and ballistic evidence were available from the case.
An agent from our office in Mobile gathered that evidence and quickly flew to Washington, D.C., arriving Monday evening, October 21. While ATF handled the ballistic evidence, we took the fingerprint evidence to the FBI Laboratory (then located at our Headquarters).
The following morning, our fingerprint database produced a match—a magazine dropped at the crime scene bore the fingerprints of Lee Boyd Malvo from a previous arrest in Washington State. We now had a suspect.
The arrest record provided another important lead, mentioning a man named John Allen Muhammad. One of our agents from Tacoma recognized the name from a tip called into that office on the case. A second suspect.
Our work with ATF agents revealed that Muhammad had a Bushmaster .223 rifle in his possession, a federal violation since he had been served with a restraining order to stay away from his ex-wife. That enabled us to charge him with federal weapons violations. And with Malvo clearly connected, the FBI and ATF jointly obtained a federal material witness warrant for him. The legal papers were now in our hands.
Meanwhile, on October 22, we searched our criminal records database and found that Muhammad had registered a blue Chevy Caprice with the license plate of NDA-21Z in New Jersey. That description was given to the news media and shared far and wide.
