Join Brendan Mahan and I as we chat about how each time failure occurs emotions can build. Shame, guilt and disappointment can lead to more and more bricks in each child's walls. The Wall of Awful is the emotional barrier that prevents neurodivergent kids from initiating tasks and taking the risks necessary to reach their goals. We talk in detail about how these walls are built and the strategies to help get over them, around them or through them!
I'm hopeful that this episode will help bring even more understanding and support for the mental health of neurodivergent children and teens.

This episode is a game changer for autistic children and the parents, educators and therapists who support them. Jaime A. Heidel, Autistic/ADHD Author, and I discuss the traumatizing misinterpretations that occur daily between autistic children and neuroypical individuals. Jaime talks about her own experience and the experience of other autistic individuals she has interviewed about how they often ask, "What Did I Do Wrong?" which is also the title of her book. Thank you for taking the time to listen to this important episode. If you find it helpful, Jaime and I would greatly appreciate it if you would share it with someone who could benefit.

Are you a parent or professional of differently wired children?
We NEED to understand anxiety in differently wired children. Anxiety is more likely to occur in children diagnosed with Autism and/or ADHD. It can also be mistaken for challenging behavior. Anxiety is so powerful that it can actually outweigh rewards and significantly impact social interaction. Differently wired children often struggle to communicate their thoughts, feelings and even their needs - Of course, that would be anxiety-provoking! I also dig into how anxiety can negatively impact academic performance.
In this episode, You'll learn the signs of anxiety, what variables lead to anxiety and how to help differently wired children cope.
