1920年代，為躲避中國大陸動盪不安的時局，一帶功夫名家費柴（胡楓飾）攜子玉書（錢嘉樂飾）來到香港，出於安全考慮，他隱姓埋名做了一名剃頭匠，收入雖微薄，卻好在平安。唯一令他煩心的，是玉書無心向學貪讀漫畫，責駡多次亦無效。某日玉書來到警司家，無意間發現他正與黑幫分子王正利做販賣人口的非法生意，非常氣憤，又見王正利欲對警司下女小茹（羅美薇飾）不軌，玉書再也抑制不住憤怒，一番打鬥，小茹被救出，玉書得罪警司與王正利。其後，費柴與玉書再無寧日，就在兩人無法招架惡勢力一方狠毒的蠍子功時，漫畫書幫上大忙。

Though his income was small, he was very lucky. The only thing that bothered him was that Yushu didn't want to learn to read comic books greedily, and it was useless to scold him many times. One day, Yushu comes to the superintendent's house and finds that he is doing illegal human trafficking business with gangster Wang Zhengli. He is very angry. He also sees that Wang Zhengli wants to do something wrong with his daughter Xiaoru (Luo Meiwei). Yushu can no longer restrain his anger. After a fight, Xiaoru is rescued. Yushu offends the superintendent and Wang Zhengli. After that, Fei Chai and Yu Shu had no peace. When they were unable to fight against the evil forces, comic books helped a lot
