After the Cleveland Cavaliers blockbuster trade acquisition of Donovan Mitchell over the course of the 2022 NBA offseason, many around the NBA were curious as to what he would be able to do in this Cavs offense, and how the rest of the team would be surrounding him. And well, while it is still early in the year, JB Bickerstaff & this team are doing things in ways that absolutely nobody expected to see, & they’re proving all of their doubters wrong in the process.
Along with Donovan Mitchell, with stars in Darius Garland, Caris Levert, Evan Mobley, & Jarett Allen, this offense is beyond dominant from almost all levels of the court. Whether from deep or inside, there’s almost no way to stop them. And then even in their next set of guys with Kevin Love, Cedi Osman, Dean Wade, Isaac Okoro, etc, there’s so much more offensive scheming possibilities with the addition of Spida in the backcourt.
And then defensively, while some were questioning how Donovan Mitchell would fit on the Cavs, it’s clear through their all around excellence in this regard & leading the NBA in the process, there’s no reason to think this team can’t be a legitimate threat come the 2023 NBA Playoffs.
