Sony has updated its 10-series mid-range smartphone lineup with the Xperia 10 Mark V. The new product is the world's lightest 5G smartphone with a 5,000 mAh battery. The device turned out to be lighter than its predecessor and weighs only 159 g.
To meet the weight restrictions, Sony engineers used a polycarbonate body and a relatively compact (by today's standards) 6.1-inch display. It is based on an OLED panel with Full HD+ resolution. Sony claims the display is 1.5 times brighter than the Xperia 10 IV, but the refresh rate is still 60Hz. It has Sony's 21:9 aspect ratio and has no cutouts.
Sony Xperia 10 V adopted the Snapdragon 695 5G hardware platform from its predecessor. The smartphone contains 6 GB of RAM, 128 GB of built-in memory and a slot for a microSD memory card with a capacity of up to 1 TB.
Instead, Sony improved the camera in the new model. The sensor of the main module is 1.6 times larger than its predecessor, which should improve the quality of pictures when shooting in low light conditions. The camera includes a 48-megapixel 1/2-inch sensor and an optical image stabilization system. An 8-megapixel telephoto module and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle module are also available to users. The front camera is also 8-megapixel. It is located in the upper frame above the display.
Engineers also improved the acoustic system. The Sony Xperia 10 V has two front speakers for stereo sound transmission. Among other things, the presence of a 3.5 mm headphone jack and LDAC support are mentioned. The battery capacity is 5000 mAh.
The new Sony Xperia 10 V smartphone will go on sale in mid-June at a price of €449.
