Indiana Jones 5 suffered a humiliation on Tuesday July 4th after losing the #1 Box Office spot on its fifth day to Sound of Freedom from Angel Studios ( starring Jim Caviezel ) , a movie that once belonged to The Walt Disney Company following the $70 Billion acquisition of Fox Studios in 2019.
But Sony Pictures and Blumhouse Insidious The Red Door exploded out the gate with $32 Million at the domestic box office and $64 Million globally for a HUGE start to a film that cost $16 Million to produce. In other words, Sony could make TWENTY Insidious films for the same price as ONE Indiana Jones in 2023.
This puts Indiana Jones squarely in the doghouse and sets it up to lose about $250 Million for The Walt Disney Company.
