Gigafactory Texas on 27 January 2021! This is where the Cyber Truck and Model Y will be built!
A great day to fly at Giga Texas today and we get to see another first! The first wall sections are going up on the concrete structure over the stamping machines!
Highlights from today:
- First wall sections installed at the concrete structure as well as the first concrete pour on the roof! More slabs on the ground floor being poured as well, bringing the total floor area in concrete to almost 75% of the structure!
- More footings being excavated in the center of the foundation and most of the others on the southwest side have been poured and are curing. It looks like they are clearing out the area just south of the paint shop to possibly begin footing excavation soon (which is necessary to extend the structure further)
- The West steel structure is growing on the north and east sides and more prep for concrete floor pours. I take a closer look at two roof beams some viewers believe are incorrectly installed. These appear to be part of water management, but I'll entertain other thoughts.
- The paint shop steel structure west expansion has now reached the north perimeter grade beam. The east expansion continues to grow south and is now only 6 sections from the southernmost portion of the original steel structure and 8 sections from joining the new east structure. More concrete floor pours are underway on the first and third floors today.
- The east structure continues growing south and is now well over 400 feet long. Electrical box structures have been installed on the west side of this structure.
- The casting machine area has more roof panels installed and long concrete beams were arriving on site this morning. Assembly work on the first casting machine continues.
- The north clearing area continues to have grade and fill work and there is now levelling and grade work on the east side contractor trailer area as well.
- GeoPier work on the northwest side (where the battery cell manufacturing will take place) continues and we have learned from on-site sources that over 4,000 individual piers need to be installed in this area because of the large area that was a swamp.
