Mbye Mbye Kylian! Xavi situation and more!

In this episode of PSG review we have a full analysis of Kylian Mbappé as he says bye bye to the club and its fans. In the end - and perhaps all the time - a very divisive character. A brilliant, but not flawless footballer and a complex personality who perhaps an out of steam in the final months. Or maybe he was too focused on his future as we know he always was.

We also talk about the uninspired match against Toulouse and the trophy celebrations. Pay homage to the voice of the Parc des Princes Michel Montana and discuss another mystery man in the world of football - Xavi Simons. Can we avoid unnecessary drama with him?

PSG women battled their way in the Division 1 final against OL. That one is next Friday so a quick update about them too.

It's a cliche to call this jam packed, but boy oh boy, that's what it is.

Uncharacteristically hopeful end to the PSG's European dream!

Borussia Dortmund was the better team in two legs of Champions League semifinals, but somehow this was an uncharacteristically hopeful end to PSG's European campaign this season.

If you would've told me last June that we play 12 matches in the Champions League and compete for the final, I think I would've been very happy.

We have an early analysis of the season and talk about whether Mbappé let himself and us down and why that could have been plus all the talking points of Paris Saint-Germain.

No chance for Lyon at Parc des Princes

PSG leaves Lyon absolutely no chance for points at Parc des Princes on Sunday that wrapped up the week that remains in the history of the club.

Semi-finals secured - a European night to remember for PSG!

Paris Saint-Germain beat FC Barcelona to secure its place in the Champions League semi-finals this year. What a night it was in Catalunya for our Parisiens. Certainly one that we will remember for years to come.

A sizeble step up is required for the UCL semifinals

PSG was unsuccesful in defeating FC Barcelona at Parc des Princes. It was an opportunity missed and now a sizable step up is required to reach the UEFA Champions League semifinals. Not's not easy, but it's not impossible eaither.

We also talk about Marquinhos and his brand new club record with most matches played, a little bit about Danilo and what is the future of Ethan Mbappé? That's a good question.

Last week some Ligue 1 club directors were making critical and snarky comments about PSG - why and was it worth it. Listen to find out.

Marseille defeated by 10 man PSG

In this episodes we look into Le Classique against Marseille and how PSG beat them well and truly with 10 players on the pitch for 50 minutes out of 90 and all this in front of 60 000 fuming fans. The red card involved some drama as you would imagine and we look into it all. After the match Kylian Mbappé posted a photograph of himself solemnly walking with a captain's armband in his hand in Marseille rain at the Stade de Velodrome. A very melancholic and dramatic image no doubt, but how do we read it while his team mates were celebrating the excellent victory over the arch-rivals.

PSG women have made their way to the Champions League semi-finals and they will play against their domestic rivals Lyon there. Both teams are still alive in all competitions. It's very exciting season.

If we have the mentality, we will have the quality

This episode of PSG review revolves around one basic principle: If we have the mentality, we will have the quality!

What is Kylian Mbappé's legacy in Paris as all leads point towards his departure. We talk about the current state of PSG days before the second leg of Champions League round of 16 knockout match against Real Sociedad.

In this episode of PSG review we talk with Charles Cho from PSG Fan Club Toronto. He is one of its co-founders and before that he co-founded PSG Fan Club Montreal. Calm before the storm?

PSG is pushing on in the Coupe de France having beaten two lower level opponents during this January of 2024, the Ligue 1 is back and Champions League is less than a month away - it's very calm right now in the PSG camp, but I assume there might be a few storms coming. Hopefully nothing bad, but rather in a good sense of the word. We have our eyes on the potential futures and how the matches and transfer talk are currently going.

Europe's most hated!

In this episode we talk about the latest Champions League match against Newcastle and how its aftermath reminded us once again that PSG is the Europe's most hated club! I mean, we love it, but the mind-numbing, selective and intellectually lazy analysis by the worst tabloids of Europe beg to differ as somehow it is our fault that they didn't like the referee's decision late in the match. Boy oh boy, prepare yourself for a ride.

Of course we talk about the match itself and what does the result mean for the campaign.

Lessons from San Siro & resurrection of Marquinhos

In this episode of PSG review we cover the second match against AC Milan and what were the lessons from San Siro. Donnarumma certainly had a baptismal of fire, but how did he fare? We cover all about the match and where does this leave us on the table in this incredibly difficult group stage.

We also return to a topic I had started earlier this year in February as I said "We need to talk about Marquinhos" (you can find the episode in the feed). Marquinhos has reclaimed his status in Paris, but what are the various factors behind it. Last February we had an episode "we need to talk about Marquinhos" & we update that - how far we have come in less than a year.

Montpellier masterclass & Ballon d'or afterthoughts

In this episode of PSG review we look into the match day 11 of Ligue 1 season as PSG orchestrated a masterclass against Montpellier. We have midfielders scoring goals against low blocks and various players making statements with their performances.

We also talk a little bit about a PSG player meet & greet which the club had organised earlier in the week and we, fans, got to talk to players like Bradley Barcola, Keylor Navas, Danilo, Lee Kang-In, Manuel Ugarte, Carlos Soler, Gonçalo Ramos and Kylian Mbappé.

Also in this episode we look into the Ballon d'or. A player who played for us for the season in consideration won the award - that's Lionel Messi of course - but was it in anyway deserved or is this even an award we should pay this much attention to?

PSG beats Strasbourg despite rotation & AC Milan is at the door

International breaks can be difficult to return from with tired players and potential injuries and when you add on top of that that Luis Enrique had chosen to rotate the squad heavily and rest several key players, the results can be underwhelming. That wasn't the case however as this rotated squad took care of the business against RC Strasbourg and we even had some unexpected heroes as Carlos Soler and Fabian Ruiz held their own and went even beyond.

We also talk about the forthcoming Champions League match against AC Milan and the home coming of our titi Parisien Mike Maignan.

PSG women are doing well in domestic D1 as well as in the UWCL making it to the group stage by beating Manchester United. As Murphy would have it, on this side too we drew the toughest group and will be playing Bayern Munich, AS Roma as well as Amsterdam Ajax.

PSG fall in Newcastle - how to get up?

PSG fell flat in Newcastle on the match day two of the group stage. The home team was great and PSG were poor, but the match didn't go without any refereeing controversies.

What was the problem with the system and what was the problem with the players, but more than any of that, how to move forward?

We also cover the PSG women's match - le choc - against OL which was played on Parc des Princes last Sunday night.

It's a new era. We cover the Champions League group stage draw and its intricacies as well as have a real overlook of the rejuvenated PSG squad.

Kolo Muani is close to PSG & joyous win over Lens

We have less than a week of the summer transfer window left and even less time before the Champions League group stage draw, but PSG is still busy adding up new players and potentially selling old ones. Randal Kolo Muani is close to joining PSG if the club can agree on the terms with his current employer Eintracht Frankfurt. Verratti might be on his way out, but will he really be content with Qatari league? And then there's the last week left of this chapter of Mbappé saga. In a few days we know how it ends or at least where it is left for another few months, if not the whole season.

PSG had a great match against RC Lens and kept all three points in capital and as the squad starts solidifying, we discuss the various options Luis Enrique has in his hands.

The new season is less than a week away and PSG is wrapping up some exciting signings with Ousmane Dembélé and Gonçalo Ramos. We talk about them, how to approach the potential injuries and how much depth does the squad have.

Of course we need to talk about Kylian Mbappé who could be on his way out and we hope that they can find a workable solution, but what to do if it doesn't happen? How pragmatic should we be if he stays or is a worldclass statement necessary.

Xavi Simons returns as preseason is on, but Mbappé stays undecided

Xavi Simons is coming back to Paris! This is such great news for us, but of course his next season will depend on other deals. Namely, it depends on whether both Mbappé and Neymar will continue in PSG or not. If one of them leaves, Xavi stays in red and blue, but if both stay, he is reported to go to RB Leipzig on loan without an option to buy. Either way, great news for us!

We talk about all of the transfers that have been announced and also look into who might be on their way out and we can't avoid talking about the #MbappéSaga - to have the obligatory #Mbapdate if you will. What might he be thinking right now.

We discuss some rumours as well and there are plenty to choose from. What is the situation with Messi, Neymar, Galtier and Campos? All these are answered here and we also check how the imploding French women's national team reflects on the PSG season.

We need to talk about Marquinhos

Our PSG captain finds himself providing more excuses than solid performances on the pitch and it’s been a long time coming. For one year now actually.

We look into his PSG story so far and try to get to the bottom of his struggle to find form. It’s a genuine investigation rather than a rant againts him. If anything, it’s a love letter to a great servant of the club, but sometimes you have to ask the difficult question: would both be better off going separate ways.

Of course we cover a whole host of topics around this and briefly look into the Monaco match as much as prepare for the UCL clash against no less than Bayern Munich.

The only way is up for PSG

Hitting the rock bottom - or what we wish to be as bad as it gets - PSG was knocked out from Coupe de France by the nemesis, Marseille. It doesn’t feel great, but where does that leave the team and the leaders of this club as we are staring at an absolutely humongous month ahead of ourselves. How to fix up and what needs to be fixed. Join us in this episode as we try to make sense of it all.

- Mbappé injury in the worst time of the season as PSG struggle three points in Montpellier

- PSG women have quietly excellent mercato!

Who should captain PSG + transfers and Reims at Parc des Princes

Welcome to the one year anniversary episode of PSG review. This time we talk about how are our transfers looking and the match against Stade de Reims on Sunday night at Parc des Princes. There has also been a bit of a debate about our team’s captaincy so we look into that - who should be the captain, why and what are the general requirements.

Of course we talk about the women’s team, transfers and Coupe de France match and other things around PSG in general.

PSG & Parc: What's happening?

This is the great stadium episode we have promised. PSG would want to buy Parc des Princes which it only currently rents from the city of Paris, but the municipality has said that they aren't selling. I do understand it on one hand - selling a local landmark to the private sector and especially to a company owned by a foreign government, is no small decision, but at the same time, what is Parc without PSG? And what is PSG without Parc? Both questions are equally pertinent and it is true that this situations moves faster than Lewis Hamilton, but based on the information at hand, we tackle this issue in this episode.

This is a conversation about the identity, locality, but also the business side of PSG in this modern era. It doesn't get much bigger than that.

We are incredibly privileged to be joined by Stu from Parisian Londoner who will bring in both his local knowledge as a Parisian, but also lessons learned from the many English clubs who have moved or refurbished their stadia. I learned a lot and even changed my mind about this matter during this episode so it's worth the listen.

PSG stumble against Rennes & how to regain the momentum

I wish I had more upbeat news, but the rather miserable start for 2023 hasn't improved and Christophe Galtier has a big task to get this team click again as the UEFA Champions League is fast approaching. Warren Zaire-Emery was the one positive of the match against Stade de Rennais on Sunday night although Gianluigi Donnarumma also saved us from further embarrassment, but we discuss how to get over this and why the UCL knockouts are quite separate matter from all this.

In this episode of PSG review we also look into the transfer window, can Saudi league save us and who are the rumoured arrivals and departures.

And finally we look into the PSG women and their D1 campaign so far. They also have transfer window open and PSG has made one recruitment and we are hoping for more. As is, by the way, the coach of this team Gérard Prêcheur.

Something to look forward to: we are working on a special episode about PSG's stadium plans. Will we stay at Parc and what will that arrangement look like or is it a new stadium build from the ground up and if so, where might that plot of land be?

Coupe de France is back & why Saudi Arabia?

In this episode of PSG review we discuss some topical matters around the club. Coupe de France is back and PSG was visiting Stade Gaston Petit to play against the third tier club La Berrichonne de Châteauroux for this round of 64 match. A very youthful squad with some great and some not so great performances. The whole analysis in this episode.

We also talk about the PSG's trip to Saudi Arabia. It's a fairly cynical affair with little to no sporting value during possibly one of the worst times of the season, but the decision seems to have been made.

Also on PSG review a quick look at the winter transfers and what could happen with those.

Mbappé's winner & Neymar's red as Ligue 1 returns

PSG was back in Ligue 1 action at Parc des Princes as Strasbourg paid us a visit on Wednesday evening. We will talk about who was playing and who wasn't and why. Some quite interesting adjustments as our young academy player El Chadaille Bitshiabu - a promising centre back - was playing as left back. How did he do, we talk about that among many other things in this episode of PSG review.

There starts to be some buzz around the forthcoming transfer window, some negotiations to extend contracts - Verratti already signed his dotted line and we also say goodbye to Jean Claude Blanc who is moving to a new job after being the quiet force behind PSG's project for the last decade.

The ethical guide for World Cup for PSG fans and beyond

As a PSG fan, I feel it is my duty to also talk about the World Cup in Qatar, because the club and the country are currently intertwined.

We try to compartmentalise the criticism in order to understand what is happening and being able to organise our thoughts. And what is a boycott? Is it something you fashion online two weeks before the actual tournament.

But Qatar World Cup isn’t outside of the context of our way of life or the football corruption. Unfortunately it is very much a logical extension of it. The last one was in Russia after the annexation of Crimea and also we have Olympics here and there, nevermind the Formula 1. But we - as so-called westerners - don’t need to look too far into other cultures, countries and continents. We are more than capable of being part of the problem as well.

This episode of PSG review aims to both bring together, but also categorise the different criticisms and issues with this World Cup and the environment it exists in.

Bayern in the UCL draw and how we got there

In this episode of PSG review we analyse the situation with UCL draw and the fact that PSG is facing Bayern Munich starting in February.

We also cover the match against FC Lorient which wasn't - and was never going to be - an easy one.

PSG women drop more domestic points due to the stubbornness or naive optimism in  goalkeeper choice and difficulties in putting the ball in no matter how dominant and dangerous they are. What they aren't, is decisive. But the hope is the last thing to die - still a lot of time to turn things around.

Three Parisian World Cup favourites in form & Galtier trying to fix PSG defence

This week we look into the UCL match against Maccabi Haifa as well as this weekend’s match against Troyes. PSG front three is putting in wonderful performances gearing up towards the World Cup which is an unknown territory with a lot of pressure for each of them. All of them - Messi, Neymar and Mbappé - carry much of the pressure for three favourite nations to lift the trophy. And at best, only one of them can lift it and even that is not guaranteed so we wonder what might be on the other side of Qatar.

We also have a look into what is happening with the women’s team - they have all to play for, but so far scoring has been an issue. They also don’t concede much, but to win, you need to score and we discuss what is up with that.

Who’s a real PSG fan?

This is a bit of an international break special. In the absence of men's club football, we look into the realness, the authenticity of a football fandom.

This is the type of show I didn’t think about doing, but either way, it came up online and I decided to explore what is the definition of a real and authentic PSG fan?

Spoiler alert: there is none or even if there is, it doesn’t matter. I am far from an authority on this subject so some will disagree, but all in all, I am just here to liberate those who doubt their legitimacy.

Top of the table PSG beat Lyon with a Messi goal

In this episode of PSG review we have a busy agenda as a lot is happening for both men and women. PSG men play both domestic Ligue 1 football as well as continental Champions League travelling all over the map and women are finishing their this summer’s transfer window soon, continuing the domestic D1 and starting their UWCL campaign as well. On top of all this, Luis Campos has had his first media outing with former PSG player Jérôme Rothen. All this is covered in English on our weekly PSG review podcast.

Sunday night in Lyon

PSG had a very professional performance in Lyon on Sunday night. A lot of action, great chances and initiative, the match ended 0-1 to our Parisians. Lyon did well defensively - in offence they had their pressure, but far fewer chances as you’d imagine from their possession near our box. We get to go to the international break as stand alone Ligue 1 leaders unbeaten both domestically as well as in Europe this season.

UCL trip to the apartheid country

The second group stage match of this UCL campaign was an effortfull affair to an apartheid country as our beloved Parisians made their way to Haifa, Israel. Long trip, security measures, hot night and poor quality pitch ensured that this was never going to be night to remember, but in the end, only three points count and that’s what we travelled home with.

Luis Campos speaks

PSG’s footballing advisor - de facto football director for the men's team, just by a different title - Luis Campos gave his first proper interview since taking charge of the team. Campos talked about the obvious talking points, but also a little bit about other things and we will tell you all you need to know about it.

Women’s team starting to shape up

Women’s mercato included genuinely very exciting news and some a little bit baffling ones. The good news first: Dutch midfielder Jackie Groening is now red and blue and that is wonderful news for this squad. We are once more cooking with gas on our midfield and not bad, but a little bit confusing news is that OL’s former keeper Sarah Bouhaddi was signed. She is not known as a friend of the club and in all fairness, her best days might be behind her, but she joins the team nevertheless and we trust that her former and again current coach Prêchaur knows what he's doing as well as her former team mate from the national team, Sabrina Delannoy.

Donnarumma finds his form + Neymar & Messi combine for a match winner

In this episode of PSG review we talk about the PSG's Ligue 1 match day 7 clash against Brest. A laboured win, but in the end, three points are what counts as Donnarumma saves a penalty and has a few other solid stops and Neymar and Messi combine for a world class finish to win the match.

We also discuss the women's team season starter against Soyaux and the opportunities for the rest of the transfer window.

Last topic in this show - there is something happening in Qatar, but what is is? Have a listen and make your own mind up, but there's been a lot of deals to another Qatari owned club and few even to Qatari league this summer. Is there any significance to it or is it just a coincidence.

PSG flying high with Mbappé's UCL brace

In this episode of PSG review we cover the start for our new Champions League campaign as we played against Juventus on Tuesday night.

We also explore and dissect the micro-scandal of PSG’s transportation issue - that is to say - why is the team flying to matches instead of using trains. This is a debate that has gotten heated in France this week and we are trying to understand why it happened, to what agenda and how to move forward in a way that we get some broader positive development and not just attack one organisation among many.

Galtier brings everyone together in a PSG masterclass against Lille

In this episode we talk about the Lille match on the road and how Christophe Galtier brought the whole team together after full week of media speculation and furore. We discuss the entire thing and also cover some matters regarding the financial fair play and how football media works.

Masterclass in Lille

One thing that is the most welcome change from last season and the reign of Pochettino, is that you look forward to watching PSG play. That it is a fun and entertaining event when the kick off happens. PSG didn't disappoint and in one week Galtier had brought the team together to play with a common purpose and philosophy. Kylian Mbappé scored the first goal from Messi assist when 8 seconds had been played. That is the new record in France and in the end, he got a hat trick for his troubles. Neymar got two goals also and some assists. Good match for everyone really.

Transfers

I am quite ready for the transfer window to close. At least then we will know who we have in our team and who we don't. Thilo Kehrer, Nathan Bitumazala and Eric Junior Dina Ebimpe have gone and no confirmation of any arrivals. Some rumours, but many of them look increasingly unlikely.

PSG women's team

PSG women have started their preseason matches in the AMOS Women's French Cup. Quite a positive display in the two first matches even if the results didn't go our way. The full analysis of this as part of this episode.

Messi & Neymar shine in the season opener

The new Ligue 1 campaign has finally started and Messi & Neymar shine in the season opener for PSG. I don’t think I enjoyed as many minutes of PSG football the entire last season as I did during the first half of this match against Clermont Foot on the road.

Clermont is not the favourite to compete on top half of the table this season so there is no need to get carried away, but at the same time, you can only play the team that you have in front of you on the night.

A very positive match with the best possible starting line up considering that Mbappé was unavailable with a little bit of muscle discomfort. Donnarumma was in goal, Marquinhos, Ramos, Kimpembe as back three, Hakimi and Mendes as wing backs, Verratti had his 380th match for PSG - now equal with Sylvain Armand and second most matches played only behind Jean Marc Pilorget who is 55 matches ahead. That is very doable fer Verratti and with him Vitinha on the midfield with his very first ever Ligue1 match.

In the absence of Mbappé, Sarabia accompanied Messi and  Neymar in attack.

PSG scored 5 goals and kept a clean sheet. The players are starting to find each other on the pitch and Messi & Neymar were shining in this season opener. Neymar got one goal and three assists and Messi scored twice while delivering one assist, but of course you need eleven players at the time on the pitch. The whole team functioned well. It was also immediately clear that as wingbacks, Hakimi and Mendes are much more at home than as full backs as they were last season. They were good, but now they are more central to the whole system.

Great match all in all and it was great to see these stars looking happy. This is a good place to start the new season.

In this episode we also talk about Fabián Ruiz - a Spanish midfielder from Napoli who is rumoured to be close to PSG. Who is he and how would he fit in. Navas could also be heading the opposite direction to Naples, but that is reportedly a separate negotiation.

The new Ligue 1 season + PSG arrivals and departures

In this episode of PSG review we take a closer look into the new Ligue 1 season and discuss the PSG arrivals and departures. Since the last episode we have had Nordi Mukiele and Renato Sanchez arriving as well as Gini Wijnaldum has been seen in Rome waiting for the finalisation of his loan deal over there. Idrissa Gana Gueye seem to also be on his way out and the same goes also for Thilo Kehrer. We also talk about the other rumours and what do they mean.

In the press conference yesterday, Christophe Galtier talked very candidly about PSG recruitment plans. There should be one centre back, one more midfielder and one forward on their way before the transfer window closes on the 1st of September. In this episode we talk who those players could be and throw in some big names as well as some future promises. We are talking about does PSG need Bernardo Silva or Frenkie de Jong or should we put our cash towards Kheprem Thuram trying to convince Nice to sell him.

Pochettino speaks post-PSG

Beside PSG arrivals and departures we also have a look into the past as we briefly address an interview given by our former PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino. Pochettino spoke to Argentianian news outlet Infobae providing some context to what happened and defending himself against not winning the UCL with PSG. I suppose very few people - I venture a guess - even the club directors held the Champions League against him. After all, in his first half a season PSG did pretty well in that competition. Whether that was because of him or despite him, we can all have our opinions, but his lack of courage to try and creativity to find problems lead PSG with some of the most exciting players in the world, to play incredibly unexciting football. More of this in the episode.

Women’s Division 1 starts in one month

We take a quick look at what is happening with PSG women. The old manager Didier Olle Nicole is finally out and the new one, the very seasoned Gérard Prêcheur is in. The D1 schedule was just released so we see how the season is looking and how we are facing our rivals OL.

The PSG undesirables

In this episode of PSG review we take a closer look into the group that is now known as the PSG undesirables. The players who aren’t part of the team’s plan going forward, but who have big money contracts and varying degrees of willingness to go.

How did we get here? We look into the PSG story of some of these players on the list. What are their prospects and what are the possible reasons for their reluctancy. Spoiler alert: money is one of them, but we look beyond it because these players are also people and as professional athletes, their career is shorter than the list of people financially depending on it. This might not be the case with everyone, but some players might feel the pressure.

This is a subject that I have been thinking about a lot this summer. As a fan, I want what is best for the team, but as a fellow human, I have to look beyond my irritation. These players are under contracts and as all of us in the working life know, contracts aren’t just there for the clubs, but for the employees also. Like these players.

So this is a very complicated topic. PSG’s undesirables. This was not something that any of them dreamt of growing up and putting the hours in on the pitch, while they were climbing the youth ladders and getting the big contract. But like said, the club needs to keep things moving and find altruistic solutions - ones that work for everyone - because you can negotiate a transfer with another club, get everything ready from business to business angle, but the player can say no, if they don’t want to go. And unless the offer is solid, in a place where they are willing to go, they can make their choice then.

In North American professional sport players are sold in a different way. There you can just find yourself in a plane to a new city with your belongings whether you wanted it or not, but in Europe, it works differently.

But in an infinite universe nothing is impossible. Some of these players could find a club. For example, Kurzawa who has appeared as the most hopeless case has changed agents and they seem to be working on potential deals. Also Wijnaldum looks like he could be on his way out after one season.

Hugo Ekitike to PSG, first match of the preseason & off to Japan

In this episode of PSG review we welcome Hugo Ekitike to PSG. A great French talent is on the verge of being announced - probably he has already been when you hear this. He was seen at the PSG HQ at the Factory on Friday night and his previous team Reims has already openly talked about his departure. Ekitike is one for the future, but already delivering in Ligue 1. Great signing.

We also cover all the other transfer news - the rumoured arrivals as well as the potential departures.

We of course talk about the first preseason friendly match against the Ligue 2 side Quevilly-Rouen Métropole. The match was what you would expect from the first friendly match, but it was interesting to see the new formation and of course the young players as well.

Finally we discuss who is and who isn’t going to PSG’s summer tour in Japan. We also discuss why that is and what the tour consists of.

We talk about the managerial situation as well as some of the news, the club hierarchy including our new Football Advisor Luis Campos and some of the rumours as well.

“PSG needs to earn back the trust of this team”: PSG review of the women’s team season 2021/2022

The drama, the setbacks, overcoming them, more drama, the press on our back, the clickbait, the wins, the clean-sheets, the accusations and the world class goals.

In this episode we talk about PSG women’s team and their season domestically as well as continentally.

With us we have Vale and Alphonso who are experts when it comes to this team and women’s football in general. It’s always great pleasure to talk to them and hear their insights.

PSG review of the season 2021/2022 and what are the missing pieces of the puzzle for future

We take a step back and look at what happened during this season that has now ended, how and possibly why it happened.

The good, the bad and the aesthetically less pleasing… we look at it all. We discuss “the curse” or lack thereof and finish on a positive note looking at where this season leaves us and what we have learned from it. What are the missing pieces of the PSG puzzle.

When we talk about mental coaching - how much do we actually have to make peace with? Two and half matches is the answer and we talk about that too.

It's a comprehensive look to a season that was.

Kylian Mbappé stays in Paris, goodbye Di Maria and what about Gana.

What a night at the Parc. No shortage of drama and emotions as Kylian extends, Di Maria waves goodbye and Ultras are back in full swing.

- Kylian Mbappé

- Angel Di Maria

- Idrissa Gana Gueye

That’s the agenda. A little bit about others in the mix, Leonardo, Pochettino and Luis Campos.

Things like that and a Cavani anecdote from 2019 that you probably forgot

PSG in a limbo: this season is largely over and the future isn’t here yet, so where are we now.

We talk through the weekend’s matches: men against Troyes at Parc and women travelling to Bordeaux, but perhaps more importantly we line up a bunch of questions about the future direction of all things Parisian and try to think of possible scenarios.

We coin the term “Mbapdates” for the never ending and constantly changing Mbappé updates and give a very special shout out to Leandro Paredes who made some unnecessary comments to the press.

PSG in media & Ultras salute women at packed Parc

In this episode of PSG review we discuss how the media sees us and why.

The difficult, but beautiful European story ends for our women’s team as Parc des Princes break the attendance record in French women’s football.

Le Classique: Neymar shines in the tepid night of football & women get ready for the season highlight

In this episode of PSG review we talk a little bit about our Ultras and their protests, what is behind them and why and of course, the main subject at hand is Le Classique against Olympique de Marseille.

Three points are three points and no injuries. We are also inevitably approaching the tenth French title in PSG’s history, but this match was a relapse after some exciting examples of better football.

Our women’s team beat GPSO 92 Issy in a dress rehearsal for UWCL semifinals against our inhouse nemesis OL.

I mentioned an interview with the newly re-elected president of Collectif Ultras Paris, Romain Mabille and it is here (let the google translate if needs be): https://www.francebleu.fr/sports/football/entretien-psg-romain-mabille-de-retour-a-la-presidence-du-collectif-ultras-paris-1650105798

FINALLY: Mbappé, Neymar & Messi click & the team enjoys their best night of the season, women stumble domestically, but continue to UWCL semifinals.

This brings me so much joy - our attack finally clicks, we have three at the back with Ramos and everyone has the fighting spirit.

We have enjoyed the best night of football by PSG this season. I know it is a bit too late, but let’s play the hand we have been dealt.

We also discuss women’s UWCL qualification to the semifinals as well as their minor stumble in D1. Still all to play for in all three competitions.

PSG can win UCL by prioritising Ligue 1

QSI has been at the helm of the PSG project for over a decade now and this season - still unravelling - has been the apex of star power. Our team looks like Nasser is playing career mode, but both the results as well as the performance on the pitch have been somewhat underwhelming.

In this episode of PSG review I am offering my proverbial two cents and suggest that the best way for PSG to achieve the continental glory is to stop obsessing over it and refocus its energy to becoming a deadly Ligue 1 team.

For the details, you have to listen to the episode.

Things fall apart: PSG’s men struggle, women get ready for Europe while the youth team exits it

Oh dear, what a mess we are in.

We can only look into the future because the present isn’t great.

We talk about men struggling in Monaco, youth team exiting Europe and while women are ready for their Champions League match, there are some key injury concerns.

Don't shoot the messenger.

Back at Parc after Madrid meltdown: Messi & Neymar get a cold shoulder while Nasser has run out of goodwill, women stagnate and the future of European football.

This episode of PSG review covers the men’s return to Paris and Ligue 1 after the Madrid meltdown. We talk about the match, the statement and reaction by the ultras and some rumours around the future of this team.

We cover women’s D1 match against Montpellier and finally we talk a little bit about the bigger picture of European football and continue on the topic started in an earlier episode which is sports washing projects and we expand that to the rumoured resurrection of European super league.

We built a marketing project, but forgot to build a football team.

You know what this episode is about. We work through some of our concerns, frustrations and grievances like it was festivus all over again.

We are working through emotions and big ideas - come join me.

Did you see that ludicrous display? Men uninspired, women clinical & youth at the boiling point. Plus what to do with Ramos.

This episode of PSG review is pretty full of action and opinions. We give unsolicited advice to the club leaders as the men’s team take their second loss in three matches in between the UCL round of 16. We talk about PSG Feminin qualifying to the semifinals of the Coupe de France as well as the Under 19s seeing themselves to the next round of Youth League after a heated collision with Sevilla. In the end, we ponder: what on earth should we do with Sergio Ramos. When is the right time to say that things aren’t what they were supposed to be.

Front three finding its rhythm with back three in the mix, women are back and geopolitical turmoil as well as sports-washing of Russia

This is a slightly different one. I don't quote Chomsky and Malcolm X in every episode, but needs must.

Principally this episode is about St Etienne match with its interesting turns of events and the return of our women's team from the international break, but we also have to address a few other topical matters. Matters such as sports-washing.

Have we been played by Russia's sports project?

What can we as a football community do better?

What is simply unacceptable?

I mean, these aren't entirely rhetorical questions since I am trying to answer them in this episode.

It's a good one, don't miss.

Post-UCL night to forget in Nantes: our stars struggle to score a goal, Kombouaré gets it right and the referee gets it wrong.

In this episode of PSG review we talk about PSG's visit to Nantes and how we have struggled in recent years with rotating as well as post-UCL football. We analyse the match and also talk about refereeing and what are its challenges. Are we allowed to question the Ligue 1 refereeing or is that beyond us because PSG is the wealthiest club in it.

Parking the Madrid bus at Parc des Princes : an unambitious Spanish side with a game plan stolen from the bottom-half Ligue 1 side

PSG Ultras sending strong messages, two victories in one Parisian night and Jordan kit so white

On this episode of #PSGreview we discuss some recents PSG topics

- Stade de Rennais visit Parc and park the bus

- It's almost UCL time

- PSG women emphatic win is actually a small step backwards in the title hunt

- PSG's fourth kit of the season is out. Is there any need for four kits and what should we do about it

It's a lot of stuff, but as you know, there is never a dull day at the PSG office. Hope you enjoy the episode and feel free to follow us @PSGHelsinki on Twitter.
