On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown between the 12th and the 16th February 2024 (Episodes #11,186 - 11,193).

It's been a long while coming, but Maria, Gary and Mrs Crawshaw finally wake up to Liam's bullying this week, and not before time either as the lad's thoughts are starting to go to some very dark places... Meanwhile, Bobby and Lauren are feeling the love on Valentine's Day, and although it felt like we were getting close, we're still in the dark about who her mystery caller could be - but that doesn't stop us from theorising! Also this week, Billy gives Paul a Valentine's to remember, Tracy's up for a rematch with Tommy O but he's not playing ball, and Nick and Leanne get engaged - though by the look of all that fervent squinting from Nick, we're not sure his heart's really in the game!

In The Kabin, we celebrate Maureen Lipman's win at the TV Choice Awards, and after reading out a bit more listener feedback, we round off the show with a Kabin Extra, where we chat about this week's spoilery cast announcement.

Another interrupted schedule for Corrie has meant more podcast chaos this week, but we're here at least, chatting about the goings on in Weatherfield between the 5th and the 11th February (Episodes #11180 - 11185).

Yeah, not exactly a vintage week that one, was it? With the majority of the main players this week coming from the pool of characters that we feel apathetic towards at best, it was going to need to do a lot to hold our attention, and sadly, it really did fall short. You had Steve being his usual pillocky self as he fawns over the guy who, unbeknownst to him, has been having it off with his Mrs; Simon getting smashed before crashing Leanne's car into a bollard; Sarah continuing to pursue her delusional dream of living happily ever after with Damon and Bethany using her well tuned investigative journalism skills to get the dirt on her neighbours for Chit Chat - is anyone going to break it to her that the soap mags already had the scoop on the catfishing story six months ago..?

It's Listener Question time again! This time, we're chatting about two topics very dear to our hearts: Gladiators and Coronation Street beating EastEnders. Well, maybe not beating them per se, more like completely ripping them off in the hope that Corrie will get some of the buzz that the women of Walford got at the height of The Six storyline last year, as we try and pick half a dozen Corrie ladies who we'd want to put front and centre of the show in 2023 in their very own murder mystery plot. And as for the Gladiators part? Well that's just us having fun trying to come up with Gladiator names that we'd give our favourite Corrie characters if they were to don a spandex leotard for an evening and bash each other about with a pugil stick - or at least a roll of fabric from the factory. We reckon we actually came up with some good ideas for that one, but as always, we'd love to hear your own suggestions, so do write in and let us know if you have any!

Only two episodes of Corrie this week, so we're coming at you early! Today's podcast covers the goings on in Weatherfield between the 29th and the 31st January (Episodes #11176 - 11179).

The much teased affair storyline between Tracy and ex-Weathy County player Tommy Orpington finally kicked off this week - and we were pleasantly surprised to find ourselves not wanting to give it the red card! Same too with the Bailey story - we hadn't been too fussed with all the gambling stuff before Christmas, but the revelation on Monday night that Ed knowingly let the builder's yard burn down was a great twist, and we particularly enjoyed everything that Dee-Dee added to those scenes at Number 3 too. As for everything else this week - Bethany's secret investigations, Simon getting a job at the Bistro, Moses deciding to go to London - we weren't too fussed about it, but overall, it was a pretty solid week!

In The Kabin, we chat about the new Corrie-endorsed campaign that's been running in the ad breaks this week to raise awareness of all the good work done by the MND Association, and we round off the show with more of your fabulous feedback.

We last profiled Peter Barlow way back in Episode #40 of the podcast, and now here we are, eleven years later, to catch up with what he's been doing in the time since. We take a look at the moments that have shaped him as a character and reminisce on some of his most memorable stories, from his stint as Rovers landlord to his numerous brushes with death and, we're sorry to say, his recent departure. Let's just keep our fingers crossed he'll be setting sail back to Weatherfield at some point in the future, because we've got a feeling his story's not quite over yet!

On our latest episode, we chat about what went on in Weatherfield between the 22nd and the 24th January. Well, not just Weatherfield, actually, thanks to some lovely - but heartbreaking - scenes shot out on location in Wednesday's episode as Bernie, Paul and Gemma take to the road in a camper van. Now that so many people seem to know about Paul's assisted dying plans, does that mean it's looking more likely that that's the way he's going to go..? Back on the Street, the arrival of bailiffs at the Baileys' sets off a chain of events that leaves Michael in grave danger, whilst a fight between Dylan and Liam leads to the latter being suspended from school.

Not a whole lot of news to discuss in this week's Kabin segment aside from a Dancing on Ice update and more details about the new Drama Queens series being revealed, and we finish things off with more of your listener feedback.

We've had the Conversation Street Awards, the review of the year, and our predictions for 2024, but no January would be complete here on Conversation Street without the Bobbins Awards, a podcast where we take a light hearted look at everything that happened in the past twelve months that.. shall we say.. didn't quite hit the mark. From the forgettable (or just plain irritating!) new characters to story beats that left us scratching our heads or simply groaning in disbelief, you can't beat a bit of cathartic bobbins bashing to bring some closure to the end of the year. So sit back and enjoy us picking Corrie to pieces in a way that only true, nerdy fans can, in the Bobbins Awards 2023!

On this week's podcast, we have a natter about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 15th and the 19th January (Episodes #11164 - 11169).

Ever since Joseph's ailments were put down to Gemma's overactive imagination at the tail end of last year, we've been wondering what was actually causing him to be sick, and this week, we finally find out: Corrie's Wheel Of Misfortunes To Raise Awareness Of has landed on Lyme disease! Pen and paper out, everyone - Dr Gaddas will be giving you a test. Meanwhile, Adam takes the law into his own hands in an attempt to get Damon out of his and Sarah's life - but will he be able to engineer an early release for Harvey first? Also this week, Lauren dumps her mystery man, Tyrone heads off to Italy and Mason continues to make Liam's life hell.

Not a whole lot of news to discuss in The Kabin this week, but the appearance on Amazon of an interactive novel set on Coronation Street in 1983 has certainly got us intrigued! We round off the show with more of your feedback, including hopefully some good news for the US Corrie watchers out there who haven't been getting any episodes on Hulu lately!

We're doing things a little bit differently this year, as we spilt the discussion into three parts: first, we discuss what we're praying hard is going to happen on the cobbles; next, we give some quick predictions about what we think actually will happen; then finally we let our creative juices flow and pitch some storylines that we'd green light if we were in the producer's chair. And that chair has been empty since Iain Macleod's promotion, as far as we know..! (Just sayin'!)

In our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 9th and the 12th January (Episodes #11158 - 11163).

This week's Corrie started strong but ended with a bit of a whimper, in our opinion. With Paul now having decided that rather than letting nature take its course, he wants to be able to end things Hayley Cropper style, his mission on Monday was to find people to give him a lend him a hand. Bringing Abi into a story for a bit more emotional weight is never a bad thing in our book, but the real high point of the week for was when Billy swore on the Bible that he'd help him out when the time came. Elsewhere this week, we had Cassie infiltrating Terry's house in the the puppy farm story, which the pair of us have got quite differing opinions of, but if there's one thing we could both agree on, it's that the public service announcement that was Friday's episode very much missed the mark if they were trying to get us to worry about whether Aadi would pull through. Check those carbon monoxide alarms, people!

Up next on the podcast, we spend a good deal of time chatting about the big news this week that Iain Macleod has been given the Executive Producer role we saw advertised back in September. We've seen a lot of fans unhappy with this announcement, but we try and look at it from both sides - and ponder who the as yet unannounced (or maybe undecided?) Producer will now be!

There's no Corrie on tonight, so if you're looking for something to fill that gap in your Corrie schedule, here's Episode #609 a bit early for you, where we chat about what went on between the 31st December and the 3rd January (Episodes #11151 - 11157).

After a good few months out of action, the Rovers triumphantly reopened its doors in time for the New Year festivities this week, but with Daisy already trying to call the shots behind the bar, it's not going to be long before those fireworks being set off as the clock struck twelve won't be the only ones see at the Rovers... And speaking of rovers returning, the comebacks continue to come thick and fast this week, as two significant people in Sarah's life show up on the cobbles within 24 hours of each other: Bethany and Damon! Has the gangster gone good, and what was that secretive phone call of Bethany's about? We share our thoughts! There were also some more fantastic scenes in the MND story on Wednesday - not just the moment when Paul has his fall, but also the fun bits between him and David, too. Why did the writers have to wait this long to remember they used to be friends?

Unsurprisingly for the New Year, there's not really a whole lot to cover in terms of news this week, so after our bumper Street Talk segment, we finish off the show with a bit more of your listener feedback.

If you spent any amount of time online in places where Corrie is discussed over the past week, you'll have seen some quite lively debate about one or more of the following topics: Was the half hour trip to Weatherfield on the 25th just a bit boring, or was it a classic, old-school episode where we just get to enjoy seeing what our favourite characters are up to on Christmas morning? Did the Boxing Day two-hander provide a suitable exit to the legacy character of Peter, or did Carla insisting he hopped on a plane despite neither of them really wanting him to leave not really make any sense? And of course, is new chapter Bobby a breath of fresh air, or is he just plain annoying? In our latest podcast, we chat about the Corrie episodes shown in the UK between the 18th and the 22nd December (Episodes #11,139 - 11,144).

It's the week before Christmas, and even though it doesn't necessarily feel like it's building up to anything especially explosive on the big day, Friday's trip to Weatherfield did at least get us invested in Ed's gambling story for the first time, and it's certainly going to be cringe inducing to watch him being the only one at No. 3 to open a gift on Monday morning surrounded by his loving family! Meanwhile, Jenny and Daisy resort to underhand measures to get their mitts on the Rovers, and we discuss our stance on their deception. Also this week, we share our thoughts about the stagnation of certain businesses on the street as it seems like things are going to be back to to status quo at the salon, and it looks like Peter's getting ready to set sail - but can Carla's mysterious Christmas gift get him to change his mind?

It's a bit later than usual, but we're finally here with Episode #606 of the podcast, where we chat about what went on in Weatherfield between the 11th and the 15th December (Episodes #11133 - 11137).

That was actually a pretty decent week this week, wasn't it? And who'd have thought that the Ryan, Daniel and Daisy story, which we've been somewhat cool on recently, would be the reason for its quality? Daniel has always been at his most watchable when he's let his pompous, entitled and manipulative side loose, and we certainly saw a lot of that this week as he led Daisy up the garden path knowing full well that he was well aware of her bedroom shenanigans with Ryan. There were definitely shades of angry 80s Ken in Rob Mallard's performance this week, and we loved it! Also this week, the comparably low stakes drama of Stephen's journal led to a surprise callback to a nearly 40 year old story for Gail, and the goings on at Number 9 led to more brilliant Evelyn moments. Even the Stu storyline had a few interesting twists in!

Before we get onto that, though, we chat for a while about our trip to London last weekend, when we attended a live Q&A and book signing with Corrie legend Julie Hesmondhalgh! Not only did we have a chance to talk with her and her husband, Corrie writer Ian Kershaw, but we also got to chat with her mate Connie Hyde, who played Gina Seddon between 2017 and 2019 - who as you might remember was a bit of a favourite character of ours back then!

Up next is the Street Talk segment, where we have a natter about what went on in Weatherfield in the past week. Christmas came early to No. 5 on Friday, ahead of Bernie's imminent sentencing - and trust Chesney to come and pour cold water over the festivities by bringing round a woman from child protection to investigate Joseph's mysterious bouts of sickness! Also this week, we're introduced to Ed and Ronnie's dad Sarge, who seems like a fun character - though of course you can't be part of the Bailey clan at the moment without immediately hitting secretly broke Ed up for some cash and making his gambling problems spiral even further! Elsewhere on the cobbles, Lauren and Sabrina make amends, Asha continues to be ignorant of Nina's problem with her Isla obsession and opportunity comes knocking on Ryan's door.

His dreams of hitting the big time with his band may never have come true, but for now, here's Vernon's hour in the spotlight.

On our latest podcast, we chat about what went on in Coronation Street between the 20th and the 24th November (Episodes #11115 - 11120).

This week, the vaping story ramped right up, with poor little Liam becoming the victim of Mason's bullying campaign. Elsewhere on the Street, Jenny and Daisy resolve to get the Rovers back to its former glory, and speaking of Glory, things aren't looking too good for her getting that Wendy house on Christmas Day if Ed's money problems continue to spiral. But hey, at least she'll still get Christmas on the cobbles, which definitely isn't guaranteed for Bernie, the way things are going!

To be honest, we didn't find a whole lot of talking points from this week's Corrie, so we got into the Kabin segment a fair bit sooner than usual, but even then, there were slim pickings amongst the news stories of the week - but hey, at least the acid story picked up a couple of gongs at the RTS North West Awards last night, so that's worth a mention! This Thursday marks 60 years since Doctor Who first aired on TV, and to celebrate the occasion, this week's bonus podcast is dedicated to discussing the links between it and our favourite soap. After a lengthy discussion about our own personal histories of watching Doctor Who, including some of our favourite characters and episodes over the years, we chat about some of the many actors and show runners that it's shared with Corrie over the years - and uncover a few surprises along the way!

On our latest podcast, we chat about what went on in Weatherfield between the 13th and the 17th November 2023 (Episodes #11109 - 11114).

Another strong week for Corrie this week, building up to an especially brilliant second half of Friday's episode, much like last week. We must admit we weren't expecting a return to Amy's rape story from earlier in the year, but we were on the edge of our seats during the scenes at the club on Friday, and we've been loving seeing the blossoming romance with Aadi too. Speaking of romances, we enjoyed watching more beautifully bittersweet scenes for Paul and Billy, but the real star of that particular storyline this week was Bernie, with Jane Hazelgrove showing yet again what a fantastic dramatic actress she can be. Also this week, Dylan's selling vapes for Mason, it's the end of an era for Audrey (and don't forget Vin Diesel!) and will the Rovers be redeveloped into flats? Well obviously not, but it's still nice to see a return for that particular storyline after a good few weeks in limbo.

This week's bonus podcast is a listener question segment! Firstly, we ponder which existing character could be Corrie's next villain. We've seen a handful of goodies turn bad in recent years - Gary and Stephen being the most obvious examples - but who else could we see turning to the dark side? Next up, we chat about characters who rarely interact with each other but who we think could be interest to watch teaming up to meet some kind of shared goal. That might mean potential business partners, a pair to solve a mystery a duo who we think might have shared interests or principles.. or maybe we just think they'd work well on screen together!

In our latest episode of the podcast, we chat about what went on in Weatherfield between the 6th and the 10th November 2023 (Episodes #11103 - 11108).

We love a hyped up, 'special' week of Corrie as much as the next fan, but sometimes, an episode comes along out of the blue that completely catches you off guard and blows you away with its unexpected brilliance, and Friday's trip to Weatherfield was absolutely that. Throughout the story of Paul's heartbreaking decline, Corrie has made sure to retain the lighthearted, comedic touches to balance out the darkness, and the combination of Billy and Paul's bath-time escapade and Bernie and Abi's dimly lit chat at No. 5 delivered in spades - a delight to watch and discuss for this episode of the podcast! There were other stories too this week, of course - the factory strike was a nice callback to the days of Ida Clough and co downing tools to stick it to Baldwin, and Mason is proving to be a very watchable baddie in Dylan's bullying storyline - but it's the MND story that's got us the most hooked. 6 to 12 months to go, too! BGT Week 2024 for the tragic conclusion, perhaps..?

In the Kabin segment, we share our joy at the news that friend of the podcast Charlie De Melo will be appearing in one of this year's Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials, and we celebrate the ongoing success of Ellie Leach on Strictly Come Dancing - and yes, we've actually seen some of her routines this week! For this week's bonus podcast, we chat about the character of Gordon Clegg, following the recent passing of actor Bill Kenwright. Gordon may only have been in just over 100 episodes of Corrie over the years, but with appearances stretching between 1968 and 2012, you could certainly say he was one of the show's longest-running characters. Plus, he was the centre of one of Weatherfield's most scandalous stories of the 70s... so of course, there's plenty for us to sink our teeth into!

On the 600th edition of the podcast, we chat about what went on in Weatherfield between the 30th October and the 3rd November (Episodes #11097 - 11102).

Did anyone else absolutely love Monday's episode? The Halloween party at the Bistro, Peter and Audrey's reconciliation chat, Tim and Steve's fishing trip.. a script that ticked all the right boxes for what Corrie should be, as far as we're concerned. The rest of the week was more so-so (we did have to sit through more of the Stu and Eliza story after all), but the focus on Daniel piecing together the clues about Ryan and Daisy's time at the hotel definitely helped keep things interesting for the most part. As well as that, we had Courtney's abrupt dumping of Aadi (though Michael was sure something more sinister was afoot!), a couple of cute scenes between Sam and Hope and even little bit more Toyah - who Simon DEFINITELY seems to suspect is having an affair with Peter... All in all, it gave us plenty to chat about!

Up next on the podcast is The Kabin, where we have a lengthy chat about the news that the British Soap Awards have been cancelled next year - without any proper reason being given! Yes, the debate about just how much guilt Peter should be feeling about seeing off Stephen continues to rage on this week, but even though it looks like the police won't be punishing him this time, he certainly seems to be giving himself a good flogging in his own mind... Also this week, Sam invites Hope to the Bistro's Halloween do, Courtney continues to duck out of anything that seems remotely like work, and Ryan and Daisy manage to avoid giving into their carnal desires... but for how long?

There's sad news in the Kabin as we chat about the news that Corrie alumnus Bill Kenwright has passed away, and we finish off the show with more of your thoughts about last week's Corrie.

Love him or hate him, Stephen Reid and his bumbling string of murders have certainly been the hottest topic on the lips of Corrie viewers for the past year or so, and now that his time on the show has finally come to an end, we take the opportunity to take a look back at his full story. From his early days as the suave businessman who caught Alma Baldwin's eye in the mid-90s to the killer Canuck of modern day Corrie, Stephen has certainly been on quite a journey - especially for a character who's been in fewer than 300 episodes in total! Super Soap Week is here again, and this year they're dedicated to the demise of Corrie's killer Canuck, Stephen Reid. Though we must admit we were somewhat disappointed the answer turned out to be Rufus, we still had a blast watching this week's episodes, and the misdirection and twists that Corrie continued to throw at us over the course of the week certainly kept us on our toes! Will Tim be found before it's too late? Did Stephen have a fitting end? Will Peter become the latest of Ken's kids to get away with murder? For this week's bonus podcast, we've borrowed the format we use for our Patreon exclusive episodes each month and are counting down our individual Top 5 characters Stephen Reid should have killed off. (Plus we thought that if the likes of Elaine or Tim were on the longlist, the pair of us would probably end up making very similar choices!) Twenty years to the week after Todd's famous 'wrong move' that saw him attempt to kiss Nick, Coronation Street finally had its first gay wedding day this week (or at least the first that didn't end in a jilting or a pesky factory roof landing on one half of the couple's head..). Despite the tragic fact that this marriage can't possibly end happily ever after due to Paul's condition, the day itself was joyous, and the resultant fallout between Billy and the Church led to some great discussion on the podcast too! We also had a fair bit to say about the marketing of vapes to children too, as Corrie begins its latest teen bullying / peer pressure story focusing on Liam, Dylan and new bad boy Mason. Also this week, a few unlikely coincidences (that are actually ten a penny on Corrie, to be fair) lead to Stephen realising that he needs to leave Weatherfield ASAP, Aadi's hissy fit nearly sees him getting arrested and Stu tries to dig up some dirt on Dom.

It's last orders in the Rovers this week as Jenny and co are turfed onto the cobbles by their new bosses at Waterford. Even though we're feeling pretty damn sure most things will be going right back to the status quo before too long, Corrie still did a great job of keeping us gripped this week - and of course the fact that Stephen is also involved can only be a good thing in our book! Elsewhere on the cobbles, Paul has a bit of a spiritual revelation at Shelley's funeral, and with the Bistro all booked up for Monday, surely, SURELY nothing can get in the way of Corrie finally having its first gay wedding? Also this week, the truth about Ryan's O-vidz double life comes out (much to Sean's excitement!), Dev and Darren spectacularly fail to split up Aadi and Courtney, and Cassie proves to be quite the asset at the garage!

If you've been following our socials, you'll have seen that the reason for our late upload this week was because Gemma had to have her appendix out on Monday morning, and she's been a little bit knackered! In our latest podcast, we have a good old natter about what went on in Corrie between the 11th and the 15th September (Episodes #11055 - 11060).

It was a bit of a mixed bag this week, we thought, with a few great shocks and surprises sitting alongside some plots that really struggled to engage us - chief among which was the Stu and Eliza story. A stroppy pre-teen, a deadbeat dad trying to sell his daughter, a tussle with a copper leading to a character's brief arrest.. it all kind of feels like it has been done before, and with characters we cared more about, too! On the flip side, though, you've got Paul's continuing decline and that gut punch of an ending to Friday's episode - Peter Ash's performance continues to really impress us, and we're sure there are more heartbreaking scenes to come! Also this week, Dee-Dee goes on a date, the truth is out about Aadi and Courtney and Roy finds himself with a new house guest!

There are a couple of big talking points in The Kabin this week, as Coronation Street announces a fan event in the new Visitor Centre next month, whilst a job advert for a new executive producer that's come online recently suggests it could be all change at the top soon! Last weekend, we travelled up north for a couple of days to see Sue Devaney perform in her one-woman show, Didn't You Used To Be Somebody?, which was performed at HOME as part of Manchester's first annual Recoverist month. While we were there, we also popped into a few Corrie filming locations we hadn't visited before and even stopped off at a cafe run by Simon Gregson's wife! A busy old weekend, then, and we had a great time chatting over our favourite moments!

It's the week of the brewery buyout, and despite (or maybe because of..?) how many times Debbie tried the reassure Ronnie that everything would go to plan for him, we had a sneaking suspicion that it wasn't going to be all plain sailing. Surprisingly, by the end of the week, it looks like the Baileys are actually rolling in it - though if Ed were to reflect on any of the lines from that Flint woman's book of inspirational quotes right now, it would be 'a fool and his money are soon parted'... Meanwhile, after sniffing round her for the best part of a year, Stephen finally makes the move on Jenny - does he have his sights set on the Rovers next? Also this week, Stu comes to a decision about Dom's access to Eliza, Carla comes surprisingly close to figuring out the true source of her psychotic episodes, and Billy and Paul have a go at skinny dipping.

For this week's bonus podcast, we chat about modern Corrie legend Evelyn Plummer, a character who is unbelievably about to hit her five-year anniversary on the show! It was certainly a massive coup for Coronation Street to secure an actress like Maureen Lipman back in 2018, and comparisons to former Weatherfield battleaxes would be inevitable. Five years on and Evelyn is easily one of our favourite characters on the show, has shown what makes her different from the likes of Blanche and Ena, and we had a blast reminiscing about some of her best moments so far when we recorded this episode. We were excited to see Evelyn and Cassie return to the cobbles this week, and the story of Tyrone's real mum reconnecting with him was just as gripping as it was when it was left off a few months ago, helped in no small part by some brilliant performances by the main cast members. With Cassie now staying at No. 9, we're sure there'll be plenty of opportunity for drama with the neighbours in the next few weeks, but will Tyrone be able to forgive Evelyn? Meanwhile Stephen manages to wriggle his way out of another tight corner when he successfully snags the telltale tiepin from Lou's room - but he might regret making an enemy of Peter in the process. Also this week, Lauren makes a surprise proposition to Roy, Debbie discovers some surprising news about the brewery and Ryan's roid rage rises.

This week was the very definition of a mixed bag! We're big fans of Spider and Toyah and have missed their lack of presence on the show for most of the year, but when the powers that be decide to include them, this is what we get? We absolutely have sympathy for everything Gemma's going through too, and as for Ryan's story... yeah, it's going through all the expected beats. But hey, at least they've remembered Michelle exists! Did anyone else find Corrie to be absolutely fantastic this week? There were revelations aplenty, like Sarah's pregnancy, the truth about the actual identity of 'Bec' and of course the fact that Ty's birth mum Cassie is actually alive and well. Then you had some brilliant scenes such as that nine-minute hospital room epic between Evelyn and Cassie, and Shona getting emotional over Max's victim statement. Stephen's increasing frustrations with both Owen and Elaine made us chuckle, and the hopelessness of Paul's tragic tale gave way to some heartwarming moments like the left-handed darts match and Dee-Dee's stories about how her faith got her through some tough times in LA. An absolute banger of a week, which led to a particularly lengthy Street Talk segment!

Not a whole lot of news this week, but we did have one or two items to cover like the introduction of some real life Roy's Rolls rolls to the market at Co-op (why did that great idea take so long?) and then we round the episode off with some feedback.

It's the end of June, which can only mean one thing: our annual look at the first half of the year so far! It feels like it's been a long time coming, but we finally get to see Elaine and Stephen's new flat this week, which, very fittingly for everyone's favourite deadly Canadian uncle, immediately becomes the scene of an attempted murder. Tim's suspicions are raised thanks to a slip-up on Stephen's part involving a trip to the shops for some bread - can Tim use his loaf and suss Stephen out before Elaine is toast? Meanwhile the consent storyline comes to a climax as Aaron leaves Weatherfield in shame - despite still not admitting what he did to Amy. It's an exit that some viewers may find somewhat unsatisfying as it seems like he got away with his crime - but we personally loved it! Also this week, Isabella continues to grate, Max and Bec become an item and Sarah fights for her marriage.

Up next on the podcast it's the Kabin, where we react to the news that a certain nonagenarian Corrie star jumped out of a plane last weekend! We round off the show with a bit of listener feedback.

Isn't it strange how much hype and expectations for a week can affect your enjoyment of it? We'd built ourselves up for the BGT episodes so much that we couldn't help but be a little disappointed last week, but with that build up removed for this week, we were able to simply enjoy them for what they were - a solid set of eps that were super tense and dramatic at times and laugh out loud funny at others. There've been a good number of bad mothers over the years on Corrie, and Sarah's actions this week put her comfortably among them as she tried to convince little Harry that he was seeing things when he reported witnessing a full-on snoggeroo between her and Damon. With the affair now out in the open, surely a pregnancy has got to be on the horizon? Meanwhile, the Baileys' encounter with two of their snobby ex-neighbours sets the wheels in motion for a proper classic Corrie comedy caper. On top of all that, we've got the surprising verdict in Justin's trial, Carla's resignation from the factory for what feels like the millionth time (and a possible next victim for Stephen in the form of new boss Owen?) and our first encounter with a resident of the precinct flats. All in all, a great week!

There's some heartbreaking news in The Kabin this week as Corrie legend Julie Goodyear is diagnosed with dementia, but there's also lots to celebrate too, including the British Soap Award results and the opening of the new exhibition space at The Coronation Street Experience. Britain's Got Talent week is here again, and you know what that means for Corrie: stunts galore, massive twists and long-running stories reaching their climax... except that didn't really happen this year. We've seen a wide range of opinions on this year's 'big week', and although we sit somewhere in the middle, we must admit that it didn't quite live up to our hopes for the week. Yes, Gemma's wedding was lovely and the dress was absolutely perfect for her; yes, the performances from the various actors reacting to Paul's news were all spot on; and yes, the courtroom drama ramped up nicely on Friday. But we still can't feel like things could have been bigger, especially when it came to the acid attack story, which felt it took a little too long to get going - plus the less said about that kiss at the end of the week the better! Come on Daisy - it took us a long time to warm up to you as a character... please don't spoil it!

This episode was recorded from our AirBnB in Sale as we're up north again for the British Soap Awards this weekend. After a long day's drive (and no time for dinner before recording!), we didn't have the energy for news and feedback for this week, so it's a Street Talk only episode this time. This week's podcast really was a case of finding some light in the darkness because by 'eck, wasn't that a grim set of episodes? Not that the scripts or performances were poor or anything, but it just seemed like there wasn't a lot of happiness for anyone! Top of the misery list, of course, was Paul, whose worsening condition causes him to be a bit of a party pooper at the stag and hen do on Wednesday. We just hope that Gemma and Chesney can have a happy wedding next week before the news of Paul's MND spreads further... Also this week, Craig and Tim were left teary eyed when Faye made the decision to do a classic Corrie flit and move to Slough with Miley and Jackson. Meanwhile, Roy suffers angina attacks, Hope's dumped by Sam after she sabotages Eliza's birthday party and Daisy is getting anxious about next week's big court case.

In The Kabin, we take a look at the nominations in this year's NTAs, report a lengthy delay in the publication of Maggie Sullivan's next Coronation Street novel and uncover some evidence online that a head swap may soon be on the cards for one of the Corrie kids! Back in Episode #101 of the podcast, we ran a character profile of a young Faye Windass and her first few years on the Street. For this week's bonus show, as Faye leaves Weatherfield, sloping off to Slough with Jackson and Miley, we take a look at what she's been up to in the nine years since. A teenage pregnancy, a prison sentence, early menopause, and of course being caught up as a minor character in the villainous tales of Pat Phelan and Geoff Metcalfe... it's been an eventful decade for Faye, and one that has given us plenty to chat about as we say a one final goodbye to her.

On our latest podcast, we chat about what went on in Weatherfield between the 15th and the 19th May 2023 (Episodes #10954 - 10959).

Overall, we felt this was a bit of a 'treading water' week, to be honest - not necessarily poor episodes (although the heavy focus on Faye and Craig on Friday definitely wasn't that exciting) - but fairly slow plot development or things we felt we'd seen before. Daisy's still pretending to be Crystal, Paul's still wanting to keep his diagnosis a secret, Max is still finding prison life hard, Faye still can't decide whether to leave Craig or not... Sure, the Amy story has taken a bit of a turn, what with Abi now believing her and Eric suing her for her so-called libellous comments about his son, and Linda returning for the run-up to the wedding was fun, but overall.. just not much for us to get our teeth into, discussion-wise! Still, we're only a few weeks away from BGT week, so hopefully there's some exciting stuff on the horizon!

The big news this week, of course, was the official announcement of the Coronation Street Experience including its new exhibition space. Yes, we'd already chatted about that in our recent bonus podcast, but that didn't stop us getting excited about it all over again here! Thank goodness for the lovely friendship he's fostered with Dee Dee, which has been the one shining light in this tale of woe! And speaking of misery, things have been pretty bleak for Amy this week too. Not only does she have to come face to face with Aaron at Nina's birthday party, but she also ends up in hospital after drinking herself unconscious in Victoria Gardens! Thank goodness she had serial passer outer Summer there to share some tips for staying alive! Christina wasn't wrong when she said that wedding was cursed, was she? In a twist that frankly makes Mavis and Derek's double jilting look like nothing more than a minor hiccup, Justin returned to the cobbles on Monday night, intent on dousing Daisy in acid - but it's poor Ryan that ends up with a faceful of the stuff. Superb performances all round and a brilliant script from Ian Kershaw certainly made Monday's harrowing trip to Weatherfield one we won't be forgetting in a hurry! And to be honest, a lot of the rest of the week was similarly bleak too, especially the Amy storyline, as she opens up about the rape to her family and the police - who, in typical Weatherfield fashion, are able to do very little to keep Aaron of the streets. Meanwhile, Brian finds out he's 8% Italian (and 92% Buffoon?), Michael inadvertently throws a spanner in the works for Stephen at the factory, and Beth has another meet up with Marco - can she resist his charms?

Kabin time next, and now that the acid attack has taken place, we're finally able to cover Princess Anne's trip to Corrie on behalf of The Acid Survivors Trust International, along with the news that we're obviously thrilled about that Helen Flanagan is to return to our screens in the next series of I'm A Celeb! We round off the show with some of your first reactions to this week's drama - plus a bit of a deep dive into regional variations of Chinny Reckon! - in the feedback section.

All in all, we thought this was a great week on Corrie, with very little in the way of filler or stories that didn't hold our interest. From the hilarious contrast between Daniel's stag and Daisy's hen-do to the sizzling chemistry between Sarah and Damon, we were pretty much glued to our screens all week. But of course, it was Evelyn saying her last goodbye to loyal hound Cerberus that really got us in the feels - losing a beloved pet is an experience so many of us have been though, and Maureen Lipman's performance was pitched perfectly. Also this week, Aaron moves in with Abi, Paul gets some worrying medical news, and Stephen's killer hole punch returns!

Back in the 60s and 70s, striking actors and technicians caused some pretty significant disruption to the production of Corrie, and viewers were faced with not seeing their favourite characters for extended periods, having to return to watching episodes in black and white and even, in one case, going months with no Coronation Street at all! In addition to discussing real life examples of striking affecting Corrie, we also take a look at the times when characters themselves have taken to the picket lines to protest the actions of their tyrannical bosses (usually Mike Baldwin, to be fair!) and ponder whether we'd like to see more of this kind of story on the show.

In this week's podcast, we discuss the episodes of Corrie shown between the 6th and the 10th March in the UK (Episodes #10894 - 10899).

This week on Corrie, Amy's shocked to discover exactly what happened between her and Aaron after she passed out on Friday night, and while he's keen for the whole matter to be forgotten, Amy feels understandably violated. Although this storyline didn't get quite as much screen time as we'd expected this week, big props to everyone involved so far! Also this week, Justin gets too close for comfort for Daisy when he lets himself into Number 1 through the back door - but is this enough for the law to listen? Meanwhile, the truth about Beth slapping Hope leads to strife between the Sutherlands, and Tim's thrilled when Jackson shows up at the door with news of Miley - though Faye isn't quite so happy about his return...

Every so often, you'll get an episode of Corrie that you'll sit in front of thinking, 'What on earth am I watching?' That was us - and presumably countless other viewers! - on Thursday night as we saw the effects of Stephen accidentally taking a massive dose of LSD that was meant for Carla. Now whether or not you actually liked those scenes is another matter entirely - but we have to say we thoroughly enjoyed the spectacle, despite it admittedly not exactly being 'Classic Corrie'! This week also saw the start of the consent story, with Aaron taking advantage of a passed out Amy after a night of drunken revelry. Uncomfortable viewing for sure, and we're certainly intrigued to see the after effects next week.

Well what a turnaround that was! After last week's kinda dull offering, we really thought that Corrie was firing on all cylinders this week - and who'd have guessed that Alya of all characters would be the one to do it? From the brilliantly written scenes where she visits Max in prison to the heart-wrenching reading of her victim personal statement, we were totally gripped by the climax of the far right story this week, and for it to also include Shona's return, some lovey character moments between David and Maria and Spider triumphing over Griff made it all the better. Just a shame that Blake's sentencing and Councillor Cameron's comeuppance were rushed through! We're sorry to say that this was another one of those weeks that didn't do a whole lot for us, unfortunately, and we didn't end up having a whole lot to say about this week's goings on in Weatherfield. There was a definite case of 'seen it all before' with some of the stories - the return of the Billy, Paul and Todd love triangle, hospital scenes aplenty, prison bullies, Alya being a trooper, characters cringing as Brian tries to be trendy.. heck, this is even the third motorbike related mishap we've had in the past twelve months! Did the Hashim story need dredging up again? Did the conclusion of Peter's bartering saga need to be brought to an end in such a quick and convenient fashion? Is the odd catty line here and there the best we're going to get out of Debbie from now on? Hmm.. let's hope things pick up again soon!

For this February half term (and a bit of a Valentine's Day treat to each other!), we decided to take another trip up to Manchester, where we were lucky enough to be invited on a little behind the scenes tour of Coronation Street. Not only did we get the chance to explore the newly opened Weatherfield Precinct, but we also got the chance to have a look around Carla and Peter's new flat, Roy's Rolls and Underworld!

Meanwhile, Bernie shows off her golf skills, Nina's worried about Roy's phone addiction, and Peter's bartering adventures continue.

It's been over ten years since we last profiled him on Conversation Street (way back in Episode #10!), so we thought it was about time we caught up with what everyone's favourite Weatherfield DJ (sorry, Geoff..) has been up to since. He may not exactly be one of the most commonly seen characters on the cobbles right now, but he's certainly given us a good few laughs over the past five years - Ryan Prescott's incarnation has completely revitalised the character, as far as we're concerned, and we really hope Corrie has some good ideas for him up its sleeves in the future. And if they don't, well we've certainly got a few they can borrow!

A couple of unexpected twists this week: first, Max's plea of guilty at his hearing puts the character in a particularly precarious position - is he actually going to be sentenced to a hefty stretch in the big house, or will the judge be lenient? And the second surprise involved Beth and Hope - Beth's been a pretty obnoxious individual for quite a while now, but there can't have been many viewers who would have predicted she actually did slap that little madam on Wednesday night! Dodgy CGI eyeballs aside, the final shot of Saturday's episode certainly had us excited for what's to come in this story, though we can't help but feel that Stephen's going to be loitering shadily around the Street for a little while yet. Also strong this week were the more serious scenes given to the usually comedic Daisy - we're not predicting this will develop into another full-blown cancer story, so we were able to sit back and appreciate the cracking performances from Charlotte Jordan and Rob Mallard as Daniel realises that history may be repeating itself in the worst way possible for him... Also this week, it's curtain-up for Ken's play, secret wedding preparations for Tyrone and a new job for Simon - as viewers everywhere ask, "So what had he been doing before, again..?"

Back in August, we had the privilege of going behind the scenes of Coronation Street to see some scenes from recent episodes being filmed, including the goings on in Gary and Maria's flat following Kelly's departure and the moment when Stephen dragged poor Leo's body from the bin into his van. We actually recorded most of this podcast back in August, and it comes in two parts: first, something we recorded before we went into the studios, where we gave our predictions for what we would see based on rumours we'd heard. Super Soap Week came a little earlier than usual to Weatherfield this year, and just how super was it? Well if you ask us, Corrie absolutely smashed it this time round, with all three main stories keeping us gripped all week. Top billing, of course, went to Kelly's exit story, which as well as featuring the surprise return of Rick Neelan from beyond the grave, also made use of the much hyped volume wall for some nighttime shots of the Manchester cityscape. But did the use of Hollywood technology actually live up to the hype? Also this week, Stephen's dastardly plans to have 5 Grasmere Drive sold fall through whilst Leo finds out about Jenny's Canadian canoodling a few weeks ago, and Roy and Evelyn go on a quest to retrieve Hayley's famous red coat in a C-story that ticked all the right boxes when it came to comedy, nostalgia and just great character stuff between two acting legends.

It was a tough few days for our Toyah this week, with the grieving Widow Habeeb up in court for Imran's murder. Still, it could have been worse as it did at least appear to be one of the shortest court cases in Corrie history, due in part to the fact that there was clearly only extremely flimsy evidence pointing to the fact that she'd plotted to kill her husband. The biggest surprise of us, to be honest, was the lack of revelations about the moments before she drove into the wall, and the implication that yes, she did intend to kill him... but now she's walking free? We'll be watching with interest where this one goes next... Also this week, Glenda gets a job behind the Rovers bar as Jenny prepares for her new life in Canada, James gets some bad news about his contract with Weathy County when his manager comes to visit, and Kelly finally discovers the truth behind her dad's death, setting things up very nicely for what will hopefully be some cracking episodes in the coming week...

After last Friday's episodes were postponed because of everything going on in the news, we were in a bit of a quandary about whether to record at the weekend or not. Ultimately, though, we thought it'd be best to wait until the episode had aired as we knew that there was going to be a bit of a bombshell dropped about Spider - or should we say DC Nugent! - and we wanted to chat about it straight away! Once that's story's out the way, there's plenty of other good stuff to talk about. We were quite surprised by how well the scenes with James were done, to be honest, and are loving all the sneaking about Stephen's getting up to as well. And as for the shenanigans with Ken and co auditioning for the local am dram production, well that was a welcome bit of comic relief from all the heavy drama of the other stories!

No news or feedback this week - it is a school night after all! - but hopefully we'll be back to normal later on in the week when the schedules are all caught up with themselves. Until then, happy listening!

Our tenth anniversary edition of the podcast is here! Recorded in an apartment overlooking the Coronation Street studios a decade to the day after the release of our very first show, this special episode covers everything that went on in Weatherfield between the 15th and the 19th August 2022 (Episodes 10717 - 10722).

Confession time: we did originally intend to make this a slightly longer episode by including the virtual mountain of feedback and well wishes that you guys have been sending in over the past week, but due to us getting an unexpected and very welcome invite to a little do with some of the cast members on Friday evening (Michael even got his hair cut especially, so that's how you know it's serious!), we didn't even start watching Corrie until about half past nine! We hope you understand, then, that once Gemma's tenth anniversary quiz is over at the start of the podcast, this episode is a Street Talk only affair!

Fortunately, the Corrie gods were smiling down on us when they blessed us with Monday's episode, which featured some wonderful scenes with Audrey, Ken, Rita, Roy and Claudia, so they were an absolute joy to discuss! Also this week, Zeedan starts to realise that Stu might not be the monster that Yasmeen's making him out to be, Faye's fed up when Craig's seemingly forgotten compulsive tendencies rear their head in the form of him obsessing over her menopause-friendly diet, and, in a plan that's surely got disaster written all over it, Aaron and Summer agree to keep each other's rather large secrets!

A character dating back to the very early days of the show, Corrie legend Alf Roberts was a mainstay on the cobbles for nearly forty years, earning the respect of his neighbours as a local councillor and mayor, as well as the adoration of many a Coronation Street viewer. Though nowhere near as experienced as fellow long-timer Ken Barlow when it came to women, Alf was linked with a few lovely ladies in the early days including Maggie Clegg and Renee Bradshaw, but of course it was his partnership with Audrey for which he is best known and most loved. In this character profile, we take an in-depth look at Alf's life story, including some of his most memorable scenes and episodes.

On our latest podcast, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 4th and the 8th July (Episodes #10681 - 10686). In fact, that's pretty much all we manage this week - for various reasons, we've had to make this a Street Talk only episode, but it's still a good couple of hours long even so!

The main story this week was the big wedding of Fiz and Phill. Many of us had been wondering for a while whether it would actually take place or if she would instead opt for the much anticipated reunion with Tyrone. Well, it turned out to actually be a bit of both - and there are definitely some strongly opposing views on the podcast about that particular outcome! Also this week, Audrey puts the Platts to the test when she reveals she's leaving all her cash to WARTS (excellent callback, by the way!), Steve manages to get himself scammed when he pays for someone to fix his roof, and Spider follows in the footsteps of Wendy and Stephen by coming back for two episodes before disappearing off screen again for a bit - but be certainly loved what little of him we did see!

It's been a a very long time coming, but in this episode of the podcast, we finally get round to chatting about the episodes of Corrie that we've been watching from the 2005-2009 era. This takes us very close to the start of the podcast, so parts of it felt very recent to us, but how did this affect our enjoyment of the show? This period saw the rise of Demon David, the violent death of Charlie Stubbs, and the beginnings of Tony Gordon's descent into villainy. There were also some fantastic shorter stories too, like the appearance of Norris' estranged brother Ramsay. We also got the introduction of two of our then favourite characters, Carla and Becky, but which of them did we find a bit of a disappointment the second time round? Overall, this may not have been a golden era for Corrie in our eyes, but we still had a blast chatting about our time watching it, so we hope you enjoy listening!

This week, the online anti-Maria campaign gets knocked up a notch when Weatherfield's esteemed councillor gets deepfaked into a porn video. Congrats, Coronation Street - you've actually made us feel a bit of sympathy for Maria for once! Honestly, Alf Roberts and Len Fairclough never had to put up with this kind of thing... Meanwhile, Friday's episode saw a trio of rovers returning to the cobbles in the form of Nicky, Mimi and of course, the arachnidan activist himself, Spider Nugent! It's been nearly 20 years since we last saw this fan favourite character on the Street, and thankfully, he doesn't seem to have changed one bit! Also this week, Peter sees red after the case against Thorne is dropped, George and Todd plot to expose Frank for the bully he really is, and Aaron plans a Summer holiday.

We've reached the end of June, and that can only mean one thing: our annual mid-year look at how Corrie has been shaping up in the first half of 2022. We remember the year getting off to a bit of a ropey start when Gemma, Chesney and Joseph were put front and centre, alongside the misadventures of Emma and Faye, but things have certainly changed for the better, at least in our eyes, with the Abi, Toyah and Imran story, even if there's been one casualty there that we certainly wouldn't have wanted... In this discussion, we take a look at which stories and scenes have really stuck with us, which have been a bit of a miss, and think about how we'd like certain stories to develop over the rest of the year.

We're a little bit later than usual this week, but here we are at last, chatting about what went down on the cobbles between the 20th and the 24th June in the UK (Episodes #10669- 10674).

If you're a fan of Team Platt, there would have been a lot for you to like this week as its family members dominated the main stories. Firstly, you've got Audrey, who kept us very much entertained with her boozy shenanigans in the first half of the week; as well as this, you've got Max, who's managed to make a bit of a plonker out of himself by sending a saucy picture of his bits and bobs to who he thought was Sonya, but who turned out to be his so-called mates. When will these kids ever learn, eh? And if one story about a character's private parts wasn't enough for you, then by golly you'll have left this week a lot more satisfied than Sally was as we were also treated to the ongoing tale of Tim's temperamental todger, including a hilarious case of mistaken identity when the lady from the local donkey sanctuary comes a-knocking.

In The Kabin segment of the podcast, we chat about a new, official Coronation Street puzzle book that'll be hitting the shelves this October, and take a look at what Charlie de Melo's got lined up for his first post-Corrie role. We finish off the podcast with more of your listener feedback.

One thing's for sure, though: with all these characters suspecting Toyah purposefully slammed into that wall, and Monday's CCTV footage not particularly revealing anything new, there's definitely no way Toyah's guilty here - that's soap law. Also this week, Summer's attempt to cheat in her English exam backfires for both her and Aadi, Sean's new squeeze brings back some difficult memories for George, and Leo's new hobby causes a massive home brew-ha-ha at the Rovers.

In our latest podcast, we share our thoughts on the dramatic events of Britain's Got Talent week 2022, which aired in the UK between the 30th May and the 3rd June (Episodes #10652 - 10656).

This week saw the long-running battle between Alfie's parents come to a head in dramatic fashion as Imran discovers that Abi is planning to flee the country with their son. Then, after stopping Toyah from reporting Abi to the police, the new Mr and Mrs Habeeb are involved in a car crash that ultimately proves fatal for Imran - but what was it that caused the accident in the first place... and was it even an 'accident' at all? Seeing three of our favourite characters battling it out over the past few months has certainly not been easy at times, but it was nothing compared to losing the lovely Imran this week. What did we think of the method in which he was dispatched, and what could the circumstances around the crash mean for our Toyah? Lack of crumbs in the Vegemite aside, things really aren't looking good for her...

After a lengthy discussion about the week's episodes (interspersed in true flashbacky style with some predictions for the week we recorded after Monday's episode), we head over to The Kabin, where there's some great news from the palace for Helen Worth and Antony Cotton. From parades and street parties to even a Civil War reenactment, the Jubilee has always been an excuse to do something a bit special in Weatherfield, and the episodes are well worth watching if you can track them down. As Daniel spectacularly fails to apologise for accusing Daisy of revealing Nicky's secret past this week, the guilt of being a nasty little scrote is starting to really weigh on Max - though we reckon there were still a lot of viewers wincing as he got himself a very nasty injury on Friday's episode! Also this week, George's big secret is revealed, Toyah gets tiddly at her hen do, and Jacob continues to prove what an asset he is to the show - and not just by making Simon look like a complete plank either!

This week, Adam follows in his grandfather's footsteps by being the latest Barlow to end up in hospital after being pushed from a height as the story with him, Sarah and Lydia comes to a climax. Speaking of which, Tim's ready to pop this week as he eagerly awaits the go ahead from the love doctor (well, heart doctor..) to get intimate with Sally. Meanwhile, Election Day comes for Maria, Faye finds herself once again accidentally up the duff, and Laura makes the ultimate sacrifice after learning the truth about Rick's demise.

Last weekend, we took a trip up north to Manchester for two days of Corrie themed goodness. During our time there, we enjoyed a play at the Hope Mill Theatre starring Sally Ann Matthews, had a drink with Charlie de Melo and Millie Gibson and took a turn about the set on the Coronation Street Tour. An all round fab weekend, and we hope you enjoy hearing about our experience!

After twists and turns of last week's Corrie, were they able to keep up the momentum this week? On the whole, we'd say yes. The Abi/Imran/Toyah story, which continued to take the lion's share of the screen time, still gripped us as we continued to feel sympathy for each of the main players - despite the fact that some of their actions were definitely morally questionable.. Speaking of which, we were pleasantly surprised to see the return of Grace this week, who makes a flying visit to the Street to stir up a bit more trouble for the Baileys. Meanwhile, Nicky puts on her tightest leather trousers for her TA job interview, Amy and Jacob go public with their relationship, and Dr Gaddas returns with a funky new hairstyle as Laura's condition continues to deteriorate.

There wasn't a whole lot in terms of big news this week, so we decided to give The Kabin a swerve, and instead headed straight on over to the feedback section after Street Talk, where topics include the a commentary on Alfie's situation from the point of view of a social worker, the compelling performances of Jane Danson and Sally Carman, and the Coronation Street Tour.

From its humble beginnings as a row of flimsy wooden house fronts crammed into a tiny Granada studio to the vast expanse used today at MediaCity, Coronation Street has changed an awful lot in the past sixty years. The row of terraced houses with a shop at one end and the Rovers Return at the other is just as recognisable as ever, but beyond that, the street is worlds away from what the show runners could have ever conceived of back in 1960. In this discussion, we chat about the evolution of the external sets over the years, tracking the buildings that came and went, roads that were lengthened and (in the case of Rosamund Street) massively shortened, and other changes that viewers have seen come and go.

This week's bonus podcast is a character profile of everyone's favourite drug addled, gun toting, neglectful mother - it's Abi Webster! Since the moment she stepped onto the street back in late 2017, we've been huge fans of this funny, feisty but flawed character. Abi's has barely been off our screens since becoming a Corrie regular, and we've loved (almost!) every minute - and had a great time discussing the manic mechanic's highest of highs and very low lows.

On our latest podcast, we chat about the goings on in Weatherfield between the 28th February and the 4th March (Episodes #10574 - 10577).

Although the new schedule doesn't officially start until the 7th, we got a taster of it this week, with two hour-long episodes of Corrie on Monday and Friday, the first of which focused mainly on the Winter-Brown story and the second on scheming Lydia's machinations. Both plots had some classic soap moments this week, with Chesney's race to stop Joseph emigrating to Portugal ending in a lovely scene filmed at Manchester Airport (more location shooting like this, please, Corrie!) and Sarah going down the tried and tested wronged woman route of chucking Adam's clothes onto the street from a great height. Meanwhile, Abi looks set to fall off the wagon again, Emma makes a risky decision in the romance department, and Brian has itchy feet after a break in the West Country.

Our bonus podcast this week is an interview with the lovely Elle Mulvaney! Longtime listeners of the podcast will know we've enjoyed watching Amy Barlow grow up over the past decade, so it was a real treat to be able to hear her speak about spending her teenage years on the cobbles, including her teenage pregnancy story a few years back and of course her current relationship with Jacob.

Also this week, Asha's newfound passion for the giddy world of risk management takes her on a perilous trip north of the border (or at least it would have done if Nina hadn't been having a breakdown about the dangers of rail travel), Audrey and Rita seem to get confused about when the Queen's jubilee celebrations should be taking place, and Kelly continues her ascent to sainthood by helping Liam count to ten in French.

Following an already illustrious career on stage and screen, Amanda Barrie joined the cast of Corrie in the early 80s as straight talking cafe worker, Alma Sedgewick. Over the years, she rose to become one of the era's best loved characters, forming a popular partnership in the cafe with Gail, and being one half of an iconic couple alongside Mike Baldwin. Here, Amanda shares her memories of her time in the show, working alongside some other Corrie icons.

Another year has come and gone, and in this bonus episode of the podcast, we take a final look at 2021 on Coronation Street. After seeing which characters made it into the Top 10 appearance count for the year, we chat about the production side of things first - how well has Corrie made it through another year of the pandemic, and can we see the light at the end of the tunnel in terms of filming restrictions? We also have a run down of some of our favourite stories and characters of the year, particularly trying to give some time to those who may not have been honoured in our recent Conversation Street Awards show.

Then, just over around and hour and twenty minutes into the podcast, we switch over to the predictions segment for 2022 - though not before seeing how many of our predictions we made a year ago for 2021 actually came true (spoiler: not many!) Meanwhile, because Corrie viewers are clearly interested in stories about characters covering up mysterious circumstances surrounding someone's death, we also got more in the new look Speed Daal this week, where Alya is desperately trying to make Zeedan see that getting back with his ex when they bear some responsibility for her dad's untimely demise probably isn't the best idea. All this, plus a pregnancy scare for Abi, a new job at Underworld for Lydia, and a breakthrough for Nick in his endeavours to get Sam talking again.

This is the tenth time we've run these awards, and we've had more people voting this year than ever, so thanks to everyone who took the time to have their say about 2021 in Weatherfield. Who were the Top Lad and Top Lass? Which surprise twist had us crying out "By 'Eck!"? Who packed the best punch, and has Jenny managed to snag that Flamin' Nora award for best redhead for the seventh year in a row? Listen in to find out!

In our final podcast of 2021, we chat about the episodes of Coronation Street shown over the Christmas weekend-and-a-bit - that's the 24th to the 28th December (Episodes #10516 - 10523).

In a refreshing change to the doom and gloom soap viewers are so often treated to each Christmas, Corrie opted for a lighter tone for this year's 25th December episode. That's not to say there weren't fisticuffs or fallouts (though Tyrone and Phill's inflatable toy fight was pure comedy, and we don't think anyone can deny that George deserved the rollocking he got from Eileen after presenting her with THAT gift..) but with the whole community gathered around the piano for a sing-song at the end of the episode, you'd be forgiven for forgetting some of the lingering beef that certain characters still had with each other - not least Abi's deep resentment towards Kelly still living in the vicinity. Yes, the new Mrs Webster certainly caused a bit of a storm on social media this week with her relentless hounding of Kelly, but what did we make of her actions? All this, plus Fiz's supposed financial investment in No. 9, the return of Roy (and Evelyn - were we the only ones who'd noticed she'd been off-screen for months?) and Jenny admiring Leo's tackle.

This one's been a long time coming, but we've finally made it through to the midway point of the first decade of the new millennium. This period in the Street's history saw a rise in the number of issues-based stories, such as Sarah-Louise's pregnancy and Internet stalker, as well as some well remembered darker moments, like the Richard Hillman saga, the Freshco's siege and Alma's tragic demise. Not only that, but with Michael testing positive for COVID on Tuesday night and subsequently isolating from Gemma, we've also had to be a bit creative with how we've watched Corrie and recorded the podcast this week, so apologies for the sound quality not being up to its usual standard!

That all aside, we actually quite enjoyed this week's Corrie - although with all the overlapping of stories going on (we're looking at YOU, Kelly, Aadi and Summer!) we admit we did find it was a bit of a tricky Street Talk segment to manage at times! As we predicted, the Street residents seem to have forgotten their environmental principles just as quickly as they developed them this week, with not a hint of the Red Red bypass story getting a mention; instead, the main action seemed to have revolved around Kelly's release from prison (ooh, controversial!), Summer's crush on an oblivious Daniel, and Natasha's funeral, which gave us some more fantastic scenes for Sam, who managed to get us right in the feels without even uttering a single word!

In this special edition of the podcast, recorded on location from our holiday home in Dorset, we chat (very quietly so not to wake Gemma's parents!) about the epic episodes of Coronation Street that were broadcast in the UK on the 22nd October.

The bar had been set high and our disbelief had been well and truly suspended following Monday and Wednesday's episodes, and we settled down in front of the telly on Friday night, full of anticipation about what the climax of the week would bring. Yes, we may well have predicted some of the major story beats (namely, Natasha being shot in a case of mistaken identity and Johnny coming to a sticky end whilst trying to rescue Jenny), but we were still left incredibly satisfied by the episodes on the whole, and majorly impressed by everything that went into the scenes underground - scripting, stunts, sets and all. We hope you enjoy listening to our discussion of the episodes!

It's Super Soap Week, and that can only mean one thing: total carnage on the cobbles as Horror Nation Street kicks off in spectacular style. This episode of the podcast comes at you a few days earlier than usual as we wouldn't have been able to record our normal episode over the weekend. Never mind, though, as there's been absolutely loads to talk about from just the first two days of the week anyway! Sinkholes opening up all over the place, the Alahans in a spectacular stunt en route to their camping holiday, and a crazed criminal on the loose, hell bent on revenge... In addition to Ken's well overdue return from Southampton, we had both Freda and Claudia making a comeback, though sadly in unhappy circumstances.. Not only that, but Speed Daal welcomed both Elaine and Zeedan through its doors for the first time in ages, Gary received a visit from his ex-partner in loan sharking, Sharon, and all-round nice guy Phill returned to sweep Fiz off her feet. Meanwhile, Imran's nursing a sore head after his night with Sabeen, Jimmi Harkishin outdoes himself with his Devviest performance yet, much to Aadi's embarrassment, and Alina pops off to Romania... but is she alone?

This week, we were lucky to have a chat with Maximus Evans, who plays Corrie's latest bad boy, Corey Brent. Having just seen Corey found not guilty in Seb's murder trial, we were keen to find out Max's view of the despicable character he's been playing for the past two years on the show, and we also learn what it was like to film those flashback scenes from a few weeks ago as well as what he thinks should end up happening to Corey when soap justice eventually catches up with him!

We're days away from moving house now, and with a whole lot of packing still to be done, we decided to make this a somewhat shorter than normal episode of the podcast - though that's still only short by our standards, of course, so there's still nearly two hours to listen to!

In our final Street Talk segment recorded in the place that's been home to Conversation Street for the past nine years, we chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 6th and the 10th September (Episodes #10422 - 10425).

It's almost as if Corrie knew we didn't want to spend too long on this edition of the podcast as there were only four episodes broadcast this week rather than the usual six, and what a great set of eps they were! Continuing the momentum set up by last week's courtroom drama, this week's action saw both Kelly and Laura take the stand - though it quickly became apparent that getting her mum to testify was about as good a decision for Kelly as agreeing to go out to the wasteland with Corey that fateful evening in May.. We may not have been too surprised by the final verdict when it was delivered on Friday, but the last few scenes of the episode had a couple of developments that made our jaws drop - and actually led to a podcasting first for Michael..! Similarly to last week, we also had a couple of unnecessary appearances from a handful of other storylines on Monday: Eileen and George finally get together after fall-out number 327, Curtis gets bladdered and we're both convinced he has Munchausen's, and Hope's got the back to school blues and our Michael can empathise - perhaps throwing slime at a display board might be an idea for letting off steam for him too..?

We decided to give the feedback section a miss for this episode, but we couldn't possibly ignore the Kabin, considering how well Corrie's done in the awards this week, picking up a hat-trick from the TV Choice and the National Television Awards! We chat about our reactions to who won what, who gave the best acceptance speech and, for the first time in a jolly long while thanks to the pandemic, we give our commentary on the fashion of the night at the NTAs!

This blue and yellow stone clad pad is certainly one of the most recognisable houses on the street, and it's got a history that's just as colourful as its frontage! In this discussion, we chat about our favourite characters who've lived under its roof over the years, our most memorable scenes that have played out there, and even delve into the history of the house from before the show began.

We're a bit late with this week's podcast thanks to our little mini break we've just had away in London, but we're here at last, to chat about the episodes of Corrie shown in the UK between the 9th and the 13th August (Episodes #10398 - 10403).

Looking at people's reactions to Monday night's Corrie, a lot of us started off the episode thinking the same thing: "Did I just miss an episode?" Yes, Shona's off-screen accident antics did leave a fair few of us scratching our heads, and the two of us do have differing views about how successful it was to start off the week in that way, so if nothing else, at least it makes a good talking point for the podcast! Another mystery this week was the 'Who destroyed the vegetable plot?' plot - and although that one got solved pretty quickly, it's nice to have the Seb story starting to warm up again before the big trial. On top of that, we've got Daisy setting her sights on Daniel (or should that be Daniel's bank balance?), Fiz taking the rap for Hope, and potential new owners for the Bistro - though of course we use 'new' in the loosest sense of the word here...

Though the lack of big news stories saw us give The Kabin a miss this week, we make up for it with a bit of a bumper feedback section, with one email in particular giving us plenty to muse over about the current state of Corrie, and what we might do to shake things up if we were in charge.

Welcome to our bonus podcast for the week! We've decided to give it a go spacing out our main and bonus episodes after it seemed to go down well splitting them up during the Euros. Although we can't guarantee which day the bonus podcast will be out each week because of our own schedules, it's likely to be either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday for the time being, with the main Street Talk episode out every Saturday as usual. Let's see how it goes!

This podcast (which we actually recorded a couple of weeks ago, so sorry if any of the references aren't quite up to date!) we chat about the episodes we've been watching on our DVDs from between 1995 and 1999. This is the era that Corrie saw a big shift in tone as well as a bit of an overhaul of the cast. Out went the likes of Bet, Raquel, Derek and Percy, and in came the Battersbys, the Mallets and fan favourites Roy and Hayley. The late 90s also had Corrie hitting the headlines with the notorious Free The Weatherfield One story, tackled domestic violence in the McDonald household and saw Street residents gearing up for Millennium night. It was a time of big change for the show, but was it for the better? Let's find out...

For this week's bonus podcast, we thought we'd jump on the royal bandwagon following today's visit to the cobbles by the Queen.

After chatting about what went on during her tour of the Street, we take a look back at previous times that Corrie has been graced by royalty, including when the Queen opened the set on Quay Street in 1982 and when Prince Charles showed up to shake Audrey's hand in the 40th anniversary episode. As well as this, we chat about the time the show allegedly got a royal rap on the knuckles by mentioning Prince Philip's name on air, explain why Vera Duckworth was so convinced she had blue blood, and remember when Alf Roberts got his OBE at the palace - and why Audrey had to get down there to see it by hitch-hiking!

This week was all about characters getting their claws into their man at all costs, with both Daisy and Todd resorting to devious means to get what they want. The rumour mill is on Fiz's mind too as she urges Tyrone to fess up to the girls about Alina's big news, and Gail is set to put it all behind her as she heads off to Thailand.

We've pretty much reached the halfway point of another year, and in this episode of the podcast, we take a look at the first six months of 2021 on Corrie and chat about how it's all going.

With the end of 2020 marking the climax of the long-running coercive control story as well as the tragic but inevitable death of Oliver Battersby, we started the year excited to see what direction our favourite characters would go in next. A massive story for the Corrie teens was promised, which turned out to be the compelling drama of the attack on Nina and Seb, the repercussions of which promise to continue well into the second half of the year. 2021 also teased the return of a legacy character from Rita's past, and we certainly 'ad it when Sharon Bentley rocked up on the Street, looking for trouble. Meanwhile, a few of our favourite couples have been split up, Peter's been drinking in the Last Chance Saloon, and you thought Jane Danson might get a break after everything Leanne went through last year? So what went down on the cobbles this week, then? On a similar note, the back half of the week saw Asha drugging Corey so that she could find proof on his phone that he'd been the one behind the attack on Nina. Is justice for Seb in sight? Also this week, for some reason, we had some baffling filler scenes of Carla and Sarah taking back some stock of knickers that hadn't been paid for - but at least that led to a great confrontation with a few home truths on Friday.

Ooh, Michael was proper fewmin' at Corrie this week. Not since that time Dennis Tanner flounced off with Gloria Price has a scene made him as mad as he got when the powers that be decided to have Jenny roger the lodger on Monday, so if you like a good rant on the podcast, this episode could be right up your street! Then of course, you've got Sharon's attempts to message Simon on Aadi's knock-off games console that it looks like he got down Weatherfield market, Cathy's inexplicably long stay at number 6, Daisy being a massive cow-bag in both the Jenny and Sean stories... As one of Alina's Generation Z wall quotes would probably say: SMH.

But we still love Corrie, though, which is why we're very much excited at the prospect of the AirBnB competition that's running next week that will give one lucky pair the chance to spend the night in a specially built pop-up hotel on the cobbles, which we chat about in the news segment. And it's on Gemma's birthday, too... Just sayin', if any of the organisers are listening...

With more superb performances from the likes of Sally Carman, Millie Gibson and Mollie Gallagher this week, we were thoroughly gripped, and can't wait to see where Corrie's biggest story of the year goes next.

What a week that was, eh? There'd been rumblings and rumours for a fair few months that something big was going to go down with the Street's younger residents, and this week saw Seb and Nina set upon by Corey and his mates in scenes that echoed the vicious attack on Sophie Lancaster in Salford in 2007. With every actor pulling out the stops to deliver some of Corrie's most compelling episodes in a long while, this was a week that was, at times, quite difficult to watch - let alone record a podcast about! - but ultimately one that will be remembered for years to come and will no doubt be the catalyst for some big story and character developments as we go through 2021 and beyond.

A key player in the downfall of Pat Phelan, an initial suspect in the Underworld roof collapse and the hero who rescued Alina from slavery, Seb's had quite an eventful time on the cobbles, but it's surely his most recent story, in which he's violently attacked whilst walking home, that he'll ultimately be remembered.

Todd, at least, remains interesting to watch due to his excellent ability to conceal his true feelings and motivations, and colour us intrigued by his hiring at George's new funeral parlour on Friday's episode too! Meanwhile, Leanne turns CHIS (yes, we've been watching the new series of Line of Duty) in an attempt to protect Simon from nasty Harvey, Daisy finally gets something to do besides ragging on Johnny, and Todd resumes his meddling in Billy's love life.

For this week's bonus podcast, we revisit the character of Tyrone Dobbs, who we first profiled way back in Episode #3 of Conversation Street. Eight and a half years later, and Tyrone's been up to quite a bit since, from hooking up with Fiz to falling through the attic floor to putting on the #BestChristmasEver for Hope - plus his back story's been well and truly rewritten thanks to the introduction of Evelyn. Here, we get the chance to share our full thoughts on a character who we both find really quite relatable, and ponder what we think the future might have in store for him.

On our latest podcast, we share our thoughts on the batch of Corrie eps that hit our screens between the 15th and the 19th March (Episodes #10273 - 10278).

Now this isn't something you hear very often, but this week it was the Bailey family who took centre stage, as Michael becomes a father ten weeks early than he was expecting, and Ed becomes a grandfather... or does he? Yep, it looks like that history between Ronnie and Aggie that we all saw coming a mile off really did happen, which means that Michael may not even be Ed's biological son after all! Speaking of clearly telegraphed story developments, the spark that's been flickering between Tyrone and Alina grew into a full-blown flame this week as they shared a kiss in Victoria Gardens. Meanwhile, Cathy gets strangely obsessed with Brian's apparently insensitive request that Steve pay his papers, a rogue beetroot salad causes chaos at Abi's wedding dress trying on party, and Leanne delivers drugs to someone who reminded us of our Gemma's old boss.

With this week being a relatively quiet one off the cobbles, we thought we'd give The Kabin a miss, so after Street Talk, we head straight for the feedback section, where we hear some of your compliments and criticisms of the latest goings on in Weatherfield.

This week's bonus podcast is the first listener question segment we've had in a while. First up, we answer another 'What If..?' question, this time wondering how things would have been different as a Corrie viewer, producer or actor if social media had been a thing back in 1960. Which characters would have been shipped, how would stories have been different, and would we think about any of the actors differently if they were just a click away? After that, we tackle a question from someone who wanted to know out thoughts on retcons. We chat about some of the most notorious revisions of Weatherfield history, mulling over which ones irked us more and if there's any reason why sometimes we can be up in arms about the show's (thankfully quite rare) retcons, and other times we're happy to let them slide.

On our latest podcast, we chat about all things Corrie from the week of the 8th to the 12th March (Episodes #10267 - 10272).

How much drama can you wring out of characters collapsing? This week, Corrie tries to answer that question by putting Kirk, Peter and Kelly in varying degrees of peril and having them be discovered by friends and family. Yep, if you watch Corrie for its numerous scenes at Weatherfield General (What? You don't?), you were in for a treat with this week's episodes. Meanwhile, back on the Street itself, Asha takes the news that Nina's finishing with her pretty hard, Fiz's teasing threatens to push Ty into the arms of another woman, and Seb, Alya and Sarah go down in our estimations thanks to their views on pets.

Next up in the podcast, we head on over to The Kabin for a couple of small news stories (see how many minutes we can get out of the news that Jack Duckworth has come to the Words & Design app!), then after a feedback section that includes one listener's tribute to Mike Baldwin, we have a spoilery Kabin Extra segment discussing this week's casting news, which has got Michael jolly excited indeed.

Jack James Ryan's portrayal of nasty drug dealer Jacob Hay has had a lot of Corrie viewers' tongues wagging over the past few weeks, and he's certainly got plenty of people on social media fired up too over the way he's treated Simon, Carla and Leanne. In this interview, which is also available on video here, Michael and Jack talk about what it's been like bringing the character of Jacob to life, how he got into acting, and filming under COVID restrictions.

After going through a bit of a rough patch this past month or so, Corrie definitely felt like it was on the up this week. Getting Paul away from Billy and in with the likes of Daniel and Ed is the best thing that's happened to him for a while, and the Alahans and were back in focus, meaning more great lines from Dev and Aadi and realistic relationship dramas for Asha and Nina; meanwhile, both of the Connors got a big thumbs up from us this week too - Jenny for not putting up with any of Daisy's meddling and Johnny for taking his meds. Speaking of which, can someone please prescribe some chill pills for Yasmeen and Leanne? Watching them struggle with their family issues is pretty stressful to watch at times!

Next up on the podcast is The Kabin, where there's a whole bunch of news to report on this week, including the sad (Johnny Briggs and Frank Mills' deaths), the happy (Victoria Ekanoye's new baby) and the frankly quite bizarre (Les Dennis' face on Mars).

We round off the podcast with more of your feedback, including one listener's incredulity about the number of Street residents who've been in prison!

Daisy's back to her meddling ways this week, but if she really wants to find out how to ruffle some feathers in the Rovers, she could definitely pick up a few tips from our bonus podcast this week, which is a character profile of bitchy barmaid Tanya Pooley. She may not have been in the show long back in the mid-90s, but thanks to her scheming ways, she's definitely gone down as one of Corrie's most memorable female villains.

Having just heard the sad news of the death of Johnny Briggs this morning, we thought we'd reupload the character profile we recorded for Mike Baldwin back in 2013. Give it a listen if you want the opportunity to relive some of Mike's best moments on the Street!

The big talking point online this week seemed to be Ted's funeral, and just how inappropriate it may have been to have used it as a vehicle for some attempted humour, so we start off Street Talk by sharing our thoughts about that. And Tim freaking out about the possibility of the undead Ted bursting out of his casket isn't the only encounter the Street residents have with the recently deceased this week either, as Johnny's still having his hallucinations of Aidan, Leanne's employed the services of a psychic to contact Oliver, and Yasmeen has another encounter with Geoff when she visits the bank. It was a bit of an odd week this week, all things considered, but we give it our best shot dissecting it!

Next up on the podcast, we take a look at Beverly Callard's latest comments about why she left the show in The Kabin before finishing off the episode with more of your feedback.

Also this week, feather-brained Leanne nearly gets hit by Mary's van, there's a medical emergency for Tyrone, and Ed's brother Ronnie makes quite an impression when he comes to visit, but what's Aggie's beef with him?

We've reached another milestone in our journey through the Corrie box sets, so for our bonus podcast this week, we have a good old natter about the episodes we've seen from the first half of the 90s. As this is an era that's only recently aired on ITV3, we imagine it's going to be one that many listeners are quite familiar with, but how did the fact that he'd only just watched it a few years ago affect Michael's appreciation of the episodes, and can Gemma keep up with everything from a time which saw an increased number of weekly episodes as well as an explosion of new characters? From classic scenes like Ken and Raquel's French lesson and the infamous waterbed incident to some of the more underappreciated gems, we have a deep dive into the time period when Michael first started watching Corrie all those years ago and share what were our favourite parts - and what are best left in the past.

This week, Johnny starts to deteriorate further as his mind starts playing tricks on him in prison - and we were on the edge of our seats all week wondering if Aidan Connor was going to make a guest appearance! Meanwhile, Kevin and Debbie get themselves in a spot of bother when they're trapped in the Bistro fridge-cum-freezer-cum-Robert-and-Michelle's-love-nest - WILL THEY SURVIVE? (Yes.) Elsewhere on the Street, Ray's at large, Leanne sees a medium and Gail comes into a small fortune.
