Honda to switch Rins and Mir?

Listener questions dominate this week’s Crash.net MotoGP podcast featuring Keith Huewen, including several on the subject of COTA winner Alex Rins and Honda.

Rins, riding for the satellite LCR team, celebrated Honda’s first MotoGP win since Marc Marquez in 2021 and now holds third in the world championship.

But former Suzuki team-mate Mir has had less early success on the RCV, with a best finish of eleventh for 19th in the world championship, after missing one race due to injury.

With both riders on factory HRC contracts, podcast host Harry Benjamin raised recent speculation that Honda should think about trying to swap Rins and Mir. Contractually, it’s a non-starter, but even if it was possible, would Repsol even be the right move for Rins?

How does Marc Marquez feel seeing Rins win?

539 days since Marquez’s last victory, Honda was finally back on the top step of the MotoGP podium in Texas on Sunday.

But it was new LCR signing Alex Rins who broke HRC’s victory drought, with COTA king Marquez left watching helplessly from home, still sidelined by injuries from the ‘big mistake’ at Portimao.

Enea Bastianini being chosen over Jorge Martin at Ducati next season, Andrea Dovizioso’s last race and the possibility of Marc Marquez riding at the Misano test - just some of the topics on this week’s Crash.net MotoGP podcast featuring Keith Huewen.

Martin will now remain at the satellite Pramac team alongside Johann Zarco next season, again riding the latest Desmosedici machinery.

Crash MotoGP Podcast Episode 40 - Aprilia and Aleix Espargaro take first win! Argentina Review; USA Preview

Quite a dramatic weekend in Argentina. It seemed MotoGP might not be able to get a race in at all after severe freight delays saw Fridays action cancelled. But a heroic effort by all the teams and personnel saw a condensed two day weekend get underway and the drama didn’t stop there. Action throughout the classes but we think everybody, no matter who you support, left with a smile on their face as Aprilia and Aleix Espargaro took their first ever Grand Prix win in the premier class.
