Le Havre Spoil Party at the Parc; Dortmund Preview

Paris Saint-Germain entered Saturday's match against Le Havre ready to celebrate a Ligue 1 title with a win, but the visitors had other ideas and spoiled the party at the Parc des Princes.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss PSG's come-from-behind draw against Le Havre, Warren Zaïre-Emery's big news, and we look ahead to next week's UEFA Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund.

We begin with the news that before kickoff against Le Havre, Zaïre-Emery was presented with a kit with "2029" on the back, signaling a five-year contract extension for the 18-year-old. We discuss the Frenchman's importance in the soon-to-be post-Kylian Mbappé-era and whether he will captain PSG next season.

Next, we dive into the 3-3 draw against Le Havre. A win would have seen PSG clinch its 12 Ligue 1 title in club history, but sloppy defensive play from PSG allowed a determined Le Havre side to score three goals and force Luis Enrique's squad to score two late goals to squeak out a draw. We discuss what we liked in the match, including Gonçalo Ramos' header and assist, and the fact there were no injuries. We also break down what we didn't like in the match, like the forgettable performance from Randal Kolo Muani and the poor defensive effort.

The second half of the show is all about the first leg of PSG's semi-final tie against Dortmund in the Champions League. We discuss Dortmund's recent result, a potential injury to a key player, and what lineup changes Luis Enrique may make for that match. While Ethan believes PSG should be a little on the cautious side and play Manuel Ugarte for extra defensive help in the midfield, I believe PSG should flex their offensive muscle and attack Dortmund on the road and try to put the tie out of reach as quickly as possible.

Paris Saint-Germain Flips the Script Against Barcelona

After years of coming up short in the UEFA Champions League and suffering some of the most painful defeats the game has ever seen, Paris Saint-Germain finally delivered on the big stage to reach the semi-finals.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I recap PSG's come-from-behind win over FC Barcelona. From Luis Enrique's starting lineup, to a controversial referee decision, to Kylian Mbappé's performance, I cover all the major incidents over the 90 minutes.

I begin with PSG's starting lineup, which featured an all-French front three of Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, and Bradley Barcola. After the first match where fitness issues and suspensions for Luis Enrique to adjust his lineup, the manager bounced back and played the ideal starting XI.

Next, I address Ronald Araújo's red card after taking down Barcola as he sprinted toward Marc-Andre ter Stegen. Did the referee make the right decision, or does Xavi and Barcelona supporters have a fair argument?

After the sending-off, Dembélé took advantage and converted a Barcola cross for his second goal of the tie. I talk about his performance and how important his goal before halftime was for Les Parisiens.

In the second half, PSG continued the offensive onslaught, and Vitinha eventually got on the scoresheet with a blast from distance. I discuss his performance and why you could make the argument that behind Mbappé, he's been PSG's most important player this season.

With the tie level on aggregate, it was time for Mbappé to take over and get PSG across the finish line. I talk about his two goals to put PSG comfortably in the lead. Could the Frenchman be thinking twice about leaving for Real Madrid?

After the final whistle, PSG celebrated in front of the traveling supporters. I discuss how proud I am of the team's performance and look ahead to the semi-final tie against Borussia Dortmund.

PSG Look For Revenge in Battle Against Barcelona

Paris Saint-Germain faces an uphill battle in their tie against FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League, but there is hope for Les Parisiens to pull off a la Remontada of their own in the rematch.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined once again by Dan Hilton of The Barcelona Podcast to recap the 3-2 defeat to Barcelona and look ahead to next week's second leg. PSG supporter, Drew, also joins the show to give his thoughts on the tie and both give us a prediction of who they think will advance to the semi-final.

First, Dan shares his thoughts on how well Barcelona played and how tactically they kept Kylian Mbappé from doing any damage over 90 minutes. We also discuss how Barcelona managed to limit their mistakes and take advantage of PSG's questionable starting lineup. We also preview the return leg, and Dan shares his level of concern going against what should be an improved PSG with Achraf Hakimi returning to the starting lineup.

Next, Drew comes on the show to also recap the defeat at the Parc des Princes. We discuss how Gianluigi Donnarumma's abysmal performance, Ousmane Dembélé's goal celebration, and the positives that came out of the defeat. We also look at the season as a whole and whether it's been a success for PSG should they bow out of the Champions League next week.

The Barcelona Preview Episode

One of the best European rivalries will be renewed on Wednesday at the Parc des Princes when Paris Saint-Germain host FC Barcelona in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I preview the first leg of PSG's clash against Barcelona with the help of Dan Hilton from The Barcelona Podcast and Jonathan Johnson from CBS Sports. We discuss every angle of the highly-anticipated rematch from 2021 and Johnson also updates us on the latest transfer news involving PSG.

Up first is my interview with Dan and we begin with Barcelona's finances and whether their fans expected the club to reach this stage of the Champions League. We then pivot to Barcelona's recent results, form, and key injuries.

We know Kylian Mbappé will be a major focal point for Xavi, Barcelona's manager, and I ask Dan how he thinks the Catalan club will slow down the French superstar and whether he is looking forward to facing him next season when Mbappé likely makes the move to Real Madrid.

I wrap up the interview with Dan by asking him about Xavi Simons, who began his career in the Barcelona academy before making the move to PSG, and his prediction for the first leg of the tie.

Next is my interview with Jonathan Johnson and I begin with the PSG and Barcelona rivalry and where it ranks among matchups that occur in the Champions League. I also ask JJ about the one Barcelona player that PSG must shut down to be successful and who for PSG, besides Mbappé, needs to have a standout performance.

Johnson gives us his prediction for the match before switching to transfer talk. I asked about Jules Koundé's future and whether PSG could sign the Barcelona defender this summer. I also ask Johnson whether Arsenal FC was a realistic landing spot for Xavi Simons, the latest on Leny Yoro, and an under-the-radar Ligue 1 player that PSG should target this summer.

The interview with Johnson concludes with his thoughts on Real Madrid's stance on not allowing Mbappé to play in the Summer Olympics with France and the impact that may have on the relationship between the two sides.

Controversy in Le Classique

Ligue 1 returned from the international break with the marquee fixture of the season, Paris Saint-Germain at Olympique de Marseille, and as usual, there were plenty of fireworks.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise and long-time contributor Marc Damon to discuss PSG's 2-0 win over Marseille at the Orange Vélodrome. We also look ahead to Wednesday's clash against Stade Rennais in the Coupe de France and discuss the lead-up to the match against FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.

We begin with Luis Enrique's starting lineup. Considering the injuries, did PSG play its best starting lineup possible? We also discuss Ousmane Dembélé's role as a false nine.

Late in the first half, Lucas Beraldo was sent off with a straight red after VAR took a closer look at his challenge on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. We discuss the incident and the referee who made the questionable decision.

To start the second half, Luis Enrique took off Randal Kolo Muani and whether the Frenchman has a long-term future at PSG.

Vitinha opened up the scoring in the 53rd minute with a brilliant run and a perfectly placed shot. Vitinha has consistently shown up when PSG needs him most throughout the season, and it was no different against Marseille. We highlight his performance and what he's meant for PSG this season.

In the 65th minute, there was more controversy as Kylian Mbappé was subbed off along with Dembélé. Both players left the pitch and went to the dressing room, but Mbappé, in particular, didn't look pleased with the decision. We discuss why Luis Enrique took off Mbappé and what it could mean for the rest of the season.

We wrap up Le Classique by discussing Gonçalo Ramos' goal, whether he'll stay at PSG beyond this season, and Gianluigi Donnarumma's incredible performance, in which he made 10 saves.

The show concludes with us previewing the match against Rennes this week in the semi-final of the Coupe de France and whether PSG is in a better position, having two more games to play than Barcelona before the two meet at the Parc des Princes on April 10.

International Break Paris Saint-Germain Update

The players are away on international duty, so that gives us plenty of time to overanalyze the latest Paris Saint-Germain news making headlines.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I break down the latest news, including a significant injury to one of PSG's best-attacking players, comments from Kylian Mbappé about his future, and a transfer boost to one of the best young center-backs in Europe.

Jonathan Johnson from CBS Sports also joins the show to discuss his thoughts on PSG's quarter-final tie against FC Barcelona in the Champions League and some of the latest transfer news.

I start with the unfortunate injury news of Bradley Barcola, who went down with a hamstring injury while representing France U23 in a friendly against the Ivory Coast. It's estimated the young Frenchman could be sidelined for 10 days and could potentially miss the clash against Barcelona. I discuss who could replace him in the starting lineup over the next couple of weeks.

Next, I discuss Mbappé's comments about his future, where he essentially said there is no news and nothing to announce. With his ongoing tug-of-war with Real Madrid regarding his desire to play in the Olympics in Paris this summer and the club's stance that they will not release him, could this open the door for PSG to try and convince him to stay?

Leny Yoro is one of the most highly sought-after talents in Europe, but with Real Madrid continuing negotiations with Mbappé and FC Bayern Munich's Alphonso Davies, PSG may be in the lead to sign the Lille OSC defender. I talk about PSG's need for a defender like Yoro and why he needs to be the first signing of the summer.

I wrap up my portion of the podcast with a preview of PSG's upcoming fixture against Olympique de Marseille. I discuss the importance of a solid performance in front of a hostile crowd and how that will benefit PSG as they prepare to travel to the Camp Nou later this season with a chance to advance to the semi-finals of the Champions League on the line.

The show concludes with Jonathan Johnson sharing his thoughts on potential PSG transfer targets, Luis Díaz and Johan Bakayoko. He also gives his opinion if would be a mistake to allow Gonçalo Ramos to leave the club and if Achraf Hakimi may also leave to Real Madrid. He also gives his thoughts on the tie against Barcelona and if Ousmane Dembélé will play with a chip on his shoulder against his former club.

A Dream Draw For PSG in the Champions League

After years of receiving the most difficult of draws in the UEFA Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain finally received a bit of luck. Now, what was once thought to be a rebuilding season has suddenly turned into one with massive expectations.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to react to the draw of the Champions League quarter-finals, where Les Parisiens will face off against FC Barcelona.

We start the show by sharing our initial reaction to PSG drawing Barcelona and we reference the recent history between the two sides that has led to some bad blood.

Next, we take a step back and look at the quarter-final matchups as a whole. With Real Madrid, Manchester City, Arsenal FC, and Bayern Munich FC all on one side of the bracket, should PSG supporters adjust their expectations for this season?

When PSG and Barcelona walk out on the pitch together, it will be an emotional moment for Ousmane Dembélé and Luis Enrique who have ties to the Catalan club. Kylian Mbappé will also be taking on his soon-to-be rivals as he's expected to join Real Madrid next season. With that in mind, we share our top storylines that will dominate headlines leading up to the first match on April 10, at the Parc des Princes.

The show concludes with a discussion about the biggest concerns for PSG, including Achraf Hakimi's suspension in the first leg, and we finish the sentence, "PSG will advance past Barcelona if..."

Real Sociedad Recap + Rumor Mill Update with Jonathan Johnson

Paris Saint-Germain cruised to a comfortable win in the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League, which is not something we get to say too often around here.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I break down PSG's 2-1 win over Real Sociedad earlier this week, look ahead to the match against Stade de Reims, and welcome Jonathan Johnson from CBS Sports to discuss the latest news and rumors surrounding PSG.

Up first, I talk about PSG's professional performance against Real Sociedad where Kylian Mbappé showed why he's the best player in the world. His two goals propelled PSG to the quarter-finals of the Champions League, but he had help from Lucas Beraldo, Warren Zaïre-Emery, Vitinha, and Ousmane Dembélé. Luis Enrique got it all right in this pivotal match, and despite losing Achraf Hakimi for the first match of the next round, it was as good of a performance as we've seen in recent years.

Next, I look ahead to Sunday's clash against Will Still and Stade de Reims at the Parc des Princes. PSG defeated them earlier in the season, but with Luis Enrique likely to rotate his squad and limit the minutes of Mbappé, some wonder if PSG can continue its unbeaten run in all competitions that dates back to early last November.

The show concludes with an interview with Jonathan Johnson, where I ask him whether PSG can compete with Real Madrid for the signature of Lille OSC defender Leny Yoro. I also asked him about Dembélé's fitness at PSG compared to his time at FC Barcelona. Other topics we cover include Mbappé's potential impact on Jude Bellingham and Real Madrid's squad, whether Luis Enrique might return to Barcelona, and so much more.

More Mbappé Controversy

Kylian Mbappé may have made his mind up to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, but that doesn't mean he's done creating drama and that's just what he did against AS Monaco at the Stade Louis II.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Jon Olangi, a long-time PSG Talk contributor who made his triumphant return to the podcast. We talk about PSG's scoreless draw against Monaco, Mbappé's controversial actions at halftime, look ahead to the match against Real Sociedad, and some interesting news coming out of Denmark about Fabrizio Romano.

Up first, we talk about the draw against Monaco where if not for the acrobatics of Gianluigi Donnarumma, PSG could have easily lost this away match. The first half was full of sloppy play from Les Parisiens, but there were a few standouts, including Lucas Beraldo, Vitinha, and Nordi Mukiele. We break it all down and even decide which Monaco standout we would like PSG to sign this summer.

Mbappe was one of the players who had a poor performance in the first half and was subbed off at halftime. Instead of watching the match from the bench, the Frenchman came out in a hoodie and sweatpants and watched the action from the stands with his mom. We react to the drama that unfolded and whether PSG will suspend the superstar for future matches.

Next, we look ahead to next week's clash against Real Sociedad in the UEFA Champions League. How will Luis Enrique set up his team, and what will be the mindset for PSG as they cling to a two-goal lead? We give our score prediction for the big match.

Finally, we give our thoughts on the news that transfer guru Fabrizio Romano allegedly receives payment in exchange for sharing rumors about players on social media. Can football journalism ever truly be fixed?

Reacting to the Mbappé Bombshell

This past week, Paris Saint-Germain received news that they have been waiting months for and that is Nuno Mendes has been officially removed from the medical report. Oh, and we received an update on the Kylian Mbappé saga.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss a hectic week in which we learned that Mbappé will reportedly leave the club this summer. We also break down two positive results for PSG against Real Sociedad and FC Nantes.

Starting chronologically, we begin with the timing of Mbappé's communication with PSG that he will not return to the club once his contract expires. According to reports, Mbappé informed the club a day before PSG hosted Real Sociedad in the UEFA Champions League. Did the club force him to make a decision before the knockout stage, or did Mbappé want to do PSG a favor by letting them know as early as possible so they can begin planning for his departure?

Next, we dive into PSG's 2-0 win over Real Sociedad at the Parc des Princes. It was a tale of two halves where PSG looked slow and unable to keep possession in the first half but came out in the second and scored twice to take hold of the tie. We break down Mbappé's performance and Bradley Barcola's goal and look ahead to the return leg and what PSG's strategy should be.

Less than 24 hours after the win, Fabrizio Romano and several other top journalists reported that Mbappé will leave the club this summer as a free agent. We discuss who may have leaked that information to the media, the challenges Mbappé will face at Real Madrid, and who PSG may sign this summer to strengthen the squad.

The show concludes with a discussion about PSG's 2-0 win over Nantes, including Luis Enrique's decision to bench Mbappé to start the match.

No Mbappé, No Problem Against Lille

It would have been easy for Paris Saint-Germain to put forth a lackluster effort against Lille OSC on Saturday, with the UEFA Champions League knockout stage kicking off next week. Instead, Luis Enrique's squad showed resilience and is now full of confidence for the upcoming match against Real Sociedad.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ligue1.com and PSGTalk.com writer Eddie Razo and Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise. We discuss the come-from-behind win over Lille, preview the match against Real Sociedad, discuss Kylian Mbappé's future, and so much more.

Up first, we share what we liked and didn't like from PSG's 3-1 win over Lille at the Parc des Princes with Mbappé left on the bench to rest his injured ankle. The visitors struck first thanks to some shaky defending from Les Parisiens, but Gonçalo Ramos answered with a goal of his own just four minutes later in the first half. PSG went into the half up a goal thanks to an own-goal from Alexsandro and tacked on one late in the second half when Randal Kolo Muani capped off a brilliant run from Bradley Barcola. We highlight Ousmane Dembélé's emergence and Manuel Ugarte's return to form.

We then transition to the match on February 14, against Real Sociedad in the Round of 16 of the Champions League. We discuss the ideal starting lineup and rate our confidence level in the squad currently. We also give our prediction for the first leg of the tie.

Moving off the pitch, we break down the media's coverage of the ongoing Mbappé saga. It was recently reported that he has agreed to join Real Madrid in the summer, but it's never been clearer why the Paris native should stay in the French capital. We discuss the mixed messages from the media and when Mbappé may announce his decision.

We wrap up the show with a discussion about the Parc des Princes, which may not be the home of PSG in the near future, and the news that blue cards could soon be part of the game we all love.

Crunching the Numbers

Paris Saint-Germain threw away a two-goal lead at home last Sunday, but they're still alive in all competitions, and financially, they've never been stronger.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss PSG's draw against Stade Brestois 29, a newly released financial report on the club, and the latest transfer news.

Up first, we discuss the match against Brest, where PSG went up 2-0 in the first half thanks to goals from Marco Asensio and Randal Kolo Muani but let that lead slip in the second. We share what we liked and didn't like from the match and whether Luis Enrique has the squad peaking at the right time in the season.

Next, we pivot to the Deloitte Money League report, which outlines the financial health of football clubs by looking at everything from sponsorships to gameday revenue. Ethan walks us through the findings and outlines what the report says about Paris Saint-Germain.

We conclude the show with an update on the latest transfers, including Cher Ndour going on loan and Gabriel Moscardo's transfer being finalized. We also share our thoughts on whether Hugo Ekitiké will be transferred in January and which Liverpool FC players could be available this summer, with Jürgen Klopp announcing that he is stepping down at the end of the season.

The Rise of Bradley Barcola

New year, and apparently, a renewed Paris Saint-Germain, who haven't lost since the calendar turned to 2024, chalked up another victory at RC Lens on Sunday to increase their lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Marc Damon to discuss PSG's 2-0 victory over Lens, the latest reports regarding Kylian Mbappé's future, the January transfer window, and we answer a few questions from listeners.

Up first, we discuss what we liked, didn't like, and what stood out in PSG's win over Lens. From Bradley Barcola's goal and overall performance to Luis Enrique's lineup decisions to Gianluigi Donnarumma's penalty save, we cover it all.

After the recap, we jump into a bit of drama involving Mbappé. A recent report indicated that the Frenchman has already made the decision to join Real Madrid in the summer despite Mbappé stating no decision has been made. We share our thoughts on this situation as well as the other report about Jordan Brand breaking up with PSG.

Next, we discuss the January transfer window, where no major signings seem likely for PSG, but Nordi Mukiele could be on his way to FC Bayern Munich. Is this a good decision for PSG, or do they need to find a defensive replacement before the end of the month?

We wrap up the show by answering listener questions about Carlos Soler and Fabián Ruiz, Danilo Pereira, and more.

The Mid-Season Review Show

The winter break is upon us, and before Paris Saint-Germain kicks off the new year, we step back to reflect on an eventful first half of the season.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to recap PSG's Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League performance so far, look ahead to the tie against Real Sociedad, react to the Super League news, and discuss potential broadcasters for Ligue 1 in the United States.

First, we talk about Ligue 1, where PSG sits in first place ahead of OGC Nice and AS Monaco. Luis Enrique earns high grades for navigating PSG to impressive wins at Stade Rennais and at home against Olympique de Marseille. We also name our most valuable players of the season so far and call out what has impressed us the most about the French top flight.

Next, we discuss the Champions League Round of 16, where PSG will face Real Sociedad. We share our initial reaction to the draw and what PSG must do between now and February 14, to prepare to face an impressive up-and-coming squad. We also share the ties we're most looking forward to watching.

News of the Super League 2.0 broke right before recording, so we react to that news and why most of the major clubs are against a new European tournament.

Lastly, we discuss a recent interview by World Soccer Talk with Chief Executive Ben Morel. In the article, he mentions the league is looking for a new broadcast partner in the United States, and we share which providers we would like to see, plus how Ligue 1 can continue to grow in the U.S.

Paris Saint-Germain Survives the 'Group of Death'

It was a tumultuous Wednesday evening for Paris Saint-Germain supporters as the club battled Borussia Dortmund with a place in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League on the line. Thankfully, Christmas came early, and Les Parisiens narrowly scraped by with a draw.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Jonathan Johnson from CBS Sports to talk all about the match against Dortmund. We discuss the overall performance of the club, missed opportunities, and standout performances and look ahead to the next round.

Up first, Johnson shares his overall thoughts on the performance from PSG, including the countless missed scoring chances Luis Enrique's side created. On the other end of the pitch, Gianluigi Donnarumma had a fantastic performance, and we talked about his potential future with the club.

Warren Zaïre-Emery put in a Man of the Match performance and scored PSG's only goal. We talk about his ability to come back from injury and lead PSG against Dortmund and whether he could be the captain of the club next season.

We wrap up the conversation about the match by discussing PSG's mentality after going a goal down and whether Luis Enrique should have instructed his side to go for the win instead of playing defensively late in the match.

Then, we switch gears to the January transfer window. We discuss potential transfer targets and which young players could go out on loan.

The Donnarumma Dilemma

Of all the things Paris Saint-Germain supporters thought they might have to worry about this season, the goalkeeper situation probably wasn't high on the list. Unfortunately, after several poor performances, Luis Enrique has a difficult decision to make regarding Gianluigi Donnarumma.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by "PSG 10" to discuss Donnarumma's recent form, which included a red card incident against Le Havre that will see him suspended for two Ligue 1 matches. We also discuss PSG's upcoming fixtures and what supporters can expect from the club in the January transfer window.

Up first, we dive into Donnarumma's latest failures and mental mistakes. We give our assessment of the situation, question whether PSG's porous back line could be somewhat to blame, and which backup goalkeeper could replace him both while he's suspended and against Borussia Dortmund on matchday six of the UEFA Champions League.

Speaking of Dortmund, we discuss potential changes PSG could make to its squad ahead of the massive match where a win will see them top the group, and anything less could put them in the UEFA Europa League. PSG's next match against FC Nantes could give us a clue as to what Luis Enrique might be thinking for that clash in Germany.

We wrap up the show by talking about the January transfer window. Could we see some concrete movement on the Kylian Mbappé file? Will Real Madrid make a bid? What if PSG falls to the Europa League? We discuss all that, plus what the potential transfer of Gabriel Moscardo from Corinthians says about PSG's future transfer strategy.

PSG Survive in Dramatic Fashion Against Newcastle

Paris Saint-Germain hosted Newcastle United F.C. with revenge on their minds, but instead, it was a night of wasted opportunities and controversy.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Eddie Razo, our long-time writer for PSGTalk.com, to discuss PSG's 1-1 draw against Newcastle. We discuss the starting lineup, Gianluigi Donnarumma's performance, and the decision that ultimately gifted PSG their only goal.

Up first, we examine Luis Enrique's decision to start Danilo Pereira and Milan Škriniar at center-back and leave Vitinha on the bench in favor of Kang-In Lee. Did PSG's lineup play a role in Newcastle's fast start to the match?

Next, we discuss Donnarumma's sloppy goaltending that led to Newcastle's goal. His inability to hold onto a soft shot from distance allowed Alexander Isak to pounce on the rebound and score easily. Is it time for Luis Enrique to consider his options at goalie?

Throughout the match, but especially in the second half, PSG created chance after chance but failed to score. We share our thoughts on the wasted scoring opportunities and whether it might be time for a change up front.

Last but certainly not least, we get into the drama of the night, which saw VAR award PSG a penalty late in stoppage time. We comment on the media's reaction and whether the official missed other incidents where PSG should have been awarded a penalty.

To wrap up the show, Eddie shares his thoughts on the upcoming January transfer window and what business PSG might do.

The Kylian Mbappé Show Against Reims

You never know what you might get from Paris Saint-Germain after a big UEFA Champions League match. So, with a trip to the Stade Auguste Delaune to face Will Still and Stade de Reims last Saturday, PSG needed to forget the debacle at the San Siro and focus on the domestic matters at hand.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by longtime contributor Marc Damon to discuss PSG's 3-0 win over Reims, PSG's disjointed attack, the problems on defense, and we look back at the defeat to AC Milan and look ahead to an important stretch of matches for Les Parisiens.

Up first, it's the match against Reims, where Kylian Mbappé dazzled by scoring one of his best goals in a PSG shirt. While the Frenchman recorded a hat trick, Gianluigi Donnarumma stood tall in goal and made six saves to secure the clean sheet. We discuss what stood out to us the most in the match and what changes Luis Enrique may make moving forward.

PSG's attack continues to be disjointed, and we discuss in detail. Without Mbappé's 11 goals in 13 Ligue 1 appearances this season, PSG would be in serious trouble. Ousmane Dembélé has yet to score since arriving from FC Barcelona, Randal Kolo Muani has been inconsistent, and against Reims, I nearly forgot Gonçalo Ramos was on the pitch because he did so little. We also try to read between the lines regarding Luis Enrique's curious post-game comments where he stated he wasn't happy with Mbappé and that he could do more to help the team.

The defense continues to give supporters heart palpitations. Milan Škriniar has been sneaky good this season, while Marquinhos continues to underperform. We wonder if this could be the last season for Marquinhos at PSG and who could replace him in the starting lineup.

To wrap up the episode, we discuss PSG's loss to AC Milan in the Champions League and our confidence level for PSG to advance to the knockout stage.

Dollarummas and Despair Against AC Milan

The roller coaster that is Paris Saint-Germain rolled on Tuesday night as the club traveled to Italy to face AC Milan in a pivotal UEFA Champions League match.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss Paris Saint-Germain's 2-1 defeat to AC Milan at the San Siro, including the abuse directed at Gianluigi Donnarumma, the performance of the referee, PSG's lackluster offense, and we touch on an official statement released by Real Madrid recently.

Up first, we talk about the drama leading up to the match between PSG and AC Milan. There was a PSG supporter who was stabbed before kickoff, and the AC Milan Ultras printed "Dollarumma" dollars with the intended purpose of throwing them at PSG's goalkeeper. Should the referee have done more to protect Donnarumma from the abuse? We also discuss the overall discrepancy in foul calls between the two sides, with AC Milan not recording a foul until after an hour of match play.

We also discuss PSG's attack, which failed to record a goal on the night. Instead, it was Milan Škriniar who scored the lone goal for the visitors. Kylian Mbappé was double, if not triple-teamed at times, Ousmane Dembélé continued his goal drought, and Randal Kolo Muani provided very little in front of goal with only one recorded shot in 60 minutes before he was subbed off. Should Luis Enrique brought on Gonçalo Ramos earlier or even started him? Kang-In Lee provided a spark on the bench and made a case for replacing Vitinha in the starting lineup.

Ethan and I share our level of concern for PSG as it comes to advancing out of the group and into the knockout stage and whether the match against Newcastle United F.C. at the end of the month is a must-win.

The podcast wraps up with a conversation about Real Madrid's recent official statement that informed anyone who cares that they are not negotiating with Mbappé regarding a potential arrival next summer. Clearly, something is going on behind the scenes, and we try to figure out what that might be.

Beware of Brittany

Any time Paris Saint-Germain travels to the Brittany region of France, they know they're in for a battle.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss PSG's narrow escape away at Stade Brestois 29. I also get Ethan's thoughts on PSG's massive win over AC Milan last week in the UEFA Champions League, and we touch on the troubling incident between Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais.

We start with Luis Enrique's starting lineup, which saw Milan Škriniar and Danilo Pereira at center-back. With Brest scoring two goals off of set pieces, will this be the last time we see this duo starting a match?

We then discuss Warren-Zaïre-Emery, who scored a goal to follow up his man-of-the-match performance against AC Milan. We discuss his performance and what his potential could be as he progresses at PSG.

Kylian Mbappé scored a brace against Brest, including the game-winning goal, but he also got into an altercation prior to taking a penalty kick, and then when he was subbed off, he got into a shouting match with the Brest supporters. We discuss those incidents, his leadership, and whether he should be rested ahead of the match against AC Milan.

We wrap up the show with Ethan sharing his thoughts on the win against the Rossoneri at the Parc des Princes and what should happen to Marseille after some of their supporters allegedly attacked a bus carrying the Lyon players and staff.

Paris Saint-Germain 'Feeling This' Against AC Milan

In a must-win match against AC Milan, Paris Saint-Germain stood up to the challenge and delivered a clutch 3-0 victory that could propel them into the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Jonathan Johnson from CBS Sports to discuss PSG's win over Milan at the Parc des Princes, the performance of Warren Zaïre-Emery, and the squad depth that Luis Enrique has at his disposal.

Up first, Jonathan shares what impressed him the most about PSG's performance, including Luis Enrique's tactics and Zaïre-Emery, who was named man of the match. I ask what kind of player he can develop into and who is his current comparison in European football.

Milan did push back on PSG at times, so I asked Jonathan whether Luis Enrique should switch to a more counterattacking style or continue to play a possession-based game. From Bradley Barcola to Kang-In Lee to Gonçalo Ramos, PSG's depth is better than it has been in years, but is it on par with Manchester City?

Lastly, I asked Jonathan about Xavi Simons, who is on loan at RB Leipzig and scored an incredible goal in the Champions League. Could the young superstar decide to stay in Germany or force a transfer away from Paris? What could his return mean for Kylian Mbappé and his future at PSG?

Paris Saint-Germain Rebound Against Stade Rennais

Coming off the defeat to Newcastle United F.C. in the UEFA Champions League last week, Paris Saint-Germain had one more chance to get back on track before the international break.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise and Drew from Dallas to break down PSG's 3-1 win over Stade Rennais, and I get their thoughts on the performance against Newcastle.

Up first, we share our overall thoughts on PSG's performance away at Rennes, which is traditionally a tricky fixture for Les Parisiens. We highlight Luis Enrique's decision to go back to a traditional 4-3-3 formation and the return of Vitinha to the starting lineup.

Along with Vitinha, Achraf Hakimi had a standout performance against Rennes. We discuss his resurgence under Luis Enrique and how his partnership with Ousmane Dembélé led to both players elevating their game.

Kylian Mbappé had a strong xG against Rennes, but he failed to convert his numerous scoring opportunities, including a wide-open net opportunity. We debate whether he has Real Madrid on his mind or if fatigue is a factor.

Lastly, we discuss whether the timing of the international break is good or bad for PSG, and we look back one final time on the loss to Newcastle.

Paris Saint-Germain Humbled at Newcastle

Not many teams would have gone into St. James' Park on Wednesday night and escaped with a win, and that was the case for Paris Saint-Germain as arrogance and costly mistakes led to a convincing defeat.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm thrilled to be joined by long-time contributor Carl-Oscar Kallstrom to break down PSG's 4-1 loss at the hands of Newcastle on matchday two of the UEFA Champions League.

First, we begin with Luis Enrique's head-scratching starting lineup, which saw Kylian Mbappé, Ousmane Dembélé, Gonçalo Ramos, and Randal Kolo Muani all on the pitch at the same time. The 4-2-4 formation left the midfield thin, with only Manuel Ugarte and Warren Zaïre-Emery left to fight for possession, and the defense suffered as well. We debate why Luis Enrique went with this lineup and why he didn't change when he realized things weren't working.

Next, we discuss Marquinhos, whose mistake led to Newcastle's first goal. Is it time for the PSG captain to be benched? If so, who should take his place, and what defensive formation should PSG play?

We also break down Zaïre-Emery's performance and question whether he is one of the most important players in the squad. We also wonder what is wrong with Mbappé and what his body language against Newcastle might be telling us.

Lastly, we answer some of your questions from social media and share why we remain positive about Paris Saint-Germain this season.

The Newcastle Prediction Show

There are no off days for Paris Saint-Germain in the current edition of the UEFA Champions League group stage, and Luis Enrique wouldn't have it any other way.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss the scoreless draw against Clermont Foot last Saturday and how that result could carry over to PSG's upcoming match against Newcastle United FC.

Up first, we recap the Clermont Foot match where PSG played very well and recorded an xG of more than three but failed to score a goal. We debate whether the lack of goals could carry over into the next match and if Luis Enrique's three-at-the-back formation could work long-term.

Next, we discuss the highly-anticipated match against Newcastle. PSG will travel more than 550 miles north to Newcastle Upon Tyne to take on the Magpies, where a hostile crowd—and drones—will be waiting. We wonder about the health of Kylian Mbappé and who might need to step up if he's not 100% healthy. We also discuss potential tactics and what strategy Luis Enrique might deploy against Eddie Howe's club.

We conclude with our match predictions and a quick update on Nuno Mendes.

Licence to Kill

Following their triumph over Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League last Tuesday, Paris Saint-Germain looked to climb the Ligue 1 ladder as a very poor Olympique de Marseille side paid a visit to the French capital.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan of PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss PSG's 4-0 win over Marseille. We break down Luis Enrique's starting lineup, breakout performances, Kylian Mbappé's injury, and look ahead to the next couple of matches on the fixture list.

Up first, it's all about Le Classique. Luis Enrique went with an unconventional starting lineup, with three defenders and newcomer Bradley Barcola playing on the left flank behind Mbappé. We discuss the manager's flexibility, Barcola's performance, and how PSG's rebuilt defense is still learning to play together.

PSG scored early and often against Marseille, with Achraf Hakimi kicking this off in the eighth minute with a brilliant free kick. We discuss his complete turnaround in recent weeks and how Manuel Ugarte's defensive prowess allows Hakimi to get forward and join the PSG attack.

Mbappé won the free kick that led to Hakimi's goal, and while the Frenchman tried to continue, he eventually left the match in the first half with an ankle injury. We discuss the impact of the injury and whether Mbappé should feature against Clermont Foot before PSG travels to Newcastle United on October 4, for a big Champions League match.

Finally, we discuss PSG's other two goalscorers, Randal Kolo Muani and Gonçalo Ramos. Both newcomers were on the verge of being classified as 007 (zero goals, zero assists in first seven matches), but Kolo Muani scored an opportunistic goal before halftime, and Ramos scored a difficult header in the second half and capped off an incredible counter move to wrap things up. We share our expectations for both attackers as the season progresses, and look ahead quickly to PSG's upcoming match against Newcastle.

Dortmund Debrief with Jonathan Johnson

A lot has changed since Paris Saint-Germain last featured in the UEFA Champions League earlier this year. Players have come and gone, but one thing remained the same: defeating Borussia Dortmund.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Jonathan Johnson of CBS Sports to recap PSG's 2-0 victory over Dortmund to open group stage play of the Champions League. We discuss the squad's performance, standout players, and I get JJ's thoughts on the new kit as well.

We start with Johnson's description of the atmosphere at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night. Was there a sense of optimism amongst the crowd or nervous energy about the unknown? How did the Dortmund supporters feel heading into the match? JJ shares his first-hand account with us.

Next, we discuss PSG's first-half performance, which lacked a goal but delivered plenty of promise. We also talk about Dortmund's tactics, which were apparently to play defense for 90 minutes and try to escape with a scoreless draw.

The man of the match was Vitinha, who nearly scored in the first half and recorded a beautiful assist to Achraf Hakimi for PSG's second goal of the night. I also ask JJ about the recent news that he and Lionel Messi butted heads in training last season.

Speaking of Messi, I ask Johnson what he thought was the biggest difference between PSG last season with Messi and Neymar, compared to this season.

Finally, we talk about the upcoming fixture against Olympique de Marseille on Sunday, and JJ helps preview that matchup as PSG looks for a positive result to climb the Ligue 1 table.

Reacting to Verratti's Unceremonious Departure From PSG

The international break is ending, and Paris Saint-Germain faces an uphill battle as one of its leaders departs the club unceremoniously.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to react to the news that Marco Verratti has agreed to leave the club. We also discuss PSG's spending spree this summer and look ahead to a difficult stretch of matches coming up for Les Parisiens.

Up first, it's the news that Verratti will leave PSG after 11 years and join Al-Arabi SC of the Qatar Stars League for a reported fee of €45 million. We share our initial reaction, question why it's taken so long, and whether PSG could have gotten a higher transfer fee for the talented midfielder.

There were reports that other top European clubs were interested in signing Verratti, including Bayern Munich, Chelsea FC, and FC Barcelona. Why didn't the Italy international go to those clubs instead of Al Arabi?

Verratti's departure likely concludes a hectic summer transfer window, which saw PSG have a higher net spend than Chelsea. We look ahead to the January transfer window and beyond and predict what kind of business PSG might do.

Lastly, we wrap up the show by discussing Marco Asensio's injury and what it means for Luis Enrique's squad selection. We also explain why PSG's matches against Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League and Olympique de Marseille in Ligue 1 are must-win games for PSG.

Is This Heaven? No, It's Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain supporters are smiling just a bit more and have an extra bounce to their step because not since the incredible run to the UEFA Champions League final in 2020 have they been this satisfied with the sporting project.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise and Drew from Dallas to recap PSG's thrilling 4-1 win over Olympique Lyonnais at the Groupama Stadium. We discuss standout players, how Luis Enrique will shape the squad with the latest incoming transfers likely suiting up after the international break, and so much more.

To get started, we break down that convincing win over Lyon that saw PSG put four goals past Anthony Lopes before halftime. The team shares what stood out to them, including another Manuel Ugarte masterclass and a Kylian Mbappé brace. However, the defense still feels shaky, and we wonder what changes Luis Enrique might make moving forward.

Next, we transition to the Champions League draw that pits PSG against Borussia Dortmund, AC Milan, and Newcastle United in Group F. We share our reaction to the draw and whether PSG should be the favorite to advance and who might challenge them the most.

The show concludes with our reaction to a couple of quotes. First, it's Lucas Hernández who said PSG is the biggest challenge of his career and that he wants to go down in the club's history. The other quote is from Neymar Jr., who revealed that he and Lionel Messi felt that playing for PSG was like "hell."

Ugarte Party at the Parc

After two disappointing results to open the Ligue 1 season, Paris Saint-Germain welcomed RC Lens to the Parc des Princes on Saturday in their most difficult test yet. After the final whistle, fans were beaming with pride due to both the result, and style of play showcased.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to break down PSG's 3-1 win over RC Lens, a club that surprised last season and qualified for this season's UEFA Champions League.

Up first, we discuss Luis Enrique's starting lineup and whether the new manager is getting close to figuring out his ideal starting XI. We also discuss who is most at risk of losing their spot as a starter.

Next, we discuss Kylian Mbappé, who was cheered by the PSG Ultras before scoring a brace. We talk about his performance overall and his telepathic connection with Ousmane Dembélé.

As good as PSG's attack was, the midfield was outstanding. Warren Zaïre-Emery continues to show why PSG sees him as the future of the club, Vitinha showed a lot of promise going forward, and Manuel Ugarte was a one-man wrecking ball with nine ground duels won and six successful tackles. We discuss their performance and whether Kang-In Lee can break into the midfield as a starter.

Unfortunately, there were some rough patches for PSG. Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, and Gianluigi Donnarumma continue to play below their ability, and we question whether Enrique will replace them in the starting lineup as more players return from injury.

The episode concludes with a discussion about the transfer window and whether PSG are a serious contender for the Champions League title. We also talk about a controversial banner held up by PSG supporters in Paris and Miami.

The End of an Era

After years of attracting superstar talents to the French capital, Paris Saint-Germain has reversed its strategy and is preparing to head in a new direction with an unquestioned leader on the pitch.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ten and Lee Davey to discuss the shocking news that Kylian Mbappé was reinstated into the squad, Neymar Jr. is reportedly on his way out of the squad, and additional transfer business the club could complete before the close of the transfer window.

Up first, it's the newcomer Ten who shares how he became a PSG supporter before delivering his thoughts on Neymar reportedly agreeing to a transfer to Al-Hilal of the Saudi Pro League. I ask whether he believes Neymar will go down as a club legend and how PSG can go about replacing what he provided on the pitch.

Next, Lee Davey of talkSPORT and Ligue1.com joins the show. I get his thoughts on Mbappé returning to the PSG squad at the same time Neymar is being pushed out. I also ask how PSG can get leverage in the next round of contract negotiations if Mbappé is open to a new deal with the reigning French champions. Lee also shares his expectations for PSG this season and additional signings the club could make.

Where Will All The Goals Come From?

Paris Saint-Germain continued its summer rebuild with another big signing, and there are several more on the horizon. However, with just days until the start of the Ligue 1 season, it's the players who could be leaving who will decide the fate of the 2023-24 campaign.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan of PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss the attacking players available to the new manager, Luis Enrique. We also discuss the future of Kylian Mbappé and Neymar Jr. at the club, Lionel Messi's success in Major League Soccer, and new investors at Paris Saint-Germain.

Up first, we discuss PSG's attack, which added Gonçalo Ramos, who will likely be the first-choice striker. Is a front three of Ramos, Ousmane Dembélé, and Marco Asensio enough to win Ligue 1 and compete in the UEFA Champions League?

Next, we discuss the roadblock preventing Mbappé from leaving for Real Madrid. Should PSG negotiate with the Spanish club, or, could the Frenchman be enticed to stay at PSG considering the successful transfer window?

Mbappé may stay if Neymar is moved on, which could be a possibility, according to reports this week. The Brazil international is rumored to be heading to FC Barcelona, the Saudi Pro League, and Major League Soccer. Is a move possible, and, would Mbappé prefer to be the lone star in the French capital?

We then turn our attention to Messi, who is tearing up MLS despite what Ethan and I had predicted previously. Can the former PSG man continue his impressive run of seven goals in four appearances, or will he hit a wall at some point?

We conclude the show with news that an American private equity company is planning on investing in PSG and that they have plans and new ideas for the club. We brainstorm possible American sports features that could make their way to the Parc des Princes.

Dembélé Injury Concern, Pivotal Mbappé Week, Verratti Mentality

August will be a pivotal month for Paris Saint-Germain, with the Ligue 1 season kicking off and several transfer files nearing completion. But as we've learned over the years, always expect the unexpected when it comes to PSG.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss the breaking news about Ousmane Dembélé, the latest on Kylian Mbappé, and the report that Marco Verratti is close to joining Al-Hilal.

Up first, we share our initial reaction to the news that Dembélé has agreed to join PSG from FC Barcelona. We debate whether this is a smart signing considering his injury history. We reflect on the coincidence that PSG is signing a player that Barcelona signed to replace Neymar Jr. when PSG paid his buyout clause as well. Lastly, we question whether Dembélé's arrival could lead to a contract extension with Mbappé.

Next, we discuss the upcoming week in terms of the Mbappé transfer situation. The PSG superstar is due a loyalty bonus, and come Tuesday at midnight, Mbappé must decide whether he wants to trigger the third year in his current contract or not. We debate whether PSG should set a deadline for his decision and transfer offers and if Real Madrid will really spend up to €230 million to sign him this summer.

We stick with transfers and dive into the Verratti report that indicated that he agreed to terms with Al-Hilal, but PSG are unwilling to sell due to a lowball offer from the Saudi club. If the report is accurate, should PSG want a player in the team that is reportedly willing to give up top-class European football in his prime?

We conclude with a discussion about PSG's transfer window as a whole and what business still needs to be done, and a quick preview of PSG's match on Tuesday against Inter Milan.

The Latest on Mbappé, Transfers, and Preseason with PSG Hub

Paris Saint-Germain are two matches into their preseason schedule ahead of the 2023-24 season, but performances on the pitch have taken a backseat to the ongoing Kylian Mbappé saga.

On this episode of PSG Talking, we recap the scoreless draw against Al-Nassr in Japan before turning our attention to the latest on Mbappé and transfer rumors.

Up first, I go on my opening rant about Mbappé. As things stand, PSG believes Mbappé has already agreed to join Real Madrid next summer on a free transfer. So the club is now entertaining offers for the Frenchman, and they reportedly have a massive one on the table. Al-Hilal has reportedly submitted a bid of €300 million for Mbappé along with wages in the €700 million range. Both would smash current records.

The atmosphere between Mbappé and PSG is contentious, to say the least, but ultimately, it's up to Mbappé whether he stays in the French capital or leaves. If he stays, Mbappé will likely be benched for the season or play very little. If he leaves, for either Al-Hilal, Real Madrid, or another club, PSG would benefit by way of a transfer fee and getting rid of a massive distraction in the dressing room. We'll see how this one plays out.

The show continues with an interview with PSG Hub. We begin with a discussion about PSG's preseason match against Al-Nassr. PSG Hub shares how he saw the match and which players stood out, including Cher Ndour, Achraf Hakimi, and Noha Lemina.

We then turn our attention back to Mbappé, and PSG Hub shares his thoughts on the latest developments regarding the Parisian superstar. I asked him about the legalities of benching Mbappé for a season and whether PSG could recall Xavi Simons from loan at RB Leipzig should Mbappé leave.

PSG Hub also shares the latest on Harry Kane. At times, this transfer felt like it wouldn't happen with FC Bayern Munich leading the way for his signature, but reports continue to leak out highlighting PSG's interest. Given PSG's relationship with Tottenham Hotspur, a transfer can't be ruled out, and Kane would only be the fourth Englishman to suit up for PSG.

We conclude the show with PSG Hub sharing his favorite signing of the summer and outlining other transfers the club needs to secure before the window closes.

Retail Madness, Leonardo Drops the Mic, and Preseason Expectations

Summer is in full swing, and Paris Saint-Germain's transfer business is heating up. Several rumored players have officially signed with the club, but several holes still remain in the squad, and there's still the looming situation with Kylian Mbappé that has yet to be resolved.

On this episode of PSG Talking, Ed is joined by the man behind the PSG Report Twitter account and Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss PSG's latest transfer business and who might be signed to play the striker role. We also discuss comments made by the club's former sporting director about Mbappé, and the upcoming preseason tour.

First, Ed rants about PSG's new retail store in Las Vegas, Nevada. It's the third store PSG has opened in the United States, but is it creating more plastic fans and getting the badge into the hands of people who care more about fashion than the makeup of the midfield? Instead, Ed wishes the team would work on making PSG matches more accessible in the U.S. and, if the country is a priority, then come and visit for a preseason tour, which they haven't done since 2017.

Next, PSG Report joins the show to grade PSG's transfer business so far and name the signing he is really excited about and one that may end up being a disappointment. We also discuss players PSG should continue to track and try and sign, such as Bernardo Silva and Randal Kolo Muani, and I get his thoughts on the Mbappé saga. The interview concludes with potential surprise departures from the club.

Following PSG Report is Ethan, who reacts to Leonardo's comments about how PSG must let Mbappé go and that several clubs have won the UEFA Champions League without him over the past six seasons. We also discuss strategies PSG could use during these tense negotiations with PSG and share what we're looking forward to most during PSG's preseason tour.

Making Sense of PSG's Transfer Strategy

As the calendar flips to July, Paris Saint-Germain has yet to hire a new manager or announce a major signing. With so much work to be done, should supporters start to worry?

On this episode of PSG Talking, Ed is joined by Drew from Dallas and Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss PSG's overall transfer strategy, the latest on Kylian Mbappé, and what PSG's starting lineup could look like next season.

Up first, Ed shares his thoughts on PSG's transfer business so far, which includes signing the injured Lucas Hernández from FC Bayern Munich for €45 million. Should PSG instead target players like Harry Kane, who are hungry for trophies, aren't often injured, and can provide goals from day one? The monologue concludes with Ed sharing why PSG fans should keep an eye on the Xavi Simons situation.

Next, Ed welcomes Drew from Dallas to the show to discuss the transfer window in depth. Drew first shares how he became a PSG supporter before diving into the rumored signings of Hernández, Marco Asensio, Milan Škriniar, Manuel Ugarte, and others. Luis Enrique is likely to be PSG's next manager, and Drew shares his thoughts on whether he was the best option for the club.

Following Drew is Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to break down what PSG's starting lineup could look like next season. From Gianluigi Donnarumma in goal to Mbappé potentially leading the attack to Neymar Jr. playing the number 10 role, Ethan gives his ideal formation, lineup, and backups at every position. He also asked him which young player in the ranks at PSG could work his way into being a consistent starter.

Kylian Mbappé Transfer Update With Jonathan Johnson

When it comes to Kylian Mbappé, it's always best to call in an expert to help read between the lines of what he's really saying and what his true intentions are.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Jonathan Johnson, who covers all this soccer and Paris Saint-Germain for CBS Sports Golazo. He also has a weekly column on PSG Talk Extra Time, which you can subscribe to for free here.

I brought JJ in because this week has been tumultuous, to say the least, for PSG supporters. On the heels of Lionel Messi leaving to join Inter Miami in Major League Soccer, Mbappé reportedly sent a letter to inform the club he does not intend to opt into the third year of his contract. Without that extension or a new contract, Mbappé could leave on a free transfer after next season.

I asked Johnson about the timing of the story and the role the media played in publicizing the letter. I also asked him about Mbappé's tweet where he called a report about him wanting to join Real Madrid a lie. We discuss what Mbappé's true intentions could be and whether he's even happy at PSG with everything else that has been going on at the club.

We know Mbappé has always been fond of Real Madrid, but could another club swoop in and tempt PSG with a lofty transfer figure? If Los Blancos truly is the only option, can they even afford the transfer fee to sign Mbappé from PSG?

Finally, Johnson gives his verdict on whether Mbappé will be at PSG next season and how the 2024 Olympics could play a role. I also ask him about the current status of PSG's neverending managerial search.

All The Glitter Ain't Gold

Just when you thought Paris Saint-Germain was in for a relatively drama-free summer transfer window, the football gods deliver an unexpected news bomb that could forever change the club.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise and long-time contributor James to discuss the breaking news that Kylian Mbappé reportedly has sent a letter to the club and several media outlets informing them that he does not intend to opt into the additional year in his current contract. Combined with reports that PSG does not want to let Mbappé leave for free, the 24-year-old is effectively on the market.

After sharing our initial reaction to the breaking news, we dive into how Mbappé informed the club of his intentions. Why did he wait until he was on international duty to send the letter? Did PSG leak the news, or did the media receive the letter first and break the story? Is Mbappé doing PSG a favor by letting his intentions known early in the transfer window?

Next, we discuss potential destinations for Mbappé. It's almost certain that Real Madrid will submit a bid for the Frenchman, but what other clubs could submit an offer? Manchester City could pair Mbappé with Erling Haaland to create a super team better than the one that one the treble this season. Arsenal is a young, up-and-coming team with Mbappé's friend, William Saliba, in the lineup and could be an attractive destination as well. Or, could Mbappé join Manchester United and set up multiple mouthwatering fixtures every season against Haaland and City?

We wrap up the show by debating whether Mbappé will make a public statement and predicting how we think the latest Mbappé saga will play out.

PSG Talking Podcast: Transfer Reaction, Manager Rumors, and Listener Questions

Paris Saint-Germain's season ended with a Ligue 1 title celebration, but for supporters, the pyrotechnics couldn't be put out fast enough as many look forward to a much-needed summer rebuild under new leadership.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I’m joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss one of the oddest trophy celebrations in recent memory, which included a 3-2 loss to Clermont Foot 63. We also highlight Luis Campos' transfer strategy and react to the latest news about where Lionel Messi will play next and who might take over as head coach.

We begin by highlighting PSG's last match of the season. Before kickoff, it was announced that Sergio Ramos wouldn't be returning to the club, and outgoing manager Christophe Galtier was the first to announce that the match would be Messi's last in a PSG shirt. Following the loss to Clermont, PSG hoisted the trophy, but not before the Ultras booed Messi and Neymar Jr.

Next, we react to the news that Julian Nagelsmann is the frontrunner for the PSG job, with Galtier reportedly being let go. Not only is the former FC Bayern Munich man interested in the PSG job, but he could also bring Thierry Henry as an assistant. How will the French football legend impact PSG's transfer plans?

The show continues with a discussion about Marco Asensio and Manuel Ugarte, who have reportedly signed with PSG. We rate both transfers and comment on Chelsea FC's continued shenanigans regarding transfers involving Les Parisiens. We also discuss the potential arrival of Xavi Simons, Marcus Thuram, Bernardo Silva, and others.

During the podcast, news broke that Messi is reportedly considering going to FC Barcelona or Inter Miami of Major League Soccer. We react to the details of the story, including Messi taking a percentage of Apple's broadcast deal with MLS.

On the second half of the show, we answer questions sent in via Twitter and Discord.

Champions of France; Where is Neymar?

Paris Saint-Germain officially became the most successful club in France by winning its 11th Ligue 1 title. Unfortunately, not everyone thought that occasion was important enough to be in attendance.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss PSG's 1-1 draw over RC Strasbourg Alsace at the Stade de la Meinau Strasbourg that led to them being crowned champions of France. We also discuss the potential managers to replace Christophe Galtier and the latest transfer rumors.

Up first, Ethan and I share why a Ligue 1 title is still something worth celebrating even if the season as a whole has been disappointing for PSG supporters.

We then dive into the draw against Strasbourg, which once again saw a former PSG player score against his own club. We question whether El Chadaille Bitshiabu is worth keeping in the squad next season or loaning out for more experience. We also come to the conclusion that signing a quality backup goalkeeper to keep pressure on Gianluigi Donnarumma would be a good thing.

In the celebration of the Ligue 1 title, one player who was absent was Neymar Jr. While Presnel Kimpembe, Nuno Mendes, Achraf Hakimi, Fabian Ruiz, and Nordi Mukiele all made the trip despite not being in the squad, while Neymar could only post an Instagram Story of him watching the game in comfort elsewhere. We question Neymar's love for the club and plead with clubs to make a bid for the Brazil international this summer.

Neymar's best friend in the club, Lionel Messi, scored against Strasbourg and became the top scorer in the history of the five major European championships with 496 goals. We outline how PSG can replace Messi's output this season as he is expected to depart at the end of the season.

We wrap up the show by talking about the coaching carousel and the latest transfer rumors.

Wins, Whistling, and Emily in Paris

There's only a handful of matches left in the season, but at Paris Saint-Germain, major changes are on the horizon.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss PSG's two-game win streak, the Ultras' treatment of Lionel Messi, transfer rumors, and so much more.

Up first, we share our main takeaways from PSG's 5-0 win over AC Ajaccio at the Parc des Princes, and the 3-1 win away at ES Troyes AC. Has Achraf Hakimi proven that he is expendable after two red cards late in the season? Is Fabián Ruiz...good? Are the PSG Ultras in the right for whistling at Messi every time he touches the ball?

We switch gears and focus on the latest transfer rumors. PSV's Ibrahim Sangaré is reportedly close to joining PSG, but would his arrival mean the departure of Marco Verratti? Who else would PSG need to sign to fill the void left by the Italy international? Neymar reportedly wants out of Paris, and the club is willing to sell, but which club could realistically sign him this summer?

With so many incoming and outgoing transfers, PSG's financial situation will be scrutinized. Ethan breaks down the financial health of the club and what the future could look like in terms of transfers.

We wrap up the show by discussing how Ligue 1 could gain popularity in the United States and why in an alternate universe, PSG and not Inter Milan would be in the UEFA Champions League final.

Reaction to PSG's Stunning Suspension of Lionel Messi

The soap opera that is Paris Saint-Germain delivered another stunning bombshell that trended on Twitter and potentially set the stage for a new era at the club.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss the controversial suspension of Lionel Messi and the recent 3-1 loss to FC Lorient at the Parc des Princes.

Up first, we share our initial reaction to Messi being suspended for two weeks for visiting Saudi Arabia with his family for promotional reasons instead of training with his teammates. The 35-year-old reportedly did not have permission from PSG, and they took action. We debate whether there are political reasons for Messi's suspension and the level of his unprofessionalism.

The loss to Lorient was the third in six matches for PSG, and we wonder if what's going on with Messi is a glimpse into what is wrong at the club. Could the lack of respect for the manager and the overall sporting project be what's leading to lackluster performances toward the end of the season?

The show concludes with a discussion about where Messi may go next, with Inter Miami of Major League Soccer seemingly in the lead for his signature, and a discussion about how Messi's suspension may impact Neymar Jr.

Paris Pounds Lens, Galtier Takes Legal Action, and Transfer Rumors

The 2022-23 season is in its final stage, and Paris Saint-Germain has one hand on the Ligue 1 title, but that doesn't mean there isn't plenty of drama to discuss involving the capital club.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss the 3-1 win over RC Lens at the Parc des Princes. We also touch on the Christophe Galtier allegations, and debate the latest transfer rumors.

Up first, we recap the win over Lens. The match was hotly contested initially, with Lens giving PSG all they could handle, then in the 19th minute, Lens midfielder Salis Abdul Samed received a straight red after a dangerous tackle on Achraf Hakimi. Down to 10 men, the sting was taken out of the Lens attack, and PSG scored three goals in 9 minutes before halftime. We debate what we liked about the match, what we didn't, and share our overall thoughts on the victory.

Next, we discuss PSG's manager, Christophe Galtier, who is embroiled in controversy dating back to his time at OGC Nice in 2021. The alleged contents of a leaked email indicate that Galtier made racist and insensitive remarks during a meeting in 2021. While we don't know if the contents of the email are accurate and Galtier has not only denied the allegations but taken legal action, we discuss how PSG should handle the situation and whether sacking Galtier is more difficult now.

We wrap up the show by discussing transfer targets and whether PSG should go all in for superstar Victor Osimhen, or sign several players instead to fill in the holes in the squad. We also share what we'll be looking for during PSG's final seven matches and we highlight former manager, Thomas Tuchel, who is having a rough go of it at FC Bayern Munich.

The Kardashian Curse Hits Paris

It's the international break, but we're still fuming over Paris Saint-Germain's pitiful performance against Stade Rennais. Luckily, there are always transfer rumors to soothe the soul.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan of PSG Fan Club Boise to break down PSG's 2-0 defeat to Rennes at the Parc des Princes, debate whether Kylian Mbappé could become the captain of PSG, and which players could be coming to the French capital this summer.

Up first, it's that loss to Rennes. PSG played well with a makeshift squad but couldn't beat Steve Mandanda in goal. Two players with ties to Paris scored for Rennes, and we wonder aloud whether PSG president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, will stop buying superstars and focus on the talent on his front doorstep. We also look ahead to a daunting Ligue 1 schedule for PSG, where they could drop substantial points and give rivals Olympique de Marseille hope of winning the title.

We change gears slightly and talk about the managerial situation at Bayern Munich. How could they soundly beat PSG in the Champions League with so much turmoil behind the scenes? We zoom out a little farther and look at Europe's top leagues. With Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, and Napoli leading their respective leads, is a revolution underfoot in which clubs build through their academies and make smart signings instead of chasing the biggest names and throwing the most money around?

During the second half of the show, we discuss Mbappé being named captain of the France national team and what it would mean for Marquinhos if he's removed as captain in favor of the Frenchman. We also discuss Xavi Simons potential return to Paris and whether brothers Khéphren Thuram and Marcus Thuram could be on the move to PSG as well.

PSG Battered By Bayern; Barely Better Than Brest

Last week was the climax of Paris Saint-Germain's season, and unlike an M. Night Shyamalan film, there was no surprise ending or twist. Just the same old PSG crashing out of the UEFA Champions League without barely a fight.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined once again by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss the loss to Bayern Munich, the ripple effects from the result of the tie, and recap last-minute win on the road against Stade Brestois 29.

Up first, we get into PSG's defeat at the Allianz Arena, where they crashed out of the UEFA Champions League in the Round of 16 for the second-consecutive year. We discuss Marquinhos' injury and whether he should have started the match, why PSG's bench lacks quality, why PSG can't elevate their performance when it's needed most, and what long-lasting impacts this result could have on the club.

Ethan has been vocal on social media that he wants new ownership at PSG. He shares his reasons why and explains the type of owner he would prefer.

The second half of the show is all about the win over Brest. We both expected PSG to lose this match, considering the letdown against Bayern. Still, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé carried the club to victory in the dying moments of the match. We share what we liked, and didn't like about this fixture.

Other topics we cover include PSG's upcoming fixture list and whether Renato Sanches has a part to play for PSG next season.

Under Investigation and Under Pressure

What other team-focused football podcast can the hosts talk about a player being indicted, a club president under investigation for kidnapping, and a controversial late-night McDonald's run? You get all that and more on the latest PSG Talking podcast.

On this drama-filled episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan of PSG Talk Fan Club Boise to discuss PSG's recent results and look ahead to the return leg against Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League.

Up first, we catch up with Ethan who was at the Parc des Princes for PSG's 1-0 loss to Bayern and Lionel Messi's thrilling stoppage-time winner against Lille OSC. We get a glimpse into what the atmosphere was like for both matches and drill down into what went wrong for PSG against Bayern.

PSG's most recent match was a convincing 3-0 win over rivals Olympique de Marseille at the Orange Vélodrome. It was a masterful performance from Kylian Mbappé and Messi, but is it a performance supporters can expect moving forward now that we've seen Marseille fall on hard times as of late? Should Christophe Galtier play the same lineup from this match against Bayern, or should he change things up?

Two players who won't be making an appearance in Germany are Neymar Jr. and Presnel Kimpembe. The Brazilian is once again injured for the business end of PSG's season and Kimpembe's achilles tendon injury, suffered in the Marseille match, will keep him out for nearly the remainder of his contract (June 2024). We debate whether or not PSG should keep these players or look to sell this summer.

Off the pitch, PSG is dealing with legal issues concerning right-back Achraf Hakimi and president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi. Hakimi has been accused of rape, while Al-Khelaifi has been the subject of a "kidnapping and torture" investigation in France. While we don't get into the details of each situation, we do question whether the drama is worth it and if the club would be better off under new ownership.

The show concludes with our predictions for PSG's trip to the Allianz Arena, whether Messi will resign with PSG, and what impact Qatar's potential investment in Manchester United could have on PSG.

Transfer Talk, Match Recaps, and a Friendly in Saudi Arabia?

New year, new podcast! Paris Saint-Germain returned to action following the FIFA World Cup and many supporters are wondering if some fresh faces are needed in the French capital to get the club over the UEFA Champions League hump.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to break down PSG's recent fixtures, discuss potential transfer targets, look ahead at the upcoming schedule, and discuss an oddly scheduled friendly for the club.

Up first is the 2-1 win over RC Strasbourg Alsace. There were plenty of talking points in this match at the Parc des Princes, including Marquinhos scoring two goals—one for PSG and one for the visitors—Kylian Mbappé's game-winning goal, and Neymar Jr.'s red card for diving.

Prior to the kickoff against Strasbourg, PSG announced Marco Verratti signed a new contract keeping him at the club until 2026. We discuss what it means for a club like PSG to keep so many world-class players in the squad beyond their initial contract.

Next, we take on the 3-1 drubbing at RC Lens. Should supporters be worried that PSG came up short on the road facing an atmosphere like the one they'll likely see in the Champions League? Also, could Lens beat PSG to the Ligue 1 title as they sit only four points behind the capital club?

Most recently, the youngsters got a chance to shine against LB Châteauroux in the Coupe de France. PSG escaped with a comfortable 3-1 victory and we wonder if Hugo Ekitike could see more playing time in the future. We also discuss the latest media rights in the United States regarding the Coupe de France.

The January transfer window is officially open, but as we discuss on the show, it's unlikely PSG will make a big splash. Financial Fair Play will almost certainly keep PSG from bringing in the type of center-back they need to strengthen the defense but could a few player sales fund a star signing?

Looking ahead, we wonder when Lionel Messi will return to the starting lineup, whether there's bad blood between Messi and Mbappé, and why in the world PSG would schedule a friendly in Saudi Arabia in the middle of January.

World Cup Surprises and Ronaldo Rumors

The calendar has flipped to December and while Paris Saint-Germain isn't in action due to the FIFA World Cup, plenty of PSG players have made headlines in Qatar.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm once again joined by Ethan from PSG Fan Club Boise to discuss the surprises and disappointments so far in the World Cup and debate whether two participants would be a good fit at PSG.

We begin with our surprises of the tournament so far. Several notable nations, such as Belgium, Germany, Mexico, and Uruguay crashed out of the group stage while Achraf Hakimi's Morocco managed to top Group F and advance to the knockout stage.

Defending champions, France, entered the tournament with injuries to key players but thus far hasn't let that slow them down. Kylian Mbappé has been the player of the tournament so far and Olivier Giroud became France's all-time leading scorer. Could a date with England prove to be too difficult or can Mbappé lead his nation past a squad full of Premier League stars?

Unfortunately, the tournament hasn't been without injuries to PSG players. Nuno Mendes went down for Portugal and Neymar Jr. injured his ankle in Brazil's first match against Serbia. With news that Neymar could play in the Round of 16, we question whether he's fully healthy or if he's risking further injury by coming back too soon.

The show concludes with some transfer speculation. We discuss one player in particular who has caught our eye at the tournament and would be a good fit at PSG and debate whether Cristiano Ronaldo and Adrien Rabiot should be transfer targets in the near future.

Grading PSG's First Half of the Season + World Cup Preview

An unprecedented pause to the season has allowed Paris Saint-Germain supporters to evaluate the squad's first-half performance and look ahead to what is expected to be an unpredictable FIFA World Cup.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ethan, the president of PSG Fan Club Boise, to discuss the club's unbeaten run to start the season and talk a little World Cup.

Up first, it's PSG who holds a comfortable lead at the top of the Ligue 1 table, but was unlucky to finish second behind SL Benfica in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League. We debate who PSG's best player has been and call out a few players who have been far from their best.

There's also been plenty of drama with PSG this season. We give our thoughts on penaltygate that took place early in the season and the news that Kylian Mbappé apparently wants to leave as soon as possible.

We wrap up our PSG discussion by predicting how far Christophe Galtier can lead PSG in the Champions League. Can he navigate PSG past FC Bayern Munich in the Round of 16 and potentially reach the final?

The second half of the podcast is all about the World Cup. All eyes will be on Brazil's Neymar Jr. and Argentina's Lionel Messi and we predict which PSG superstar will lead his team to the final. We also comment on the fact that Mbappé is the only PSG player on France's squad following Presnel Kimpembe's unfortunate departure due to injury.

We conclude the show by picking our surprises for the tournament and whether Qatar will sell Paris Saint-Germain after the World Cup.

Mbappé Drama Reaches a Boiling Point

After a stellar start to the 2022-23 season, things have started to fall off the rails at Paris Saint-Germain both on and off the pitch.

On this episode of PSG Talking, Tyrone Taylor hosts, and he's joined by Jon Olangi and James Carter to break down several hot-button topics including the news that Kylian Mbappé wants out at PSG.

Before getting into the more salacious news, we kick things off with a discussion of PSG's 1-1 draw against SL Benfica on matchday four. Mbappé put PSG up 1-0 in the first half via a penalty, but Christophe Galtier's squad couldn't hold onto the lead and Benfica equalized in the second half. It was the second draw against Benfica for PSG in the span of a week and questions are starting to be asked of the defense and Gianluigi Donnarumma who appears to be incapable of playing the ball out from the back.

The conversation then turns to Le Classique where PSG will face their rivals without a full squad. Marseille is within striking distance of PSG in the table and will look to embarrass the capital club in the French capital. For PSG, it's a chance to silence some of their critics and take control of the Ligue 1 title chase. Winning cures all and PSG needs a dominating performance in front of what will be a raucous crowd at the Parc des Princes.

Finally, it's the moment you've all been waiting for. Our PSG experts jump head-first into the Mbappé drama. Essentially, hours before PSG's match against Benfica, several outlets across Europe (The Guardian) reported that Mbappé felt betrayed by PSG's leadership and that the club sold him promises that weren't kept. To make matters worse, the reports go on to claim that Mbappé wants to be sold as early as January.

If the reports are true, should PSG sell Mbappé as soon as possible to the highest bidder? Or, will PSG do what they did towards the end of Mbappé's last contract and refuse to sell him if an offer comes in? Is the drama worth what Mbappé brings to the team on the pitch? Also, what promises did PSG make that Mbappé feels they didn't deliver?

We don't have all the answers and the situation will certainly make for a very interesting season that is only made more complicated by a mid-season FIFA World Cup.

Grading Paris Saint-Germain's Transfer Window + Champions League Preview

Paris Saint-Germain has yet to taste defeat this season, but that doesn't mean there isn't always room for improvement.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Marc Damon to dissect PSG's summer transfer window and preview the upcoming UEFA Champions League group stage, which kicks off next week against Juventus FC.

We begin with the transfer window where PSG signed several players to strengthen the midfield especially, but also the overall depth of the squad. We also discuss the players who left the club and debate why Leonardo, PSG's former sporting director, was unable—or unwilling—to offload players like Julian Draxler and Layvin Kurzawa.

One player who didn't leave, but was expected to, was Keylor Navas. Was this a case of no offers coming in for the Costa Rican, or, is this a sign that Christophe Galtier, PSG's manager, may not trust Gianluigi Donnarumma fully?

After grading Luis Campos and Antero Henrique on their first transfer window for PSG, we turn our attention to the Champions League. The reigning French champions were drawn into a relatively easy group, but we discuss the challenges that Juventus and Benfica may present for Galtier who is relatively untested in the competition.

We conclude the show with some talk about Ligue 1 broadcasting rights in the United States and the current form of Neymar Jr.

All Hail GOAT-IER

Paris Saint-Germain is already showing noticeable improvements on the pitch this season, but unfortunately, the drama that has embroiled this club since the Qatar Sports Investments takeover still lingers.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Marc Damon during PSG's Ligue 1 match against Lille OSC. We spend the entire first half discussing Penaltygate 2.0 and PSG's recent performances on the pitch. We also stop periodically to admire the four goals scored in the opening 45 minutes as well.

First, we tackle the drama. Essentially, it boils down to this. Kylian Mbappé wants to be the first choice when it comes to taking penalties at PSG. Unfortunately, the Frenchman might be the third or fourth best penalty taker at the club. Neymar Jr. is clearly better at converting those chances, but following his decision to sign a new contract at PSG, Mbappé does have a more commanding voice regarding the sporting project. We discuss whether Mbappé has a clause in his contract that stipulates he takes all penalties, whether the situation has been overblown, and if Neymar is at fault for taking a penalty against Montpellier after Mbappé missed his chance.

We then take a break from the penalty drama and focus on all the good happening on the pitch. Through the first three Ligue 1 matches, the reigning champions have outscored their opponents 17-3. How has Christophe Galtier, aka GOAT-ier, unlocked the potential of this team? Is it Sergio Ramos finally being healthy? The move to a back three? The addition of Vitinha? PSG's world-class full-backs? Ultimately, PSG's start to the season is an indictment on Mauricio Pochettino who fooled people into thinking Lionel Messi was washed up.

We wrap up the show by previewing the upcoming UEFA Champions League draw and listing the teams we hope are drawn against PSG.

Season of Optimism

Paris Saint-Germain might be having the best offseason of any club in Europe. From Kylian Mbappé signing a new contract until 2025 to new leadership at the club, there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic heading into the 2022-23 season.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Stu from Parisian Londoner (Instagram | YouTube) to discuss the many changes at the club that have taken place and what still needs to be done in order to win the coveted UEFA Champions League title.

While I am very optimistic about the season and look forward to the squad's new direction under new manager Christophe Galtier, there are reasons to be concerned. The former OGC Nice and Lille OSC manager doesn't have much experience in the Champions League and he's never managed superstars like Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, and Neymar Jr.

Up next, we discuss the possibility that Galtier will rely on PSG's talented youth players to fill out the squad and actually give them playing time to show what they can do. We discuss the youth players we're most excited about and how they could help keep PSG afloat with the FIFA World Cup scheduled to interrupt the season.

We then turn our attention to PSG's superstars and predict what we might see from Mbappé, Messi, and Neymar Jr. Can the Frenchman take his game to the next level? At 35 years old, is Messi still a regular starter for PSG? And can Neymar rebound from an average season and finally lead PSG to a Champions League title?

To wrap up the show, we give our prediction on Galtier's starting lineup and how many trophies PSG will win this season.

No Player Will Be Above the Team

After the conclusion of last season, the deep-rooted issues at Paris Saint-Germain were glaring to most supporters. Now, on the brink of pre-season, many of those issues have surprisingly been addressed and a new era at the club has begun.

On this live episode of PSG Talking, recorded via Twitter Spaces, I'm joined by my co-host, Marc Damon, to break down the news of Christophe Galtier officially becoming PSG's manager after the dismissal of Mauricio Pochettino.

We discuss his press conference, which included an interesting comment about how "no single player will be above the team." Was that a veiled threat toward some of PSG's superstar players?

Galtier, who hails from Marseille, signed a two-year contract with PSG and will need to get to work quickly in what is a unique UEFA World Cup year. We discuss possible formations, what to expect in Ligue 1 play, and whether his inexperience in the UEFA Champions League could come back to haunt the capital club.

After Marc and I bloviate for a while, we invite listeners onto the show to share their opinion on Galtier, PSG's new sporting director, Luis Campos, the club's lone signing so far this summer, and so much more.

Reaction to Mbappé Rejecting Real Madrid and Staying at PSG

The UEFA Champions League final is this weekend, but for Paris Saint-Germain supporters, the biggest trophy was won over the weekend.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ty Taylor, James Teague, and Guillaume Delaporte to discuss to incredible turn of events that led to Kylian Mbappé turning down a chance to play for Real Madrid and instead, signing a new contract with PSG until 2025.

We begin the show by asking the panel to share their initial thoughts on Mbappé's decision and what it means for PSG and Ligue 1 to have arguably the best player in the world staying in his home country of France. I also deliver a hot take that Mbappé was never really considering Real Madrid and went out of his way to troll their fans and the Spanish media.

Next, I ask the panel why they think Mbappé decided to remain in the French capital. Was his decision based purely on money, as so many in the media have stated, or does he simply have a deep love for his home country and the city where he was born?

We also discuss how Real Madrid fans reacted to the news, La Liga's threat to take legal action against PSG, and whether the Spanish champions would ever welcome Mbappé in the future if he wanted to come.

While we don't have the official figures and terms of his contract, it's been reported that Mbappé will have a say in the sporting project at PSG. We debate whether this is a good thing for the club considering Neymar Jr. has had similar power in the past and that hasn't led to Champions League glory.

Other topics we cover in the podcast include PSG's summer plans, changes in the hierarchy, and whether Mbappé does need to leave the French point at some point in his career to test himself against tougher competition.

Decision Time for Kylian Mbappé

The end of the season is on the horizon, but as always with Paris Saint-Germain, it's what's happening off the pitch that has football fans around the world buzzing.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by the creator behind PSG Hub, one of the most popular PSG accounts on Twitter and a go-to source for news about the club for fans around the world.

Up first, I ask PSG Hub how the account started and whether he's been surprised by the growth of the account in such a short time.

Next, we dive into the latest reports regarding Kylian Mbappé's contract situation. Many believe he is destined to play for Real Madrid, but should PSG supporters hold out hope that their superstar will remain in the French capital? Could political pressure convince him to sign an extension?

We also discuss the timing of Mbappé's ultimate decision and whether there is anything that PSG can do to convince him to stay. If he does go to Madrid, PSG Hub and I discuss the potential for failure if Mbappé doesn't live up to the lofty expectations and financial investment made to bring him to Spain.

Assuming Mbappé does depart once his contract expires, PSG will have a huge hole to fill in its attack, not to mention the midfield which needs a complete rebuild. PSG Hub and I discuss potential summer transfer targets and whether Zinedine Zidane could replace Mauricio Pochettino as manager.

Other topics discussed include a potential shakeup in PSG's hierarchy, the controversial situation surrounding Idrissa Gueye, and what will likely be Angel Di Maria's last match for Paris Saint-Germain.

Renewed Focus Needed at Star-Studded Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain claimed its tenth Ligue 1 title in club history, but for supporters, this supposed dream season has been a nightmare.

On the latest PSG Talking podcast, Ty Taylor hosts and he's joined by French football expert, PSG fan, and CBS Sports Golazo correspondent, Jonathan Johnson, to discuss PSG's season, the unbalanced squad made worse by big-name signings, potential replacements for Mauricio Pochettino, and so much more!

Up first, Ty and Jonathan discuss PSG's historic French league victory, in which they tied AS Saint-Étienne for the most ever. Is the title something worth celebrating or has the failure in the UEFA Champions League overshadowed the accomplishment?

Next, the duo breaks down PSG's unbalanced squad in which even the signing of Lionel Messi is questioned. Compared to an overdecorated Christmas tree by Jonathan, how could Mauricio Pochettino fail to put out an entertaining product on the pitch with so many stars at his disposal?

Speaking of Pochettino, it's almost certain that he will be dismissed after the season and Ty asks Jonathan who could realistically replace him. Zinedine Zidane is a popular choice, but his Marseille roots and desire to manage the France national team may remove him from the running. Could another former player, Thiago Motta, take over for the Argentine?

One player who will certainly be watching the managerial situation is Kylian Mbappé, who only has a month left on his contract and has yet to officially announce whether he'll sign an extension and remain in Paris, or leave for Real Madrid.

Other topics covered in this episode include whether or not Leonardo, PSG's sporting director, will be dismissed and possible replacements, potential summer transfer targets, and why PSG must focus more on the sporting project and less on marketing opportunities.

We Need a New Era at Paris Saint-Germain to Keep Mbappé

The season isn't over, but it feels that way for Paris Saint-Germain supporters. The loss to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League still stings and the outcome will have a lasting effect on the club for years to come.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Lee Davey who was at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium and witnessed PSG collapse under the pressure and allow Real Madrid to snatch victory from their grasp.

We start the episode with Lee sharing his feeling heading into the match and describing the atmosphere around the ground. Despite having a one-goal lead and outplaying Real Madrid, Lee explains why he was still nervous about facing a team that has the ability to turn up the pressure when it matters in the Champions League.

The match turned on Gianluigi Donnarumma's mistake, which Karim Benzema capitalized on, but I ask Lee whether he thinks VAR should have overturned the goal. I also get his thoughts on who he thinks is to blame for the loss. Is it Mauricio Pochettino's fault, or, are players like Neymar Jr., Lionel Messi, and Marquinhos to blame?

Mbappé was outstanding over the two legs against Madrid, but it wasn't enough and the France international suffered yet another defeat to Los Blancos. I ask Lee whether Mbappé's legacy will be tarnished if he joins a team he couldn't beat and if should be considered a PSG legend.

We conclude the show with a discussion about the PSG Ultras jeering the players last week against FC Girondins de Bordeaux at the Parc des Princes and how Lee would fix PSG if he were in charge of the club. Seriously, PSG...Lee and I will fix your problems for shop credit. No salary needed!

It's Time to Blow Up the Paris Saint-Germain Project

Just when you think Paris Saint-Germain has turned the corner and their days of embarrassing losses in the UEFA Champions League are over, they come up with a new way to remain the laughing-stock of world football.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Tyrone Taylor and Guillaume Delaporte to discuss PSG's 3-1 loss to Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, which saw them crash out of the Champions League in the Round of 16.

We start the show with our overall thoughts on the shocking defeat and then discuss the first half, where PSG went up 1-0 thanks to Kylian Mbappé, but the cracks were beginning to show. From Neymar Jr.'s lazy passing to Lionel Messi barely moving to Marquinhos' uncharacteristically bad performance, PSG clearly wasn't ready for a Madrid side that was out for blood.

The biggest moment in the game came with Gianluigi Donnarumma playing a pass across his own goal that ultimately led to Real Madrid's first score. It was clearly a bad decision from the Italy international, but he was also clearly fouled by Karim Benzema. Should VAR have been used in this situation to overturn the goal and what impact would that have had on the game?

The loss to Madrid means so much more than no more Champions League football this season for PSG. It could be what sends Mbappé to Real Madrid this summer and that could spark a complete rebuild, which we all believe is necessary. Everyone from the club president to the manager is on the hot seat and even stars like Messi and Neymar could be on the move before next season.

Paris Saint-Germain Limps Into Real Madrid Rematch

When it comes to Paris Saint-Germain's Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League performances this season, you couldn't find two bigger polar opposites. This week, the rubber hits the road as the French giants travel to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium with a spot in the quarter-finals of the European tournament on the line.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I join host Tyrone Taylor and long-time contributor James Teague to preview the highly-anticipated match between PSG and Real Madrid and highlight the hottest talking points surrounding the fixture.

Up first, we discuss the news that dominated Twitter on Monday morning, which is, of course, the injury Kylian Mbappé sustained in training. At first, it was reported by ESPN that PSG's star player would be a doubt for the match against Real Madrid, and fans on both sides of the aisle took to social media to discuss what it meant for the tie. As the day continued, however, Mbappé's injury was reported to be not as serious as originally thought and that he was likely to feature against Madrid.

We discuss the fan reaction, Idrissa Gueye's involvement in the injury, and why Mbappé doesn't wear some kind of bright yellow shirt that signals that he shouldn't be touched at any point in training.

Up next, we discuss PSG's latest injury report. Outside of a few players, PSG's squad is fully available to Mauricio Pochettino. One notable name that is absent is former Real Madrid star, Sergio Ramos. Since arriving at PSG last summer, the 35-year-old has only featured in a handful of games and we question if he will make any kind of impact this season.

We then turn our attention to Real Madrid's recent form where they are undefeated since losing to PSG in the first leg of the tie. Carlo Ancelotti will be without the services of Ferland Mendy and Casemiro due to suspension and may have a less-than-fit Toni Kroos. Will they be able to ride the emotion of their home supporters and put PSG under pressure, or, will the leadership of Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr. be enough for PSG to withstand the storm?

The show then concludes with a few predictions and plans for how we intend to spend our time if the match between PSG and Real Madrid goes into penalty kicks.

Reaction to Paris Saint-Germain's Win Over Real Madrid

The stars were out last Tuesday at the Parc des Princes, but it was the biggest star that stepped up and brought Paris Saint-Germain supporters around the world to their feet in celebration.

On the latest PSG Talking podcast, Tyrone Taylor hosts and he's joined by fellow contributors Jon Olangi, James Carter, Eduardo Razo, and Guillaume Delaporte to break down every aspect of PSG's 1-0 win over Real Madrid in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

To start, the panel shares their initial reaction to PSG's dominating performance and well-deserved victory over Real Madrid. The conversation continues and the team does a deep-dive on Mauricio Pochettino's tactics and Kylian Mbappé's special 90 minutes of football that was capped off with a game-winning goal.

Next, Ty asks the group to comment on the removal of the away goal in the Champions League this season and whether that was the reason for Real Madrid's negative tactics or if it was PSG's talent that was too overwhelming?

Heading into the second leg of the tie, Real Madrid will be without Casimiro and Ferland Mendy due to yellow-card accumulation. Down a goal and outplayed at every level in the first leg, can Los Blancos turn things around with two of their starters out?

The show concludes with a discussion about what PSG must do next. What is the strategy with Sergio Ramos who is close to returning to the squad following an injury? Can Lionel Messi turn in a much better performance? Should PSG change tactics heading into the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium? This may be Mbappé's last season in a PSG shirt and with so much at stake, the team seems prepared to finally deliver the trophy fans covet the most and cement their legacies.

Real Madrid Supporter Explains How to Stop PSG Attack

Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid are two clubs that have been connected at the hip the past couple of years and on Tuesday, they will face off at the Parc des Princes for what is easily the marquee matchup of the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I welcome Muddassir Hussain from the Real Talk podcast to discuss every angle of the highly-anticipated match between PSG and Real Madrid on Tuesday at the Parc des Princes.

We begin the show with a topic on the minds of PSG and Real Madrid fans and that is the availability of Karim Benzema. The former Olympique Lyonnais man has been out with an injury and is racing to return in time for the trip to Paris. I ask Muddassir if he thinks Benzema will play or if he would prefer to rest him for the return leg when he's hopefully fully fit.

Next, I ask about Real Madrid's current form in league play. After a blistering start to the season, have things quieted down, or are they peaking at the right time?

The conversation then turns towards PSG's superstars and whether Real Madrid will have the players capable of slowing down the likes Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, and potentially Neymar Jr. if he's able to return from injury in time.

Muddassir predicts Real Madrid's starting lineup, gives his thoughts on whether the outcome of this tie will have an impact on where Mbappé plays next season, and predicts the final score.

Stay Positive and Believe Like Ted Lasso

On Tuesday, the business end of Paris Saint-Germain's season begins and there's never been more on the line than now.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I make my triumphant return and I'm joined by long-time contributor, Guillaume Delaporte, to recap PSG's win over Stade Rennais, we also preview the massive Real Madrid match, and react to the controversial comments made by the Ultras.

The show begins with a quick recap of the 1-0 win over Rennes. Kylian Mbappé's stoppage-time winner secured the three points, but how worried should fans be that the last tune-up for Real Madrid was less than inspiring?

Around the 17-minute mark, we transition to the upcoming match against Real Madrid in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League. We address Neymar Jr.'s availability and whether or not PSG should play him in this match or keep him on the bench as he's just getting back from injury.

We also discuss Madrid's most potent attacker, Karim Benzema, and the problems he will cause PSG's defense. In the midfield, PSG will be overpowered there as well. While Marco Verratti will hold his own, will Mauricio Pochettino play Idrissa Gueye to mark Toni Kroos or will he go with a somewhat in-form Danilo Pereira?

Regardless of the lineup and who's available, we both agree that PSG supporters should remain positive and get behind this team. We may question Pochettino's tactics and the constant injuries at times, but now is not the time for negativity. PSG can absolutely beat Real Madrid over the two legs and advance to the next round.

Speaking of supporters voicing their opinion and frustration, a PSG Ultra group (Collectif Ultras Paris) issued a statement that absolutely skewered the club and the executives running it. Their complaints range from the team wearing the recently released fourth kit at home to not getting rid of the players within the squad who offer very little on the pitch but collect hefty wages. Guillaume does his best to explain the criticism and why their timing couldn't be worse.

The show concludes with us highlighting one of the promising youngsters in PSG's ranks and we give our prediction for the Real Madrid match.

Big Brace Boys Out Here

With the highly-anticipated match against Real Madrid on the horizon, Paris Saint-Germain must first take care of business in Ligue 1 and look good while doing it in order to build momentum.

On this episode of PSG Talking, Tyrone Taylor hosts and he's joined by Jon Olangi and James Carter to break down PSG's commanding 5-1 win over Lille OSC, look ahead to the match against Madrid, react to the harsh comments from the Ultras, and what the PSG project could look like after this season.

Up first, it's PSG win over Lille at the Stade Pierre Mauroy. Danilo Pereira scored a brace, Kylian Mbappé scored a golazo, Lionel Messi and Presnel Kimpembe both chipped in with a goal, and overall, the players looked like they were having fun on the pitch. The match was also memorable because youngster Xavi Simons got the start. What does this mean for his career and is it enough to convince him to stay in the French capital?

The conversation then shifts to the massive match against Real Madrid in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League. How big of a loss is Karim Benzema for Madrid if he can't suit up? Where will Mauricio Pochettino play Messi? And what will Mbappé's mindset be as he faces off against the club of his childhood and one that he could very well be playing for next season?

Later in the show, Ty and the team addresses the recent outcry from the PSG Ultras towards the club and the executives who make the decisions. Are their concerns valid and what will be the fallout?

The show concludes with a discussion about potentially restructuring the PSG project and whether that means some stars could be leaving the squad this summer.

Was Messi a Bad Signing for Paris Saint-Germain?

After a historic summer transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain supporters were let down in January despite several glaring holes in the squad.

On this episode of PSG Talking, Tyrone Taylor hosts and he's joined by fellow contributors, Jon Olangi and James Carter.

The show begins with a recap of PSG's underwhelming January transfer window where the problem appears to be two-fold. First, why was Leonardo, PSG's sporting director, unable to get certain deals over the line, like Tanguy Ndombele who clearly wanted to be in the French capital but ended up at Olympique Lyonnais instead? The second issue when it comes to transfers is Leonardo's inability to sell players who are doing very little other than training and collecting their wages.

The conversation then turns a bit dark with some realities that PSG supporters may have to come to grips with. First, Ty shares his hot take on whether PSG should have signed Messi at all and that he creates more problems than he solves. All too often this season, the legend has gone missing during games in a league he should absolutely be dominating.

Then, Ty shares how bad things could get for PSG if they lose to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, and then Kylian Mbappé decides to join them next summer on a free transfer. In retrospect, should PSG have accepted their offer before the season started? And, is the PSG project approaching the point where a complete reset is needed?

To wrap up the podcast, the panel discusses the loss to OGC Nice in the Coupe de France. The match went to penalty kicks and with PSG needing to convert to stay alive, 18-year-old Xavi Simons stepped up but it was Marcin Bułka (on loan from PSG) who made the save for Nice to secure the win. After the match, Mauricio Pochettino's comments about not selecting Simons to take the penalty left many PSG fans frustrated because it shows the disfunction between the players and the manager.

If You Don't Like Neymar, You Don't Like Football

While Paris Saint-Germain fans eagerly await the tie against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League, fans were treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the life of Neymar Jr. thanks to a new Netflix documentary.

On the latest episode of PSG Talking, Tyrone Taylor hosts, and he's joined by fellow PSG Talk contributor, Jon Olangi, to break down the latest news out of Paris both on and off the pitch.

The show begins with a conversation about the documentary, titled, Neymar: The Perfect Chaos. Ty and Jon share their thoughts on Neymar's relationship with his father, the dynamic in the locker room, jealousy, and the impact Kobe Bryant's death had on the Brazilian superstar.

Up next, the conversation turns to the 4-0 win over Stade de Reims. For the first time in a long time, PSG played attacking football and even Marco Verratti scored two goals! Sergio Ramos got his first goal in a PSG shirt and Messi returned from COVID-19 for a few minutes. Can fans expect more of the same and can Mauro Icardi and Kylian Mbappé coexist on the pitch together?

Later in the episode, Ty and Jon break down the latest transfer rumors, including whether they think Tanguy Ndombele will arrive from Tottenham Hotspur and why PSG might be interested in FC Barcelona's Ousmane Dembélé.

Ty and Jon wrap up the show with an update on the Africa Cup of Nations and share a hilarious clip of Jamie Carragher admitting that Lionel Messi called him a donkey via an Instagram direct message.

Poisonous Atmosphere and Lack of Respect Costing Paris Saint-Germain

On paper, Paris Saint-Germain has one of the best squads ever assembled, but behind the scenes, something just isn't right and it could cost them the UEFA Champions League title and one of its superstars.

On the final episode of PSG Talking in 2021, I'm joined by French football expert and CBS Sports Golazo correspondent, Jonathan Johnson, to discuss the first half of PSG's season, Kylian Mbappé's future, Mauricio Pochettino difficulties, and more!

To kick off the show, I bluntly ask Johnson who is to blame for PSG's lackluster first half of the season? Is it the manager's inability to get the most out of one of the best squads in Europe? Is it the players who appear disinterested the majority of the time? Or, is it the fault of the sporting director, Leonardo, who put the whole thing together?

Next, I ask JJ about Pochettino's future and whether or not Zinedine Zidane could replace him in the French capital in 2022. One issue that is brought up when discussing Zidane potentially managing PSG is his Marseille roots. Johnson explains the rivalry between the two cities and gives his thoughts on whether it might keep him from taking the job at the Parc des Princes.

Just recently, Mbappé gave an interview to CNN after being crowned the Best Men's Player of the Year at the Glove Soccer Awards 2021. In that interview, the PSG superstar was asked about playing with Lionel Messi, his desire to win everything with PSG, and the rumors linking him with a move to Real Madrid. I ask Johnson what his biggest takeaway from the interview was.

To wrap up the show, we talk Champions League and discuss what it might take to defeat Real Madrid in the Round of 16 and whether that might convince Mbappé to stick around in Paris for another couple of years.

PSG Féminine Overcome Drama and Keep Title Hopes Alive

One Paris Saint-Germain team has already defeated Real Madrid 6-0 this season on aggregate, and it ain't the men.

On the latest episode of PSG Talking, I hand over hosting duties to Mikko Kapanen from PSG Fan Club Helsinki to discuss the latest news surrounding PSG Féminines. Joining him on the show are Alfonso Mitch from PSG Fan Club Chicago and Vale Gallardo, a passionate supporter of PSG and the women's game.

The show begins with the panel discussing how they started following PSG Féminines and the conversation transitions into last season's Division 1 Féminine title and a busy summer transfer window where the club had to replace several outgoing players.

Of course, the situation between Kheira Hamraoui and Aminata Diallo, which made headlines around the world, is mentioned and the trio discusses how that bit of drama affected the club and led to the 6-1 defeat to rivals Olympique Lyonnais.

To conclude the podcast, Mikko, Alfonso, and Vale look ahead to the UEFA Women's Champions League quarter-final where PSG faces a difficult tie against FC Bayern Munich. See if PSG can advance past the German giants by checking out the tournament on YouTube.

Bring on Real Madrid; Champions League Draw Reaction

Paris Saint-Germain could be credited with the demise of FC Barcelona, and now, they set their aim on another La Liga giant in the UEFA Champions League.

On this episode of PSG Talking, Tyrone Taylor hosts and is joined by James Teague, James Carter, Eduardo Razo, and Ed to discuss a chaotic Champions League draw.

Up first, we react to UEFA completely botching the draw and then blaming it on some third-party vendor. PSG initially drew Manchester United, pitting Cristiano Ronaldo against Lionel Messi, but then it was discovered that teams that shouldn't have been in the same pot were, the entire draw was scrapped and a redo was ordered. After the second draw, PSG drew Real Madrid, the club Kylian Mbappé is rumored to be heading next summer.

Next, we go around the horn and give our prediction for the tie against Real Madrid. Will the removal of the away goals rule hurt PSG? Is Real Madrid peaking as a team too early? Can Neymar Jr. and Sergio Ramos return from injury to propel PSG to victory despite a lackluster midfield? Finally, how will Mbappé handle his contract situation leading up to the highly-anticipated matchup?

With the January transfer window about to open, should PSG look to add a player or two to reinforce its midfield? Could a managerial change be in the works? Zinedine Zidane is available and is very familiar with Los Blancos.

We wrap up the show by giving our final thoughts on the Round of 16, including Ed's prediction that PSG's former manager, Thomas Tuchel, will go down to Ligue 1 side Lille OSC.

Champions League Draw Prediction

The holiday season is upon us and soon, Paris Saint-Germain will be gifted their opponent in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League.

On the latest episode of PSG Talking, Tyrone Taylor hosts and he's joined by fellow contributors James Carter, John Olangi, and Eduardo Razo to discuss PSG's win over Club Brugge, the upcoming Champions League draw, and other team news.

Up first, the panel breaks down PSG's 4-1 win over Brugge. With second place already secured in Group A, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé both recorded a brace as PSG cruised to victory. The guys wonder whether the attack functions better without Neymar Jr.

The next topic up for discussion is the Champions League draw where PSG could potentially face Liverpool FC, AFC Ajax, Real Madrid, FC Bayern Munich, Manchester United, or Juventus FC. There are so many storylines, including Messi vs. Cristiano Ronaldo if PSG draws Manchester United. There's the potential PSG could face Real Madrid with Mbappé having already signed a pre-contract with the La Liga giants. Find out which team our panel believes PSG will draw in the knockout stage.

The show concludes with some talk about potential transfers, the unreliability of Marco Verratti, PSG's talented youngsters, and the removal of the away goals rule in the Champions League.

Glamour and Punishment

I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's not easy being a Paris Saint-Germain supporter.

Sure, you have a star-studded squad and endless amounts of cash to sign more players, but between injuries, coaching drama, and unrealistic expectations, the club is constantly making headlines for all the wrong reasons.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Guillaume Delaporte to discuss PSG's 3-1 win over AS Saint-Étienne, Mauricio Pochettino's future at the club, injuries, and the UEFA Champions League Round of 16.

Up first, we break down the win over Saint-Étienne at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard. The offense looked better, but the defense was beaten once again by a diagonal pass into the box to wide-open attackers. Sergio Ramos did start and despite the goal given up by PSG, we were impressed overall with his performance.

During the match against ASSE, Neymar Jr. went down with another ankle injury and had to be carried off the pitch. The extent of his injury hasn't been released by the club yet, but we question whether he should have been on the pitch in the 88th minute with PSG in full command of the match.

Speaking of injuries, we also discuss Marco Verratti's injury history and whether PSG needs to sign a midfielder in January if they can't rely on their world-class maestro.

Next, we discuss Mauricio Pochettino and whether PSG will sack him for Zinedine Zidane. With so many superstar players in Paris, it would make sense to bring in a high-profile manager who has the resume to command the respect of the dressing room.

Finally, we wrap up the show by talking about the Champions League and who we want to see PSG play in the Round of 16.

As always, thank you for listening, and be sure to subscribe and rate the show wherever you download your podcasts. We’re also on Discord! Come join PSG fans from around the world and have your opinion heard.

More Mbappé Drama and What The Newcastle Takeover Means for PSG

We're in the thick of the international break and if you're like me, you're counting down the days until Paris Saint-Germain is back in action. Luckily, we have something to help you get through the next few days.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Guillaume Delaporte and Ty Taylor to discuss the fallout of Kylian Mbappé's interviews with RMC Sport and L'Equipe. There's also the interview Mbappé's mother gave to Le Parisien that seemed to contradict some of what the PSG star said.

Up first, we dive into the comments from Mbappé, which are nicely summarized by Sporting News. We learned that the player did ask to leave PSG and that the only club he has eyes for is Real Madrid. Guillaume and Ty give their thoughts on the situation and hypothesize how Mbappé's comments might have been received by Nasser Al-Khelaifi, PSG's president, and Leonardo, PSG's sporting director.

The Mbappé contract saga has been lingering for at least a year, if not longer, and his comments cleared up a lot of confusion supporters have regarding timing and what has really been offered to him. He also confirmed he said some not-so-nice things about Neymar Jr., which we also discuss. Looking ahead though, the footballing world is still unsure of what Mbappé will do, and his mother only complicated things late last week.

In an interview with Le Parisien, Fayza Lamari told the publication (via ESPN) that "we are talking right now with PSG and all is well. I spoke last night with Leonardo. Will we reach a solution? One thing is clear. [Mbappé] is going to give everything until the end to win the UEFA Champions League."

As we discuss on the show, Mbappé's decision will likely come down to PSG's performance this season and also Real Madrid's. If the France international clicks with Neymar and Lionel Messi and PSG win the Champions League, he may extend for another two years. If the super team implodes and Real Madrid looks like the better project, Mbappé will likely bolt on a free transfer next summer.

We conclude the Mbappé segment by putting a percentage on whether he will sign an extension with PSG and whether the supporters will boo him at the Parc des Princes.

Getting away from the Mbappé drama for a second, there was some monumental news in the world of football. Newcastle United FC has new owners! Much like PSG with Qatar Sports Investments, Newcastle will be majority-owned by an investment fund (Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, or PIF). How will this change the landscape of football and should PSG be worried about competition from Newcastle in the transfer market?

Reaction to Mbappé Bombshell Interview

If you thought things were bad at Paris Saint-Germain following the loss to Stade Rennais last weekend, well, Kylian Mbappé dropped a bomb on his way out the door for international duty.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by James Teague to discuss Mbappé's interview with RMC Sport and L'Equipe in which he confirms he did ask to leave PSG and so much more.

Up first, James and I give our initial reaction to the interview and our take on the revelation that Mbappé asked to leave for Real Madrid at the end of July. Why did he wait until there was a month left in the transfer window and why did he choose now to do an interview? Should PSG have sold Mbappé last summer when there was no progress on his contract extension?

The conversation continues with us discussing whether Mbappé is using the media to change the narrative around his contract situation. Having already been jeered at the Parc des Princes this season by PSG fans, Mbappé appears desperate to come across as he tried everything to help his hometown club even as he lines up a move to Madrid.

Regarding the interview with L'Equipe, Mbappé continued to burn bridges at PSG. He admitted to calling Neymar Jr. a "tramp" for not passing him the ball. He also expressed concern over comments made by club president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who said that he wouldn't let Mbappé leave on a free transfer. Overall, he painted the picture that PSG is a prison and showed other potential transfer targets that if they sign a long-term contract with the capital club, they better be prepared to see out the entire deal.

In typical Mbappé fashion, he left the door open ever so slightly for potentially remaining at PSG—even though we all know that's a lie but again, Mbappé doesn't want to tarnish his image. "If I was told that [Lionel] Messi was going to play at PSG, I wouldn't have believed it," Mbappé told L'Equipe. "So you never know what's going to happen."

So, what does this all mean? We conclude the show by debating whether or not Mbappé could be sent to Real Madrid in January when the transfer window opens, or if PSG would send him to the reserves since he can't control his emotions when a teammate doesn't pass him the ball when he feels they should.

One thing we know for sure is, PSG didn't sanction these interviews. Mbappé went rogue and created drama at a time when it really isn't needed. Just last week, PSG defeated Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League, and instead of talking about that or what Mauricio Pochettino needs to do to maximize the squad's potential, we're talking about Mbappé drama.

Messi Masterclass Sinks Manchester City

When Manchester City manager, Pep Guardiola, admitted that he didn't know how he was going to stop Paris Saint-Germain's front three of Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, and Neymar Jr., many dismissed the comment, but as it turns out, he was right.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by James Ridge from the PSG Unrestricted podcast to discuss PSG's 2-0 win over Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League. If you're a PSG supporter, you know it's difficult to find insightful commentary, in English, about PSG, so make sure to give them a follow and subscribe to their podcast.

We begin this episode with James sharing his overall thoughts on the win that wasn't as convincing as the scoreline might indicate. PSG was put under pressure by City for most of the night, but as James states, it was a real statement of intent for what is to come throughout the rest of the season.

Next, we highlight the midfield trio of Idrissa Gueye, Ander Herrera, and Marco Verratti. They were instrumental in the performance and without their defensive determination, City could have gone on to win this match. Gueye stood out especially with a goal in the eighth minute, but later in the first half, he was on the receiving end of a reckless challenge from Kevin De Bruyne. The City star only received a yellow card for the tackle but we discuss whether he should have been sent off immediately.

Moving on from the midfield, we address the performance of PSG's three superstars: Mbappé, Messi, and Neymar. While Messi did score his first goal since arriving from FC Barcelona, the performance from MNM didn't live up to expectations. What changes does Mauricio Pochettino need to make to unlock their potential?

Later in the show, we praise PSG's defense, which stood strong against City's waves of attacks, and debate whether or not Gianluigi Donnarumma has won the starting goalkeeper role over Keylor Navas.

We wrap up the show by having a laugh at our La Liga friends who had a difficult week in the Champions League and I ask James about how he became a PSG fan and if he's seeing more PSG kits in England.

Real Madrid's Tired Tactics Fail in Pursuit of Mbappé

Paris Saint-Germain finally has its most complete squad of the Qatar Sports Investments era, but supporters will have to wait to see how all of the pieces come together because it's international break time! Luckily, we have just the thing to pass the time.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ty Taylor, Matt Gooding, and later in the show, Carl-Oscar Källström joins all the way from the Swedish wilderness. The panel of esteemed PSG experts shares their thoughts on the Kylian Mbappé transfer saga, the arrival of Nuno Mendes, missing out on Eduardo Camavinga, and potential formations Mauricio Pochettino could deploy this season.

Up first though, it's all about Mbappé for the first half of the show. With Real Madrid rumored to have offered €200 million for the 22-year-old who will be out of contract at the end of the season, we're left to wonder if this was all a waste of time and a PR exercise from Los Blancos. We also debate whether PSG can convince Mbappé to sign an extension or if they'll regret not accepting an offer for their most prized asset.

We also spend a few minutes discussing PSG's new left-back, Mendes, from Sporting CP. While we admittedly know very little about him as a player, the highlights on YouTube have us very excited. One player who didn't arrive in Paris was Eduardo Camavinga from Stade Rennais. The 18-year-old midfielder made the move to Real Madrid and we discuss why PSG didn't push harder for one of the most promising youngsters in world football.

We wrap up the show by discussing the optimal formation for PSG this season with everyone agreeing that three-at-the-back is the way to go. We also answer a few questions sent in via the PSG Talk Discord server, including why Real Madrid fans are so awful.

Haaland Rumors and the Plan to Replace Mbappé

The eyes of the footballing world are upon Paris Saint-Germain. With time running out in the summer transfer window, what will they do with Kylian Mbappé?

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Carl-Oscar Källström and Mel Brennan to discuss Real Madrid's bid to sign Mbappé with a year left on his contract, how PSG should replace Mbappé, and the UEFA Champions League draw.

Up first, it's the topic everyone is talking about. According to reports, Madrid has offered PSG €180 million for Mbappé, which at the time of publication, has not been accepted and is unlikely to be enough to get the deal done.

We discuss Real Madrid's transfer tactics, the figure we believe PSG would accept, and our prediction on what the club will ultimately do with their prized asset.

Of course, if PSG sells Mbappé, it's a very real possibility that Les Parisiens could reinvest that money immediately and on Friday, one notable name emerged as a potential candidate. According to ESPN, Erling Haaland could be on the move to the French capital if Borussia Dortmund receives an offer of around €200 million...the same amount PSG is hoping to sell Mbappé for.

Another angle to the Mbappé saga is the fans, especially the most passional Ultras who make their voices heard at the Parc des Princes. They've already whistled at Mbappé once this season and we discuss what the atmosphere could be like if the 22-year-old remains in Paris for one more season.

We wrap up the show with some Champions League chatter. Once again, PSG finds themselves in the "Group of Death" with Manchester City, RB Leipzig, and Club Brugge. Does the schedule play in PSG's favor and which big clubs could fail to reach the knockout stage?

Mbappé Wants Madrid to Escape Messi and Neymar Shadow

After the fanfare of Lionel Messi arriving at Paris Saint-Germain, the club must now re-focus and decide what it wants to do with Kylian Mbappé and how to fix a very leaky defense.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Raphael Chader from the Passion Saint-Germain podcast to discuss PSG's 4-2 win over Stade Brestois 29, the Mbappé contract saga, Lionel Messi's upcoming debut, and what to expect as the summer transfer window comes to a close.

We begin with the win over Brest in which PSG scored four very different goals, each one more spectacular than the next. However, Brest did score two and made the game much closer than the final scoreline shows. How can PSG fix the defense and does it all start with signing a new left-back and replacing Keylor Navas in the starting lineup?

Next, we discuss Mbappé who scored a header against Brest but has not signed a contract extension with PSG. All signs point to him either leaving in a spectacular transfer in the next week or on a free transfer next summer. Is he handling the situation poorly from a communication point of view and are we seeing a different side of the 22-year-old in that he wants to be the sole star of a big club instead of playing alongside Neymar Jr. and Messi?

We also talk about the competitiveness of Ligue 1, what that city of Paris has been like since Messi's arrival, and what additional moves the club might make before the end of the transfer window.

The Mbappé Roundtable Discussion

Here at PSG Talk, we try to keep up with the latest social media trends, but when Twitter Spaces was announced, we were skeptical, to say the least. Who would have thought the Clubhouse rip-off would result in some amazing podcast content?

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Paris Saint-Germain supporters on Twitter who decided to come into a "Space" I hosted to discuss Kylian Mbappé's contract situation. I wanted to know what other fans thought about the possibility of the 22-year-old superstar leaving the French capital for Real Madrid and how PSG could recover if he did.

The conversation features mostly PSG fans, however, one Real Madrid supporter did join the broadcast to explain the point of view from the other side and why Mbappé may want to leave PSG despite playing alongside Neymar Jr. and Lionel Messi.

Keep in mind that because Twitter only allows you to download the audio of the Spaces broadcast, I have no visual representation of who is talking (Ty from PSG Talk did join the show). If you recognize your voice on the show, give me a shout on Twitter and I'll link to your Twitter profile. Also, Spaces is for mobile devices only, so the audio isn't up to the quality you usually get on this podcast but it's certainly good enough.

The Hypocrisy of How the Media Covers PSG

For Paris Saint-Germain supporters, it doesn't get much better than last week, but you wouldn't know that if you consume mainstream football media.

On the latest episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Mikko Kapanen of PSG Fan Club Helsinki to discuss the media's coverage of Paris Saint-Germain, especially since the arrival of Lionel Messi. I also get Kapenen's thoughts on PSG's 4-2 victory over RC Strasbourg Alsace and the presentation of PSG's five summer transfers.

Up first, we break down PSG's latest match against Strasbourg at the Parc des Princes. Mauricio Pochettino's squad went up 3-0 in under 30 minutes, but the visitors scored two quick goals to open the second half. Is this a case of PSG's top players being unavailable, or, does the manager need to change formation to ensure the defense doesn't leak goals?

One of the main talking points in the match against Strasbourg was when some PSG supporters whistled and jeered Kylian Mbappé when his name was announced as a starter. Obviously, his contract situation isn't endearing him to the fans, especially the Ultras, but with a goal and an assist, he did silence his critics for the time being.

Before kickoff, PSG introduced Georginio Wijnaldum, Sergio Ramos, Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, and Lionel Messi to the fans. Kapanen and I share our thoughts on the reception they received and the live broadcast of the event.

In the second part of the podcast, we examine the media's coverage of PSG. Why is it that every flaw of PSG is highlighted while the issues of other clubs are ignored? The traditional landscape of football is changing and in many ways, PSG is the catalyst for that, much to the chagrin of journalists who long for the days of how things used to be. Can PSG silence its critics in the media with a UEFA Champions League victory, or, will they always apply an asterisk to any accomplishment by a team led by Neymar Jr., Mbappé, and Messi?

Messi's Arrival is Monumental For PSG and French Football

Someone pinch me. If you go to Paris Saint-Germain's website right now and you go to the first-team squad page, there's a photo of Lionel Messi. Surreal.

On the latest episode of PSG Talking, it's all about Messi-to-PSG, and to help break down the historic transfer, I'm joined by Paris-based journalist, Jonathan Johnson, who covers Paris Saint-Germain and all things football for CBS Sports. You can also hear him on the ¡Qué Golazo! podcast.

I open the show by asking JJ for his thoughts on a player of Messi's caliber coming to the club he has supported since before the Qatari era. He explains how this is a deal that PSG's hierarchy has dreamed about since the beginning but was always difficult to imagine them ever pulling it off.

Next, Johnson discusses the financial aspect of bringing Messi to the French capital. Were there other clubs that could have realistically signed the former FC Barcelona captain and did Messi only choose PSG because they could meet his wage demands?

Of course, anywhere Messi goes he attracts an audience. Now that he's in Ligue 1, I ask Johnson about how the French league can capitalize on its newfound global fame. Could there be a new TV deal in the works to bring Ligue 1 to countries that may not have access currently?

Later in the show, Johnson discusses which PSG player will benefit the most from Messi's arrival and which formation Mauricio Pochettino should deploy this season.

The interview concludes with a conversation about when fans might see Messi on the pitch in a competitive match and whether or not PSG will make any additional signings before the close of the summer transfer window.

Messi on the Verge of Joining the Dark Side at PSG

Paris Saint-Germain is once again the center of the footballing world and it has nothing to do with their victory on Saturday to open the Ligue 1 campaign.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Guillaume Delaporte and Matt Gooding to discuss the reports that Lionel Messi will be announced as a PSG player this week. We also spend a few minutes on that 2-1 win over ES Troyes AC and answer a few questions from listeners.

Of course, the show starts with Messi. Guillaume has been following PSG since well before the Qatar Sports Investments takeover and I ask him what it's like to see his club sign a player of Messi's quality. Matt shares the reaction from the English press and we discuss whether Messi will be seen as a villain now that he's joined the club that most in the media despise.

Next, we break down the financials of the Messi deal. Why couldn't FC Barcelona keep Messi and how did PSG figure out a way to make the numbers work while also having Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappé on the roster?

Our Messi chat wraps up with a debate about whether PSG is now the favorites to win the UEFA Champions League or if a club like Chelsea FC stands in their way with a more well-rounded squad.

The second half of the show focuses on the match against Troyes. We drool over the potential of the team with Achraf Hakimi in the right-back position and applaud Ander Herrera's passing ability. Mauro Icardi surprised many with his performance and Keylor Navas saved the day with a flurry of late-game saves.

However, the match against Troyes did expose some defensive issues and we wonder why Mauricio Pochettino played Mbappé 90 minutes after only just returning to training days prior.

The show concludes with us answer questions sent in via Twitter, including Pochettino's playing style, Ligue 1 media rights, and how to make the French league stronger now that more eyes will be watching with Messi's impending arrival.

What Messi Leaving Barcelona Means for Paris Saint-Germain

Sometimes, there's breaking news that's so good that you have to drop everything and record an emergency podcast. This is one of those days.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Mel Brennan, Marc Damon, and James Teague, to discuss Lionel Messi officially leaving FC Barcelona. The shocking news was announced on Thursday and speculation immediately went to what it means for Paris Saint-Germain.

We open the show with everyone on the panel sharing their initial reaction to Messi being available in the transfer market only days before the start of several leagues around Europe, including Ligue 1. After announcing a five-year contract with Messi last July, why was Barcelona forced to cut ties with him now?

Next, we discuss whether PSG is a viable option for Messi and how he would fit into the squad as currently constructed? With Manchester City signing Jack Grealish for a record fee, are they now out of the running to sign Messi?

Assuming Messi does come to PSG, we debate the impact his arrival would have on Kylian Mbappé who is in the last year of his contract. Will the 22-year-old be happy being surrounded by so many veteran stars, or, would he prefer to leave next summer for Real Madrid where he would undoubtedly be the face of an entire league and country.

The show also includes a conversation about ESPN, who recently purchased the U.S. broadcasting rights from beIN Sports, what PSG's starting lineup could look like with Messi, and whether Mauricio Pochettino is the right manager for a team of superstars.

The Great Navas vs. Donnarumma Debate

Nothing signals the start of a new season of Paris Saint-Germain football quite like supporters already calling for the manager to be sacked and a change at goalkeeper, yet, here we are.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by long-time contributor, Guillaume Delaporte, and the two of us had a chat on Sunday after the final whistle of PSG's 1-0 loss to Lille OSC in the Trophée des Champions.

We begin the show by talking about that defeat to Lille who continues to have PSG's number after beating them to the Ligue 1 title last season. While PSG's squad was missing several regular starters, there were a few who put in a good shift, including newcomers Achraf Hakimi and Georginio Wijnaldum.

Next, Guillaume and I debate whether PSG should start Keylor Navas in the most important matches this season, or make the switch to Gianluigi Donnarumma. Navas is a fan favorite and a leader in the dressing room. His accolades speak for themselves but he does turn 35 in December and you have to ask if his best days are behind him. Meanwhile, the 22-year-old Donnarumma is coming off a Player of the Tournament performance with Italy in the 2020 UEFA European Championship. It's very possible PSG has the best goalkeeper in the world in Donnarumma and will let him watch from the bench the majority of the season.

Following our Lille talk, we switch gears to break down the situation regarding Kylian Mbappé. Guillaume and I both feel he will move to Real Madrid at some point, either this summer or next, but the lack of communication from Mbappé's camp is deafening. Could signing Paul Pogba be the move to convince PSG's superstar to stick around for a few more seasons?

Other topics we cover include whether or not Mauricio Pochettino can get the team performing at an elite level, especially offensively, Mauro Icardi's ability to disappear in matches, and we have a little fun discussing which European league PSG should join if they ever left Ligue 1.

As always, thank you for listening, and be sure to subscribe and rate the show wherever you download your podcasts.

Paris Saint-Germain Close to Building a Perfect Squad

When it comes to the summer transfer window, no team treats its fans better than Paris Saint-Germain.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Guillaume Delaporte and James Teague to discuss all of the latest additions to the PSG squad and whether the new faces are enough to convince Kylian Mbappé to sign an extension.

Up first, we break down arguably the signing of the transfer window, Achraf Hakimi from Inter Milan. The highly-rated right-back is exactly the type of player PSG desperately needed and at a reasonable transfer fee, too. With Hakimi solidifying the right-back position, does PSG have a defensive back four capable of winning the UEFA Champions League?

PSG continued to address its defense by adding Sergio Ramos on a free transfer from Real Madrid. Despite being 35-years-old, Ramos is regarded as one of the toughest and most talented center-backs in the game today. We debate whether he could replace Presnel Kimpembe in the starting lineup, especially for big Champions League matches.

Gianluigi Donnarumma isn't officially a PSG player but it's expected to be announced soon. Should Mauricio Pochettino replace Keylor Navas in goal if it's clear that the Italy international is the better player?

We conclude the podcast by discussing additional holes in the squad, including the need to add a talented midfielder like Paul Pogba. We also discuss whether PSG are now the favorites to win the Champions League and how long Pochettino will last in Paris if he struggles to get off to a fast start.

Fabrizio Romano on How PSG Snatched Wijnaldum From Barcelona

All episodes of PSG Talking are special, but this one even more so as we're joined by the most influential journalist when it comes to football transfers.

On today's show, I'm pleased to hand over the hosting duties to PSG Talk writer, Eduardo Razo, and he is joined by Fabrizio Romano to discuss all of the latest transfer news surrounding Paris Saint-Germain.

We begin the show by discussing the breaking news of PSG signing Georginio Wijnaldum after it appeared the former Liverpool FC midfielder was heading to FC Barcelona. How did PSG convince him to come to the French capital? Hint: It wasn't all about money.

Next, Razo asks about the reports linking Gianluigi Donnarumma with a move to PSG. How did one of the best young goalkeepers in the world end up as a free agent and why does he want to come to PSG?

One signing many PSG supporters are eager for is Achraf Hakimi at Inter Milan. However, as Romano explains, the Italian club will only sell for an impressive price as he was one of the best right-backs in Serie A last season.

The show concludes with a conversation about Mauro Icardi potentially leaving PSG this summer, whether Cristiano Ronaldo will end his career at PSG, and the latest on Kylian Mbappé's contract situation with Romano reporting that Liverpool FC is out of the race to sign the Frenchman.

Pochettino Caught Talking to His Ex; Transfer Rumors

The season has only just concluded and already, Paris Saint-Germain is making headlines. It's going to be a long summer...

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Cose Espinosa and Carl-Oscar Källström to discuss PSG's managerial situation and the latest transfer rumors.

Up first, we break down the situation regarding Mauricio Pochettino where a shocking report revealed that Tottenham Hotspur had reached out to him regarding a potential return to the North London club.

We debate the validity of the report and whether PSG fans should be upset that their recently-appointed manager had contact with his former team. I also ask the panel about Zinedine Zidane stepping down at Real Madrid and whether that could be influencing Pochettino's desire to look for an exit in case PSG makes a move for the French football legend.

The first part of the podcast concludes with us applauding Thomas Tuchel and Thiago Silva on winning the UEFA Champions League with Chelsea FC and questioning whether PSG made the right decision to move on from both.

On the second half of the podcast, we discuss the most credible transfer rumors, including Achraf Hakimi and Theo Hernandez potentially coming in to bolster PSG's full-back positions. We also debate whether PSG needs to sign Gianluigi Donnarumma and if FC Barcelona's recent signings will convince Lionel Messi to stay or look for a move to the French capital.

The show concludes with us listing playing PSG should try and sell this summer and what the latest transfer rumors and managerial changes could mean for Kylian Mbappé signing an extension.

Second Place is the First Loser

Paris Saint-Germain's 2020-21 season came to an anti-climatic end with only one trophy to show for its efforts. Now that the dust has settled, it's time to figure out what went wrong and how to improve for next season.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Cosé Espinosa for a one-on-one chat about PSG's campaign in which they finished runners-up to Lille OSC in Ligue 1 and fell short once again of their UEFA Champions League dreams.

Up first, it's all about Ligue 1. We look back at the season and try to figure out where things went wrong and whether the managerial change had anything to do with the inconsistent play we saw from the squad this season.

With Lille winning the title, many expect the club to sell its best players. We discuss whether that's the best strategy or would Lille and French football be better served if they kept their squad together and attempted to make a run at the knockout stage of the Champions League.

Looking ahead to next season, we assess how long Mauricio Pochettino will have next season to turn things around and debate whether PSG would sack him right now if Zinedine Zidane became available.

Towards the end of the show, we highlight a few transfer targets we would like to see arrive in the summer, including Eduardo Camavinga from Stade Rennais. We also give an update on Kylian Mbappé's contract situation, name our PSG MVP, and I continue my campaign to try and get Twitch to buy the United States television rights to Ligue 1 from beIN Sports.

Searching for Answers After Manchester City Dismantling

Paris Saint-Germain was unsuccessful in keeping a club that didn't even want to be in the UEFA Champions League from reaching the final and they only have themselves to blame.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Cose Espinosa and Carl-Oscar Källström to discuss PSG's 2-0 defeat (4-1 on aggregate) to Manchester City in the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League.

After an impressive run in the tournament, defeating FC Barcelona and FC Bayern Munich in the knockout stage, PSG's fizzled out like a defective firecracker against the Premier League leaders. We discuss what happened and perhaps more importantly, who is to blame.

In the second leg at the Etihad Stadium, Mauro Icardi was called upon to start alongside Neymar Jr. and Angel Di Maria, but the former Inter Milan striker struggled mightily and was subbed off shortly after half-time in favor of Moise Kean. Is Icardi such a poor fit that he should be sold this summer or can PSG build around him?

Kylian Mbappé was left on the bench and didn't play a second in the second leg. Should Mauricio Pochettino have started him to try and get an early goal or was he right to rest his injured superstar?

We also discuss Di Maria's sending off in the 69th minute and the resulting comments from CBS commentator Jim Beglin who used the phrase "Latino temperament" to describe the Argentina international's questionable decision-making.

PSG Gift Manchester City Advantage in Champions League Semi-Final

Paris Saint-Germain picked the worst time of the season to revert back to their old ways and now, they have an uphill battle in their quest for UEFA Champions League glory.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I’m joined by Matt Gooding and Guillaume Delaporte to break down PSG’s 2-1 loss to Manchester City in the semi-final of the Champions League.

The match was a tale of two halves, but we try to start with the positives. In the first 45 minutes, PSG was able to score a goal through a Marquinhos header and Angel Di Maria skipped around defenders with ease. Truth be told, PSG should have probably scored two goals as Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappé both had excellent opportunities, but they were chances that would go unfulfilled.

It doesn’t take us long to get to the negatives of this match for PSG. In the entire second half, PSG struggled to move the ball out of their own end and City’s pressing created chance after chance.

Even with PSG causing their own problems, City still couldn’t score. It took an uncharacteristic mistake from Keylor Navas on a Kevin De Bruyne cross and one of the worst walls of all time on a Riyad Mahrez free-kick to push City into the lead. Was it Pep Guardiola’s tactics or was this simply a case of PSG giving the game away?

We also talk about Idrissa Gueye’s ridiculous challenge that led to a red card, that mistake from Navas that led to City’s first goal, whether Neymar should have been awarded a penalty in the first half, and look ahead to the return leg at the Etihad Stadium.

Super League is the Worst Good Idea in Sports History

This week might have been the most chaotic since news broke in 2017 that Neymar Jr. was leaving FC Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Matt Gooding and Marc Damon to discuss the rise and fall of the European Super League and look ahead to PSG's upcoming UEFA Champions League tie against Manchester City.

We begin the show with the Super League and the owners of the 12 clubs who decided to break off and start their own European competition before realizing fans would be upset and backed out. With many of the teams in dire financial situations, should fans feel some level of sympathy or does it simply come down to poor money management?

With the Super League's website still live as of the publication of this podcast, we wonder whether or not the league is truly dead or if it will be revived at some point. Can an American-style competition ever truly work in European football?

Next, we look ahead to the match against Manchester City at the Parc des Princes and give our prediction. What starting lineup will Mauricio Pochettino go with and will he surprise fans by starting the very much in-form Mauro Icardi? I also share my conspiracy theory that UEFA will go out of their way to help PSG win the Champions League as they're the only team left that didn't decide to blow up the entire tournament.

How Paris Saint-Germain Cracked the Bayern Munich Code

Paris Saint-Germain lost the battle against FC Bayern Munich, but they won the war and will advance to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by James Teague, JC, and Carl-Oscar Källström (albeit a little late), to break down PSG's 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich at the Parc des Princes that was ultimately just enough to see Les Parisiens through to the next round via the away goal rule.

Up first, I ask the panel if the best team advanced. So much was made of Bayern's performance in the first leg and how statistically, they outplayed PSG, but at the end of the day, it was Mauricio Pochettino's squad that scored the goals needed while the Germans wasted chance after chance.

The opening 45 minutes for PSG was especially thrilling. Neymar Jr. was sensational and reminded everyone why he's considered one of the best. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to find the back of the net and instead hit the post and crossbar while attempting to score. Kylian Mbappé was at his best as well, but he was called offside numerous times as he attempted to exploit Bayern's high defensive line once again. I ask the panel what they thought of PSG's superstars and whether this was their best performance for PSG to date.

While Neymar and Mbappé get all of the headlines, we give some love to PSG's defensive unit who held on in the waning minutes under intense pressure from Bayern. Idrissa Gueye, Presnel Kimpembe, Colin Dagba, Danilo Pereira, and Keylor Navas were outstanding on the night and I ask the guys just how they managed to only allow one goal.

Next, we discuss Pochettino and what he did tactically to frustrate Bayern Munich. Was his decision to not play Marco Verratti and Alessandro Florenzi the right one? I also ask the guys whether or not they believe if former manager, Thomas Tuchel, would have been able to advance past Bayern.

After the match, many pundits had to give PSG credit for their accomplishments this Champions League season, but one, in particular, felt like he needed to take a shot at the club, its best players, and the French league. Jamie Carragher, who is a former Liverpool FC player and current pundit for CBS Sports, tried to make the point that Neymar and Mbappé have no business playing for PSG because of the perceived weakness of Ligue 1. His argument, as I understand it, is that those players are only in Paris for the money and he even goes as far as to say PSG is not a big club. You can watch a clip of the comments below and you know we go in on Mr. Carragher for his foolish comments.

To wrap up the show, we look ahead to the semi-final tie against Manchester City and discuss which players in their squad PSG may have trouble with over two games.

Bayern Munich Was Arrogant Against Paris Saint-Germain

It's been an up-and-down season for Paris Saint-Germain but when the bright lights of the UEFA Champions League are on, they've delivered more often than not.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Guillaume Delaporte and Carl-Oscar Källström to break down PSG's surprising 3-2 victory over Bayern Munich in the quarter-final of the Champions League.

We begin the show with our overall thoughts on the result. Most PSG Talk contributors were cautiously optimistic about PSG's chances but scoring three away goals against arguably the best team in Europe was unexpected.

Statistically, Bayern dominated PSG everywhere except for goals scored, and the reason why could be blamed on their arrogance in thinking they could get away with a high defensive line like they did in last season's Champions League final. This time, Kylian Mbappé was able to exploit the high line to the tune of two goals. Will Hans-Dieter Flick set up his team the same way in the return leg knowing he needs goals to advance to the next round or can PSG expect a tactical change?

After the match, much of the conversation centered around who wasn't on the pitch for Bayern. Robert Lewandowski was out injured and many speculated that if he were fit, he would have finished several of Bayern's scoring opportunities. However, PSG was without Marco Verratti, Leandro Paredes, and was down to their third-string full-backs. Should Mauricio Pochettino and PSG get more credit for this result considering who they were without?

Towards the end of the show, we switch gears slightly and discuss a recent New York Times article in which the author writes about the plethora of talent in the Paris region and PSG's inability to bring those players through their academy and into the starting lineup. Could PSG's new training facility make the difference and help the club keep the best players in the French capital?

We close the show by discussing other results around the Champions League including whether Borussia Dortmund can pull off the upset over Manchester City.

We're Feeling Something, Not Sure What It Is

The international break is underway but there is still plenty to discuss when it comes to Paris Saint-Germain.

On the latest PSG Talking, I'm joined by Matt, Cose, and Guillaume to evaluate the state of the club at a pivotal point in the season.

We begin the show with a recap of PSG's 4-2 win over Olympique Lyonnais that saw Les Parisiens move to the top of the Ligue 1 table. Has PSG become a team that performs at its best when the pressure is at its highest? Also, we analyze what Mauricio Pochettino has done tactically to get the most out of Kylian Mbappé.

Next, the panel shares their thoughts on the UEFA Champions League quarter-final draw against FC Bayern Munich. Have the Germans gotten worse since last year's final? Is being the underdog actually a good thing for PSG?

We conclude the show by discussing Neymar Jr.'s impending contract situation and whether the club should put provisions in place to protect themselves given his injury history. We also answer a few questions sent in by listeners.

Navas Denies Barcelona Remontada Sequel

Whew! It was downright painful to watch but Paris Saint-Germain are through to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League after a 1-1 draw against FC Barcelona (5-2 on aggregate).

On the latest episode of PSG Talking, I'm thrilled to be joined by James and Carl-Oscar, two contributors we haven't had on the show in a while but are passionate PSG supporters who know their stuff.

We begin with our overall thoughts on a match that most supporters would call disappointing. Sure, PSG drew and advanced to the next round over their European rivals, but Barcelona's dominating performance definitely puts manager, Mauricio Pochettino, under the microscope (especially after the decision to start Julian Draxler).

Miraculously, PSG did score first via a Kylian Mbappé penalty in the first half and we debate whether the penalty should have been given at all after incidental contact on Mauro Icardi.

Speaking of penalties, the match turned on its head right before halftime when Layvin Kurzawa conceded a penalty. Lionel Messi, coming off a rocket shot to tie the game, stepped up to take the penalty that was ultimately saved by Keylor Navas.

That effort alone would have made Navas the Man of the Match but the Costa Rica international made one spectacular save after another on the night and he showed why PSG moved on from players like Alphonse Areola and Kevin Trapp.

In the second half, Pochettino used all of his substitutions, including taking off the struggling Kurzawa for Abdou Diallo. We discuss the manager's decisions, Diallo's surprisingly excellent performance, and how Angel Di Maria helped PSG close out the game.

We wrap up the show by discussing the team's we hope PSG draws in the quarter-finals, whether Messi will come to PSG in the summer, and TV shows/movies we're watching at the moment. After that 90 minutes of hanging on for dear life, I think we all could benefit from watching something non-football.

Ligue 1 Title Race; Neymar's Return; Barcelona Preview

For Paris Saint-Germain supporters, March 10, will either bring closure to one of Europe's biggest football feuds or, re-open a gaping wound that the club may never recover from. No pressure!

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Matt, Guillaume, and Cose to discuss PSG's recent performances in Ligue 1, Neymar Jr.'s return from injury, the return leg against FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, and so much more.

Up first, it's all about the battle for Ligue 1. Currently, PSG sits two points behind Lille OSC in the table thanks to an inexplicable loss to AS Monaco following the 4-1 win over Barcelona in the first leg of their Champions League tie. PSG was able to rebound against Dijon FCO and Girondins de Bordeaux, but how confident should fans be that PSG can defend their title?

Next, we switch gears to talk Champions League and Neymar in particular. The PSG superstar is back in training but should the club risk further injury by rushing him? Considering Barcelona's recent comeback against Sevilla FC in the Copa del Rey, PSG could use all the firepower they can get to see out this tie and advance to the next round.

Our crew shares their predictions for the match as well as potential starting lineup options for Mauricio Pochettino to consider. We may get some insight into what the manager is thinking this Saturday when PSG takes on Stade Brestois 29 in the Coupe de France.

We wrap up the show with some light-hearted conversation about Juan Bernat's birthday cake, Everton FC supporters, and we share some of the TV shows and movies that are keeping us occupied between matches.

Paris Saint-Germain's 4-1 win over FC Barcelona in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League was predicted by very few but celebrated by every supporter around the globe.

On the latest PSG Talking podcast, I welcome Mel, Matt, Guillaume, and Ty to break down the game and pinpoint just how Mauricio Pochettino got it so right against PSG's hated European rivals.

We start by asking the panel to give their overall thoughts on the match. From Leandro Paredes' masterclass in midfield to Layvin Kurzawa surprisingly strong performance at left-back, we discuss the players who made it all happen for Paris.

One player who deserves a lot of credit for the result is Kylian Mbappé who scored a hat-trick on the night. After struggling to score in the Champions League under the previous manager, Thomas Tuchel, what did Pochettino do to unlock Mbappé?

Later in the show, I ask whether or not this result has killed Barcelona. Lionel Messi is out of contract at the end of the season and the reported financial issues at the club are dire. It could be a long time until we see this club seriously challenging for a Champions League title and PSG played a large part in that.

The show concludes with a discussion about whether Neymar Jr. should play in the return leg against Barcelona if he's not 100% healthy. If he does and scores a goal, should he celebrate?

It's that time of year again. The knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League begins on Tuesday, February 16, for Paris Saint-Germain and as luck would have it, they face their most hated European rival–FC Barcelona.

On this episode of PSG Talking, recording on Valentine's Day, I'm joined by fellow contributors Ty, James, and Guillaume, to preview the highly anticipated Round of 16 tie between PSG and Barcelona.

Up first, we check in with Ty who gives us a recap of Barcelona's season so far and explains how they're just hitting their stride at the right time. He also names a few players who could cause major issues for Presnel Kimpembe, Marquinhos, and the rest of PSG's defense.

Next, we discuss the impact of Neymar Jr.'s injury. Should Mauricio Pochettino have risked him mid-week against Ligue 2's Stade Malherbe Caen? How big of a blow is this to PSG as they prepare for Barcelona?

We also debate PSG's best formation and lineup for the clash against Barcelona? Should Moise Kean get the start? Is Layvin Kurzawa the best option at left-back? Should Marquinhos play defensive midfielder? Tactically, should PSG go down fighting or park the bus?

The show concludes with us finishing a simple sentence, "PSG will advance past Barcelona IF..."

Le Classique Win, Jordan Kit Review, and Neymar's Contract Extension

Before the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers battled for the NFL Championship, there was the real big game between Paris Saint-Germain and Olympique de Marseille.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Cosé, Guillaume, and Matt to discuss the 100th installment of Le Classique in which PSG won 2-0 thanks to goals from Kylian Mbappé and Mauro Icardi. Is the team evolving for the better under manager Mauricio Pochettino or is there still work to be done before the meeting against FC Barcelona in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League?

We also discuss the potential long-term absence of Angel Di Maria who was subbed off in the first half after assisting Mbappé's goal with what appeared to be a muscle injury. If the Argentine is unable to play against Barcelona, how big of a loss is that for PSG?

Next, we switch gears and discuss PSG's recently released Jordan Brand fourth kit. The bold kit gets its design from "the nebula in space, where stars are born and ties into the PSG philosophy of creating stars for the ages." We debate whether this kit is a hit or miss and what it's like seeing people wear the PSG badge as a fashion statement with likely zero knowledge of the club.

Later in the show, we discuss Neymar Jr.'s contract extension with PSG that isn't official but seems to be a forgone conclusion. What does it say that a player like Neymar wants to stay in the French capital? We debate that and the recent comments made by ESPN FC's Craig Burley who basically wants Neymar to take less money to play in a more "competitive league."

We conclude by making our picks for who we want to win the NFL championship game and have a quick chat about Ligue 1, which if you haven't seen the table lately, is very competitive.

Things are looking up for Paris Saint-Germain in 2021. We've already seen one trophy celebration and with a new manager at the helm, the squad appears to be playing more attractive and cohesive football. Is it all roses at the Parc des Princes or is there underlying causes for concern?

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by fellow contributors Cose, Guillaume, and Matt to discuss PSG's 2-1 win over Olympique de Marseille in the Trophée des Champions. What positives are we seeing from the squad under new manager, Mauricio Pochettino, and what still needs work? Do we know what his preferred starting lineup will be moving forward?

Neymar made a brief appearance in that match against Marseille and in 25 minutes, he was the most fouled player on the pitch. With his feud against Álvaro González spilling over to Twitter, should the league step in to stop it or will it only add fuel to the fire of this rivalry?

Later in the show, we do our best to explain the situation regarding Mediapro, television rights, and Ligue 1. What are the very real consequences facing the French league with a serious lack of cash funneling into clubs? What role should PSG play in helping prop up the league?

We also give new meaning to PSG's slogan of "Dream Bigger" and debate whether or not Pochettino should play Neymar against Marseille on February 7, just one week prior to the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match against FC Barcelona. You can have your say via the Twitter poll below.

Who Will Pochettino Bring With Him to Paris?

As the calendar turns to 2021, Paris Saint-Germain are on the verge of a new era with the official departure of Thomas Tuchel and the expected arrival of a highly anticipated manager.

On this episode of PSG Talking, which was recorded on January 1, I'm joined by long-time contributors Guillaume and Matt to discuss the managerial situation at PSG. Should fans be optimistic about Mauricio Pochettino returning to the club he once captained as a player or was sacking Tuchel premature? Is Pochettino that much better than Tuchel tactically?

With Pochettino's ties to Tottenham Hotspur and the Premier League, we discuss the latest transfer rumors, which include PSG linked to Serge Aurier, Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli, and Wilfried Zaha.

We switch topics later in the show to discuss the latest with Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappé when it comes to their contract situation. With reports that no club can afford the Frenchman, will he sign an extension or will PSG be forced to sell for below what he's worth to avoid losing him on a free transfer?

The show concludes with us sharing our 2021 resolutions for PSG.

Special Holiday Edition

Talk about bad timing...

On Wednesday, December 23, I recorded a PSG Talking podcast with Guillaume and James and then a 1970 podcast with Marc during Paris Saint-Germain's 4-0 win over RC Strasbourg. We talked about Thomas Tuchel quite a bit but little did we know that he would be sacked the following day.

For easy listening, I've combined the two podcasts into one and you get to hear us analyze the job that Tuchel has done at PSG and which PSG Talk contributors wanted him gone and others who may be disappointed to see him leave the French capital.

We also discuss PSG's poor results against Lille OSC and Olympique Lyonnais, two clubs who are currently ahead of Les Parisiens in the Ligue 1 table. Contributing to those disappointing performances are injuries. From Presnel Kimpembe to Neymar Jr., many of PSG's top players are out of action and for some, it's a race against time to get them fit ahead of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie against FC Barcelona.

It wouldn't be a holiday episode without asking the guys what gift they would give PSG this year and who deserves a lump of coal (don't worry, Leonardo, I've made sure you won't receive any coal this year!).

Reaction to Champions League Round of 16 Draw

Paris Saint-Germain rallied in the final two match days to top their UEFA Champions League group and now we know their reward, a date with their arch-nemesis FC Barcelona in the Round of 16.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Ty and James and we share our reaction to the Champions League draw that pits PSG and Barcelona against each other in the competition for the first time since 2017. Which team should be considered the favorite?

The first match between the two sides is slated for February 16, so there's plenty that can change for both teams between now and then, but one major talking point is the health of Neymar Jr. The former Barcelona man went down with an ankle injury against Olympique Lyonnais last weekend and while he should be back in time for the Round of 16, will he have enough preparation ahead of the tie?

The upcoming January transfer window will be an opportunity for PSG to strengthen, but what positions should the club look to upgrade? Who is available? Could PSG pull off a surprise transfer for Stade Rennais midfielder Eduardo Camavinga?

It's still a bit too early to make a prediction for the PSG match, but I ask the guys what other matchups in the Round of 16 they're excited to watch.

The Bread Burns at the Entrance of the Oven

After a rough start to the UEFA Champions League group stage, Paris Saint-Germain now controls their destiny but plenty of questions remain as the club prepares for the business end of the season.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by fellow contributors Matt, Guillaume, and Cose, to discuss the 3-1 win over Manchester United. Did PSG play well and deserve to win, or, did the Red Devils give the game away with poor substitutions and missed goal-scoring opportunities?

Next, we discuss the possibility of Lionel Messi making the move from FC Barcelona to PSG. With Neymar openly stating he wants to play with his friend and former teammate again, should the club explore ways to bring him to the French capital, including selling Kylian Mbappé?

The 21-year-old Mbappé has struggled as of late in the Champions League, leading many to speculate if now is the time to cash in on the Frenchman and bring in players to compliment Neymar and potentially Messi. We debate the right way forward for the club.

PSG's other celebrated winger, Angel Di Maria, is in the last year of his contract and while one of us wants him gone by the end of the week, others aren't so sure we can find a suitable replacement that works financially.

We wrap up the show by answering a few questions from listeners sent in via Twitter.

Leipzig Loss, Tuchel in Trouble, and Elevator Error Traps PSG Players

The meme machine has been putting in overtime with the amount of content Paris Saint-Germain has delivered the past couple of weeks.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Cose, Matt, and Guillaume to discuss the 2-1 loss to RB Leipzig and whether or not Thomas Tuchel deserves most of the blame for the lackluster performance.

The defeat means PSG could potentially fall to the UEFA Europa League if they don't win their remaining UEFA Champions League matches. Is now the time to bring in a new manager or should PSG let Tuchel finish out the season and replace him next summer? Who can fix PSG's "eye cancer" of a midfield? What are the ramifications in terms of Kylian Mbappé and Neymar Jr. who are considering signing an extension with PSG? Also, did you know Marco Verratti is 28-years-old!?

After a lengthy and very serious discussion about the issues at PSG this season, we close out the podcast with a somewhat comical story about several PSG players getting stuck in an elevator for 50 minutes before they were rescued. We go around the panel and decide which players we would like to be trapped in an elevator wall. Don't forget to designate a pee corner!

Anyway...if PSG don't turn this thing around quickly I'm turning this into a Cambridge United FC blog. Get it together, guys...

Latest Injury News; Feud Brewing Between PSG and Brazil Over Neymar

Paris Saint-Germain has won seven of their last eight matches but things in the French capital are far from ideal. Injuries are piling up almost daily and the manager is very much on the hot seat. This season was always going to be difficult due to the ongoing pandemic, but no one expected it to be this bad.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by French football journalist Jonathan Johnson who recently joined CBS Sports to cover the UEFA Champions League and contributes to the outstanding ¡Qué Golazo! podcast where PSG is a frequent topic.

The episode begins with a discussion about Johnson's recent article on injuries at PSG, the most devastating being Neymar Jr.'s muscle injury suffered against Istanbul Başakşehir. The injury will keep the PSG superstar out for the next three games and if it were up to Thomas Tuchel, he wouldn't play for Brazil during the upcoming international break either. There is already bad blood between PSG/Tuchel and Brazil from previous injuries Neymar has sustained and it will be interesting to see how this situation plays out.

Up next, we discuss Tuchel's situation and whether or not he will make it through an entire season without being sacked. The offense has sputtered and while there have been quite a few injuries, there appears to be a malaise over the squad and he hasn't proven to be able to light a spark that is so desperately needed. Could Thiago Motta return to the Parc des Princes and solve PSG's issues?

I also asked Johnson for his ideal starting lineup if injuries weren't an issue. Does he go with Marquinhos in midfield or center-back? Kean or Icardi? Speaking of Kean, Johnson offers some clarity to his loan deal from Everton FC.

We conclude the show with a discussion about Kylian Mbappé and Neymar and whether or not they will extend their contracts with PSG and the outside factors that could determine their futures.

Manchester United Recap, Kean Breakout, Champions League Outlook

With a host of injuries and turmoil between the manager and sporting director, Paris Saint-Germain faces perhaps its most pivotal stretch of games of the season so far.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by James, Cose, and Guillaume to discuss PSG's two most recent results and we also look ahead to PSG's upcoming UEFA Champions League match against Istanbul Başakşehir.

The show begins with a conversation about PSG's frustrating 2-1 loss to Manchester United in the first match of the Champions League group stage. The squad looked tired and devoid of ideas offensively even with Kylian Mbappé and Neymar Jr. on the pitch together. We discuss whether the blame rests on Thomas Tuchel's shoulders and whether his days could be numbered as manager.

PSG rebounded from that defeat to United with a 4-0 win over Dijon FCO—the last place team in Ligue 1. Tuchel was forced to rotate his squad due to injuries, which included starting Moise Kean who scored his first two goals in a PSG kit. The 20-year-old has loads of potential and this performance could lead to him taking minutes away from some of the usual starters.

We then discuss Wednesday match against Istanbul Başakşehir where anything other than a win could lead to Tuchel getting sacked and the very real possibility that PSG may not qualify for the knockout stage of the Champions League. We go around the panel and get score predictions for this highly-anticipated match.

The show concludes with a discussion about a surprising statistic. According to journalist Robin Bairner, since the start of the Qatar Sports Investments era (2011-current), PSG has conceded 18 penalties in the Champions League and only been awarded 7. Is this a case of bad defending or is there a conspiracy against the French giants?

We Have 9 Midfielders and None of Them Suck

With so much attention being paid to Paris Saint-Germain's transfer signings, it's easy to forget that on the pitch, the reigning French champions have looked awfully impressive with four consecutive victories.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I hand off hosting duties to Guillaume and he's joined by fellow long-time contributors Matt and Cose. They're essentially the Thiago Motta, Marco Verratti, and Blaise Matuidi of the podcast crew.

The show begins with a discussion of the 3-0 win over OGC Nice at the Allianz Riviera. PSG dismissed Patrick Vieira's side with relative ease in what was the first time we really saw Les Parisiens play close to their potential.

The conversation transitions to PSG's 2-0 win over Stade de Reims at the Parc des Princes, with a brace from Mauro Icardi, and the 6-1 win over Angers SCO, which included Alessandro Florenzi's first goal as a PSG player since arriving on loan from AS Roma.

Up next, the crew discusses PSG's transfer business. There are several new faces in the French capital and some old ones still remain (Julian Draxler and Jesé to name a couple). What can supporters expect from Danilo Pereira, Rafinha, and Moise Kean? Will they be major contributors or fringe players? Regardless, it will be up to manager Thomas Tuchel to rotate his starting lineup to keep all of the players happy now that he has quality depth at nearly every position.

Champions League Hangover or Serious Issues at PSG?

When Paris Saint-Germain supporters look at the Ligue 1 table, they find their team in the basement of Ligue 1 in 15th place. It's hardly what was expected following the club's first appearance in the UEFA Champions League final just a few weeks ago.

On this episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by fellow contributors James and Matt to discuss PSG's disappointing start to the 2020-21 Ligue 1 season and what needs to change for the club to return to their dominating ways.

The second match of the new season saw PSG welcome Olympique de Marseille in what was supposed to be a football match but instead turned into more of a rugby match with a dash of UFC thrown in at the end.

Not only were several PSG players sent off, but Neymar Jr. claimed he was racially abused by a Marseille player. We discuss what should happen to Álvaro González even if it's not proven with a video that he did abuse Neymar.

New signing, Alessandro Florenzi, made his debut against OM and he was one of the rare bright spots in that match. We discuss his performance and whether or not PSG needs to sign a left-back with Juan Bernat going down with a serious knee injury.

Speaking of changes, one move some fans would like to see is a new coach. Thomas Tuchel did get PSG to the Champions League final but with one goal scored in the opening three matches, serious questions are being asked of the former Borussia Dortmund boss.

We end the show with our expectations of the new PSG documentary that was recently released in France via Amazon Prime Video.

Bayern Munich Smash PSG's Champions League Dream

A season unlike any other ended on Sunday with Paris Saint-Germain falling 1-0 to FC Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League final.

The loss was made worse as it was former PSG player, Kingsley Coman, who scored the only goal of the match to give the Germans their sixth Champions League title in club history.

On the latest PSG Talking podcast, which was recorded just minutes after the final whistle, I'm joined by fellow contributors Eddie, James, Mel, and Ty to discuss how PSG let this opportunity slip through their fingers.

We start the show with initial reactions to the defeat and an examination of manager Thomas Tuchel's tactics and whether he got the starting lineup correct. Was there anything he could have done to counterbalance Bayern's relentless pressing?

The panel also discusses the two penalty shouts that were not given by the referee. Was the right decision made in both instances or should Kylian Mbappé have been awarded a penalty in the second half?

Speaking of PSG's French superstar, we discuss his overall performance and why he and Neymar Jr. were ineffective against Bayern's high defensive line.

Looking ahead, we wonder whether major changes need to be made to the squad or if it only needs small improvements in key areas.

We wrap up the show by answering a few Twitter questions and share our parting shots on what has been a historical season despite ending in disappointment.

Against Bayern Munich, There Will Be Blood

After two anti-climatic semi-final matches in the UEFA Champions League, we finally have the heavyweight final everyone wants to see. It's Paris Saint-Germain versus FC Bayern Munich for all of the marbles.

On the latest episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by Guillaume and Matt to discuss PSG's win over RB Leipzig last Wednesday and we look ahead to the matchup against Bayern in the final on Sunday.

Up first, I ask the crew how they felt heading into the match against Leipzig and why that match was so easy for the Ligue 1 champions. Was it the return of Angel Di Maria that made the difference or was it the defense who continued their outstanding play in the tournament?

Speaking of the lineup, what changes should manager Thomas Tuchel make against Bayern Munich? We discuss potential lineup changes that could work against the German's style of play and why PSG has some extra motivation to defeat Bayern (hint: it has something to do with Juan Bernat and Tanguy Kouassi).

If there's a reason to worry, it's the lack of finishing from Neymar Jr. despite playing well overall. Surely his shot won't be off for a third match, right? Also, we all agree that Keylor Navas has to return as Sergio Rico looked shaky against Leipzig.

We wrap up the show by talking about the media's coverage of PSG's run to the final and answer your questions sent via Twitter.

Lady Luck is Finally on PSG's Side in the Champions League

The moment that Paris Saint-Germain supporters have been waiting for is finally here. The club is through to the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League for the first time since 1995 following a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over Atalanta.

On the latest episode of PSG Talking, I'm joined by James Teague and Eduardo Razo for a reactionary show recorded just a few hours after Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting's game-winning goal in stoppage time. And before you all send me hate mail about the audio quality, I am without my fancy mic as I'm in the middle of a move and my stuff is probably somewhere in the middle of Wyoming.

We start the show by talking about where we watched the match and how stressful the final minutes were. We talk about Thomas Tuchel's lineup and whether or not he got the tactics right. The story of the first 45 minutes was Neymar Jr., who was brilliant in every way possible except when it came to putting his shots on target.

Neymar's misses were highlighted on social media as PSG's detractors lined up and salivated at the prospect of the most hated footballer on the planet bowing out of the Champions League to a modest club like Atalanta. We discuss the media's coverage of PSG and whether or not they will ever embrace this team.

Once PSG went down a goal in the first half, some doubt started to creep in but once Kylian Mbappé entered the game in the 60th minute, things took a drastic change. We discuss his influence on the game despite playing with an injured ankle and the goal from Marquinhos that leveled the score at 1-1 at the 90-minute mark.

We wrap up the show by sharing our reaction to Choupo-Moting's incredible goal in stoppage time and the fact that he will now go down in PSG history for this goal and not that famous miss he had last season. We also pick our preferred opponent in the next round. Will it be RB Leipzig or Atlético Madrid. We'll find out on Thursday.

Everything is Clicking On and Off the Pitch

Paris Saint-Germain recently returned to the pitch after a four-month layoff due to the coronavirus so naturally, the PSG Talking podcast crew is back to recap the first two friendly matches and discuss the latest news involving the club.

Joining me on this episode, which was recorded on Friday, July 17, are fellow contributors Guillaume and Tyrone. We start the show by discussing the 7-0 win over Waasland-Beveren, which surprisingly included two incredible goals from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting. Other than the scoreline, we share the other positives supporters should take away from the game.

Then, we talk about last week's match against Le Havre on the road. The 9-0 win over the Ligue 2 side will do little to give the naysayers a reason to believe PSG can defeat Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League but similar to the match against Waasland-Beveren, the effort level was impressive the squad appears to be linking up well and creating plenty of goal-scoring opportunities.

Leaving the pitch for a moment, we break down the back-and-forth war of words between Thomas Meunier and PSG's sporting director, Leonardo, who was accused by the Belgian of giving false information to the media.

Our final topics include a discussion about Manchester City and why their Champions League ban was reversed. What does it mean for PSG in the seasons to come? We also check in on Atalanta and briefly break down their recent results.

The show wraps up with us answering a few questions sent in via Twitter.

Imagine Neymar Shredding Barcelona

We know, we know...there hasn't been a new episode of PSG Talking for a few weeks but I promise this episode more than makes up for our absence.

On this episode, I'm joined by Guillaume, James, and Matt to discuss the latest headlines and answer a few questions from listeners sent in via Twitter.

We begin the show by discussing the one confirmed friendly against Le Havre on July 12, and the two rumored exhibitions against Shamrock Rovers and Celtic FC. After Matt informs me that Ireland and Scotland are in fact two different countries, the panel shares what fans can expect from the squad after going more than three months without playing a match together.

Layvin Kurzawa and Edinson Cavani are the next two topics up for discussion. The Frenchman surprisingly signed a four-year contract while PSG's all-time leading scorer decided to focus on his next team and forgo an opportunity to win the UEFA Champions League. Will that decision affect Cavani's legacy with the club?

Speaking of the Champions League, the draw for the quarter-finals will take place on July 10, and the guys share who they hope to see in the next round of the competition. Personally, I hope to see PSG take on Barcelona to watch Neymar torch his former team and put them out of their misery.

We wrap up the show with a conversation about Neymar Jr. and the constant rumors about him going back to FC Barcelona, Tanguy Kouassi's decision to leave PSG for FC Bayern Munich, and several Twitter questions.

As always, thank you for listening, and be sure to subscribe and rate the show wherever you download your podcasts.
