The ARM IPO will be the biggest of the year and value the company over $55 billion. Nearly 100 million shares of ARM will be made available for about 9.4% of the company which means SoftBank will still control over 90% of the shares outstanding.
We're seeing huge buying by strategic investors. Chip users like Apple, Google and Meta along with competitors like Nvidia, TSMC and AMD are all buying up huge blocks of ARM shares to lock in their access to the company. Put all this together and it could create a massive supply-demand imbalance in the stock. Shares of Nvidia see, on average, over 50 million shares traded a day. If there are only 95 million shares of ARM available and likely more than half of those are in the hands of long-term investors and strategic partners...there will not be enough shares to meet demand and the price will have to go up. I normally do not invest in IPOs but ARM is different and I'm buying shares.
