To All the Men I've Tolerated Before
To All The Men I’ve Tolerated Before is your weekly look at everyday misogyny! Host Natalie Katona invites guests on the podcast to chat about their experiences living in a Patriarchal society. The podcast delves into different male tropes the world has had to endure like the sports guy, the toxic boss, or the needy boyfriend. It also allows the guests to delve into how men have affected their comfort levels in the communities they take up space in like the horror genre, professional wrestling, or the military. After the honest, comedic venting, the guest and Natalie will offer up their biggest growth moment from having to tolerate the events they’ve discussed and offer everyone up some great manifestations. Let’s work on a better, inclusive, and safer future for everyone with some radical honesty and less tolerating!

Love is Blind S6 (Part 2)
This is the conclusion of our Love is Blind Season 6 discussion that was started last week with Julia and Caitie.Make sure you have listened to last week’s episode covering cast members who didn’t find love, Amy/Johnny, Brittany/Kenneth, and Chelsea/Jimmy.

On this episode we will be covering the following couples:

Laura, Jeramey, and Sarah Ann: Who doesn’t love a good ol’ fashioned love triangle? This trio allowed us to talk about the ramifications of the oversexualization of black women with something called a “bean dip”. We also discussed how Sarah Ann and Jeramey tried to deliver us a masterclass in gaslighting and just fell short.

AD and Clay: We discuss how cheating isn’t hereditary and how therapy is important before you go on a dating show trying to find your one true love. AD deserved so much better and we will also pay our respects by crowning her the best part of the season.

Thanks for giving us the chance to chat about this crazy season! We will also close the episode with our normal life lessons and manifestations section.

Love is Blind S6 (Part 1)
The Love is Blind reunion has passed and the cast has started to take interviews to tell their side of the story. It is now our turn. We’re going to have a two-part giant episode on what I thought was Netflix’s clearest indicator that they have a lot of work when it comes to making sure their programming doesn’t perpetuate internalized misogyny.

On this episode we will be covering the following cast members:
The Pod Dwellers
Matthew- Was he a robot? Did he use ChatGPT to script his dates? What is his responsibility to udience members to make me believe he has the emotional investment needed for this kind of experiment?

Trevor: Trevor had us heartbroken and ready to root for him. Then, some texts surfaced that made us realize that we had fallen victim to another man’s lies and games.

Jessica: We will use Jessica’s story as an avenue to talk about the realities of single mothers who are trying to date and what their place is when it comes to reality tv.

The Couples
Amy and Johnny: They offer us a chance to talk about birth control and who is responsible for knowing the most about it in a partnership.

Brittany and Kenneth: They gave us a chance to dive into the challenges mixed couples can face early on in their relationship.

Chelsea and Jimmy: Insecurities are heightened at the start of a new relationship and we got the chance to talk about the aftermath of being faced with those insecurities. We also briefly touch on the criticism Chelsea faced after likening herself to Megan Fox.

We will be back next week with the Jeramey, Laura, and Sarah Ann love triangle and wrap up with AD and Clay!

The Royal Family
Sometimes, dreams really do come true and that’s what this episode is this week! Kristen Meinzer (The Daily Fail) joins us this week to talk about misogyny in the royal family. Natalie and Kristen will talk about the double standards Kristen has observed as a professional royal watcher. Whether it's pitting Kate against Megan, the press being more lenient on men, or the royal pressure of women to be perfect wives that produce perfect heirs; you can’t deny that misogyny has woven its way into royalty and has been there for generations.

I'm The Gaming Industry Expert Here!
Whitney is joining us to talk about a specific story about what it is like being a woman who works in the video game industry. She will walk us through a story where her expertise on the company she worked for and the games she helps market was argued against and she left the frustrating conversation unable to convince the man on the other side of the conversation she was right. There will also be conversation around how we help bring marginalized voices to the table, the vulnerability it takes to stick up for yourself and your talents, and the emotional/mental labor that is involved when we are constantly asked to model to men how to not be misogynist and how we expect respect when it comes to the things we know.

Dungeons and Dragons Lore
Natalie is joined by Shardae and Lyssa of The Slovenly Trulls podcast to talk about how the lore surrounding D&D also perpetuates misogyny within gaming. Shardae and Lyssa will bring their expertise on specific tropes written into the lore and playing guides published by Wizards of the Coast that serve as a reminder that the game has some inherent rules and story pieces that are rooted in misogyny, racism, and other oppressive systems. The three women will then celebrate some of the game masters and live play streams who are doing the work to rewrite the narrative that only white men know how to play D&D and enjoy it. Those examples include Dimension 20, Critical Role, DesiQuest, and specific people like Aabria Iyengar.

Incels
JD Ross (Weirdwide) did in-depth research for an episode on his podcast about incels and incel culture. After listening, Natalie knew this was a topic that needed to be covered because who is a better example of people living comfortably with misogyny than the incels of the internet? JD and Natalie will discuss how the term incel (involuntary celibate) was coined and how forums like Reddit allowed for men who have violent resentment towards women were able to form a community online. The entitlement that is featured in incel men will also be discussed as well as how their culture revolves around fantasies of violence against women, getting even, resenting that they’re undesirable, and sometimes carrying out their violent thoughts.Natalie will also express her fears on how misogynistic or incel mindsets are starting to become mainstream and JD will validate her fear by talking about the well-known men and leaders who help incels perpetuate their warped beliefs.

Nutrition Education Gaps
Natalie is joined by Jenn Trepeck from the podcast, Salad with a Side of Fries. Jenn will be filling in some of the education gaps we as a society have about nutrition and how it relates to the lack of education we have about our mental and emotional wellness. Both women will give some insight to their relationship with food and the emotions that go along with planning on what to eat. There will also be information on how the quality of the food we were offered is based more on economic value than on health value. Making Space for Our Voices
Jennifer Cooper (Jennifer Magazine) joins Natalie to talk about what it takes to carve space out for women’s media. They talk about the instances they felt they were taking up too much space or didn’t have space offered to them, Another point during the episode is how sometimes it isn’t just the systematic barriers that hold us back from having women’s stories being told but the imposter syndrome and internalized voices that make us feel like our stories aren’t worth telling. They also make sure to fit in some instances to celebrate each other for the work they’re doing on this journey into independently ran women’s media.

ADHD and Sexuality
Ellen Moore (The Slut Show with Ellen Moore) joins Natalie for another fantastic conversation about sexuality. This time, the women will explore how ADHD affects how you experience sex and intimate relationships. They will share their own experiences with how their brain functions during moments of pleasure, both inside and outside of the bedroom. They will also talk on the connections made between ADHD and feeling disconnected to your partners and other relationships. One thing they’ve learned through their experiences is that you can’t expect to understand yourself sexually if you’re not understanding yourself mentally.

Marginalized Joy
Julia Washington (Pop Culture Makes Me Jealous) is back this week to discuss how misogyny makes it incredibly hard for women and other marginalized groups to experience joy. Natalie and Julia discuss how women’s hobbies and interests aren’t taken seriously and how happiness has been weaponized against women making them feel uncomfortable when they are experiencing pride within themselves. Other topics include how racism, classism, and fatphobia also contribute to marginalized joy. The main gist of the episode is there is a lot of gatekeeping happening when it comes to who gets to enjoy their life.

The Real Housewives
Chris Derosa (Fixing Famous People) is a tv producer who has worked with some of your favorite housewives! Natalie dives back into the Bravo-verse to pick Chris’s brain about the value The Real Housewives franchise has brought to television and how they are the representation we have of older women in media. From health scares, unemployments, jail sentences, divorces, and other life hurdles, The Real Housewives has given a platform for women to talk about their life stories. The two friends also touch on how The Real Housewives may promote this idea that we always have to keep up with everyone around us and stunt for Instagram, but they also offer an example of people who are confident enough to not need to race their peers to the top. Also, are The Real Housewives conflict resolution icons? We know for a fact that they are women living loudly and boldly!

Happy Thursday everyone! To All the Men I've Tolerated Before is officially on holiday break. As a special treat, we are sharing one of the first episodes to a new collaboration with Julia Washington (Pop Culture Makes Me Jealous). What is a Drauma Dump? Well, that's what happens when you write into Julia and I and tell us all about the ways someone in your life has hurt, betrayed, or disappointed you. We then adhere to our calling as women who rage against things like misogyny and oppression and yell at your family for you. Because we get it, you can't spend your energy and time yelling at people who are already undervaluing you. But we can!

Drauma Dump is a YouTube video series that will release episodes every Friday! You can find the channel here. Julia has posted our other premiere episode on the Pop Culture Makes Me Jealous Feed.

Female Celebrity Memoirs
Chelsea Devantez (Glamorous Trash host and television writer) is joining Natalie to talk about the importance of female celebrities’ memoirs. Chelsea has hosted the show Celebrity Book Club, now known as Glamorous Trash, since 2020. Natalie and Chelsea will talk about what has drawn them to celebrity memoirs, lessons they’ve learned about Patriarchy and misogyny through the stories of famous women, and how those lessons apply to their own stories. Chelsea will also give insight to what it is like writing your own memoir while also deprogramming from the messaging we are given through misogyny.

During the episode we refer to Chelsea’s podcast as Celebrity Book Club. Celebrity Book Club has now been rebranded as Glamorous Trash!

Purity Culture and Sex Ed
Natalie is joined by sex educator Erica Smith to talk about how our obsession with purity culture affects the quality of sex education we are given. Sex education should be something that is delivered to people without bias and without the idea that virginity and religion should be at the center of your sexual identity. Erica is the creator of the Purity Culture Dropout program that aims to provide support to people who are wanting to de-program from purity culture and take part in sex education that is queer inclusive, safe, and informative. The episode will center around how we became so purity driven when it came to sexuality, the consequences we face when sex is only viewed from the lens of religious morality, and what steps we can be taking to make sure we are talking about sex in ways that everyone has the knowledge to make decisions based in how they actually feel.

Final Girls: The Strongest Women in Horror
It's Spooky Season, Ya’ll! To celebrate Halloween, Natalie gathered past guests, Elizabeth and Darcie, to talk about final girls and their favorite “good for her” moments of horror movies. A consistent theme of the episode will be that the way women are represented in horror is a gateway of understanding how women are treated by society in general. Through the strength of the Final Girl, the three women have become empowered to leave bad situations, speak up for themselves and others, and say goodbye to politeness if it means they get to stay safe. A sampling of the movies, with spoilers, that will be discussed are Men, Barbarian, Bodies Bodies Bodies, and Halloween. Trigger warnings for body horror, sexual assault, and domestic violence.

ADHD Diagnosing
Katie from the podcast The Bar is Ankle High is here to talk about her experiences with receiving an ADHD diagnosis and how life has changed after it. Natalie shares her experiences with her self-diagnosis of being somewhere on the ADHD spectrum. The women share past events that could have gone so much differently if only they understood how their brain functioned and accommodated themselves for it. Topics will also include gatekeeping for ADHD diagnosing and accomodations, what advocating for your accommodations looks like, and what the world looks like when we lose the mindset of “well if I have to accommodate you, I have to accommodate everyone.”

Family Court and Divorcing Your Abuser
Natalie is joined by Courtney Gilmartin for a conversation about Courtney’s experiences with family court during the divorce from her former husband. Courtney shares openly about how misogyny within the court system makes it extremely difficult for women to keep themselves and their children safe and separate from their abusers. A large part of the discussion will focus on how Courtney was treated by judges, lawyers, and other professionals for speaking out against the domestic violence she was experiencing. There will also be a conversation surrounding how abuse presents differently in each case but there are patterns that many abusers exhibit and follow.

The Four Fear Responses
Am I actually in danger or is this just new? Amy Green Smith, host of the Bold-Faced Truth podcast, is here to discuss the four fear responses. How does our fear manifest in a modern world where there’s not a large animal chasing us and we have protection from the elements? Now we have the new fear response of fawning that manifests as people pleasing. Our flight response resonates in the way we experience depression. And how does misogyny use our fear responses as a tool to oppression and a way to keep us silent and small? All of it and more is discussed in this episode!

When Women Uphold Misogyny
Natalie and guest Julia Washington let listeners in on one of their privately most talked about topics. This is an episode designed around the idea of what makes it hard to be a deprogrammed woman who has to live in a world where other women uphold misogynistic beliefs or Patriarchal standards. The women go into what makes them frustrated when it comes to living a life that isn’t centered around men but living in a world where centering men is very much the status quo. They also talk about recent current events and how disappointing it is when powerful women who they admire are found to be acting in misogynistic ways or dating misogynists themselves. Celebrities of note they will discuss are Lizzo, Taylor Swift, and Beyonce.

Demisexuality
Demisexuality is when someone’s attraction to another person is reliant on an emotional connection and a demisexual individual does not experience attraction based on first impressions or physical characteristics. Katie Majka is back on the show to discuss her new book What’s Your Vibe? In her new book, she hopes to give more representation to people who identify as demisexual. Her and Natalie talk about the different ways people find themselves attracted to others, how isolating it can be to begin to discover and reflect on your own sexuality, and what it means to be understanding to someone who experiences attraction in a different way than what is perpetuated by media and literature. For Pride Month, they’re hoping everyone leaves June with a little more empathy and understanding for others while also living an authentic and true to themselves lifestyle.

Scandoval
Natalie and Annie have been long standing fans of Bravo’s Vanderpump Rules and the rollercoaster of breakups, girl fights, drunken mistakes, and lies they were presented each season. However, none of those events have compared to the wild explosion that was Scandoval. News broke that Tom Sandoval had cheated on long term partner, Ariana Madix, with other cast mate, Raquel (Rachel) Leviss, fans glued onto their televisions and social media platforms to find out how this scandal was going to play out. Natalie and Annie are going to talk about Scandavol in the only way Natalie knows how, by focusing on how misogyny affected Tom and Ariana’s relationship, the fall out of the scandal, and the other castmates. We’ve talked reality tv before on To All the Men I’ve Tolerated Before, but Vanderpump Rules gets its own special episode simply because Natalie and Annie will take any opportunity to make fun of Tom Sandavol and his glittery pants.

Why Isn't 30 More Flirty?
Clarissa and Kourtney from the podcast 30, Dirty, and Dying are on the podcast this week to talk about entering your 30s and the mindshift that happens between your 20s and 30s. Stereotypes about your 20s and 30s and all the expectations society puts on us will be debunked. There will be some discussion on how we came to terms with the things we needed to deprogram from like internalized misogyny, a ticking clock that our youth ends at 29, and that you have to stop experimenting, growing, or changing once you’ve entered “real adulthood”. Where are the actual grownups? Millenials sure as heck don’t know! And it is because we’ve been fed so much junk about what it means to grow up and we were rushed to form identities before we truly knew anything about ourselves and what we wanted!

Toxic Masculinity and Male Dating Privilege
Ellen Moore, host of The Slut Show with Ellen Moore, is back on the podcast! She opens up about a recent breakup that resulted in a nine page letter detailing how toxic masculinity had given her partner a misconception of what a relationship should be. The women go into how misogyny has created a culture around dating that allows for men to have their privilege leak over into our romantic lives. They talk about the emotional labor women take on within relationships, how toxic masculinity contributes to gender norms in relationships, and urge listeners to remember that everyone should feel cared for and seen during a romantic partnership.

Taylor Swift
If you haven’t heard, Natalie is going to the Eras Tour. That means she has been doing a deep dive on her favorite songs from Taylor Swift. Which means that she has also been reflecting on how misogyny plays into the songs she has written and how widespread everyday misogyny is reflected throughout Taylor’s career. Elizabeth Kyle is the perfect Swiftie to help guide Natalie through this conversation. The two women discuss the social dynamics that goes into being a Swiftie, the focus on the men she has had relationships with, and how she has been treated as a professional in the music industry. Between the two of them, they go straight from a Lover to their Midnights Era, and talk about how being aware of how internalized misogyny and widespread cultural misogyny affects people on a larger scale. Topics that are confronted are the way we view success among women creators, to the way we talk about women who have had bad relationships, and how we talk about other women’s bodies and our own bodies. And that’s some real Vigilante Shit.

In true fashion, the conversation also led to topics like reality dating show hosts, red flags in relationships, what's going on currently for us artistically, and... just what kind of bonus material can we make when it comes to misogyny being so prevalent in our culture? You have to be a Patreon member to find out all the hot gossip we have and how I was always right to think The Toms were sus at Sur.

Domestic Violence Reporting and Advocacy
Amanda Kippert, co-host of the podcast Toxic and editor-in-chief of the non-profit Domesticshelters.org, is joining Natalie today to talk about her work with domestic violence reporting and her advocacy efforts for the survivors of domestic violence. Discussion will center around what policies fail people living with domestic violence, how our culture supports abusers and not the abused, and why misogyny is so prevalent that when survivors report their abuse, they often go unheard or not believed. It is an episode that offers people an insight into the reality of domestic abuse within our society, how we can advocate for those living with domestic violence, and also begins building solutions with the resources available to victims and survivors.

Mindset Surrounding Divorce
Natalie is joined by divorce recovery coach, Leah Marie Mazur, to talk about how we have been conditioned to feel about divorce. Throughout the discussion on their own experiences with divorce, topics such as shame, settling, and learning about yourself will be covered. They will also touch on how misogyny plays a role in our ideals about marriage and our knee jerk reaction to avoid divorce at all costs. Divorce will be an end to a contractual relationship, but it doesn’t have to be the end of your joy or happiness. We hope this episode gives you some more perspective on how important it is to know and love yourself instead of tiptoeing around societal expectations and ignoring what you want from your life.

The Audacity is High and My Tolerance is Low
Dionna Goley is on the show this week and she has inspired this episode through her support of Natalie. Often, Natalie and Dionna get together for lunch to support one another in their ventures but more importantly they come together as two strong personalities to talk about how tired they are of tolerating the state of things. They have coined their new attitude about life “I wish you would try me”. For the episode they talk about the audacity of women not being paid, how they’re not being treated well, and how it's making people fragile when Dionna and Natalie want to talk about it. Join them in a feral conversation where they dare misogynists to even say something ridiculous to them.

Patreon Teaser: First Try at Reality Tv With Annie
Wait a minute, Natalie and Annie already did an episode about reality tv! You're so right, however it was actually our second take at chatting about reality tv. This episode was our first try and it is more chatting between two friends and less trying to dismantle The Patriarchy. So we're kept it as part of the Patreon where you get to learn more about Nat and Team Tolerator!

Annie and Natalie will be diving deep on one of their favorite guilty pleasures, reality tv. From the Bachelor Franchise to the Kardashians, Nat and Annie walk listeners through how reality tv can be trashy but it can also reflect on how certain people in our society are viewed and holds a mirror up to our culture and beliefs. Reality tv may not be a classy artform, but it does provide a lot of people the chance to reflect on themselves while also getting to laugh at some trainwrecks.

Round Two of Women and Wrestling
One day Natalie got a fateful text from former guest Darcie Darko. It asked “do you want to do a follow up episode on how the misogyny I experienced got worse?” This episode will take Team Tolerator back into the world of women in wrestling. Darcie will dive into how training at her wrestling school continuously got more uncomfortable. From sticking up for predators to being iced out of the ring, Darcie has tolerated a lot of poor behavior from the men who were in control of her ability to partake in her hobby and passion. We will talk about wrestling, media surrounding both women and men, and what it takes to be participating in a sport that is dominated by men. There will even be a story or two about how the scarcity mindset women live under also affects how they treat one another in these types of communities.

Gatekeeping in the Art World
Natalie is joined once again by the loveliest of friends, Annie Sieg. Annie has been on to talk about reality tv and your body inspiring art, but now we will get to hear her speak on the gatekeeping that happens within the art community. This episode is inspired by her content series about uplifting artistic voices that aren’t your typical, old crusty white dude and her dedication to making artistic creativity, art history, and art techniques accessible and available to those who want to have more art in their lives. The women talk about how misogyny, capitalism, scarcity mindset, and rigid education standards can diminish one's faith in their own artistic expression.

Negging Isn't Flirting
This week, we have Natalie New back on the podcast. Listeners will remember Natalie from our episode about gatekeeping in the geek community. For this episode, Natalie and Natalie New will be discussing what happens to a relationship when negging goes too far. They will talk about the effects of negging on the communication in a relationship and how it can break down trust between the partners. They’ll pull from their own relationships, their own behaviors, and use media examples like Critical Role to demonstrate why they wish people would choose a better way to express their sense of humor. Loving Your Relationship With Food
Natalie is joined this week by Kiki Athanas. Kiki is the founder of Mind, Body, Beauty which allows her to help women overcome the negative mindsets they have surrounding food and diets. The two women talk about diet culture, restricting your food choices, how to set boundaries between yourself and your headspace around food, and how to ignore or combat the way the people around you talk about the food you are consuming and how you should be eating. Whether it be codependency, Capitalism, or misogyny; we have been fed a lot of harmful information about the food we eat and how we should feel about the act of nourishing our bodies. All or Nothing Thinking
This week, Natalie joined by Kate House, host of the podcast Live By Design. Kate has built her career around helping people live intentionally. Her and Natalie sit down to discuss the toxicity of the “all or nothing” mindset. Natalie expresses how when it comes to relationships, she has often found herself at her wits end and wanting to quit but instead holds onto the relationship so she doesn’t fail. The women discuss how capitalism, religious cultures, societal pressures to be perfect, and more have created this idea that if you’re not going to be great at something, then don’t do it. Staying Safe
This is a very special season 2 finale episode of To All the Men I’ve Tolerated Before! We are joined by some of our favorite guests from past episodes. Annie Sieg, Caitlin Grant, and Julia Washington are back and we’re all talking about all the different ways women keep themselves safe from harm. Whether it is physical safety during the night, at home, or literally anywhere a woman has to be alone or in a vulnerable position, there are a lot of tips and tricks that young women have been taught for decades on how they take ownership of making themselves safe. Why are women so responsible for getting home alive and well instead of living in a world where they can count on everyone respecting their right to safety? Come discuss it with all of us!

Women and Wealth
Kelly Winget is on the podcast this week to speak on managing wealth, whether it is yours or you’ve been employed to manage someone else’s, and what that world looks like for women. Kelly is a financial entrepreneur and founder of Dallas-based private equity company Alternative Wealth Partners. She has built her career with a fierceness that demanded respect from men in the wealth industry and oil industry. There’s more reflections on how women are spoken to about money, what happens when men are confronted with a woman who knows how to manage wealth, and who is making moves to make sure women’s voices are being heard in the world of money. The best piece of advice given during the episode? When being talked down to about your money, ask if there is a woman who is able to help you that is hired by the company.

Presenting the News and Knowing Your Audience
Stacey Simms, host of Diabetes Connections and author of The World’s Worst Diabetes Mom, is Natalie’s guest this week to talk about her career in morning news. Natalie and Stacey have a conversation about women being overlooked for promotion, proving their worth in the workplace, and how to have honest conversations with your co-workers about what it means to be a woman in the workplace. They also dissect what it means to use your knowledge about your audience to your advantage when presenting topics that may be out of their comfort zone or what happens when your audience’s comfort zone dictates what you get to present to the public. The episode rounds out with a discussion on building a community around diabetes and how important it is to understand someone else’s experience in a community you take space within. It is an episode that brings together two women from different generations who have a lot in common, even if their approach to their place in the general media takes different notes or tones.

Fair Play and Weaponized Incompetence
Natalie had the pleasure to talk to Laura Danger after being a huge fan of her social media presence on the idea of “weaponized incompetence”. Laura will go over how fair play has a role in healthy expectations and boundaries within your marriage and relationships. Natalie and Laura will also discuss distinct examples that they have witnessed of this idea of weaponized incompetence where your partner gets to just not know how to do something and you pick up that emotional/physical/mental labor. Not only do they find that as a really petty excuse to not be involved in a laborious activity, but they also discover that weaponized ignorance is also at play when it comes to how women are treated within their homes, society, and the world.

Representation Matters
This week, Natalie sits with director and producer Jon Lee Brody to tackle conversations on why representation in media matters and the experience one has when you fight for representation in that field. The pair will discuss moments in their careers where they became the voice in the room speaking for people that needed additional backing to make sure they were given the respect and treatment warranted to them. They also dive into how you represent yourself during tough situations or humbling moments is also a really great indicator to how you’ve grown or another indicator that we still have a long way to go when it comes to tackling topics such as diversity in film, education in our schools that includes everyone’s story, and what happens when your ego is dealt a blow. The women were inspired to process how women are shamed by our society by taking a look at how our culture revolves around judging celebrities. Topics of discussion will be celebrity divorce, court cases, and why we feel such ownership to celebrities’ lives that we get to decide when they make the correct choices or if they deserve the hurt they experience. You're Not Too Geeky to Gatekeep
This week, Natalie has Natalie New on to help her process something that has been bothering her. Natalie and Natalie have a huge love for the cast of Critical Role. With that love, came the heartbreaking realization that the community that surrounds the cast can sometimes bully, harass, or even threaten the female cast members just because they play Dungeons and Dragons a little differently than the audience would prefer. This week will uncover the world of gatekeeping within the gaming community. Your host is tired of geeks getting a pass and being called “too nerdy to be mean” when she has witnessed firsthand how women+ players are treated within the community. Single and…Thriving?
This week Natalie is joined by Caitlin Grant to talk about the ins and outs of how our society views single people. The women get real about the financial strain and emotional landscape it takes to be single in today’s world. Whether it is getting questioning glances from loved ones, feeling like everything in your life is on you and you’re without support, or wondering why your achievements aren’t as celebrated just because they look a little bit different than others…being single in today’s culture is still not as accepted as you would think. Caitlin helps Natalie have a cathartic moment of reflection on how you can really enjoy being single and the life you have built for yourself, but still be aware that society may not value your contributions as much as they do the good ol’ family norm. Turns Out I Do Have Religious Trauma
This week Elizabeth Kyle is back and she helped Natalie realize she didn’t escape religious trauma. The goal of this episode was for Elizabeth to talk about Southern Bible Belt culture and it immediately shifted. The women have a cathartic hour where they let themselves express all the ways that the beliefs that were imposed on them in their youth through Christianity actually had a lasting effect on them. They discuss the way women are treated and represented in the religions they were made to practice. Natalie also has a realization that assimilating to Christian Doctrine robbed her of the opportunity to explore things like queerness, sexuality, and some other big themes that she has an entire different view on in her adult life. This one gets deep and it gets real. What did it make you think about? Follow us at @menivetoleratedpod on Instagram and firesidechat.com/nataliekatona on Fireside for the live show! They talk about the ins and outs of what makes musicians so magnetic to the two of them. The stage presence, the big hair, the raw talent, and the extreme eye contact are the things that make Natalie and Julia feel like they’re in the middle of a movie and on the verge of a destiny that is filled with glory and passion. And yet, Julia will make Natalie realize a thing she is still coming to terms with: that the adrenaline of the highs of dramatic relationships with a volatile artist can get you only so far. Millennial Dating Upheavals
Natalie is joined this week by Lindy and Stephy from Turn of the Millennials! They will be chatting about everything millennials have lived through when it comes to dating. Grinding in a dark school gym, limited text messages, no phone calls until after 9:00pm, and group hangs were the hallmarks of how Millennials had to navigate dating in their teens. Then, the world shifted and Millennials were introduced to online dating and they had to deal with the shame of signing up for “one of those websites”. Live in nostalgia with the women as they have some great laughs about all the trends they’ve had to witness when it comes to romance. 90’s Male Protagonists Made Me Codependent
Natalie and her guest, Elizabeth, do not love themselves enough to ignore a bad boy in a leather jacket! Why? Because of the Shawn Hunters and Dawson Leerys of the world! Elizabeth is going to help Natalie dive deep into how the 90’s Male Protagonists that they grew up watching set them up for some awful dating mindsets. Why does Natalie love to caretake her partners and fix men? Probably because Joey Potter had to. Join the two women as they give the tv shows of their youth a review and come to terms with all the ways they were set up to put men first and to downplay their needs for their partners. Being a Minimalist with Delanie Fischer
This week, Natalie has the distinct pleasure of interviewing one of the first supporters of TATMITB, Delanie Fischer. Delanie is the amazing host of E-Ficionado and the co-host of Self-Helpless. She is going to walk Natalie through her minimalist lifestyle and how relationships, capitalism, and the patriarchy play a role in her choice to live minimalistically. Her motto “I’m going to do only the things that bring me the most happiness” is inspiring and she even tries to convince Natalie she is more than her maximalist manic spending and collecting in order to feel a moment of adrenaline. Minimalism is more than the stuff Delanie chooses to buy, it is being intentional with her time and her energy. How has our society conditioned you to not put yourself and priorities first and instead be distracted by everything available to us in the modern age? Take a few tips from Delanie from this episode! Orgasming (Or At Least Chatting about It) with Remy Kassimir
This week is an especially exciting week for Natalie! She is joined by Remy Kassimir, comedian and host of the podcast How C*m, to talk about their experiences trying to communicate about orgasming and pleasure with partners! Remy was a fantastic mentor for an hour as her and Natalie maneuvered through their past partners and how talking to them about pleasure has gone. Natalie lets Remy into her headspace when it comes to being passive and almost mechanical when it comes to trying to achieve the Big O in the bedroom. The hour is spent chatting about sleeping with men who don’t like you, body image coming into play when asking for what you want, and how everyone’s body deserves to be worshiped in the bedroom. Behind the Scenes of Pandemic Nursing
This week, Natalie is joined by a new friend, Taryn. Taryn began her nursing career on the brink of the COVID-19 Pandemic. She will walk Natalie through the struggles that nurses went through while we were honking our horns to celebrate them. The two women will also have an honest conversation about nurses’ perceived cost to a hospital compared to doctors’ worth to the hospital as well as what happens when lawmakers create laws where a medical practitioner has the power to use their prejudice to delegate what kind of care a patient deserves. For Natalie, she needed to verbally process how odd it is to go back into a society and into relationships where you’re not sure if you still fit in. We Don't Talk About Generational Trauma
Natalie is joined by Mireya Lopez, host of Mothering Anxiety. The two women are going to get real about their musings of the movie Encanto and how it forced them to confront their generational trauma. The result is a beautiful conversation of how generational trauma affects people into their adulthood and how we choose to heal from it. They get real about the past and the behaviors they have exhibited in relationships as a direct result of their generational trauma.
