It's a story we've been following for going on 20 years. And right now, the debate over drugs and young children is hotter than ever. Not heroin or cannabis, but prescription drugs; the kind used to control troubled youngsters with problems like ADHD. It's estimated that around 60,000 Australian children are on these drugs. And, controversially, that's sure to increase now that one of them - ritalin - has been listed on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme. True, you have to feel sorry for the poor parents. How do you cope with these little terrors? But even back in 1992, we were asking if all this pill popping had gone too far.
