Yesterday we focused on what is a short squeeze and what is happening in the market. Today let’s go deeper into what AMC Stock Analysis and GME (Gamestop) stock are up to.
It’s Monday - Markets are back on .. however remember Diamond Hands for AMC and GME. Today we also hit on Blackberry which has been a heavily requested update in the comments section. Along with this update on the news and the SEC is finally doing their job!
Thursday, major trading platforms did something so outrageous that their actions triggered a Congressional request for a Dept. of Justice investigation, inspired a class action lawsuit, and rapidly united the FIRE and YOLO camps into strange bedfellows.
What did they do? They blocked us from the markets. They didn’t let us trade.They targeted the trading freeze on stocks targeted by the Wall Street Bets subreddit, including GameStop, Nokia, Blackberry and AMC Theaters.
We discussed yesterday the recent rise was due to three things: speculation, gamma squeeze (massive option buying and rising volatility that forced call option sellers to hedge by buying the underlying stock), And
Short squeeze which increased demand for stock by short sellers needing to close their positions.
The above factors were magnified by the fact that many shareholders are not looking to sell shares at prices in the current range, which resulted in a widely asymmetrical supply-demand situation.
AMC has a highly indebted balance sheet and is likely to be free cash flow negative even as we come out of the pandemic.
short squeezes have made it clear that shorting stocks, even if they appear to be heading to bankruptcy, can be a very risky endeavour.
