John Wall could be signed by the Los Angeles Lakers if the Los Angeles Clippers decide to buy him out.
The Los Angeles Lakers are anything but done making moves ahead of Thursday's trade deadline. The Purple and Gold were ready to land Kyrie Irving before the Dallas Mavericks surprised everybody and snatched the point guard away from Brooklyn, ruining the Lakers' plans to come back to championship contention.
Now, the Lakers reportedly have a plan B after missing out on Kyrie, and things could be more interesting for them even after the trade deadline strikes. They have several candidates to trade for who aren't Kyrie, but the competition could be hard for the 17-time NBA champions.
According to Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, John Wall could be an interesting candidate for the Lakers, but it all depends on his future with the Clippers and if they decide to buy him out of his contract.
If the team doesn't trade him, Wall is a buyout candidate. But even if he is dealt, if the destination isn't a playoff contender in need of a veteran backup, he could still be a free agent before the March 1 deadline.
Given his ties to Klutch Sports, could he end up with the Los Angeles Lakers? Another possibility might be the Miami Heat, provided they don't get a point guard indirectly via the Lakers.
As you can see, not everything is lost for the Lakers, but it's pretty clear that their biggest target was Kyrie Irving. Still, the team could find interesting pieces via trade or in the buyout market that could be good for them for the rest of the season.
