Carl Weathers, the Rocky franchise's Apollo Creed and star of films including Predator and Happy Gilmour has died aged 76. He died in his sleep at his Los Angeles home on Thursday (1 February), his manager, Matt Luber, confirmed on Friday (2 February).

Happy Gilmore is a 1996 American sports comedy film directed by Dennis Dugan and produced by Robert Simonds. It stars Adam Sandler as the title character, an unsuccessful ice hockey player who discovers a newfound talent for golf. When Happy learns that his grandmother is going to lose her house, he decides to enter the golf tournament to win the prize money to save her home. The film also stars Modern Family's Julie Bowen, Christopher Macdonald and Carl Weathers.
