上星期六(6/11/2021)起因山頂道近僑福道的地底水管爆裂而造成山泥傾瀉及地基不穩,受影響地段有更嚴謹的重量限制,使新巴15線不能派出原有車型Enviro400駛至山頂。新巴於是安排短車身的單層巴士行走X15作分流山頂和灣仔峽道之前落車的乘客。然而車隊中現時只有3部Enviro200 (#2503 ~2505)可以載客,承載力低於乘客需求,星期日起便向城巴借調數部短青年巴士支援X15線。路面工程預計於11月19日才完工,相信這短暫的“聯營”服務將吸引不少巴士迷一遊,便趁早在星期一(8/11/2021)不太影響其他需要上車的居民下前往拍攝。
新巴X15是因應山頂纜車停駛以進行翻新工程而生的路線。由中環天星碼頭往來山頂,比起開辦初期一站直達金鐘西的超特快定位已有不同。這段特殊時期下,要前往山頂道沿途各站的乘客需付較15較貴$2.3的車資,變相是多一個分段收費。平日派出6部單層約半小時一班,載客率重回9成以上的開線初期佳績,算是封關導致內循環的新經濟模式下的一則喜訊吧。
乘坐的是城巴10.5米青年#1819 RS370。本來以為車長會像昨日善用電牌百搭功能“先R後D”的顯示路線,然而這日3部短青早段均沒“攪牌”,只是利用紙牌提供路線資訊,大失所望。在車輛的車頭和兩側的玻璃上均貼上新巴標誌,惟這次借車沒冇更換倒後鏡至新巴的豬潤鏡款式。意想不到老車長不抗拒拍攝,又熱心用英語提醒到山頂道方才有站,絕對是優質車長。駕駛態度同時進取非常,在司徒拔道上斜時如履平地,踩盡這9歲零1個月大的青年至故障邊緣。雖然敵不過皇后大道東和山頂道等燈的車龍,這次42人上斜用47分鐘抵達山頂的表現算是理想,上斜急速過彎的快感好比1年前的拆樓973般精彩。
這批短青年投入服務時由城巴營運前往山頂的515線系早已取消,如今以借將身份讓黃車力量重返山頂,這回真是彼此連城一線。藉此拍攝獨自慢遊山頂,裝修過後的山頂廣場已不是熟悉的模樣。及後取甘道和灣仔峽道落山真是斜得難以停步,還是上次經白加道落山行的舒服些。冷清的山頂加上驟冷的天氣,悄然提醒這裏其實危機四伏,但最緊要人無事。right?
Last Saturday(6/11/2021), due to a landslide caused by a burst water pipe near 40 Peak Road, a more stringent weight restriction was imposed, making it impossible for NWFB 15 to send the original Enviro 400 to the Peak. As a result, NWFB has arranged for short single-deck buses to run on the X15 to divert passengers from the Peak and Wan Chai Gap Road. However, only 3 Enviro200s (#2503~2505) are available in the fleet and their capacity is not sufficient to meet passenger demand. Finally, several short Youngmans from CTB are borrowed to support this route. The road works are not expected to be completed until 19 November, so it is believed that this short "joint" service will attract many bus enthusiasts to ride. I then riding the bus asap on Monday(8/11/2021) without affecting other residents who need to board the bus much.
NWFB X15 is a route created in response to the suspension of the Peak Tram for refurbishment works. Routing from Central(Star Ferry) to the Peak is different from the initial one-stop Super Express service to Admiralty West at first. For this particular period, passengers travelling to the various stops along Peak Road will have to pay $2.30 more than route 15, which is in effect an additional section fare. Today, 6 single-decker buses were dispatched about half an hour apart and the patronage rate was back to over 90%, which was a good news in the new economic model of internal circulation caused by the closure of the border.
The bus was a 10.5m Youth #1819 RS370 and the expected "R&D" function to display the routes as shown yesterday were not used. Disappointed. The NWFB logo was affixed to the front and side windows of the vehicles, but the rear mirrors were not replaced with the NWFB piggyback mirrors. I was surprised that the old bus captain did not refuse filming and was kind enough to communicate with passengers in English about the routing. The driving attitude was also very aggressive, smooth ride on Stubbs Road, stepping over the 9yr and 1 month old Youngman to the edge of the breakdown. 47mins journey for carrying 42 passengers in total was good enough.
Finally, CTB buses could have chances to service the Peak after cancelation of 515 in 2012. The renovated Peak Galleria is no longer the familiar sight. The descent from Coombe Road and Wanchai Gap Road were so steep for stopping, the last time I went down via Baikal Road was more comfortable. The coldness of the Peak and the sudden chill of the weather reminded us of the dangers of this place.
