Hello. Yes, this is the third version of our first podcast. When you run a show for over 4 years and then decide to change your name, you kind of want to give you folks that are coming in at episode 1 a heads up. So here we are. We're Ian and Dave and we're Apex Adjacent. We were/are TeamClearCoat for four years, but we're Apex Adjacent now. We love you.

Episode 148-Don't do as we say. Or do.

It is never too late or too early to apologize. If there was ever one word that could sum up the show, "sorry" may not be it, but it's in the top, I'm going to say, three. Look, we're the last folks that you should look to as role models. Don't be envious of Dave's instant ability to get sunburned when he's around any lightbulb brighter than a candle, as well as you shouldn't be jealous of all of the constant manscaping that Ian gets to do.

Blisters and body hair aside, there are a few things that we have to offer the automotive enthusiast landscape, namely perspective and the removal of pre-existing biases. In this episode we discuss vanilla-boxing cars to see what their base whitelabel appeal would be.

Lastly, take peace in knowing that everything is right in the world once again, well, not really, not in any way shape or form. But the little bit of entropy that fell into line was Ian resuming his rightful position above Dave in the Fantasy Effington Oneries.

Episode 151-The taste of victory

Ah the refreshing flavor of victory. Dave doesn't get to taste it often, or seemingly care to, but when he gets his pasty ginger lips on the sweet chalice of triumph, he certainly doesn't hesitate to gloat about it.

While Dave's victory is technically not impressive, or impressive at all, we are truly impressed by a VW Jetta. Episode 152-Royals!

Humility. Denial. When it comes to Ian's karting abilities, our resident racer (the better and less-sunburned of the two at least) seems to be in a Schrodinger-esque superstate composed of the two where he is both humble and in a state of denial about his talent. Well guess who comes crashing through the cat box to boldly declare that Ian is a good driver? Dave. Dave does that. We all know he does that. He does. He did.

Episode One Five Three

We're still puzzled as to why someone would put a put a 3.7L badge on a Ford Mustang. What we're not puzzled about is what WRX drivers adorn their cars with, especially when it's such an OBVIOUS CLICHÉ that you're walking into! We're not mad, we're really not. Ultimately, we're just disappointed. It's almost like the person is being given a test, and the results determine whether or not we'd ever be friends with that person.

You know what Dave's not disappointed by? Ian. He's not! He's proud! Specifically, he's proud of his ideas about how someone looks at cars when they bolt on junk you find at Pep Boys. Any time someone looks at their car with the perspective of it being something more than an appliance to get from point A to B, then we love it, and it is our duty to encourage it!

Andrew, one of our listeners, rightly called the TCC Crisis Line when he happens across a cluster of Polaris vehicles, which leads us to coining a term for a group of them: A Dockers of Slingshots. A pair of pleated Dad pants, a Ryobi power drill, and a folding chair that gets turned around so that one can "rap" with the kids all combined into the primordial ooze that birthed that vehicle.

Episode 160

Booty N Pizza. What more can be said? What more could be desired out of life? Never have eleven letters said so much. Our admiration dials get turned to 11 on this show; normally a Mustang owner wouldn't cause so much envy…but…Booty N Pizza.

Speaking of things that make us happy, Dave detected that Ian may have needed a mental break, and stepped in with three impromptu karting heats to get the bad vibes out. We had some fun, Dave inserted himself into an already goofy situation, and we chopped through some pedestrian traffic like it was standing still.

It all comes down to this folks, sometimes life throws a pylon in your way. Said pylon may or may not be moving. Sometimes there's twenty of them and somehow one of them ended up being the president of the United States. Episode 167-It's time to fix something.

One hundred and sixty six episodes scattered across more than three years. That's how long TeamClearCoat has been in this here podcast game and we're just now FINALLY correcting a huge blind spot of ours, talking to people that daily drive hearses! WE KNOW! Episode 171-So very cold.

Here's our ingredients: Our intrepid podcast hosts, hapless as always. An outdoor karting facility. Winter in Colorado. Sub-freezing temperatures. The Saab TurboX. We could honestly have an hour long weekly show that just talked about the woes of owning a TurboX. No one would listen to it, but the lukewarm content is there to be readily mined. When you basically own the physical manifestation of the absolute reason that an entire car brand is extinct, such content simply produces itself.

Episode 196-It's seafood this time. It was leftover pizza last time.

Much like Ian's over-inflated rental car tires, we pump as much hot air into this episode as we can, but beware, tick tock, Ian's tummy has different ideas of how this evening should proceed. What is it about our show that somehow impacts people's digestive systems? If it was the listener's stomachs, fine, whatever, not our problem. But since something seems to be happening with the hosts…we're gonna keep our eyes on it.

Episode 197

The Chrysler Pacifica is many things: a minivian, A hybrid vehicle, a nice place to be. More than anything however, it is one specific thing: a belt sander that takes every rough edge that life throws at you and smooths it down to a pleasant, easy-to-handle shape. In this episode we discuss the minivan we love so much and what it's like to handle said shapes after they've been Pacifica-fied.

We really enjoyed our time with this minivan, it inspired some great discussion and perspectives between us for this episode. We also reflected on the times and ways minivans impacted our lives, from family vacations to driving exams to one of us (Ian) getting it stuck in a ditch from drifts gone awry.

Episode 198-Worse than Freddy.

Humble listeners, we want to give you a warning. Once you've seen the horrors that Dave presents in this episode, you will never be able to unsee them. They shall haunt your every waking moment, and intrude your dreams, WHICH IS A REAL THING THAT HAPPENED. Yep. Dave saw a carstanza so bad that he actually had a dream about it the following night.

So yeah. A carstanza exists that is so bad that it crossed planes of reality, weaving it's hideous nose into the fiber of multiple dimensions. Yeah. There isn't a whole lot more to say about that other than this is your last warning.

Episode 208-It's getting hot in here.

In these turbulent times, it's good to know that there are a few things you can always count on. Thing the first, our intrepid road warrior, Ian, will find your city's smoked meats. Thing the second, the very same Ian mentioned before, well he's gonna find a karting track too. Thing the third, that floppy-haired goofball is gonna set a crazy good time and gain respect from the locals. These are just the facts folks.

While Ian was abroad in the Louis of Saints, Dave was back at home breaking, repairing, replacing, and breaking a lot of things in his orbit. It turns out grieving takes many shapes and forms, as does our therapy for said grief. Thankfully a lot of the repairs end up in a good place, except for the old man sedan. We're still not sure how that one is going to turn out. Hmmmmm.

Episode 210- Hashtag RMDE2019

Despite Dave's best efforts, Ian managed to secure a hotel room for this year's Rocky Mountain Driving Experience with two separate beds, thereby preventing most of the spooning from happening.
