Now that Daniel Craig's final chapter is written, which actor should star in the next James Bond movie? For over 50 years, playing James Bond job has been one of the acting industry's most prestigious gigs, leaving a legacy that only seems to get stronger with each incarnation. Sean Connery paved the way with 1962's Dr. No, and was briefly replaced by George Lazenby in On Her Majesty's Secret Service. Live & Let Die marked the beginning of Roger Moore's prolific run, while Timothy Dalton embraced 007's darker side in 1987's The Living Daylights. Pierce Brosnan's era started strongly with Goldeneye, but desperately needed reinvention by the time Daniel Craig took over in 2006.
Craig breathed new life into 007 with a more modern, realistic approach to the character, and across a 5-film arc, audiences have watched James evolve from a bitter rookie proving a point, into a bitter veteran with nothing to prove whatsoever. No Time To Die brings the Daniel Craig years to a definitive conclusion, and Bond 26 will reimagine Britain's suavest spy once again, moving away from Casino Royale continuity into a fresh 007 narrative. Who'll be playing James Bond when that happens is the all-important question. Eon will shortly begin (if it hasn't already) casting Bond no. 007, and there's no clear frontrunner.
"If Barbara [Broccoli] and Michael [G. Wilson] interested me in any capacity to be a part of their movies, then I will gladly have that discussion, and that would be something I'd be very keen to explore further."
Well, there you have it. It looks like Henry Cavill is down to join the iconic world of James Bond. And while many think he’d be the perfect one to play 007 himself, Cavill is open to take on the challenge of being a Bond Villain. After all, he’s got experience doing both types of gigs.
Henry Cavill’s comments to The Movie Dweeb are sure to inspire a few new James Bond theories involving the hulking Superman actor. Since he’s already spoken about playing Bond a few times, the interviewer instead asked about the possibility of being a villain. And either way, it seems the 38-year-old star is down to join such an illustrious franchise.
