China's successful launch of a science satellite triggered Taiwanese authorities to issue emergency warnings to residents. The incident happened as Foreign Minister Joseph Wu was holding a media briefing. He resumed the briefing, but criticised China for carrying out a "grey-zone" activity, and urged Beijing to stop what he called "provocations". China has confirmed launching a satellite that flew at a high altitude over Taiwan. State media said on board the rocket was the Einstein Probe, designed to use X-rays to observe neutron stars and black holes.
