Top News | Despite curfew in parts of Imphal, protest continue unabated. Following the deaths of two Meitei students who were kidnapped in July, new violence broke out in Imphal. In the early hours of Thursday, a rowdy crowd destroyed two four-wheeler vehicles and the deputy commissioner's office in Imphal West. Hijam Linthoingambi, 17, and Phijam Hemjit, 20, two two people from the Meitei community, were named. Security forces used tear gas to restore control as demonstrators blocked highways with flaming tyres, rocks, and iron pipes to prevent them from entering residential areas.
