橫嶺古道沿著紗帽山的山麓而行，是昔日頂湖地區通往北投庄的道路之一。現在古道長僅850公尺，寛闊平緩好走，沿途有幽雅的竹林隧道，是一條優質的古道健行路線。
The Hengling Historical Trail runs along the foothills of Shamao Mountain, and was one of the roads fron Dinghu area to Beitou in the past.
橫嶺古道的終點為紅壇，可以續行半嶺步道至梅湖公車站，再繞回橫嶺古道的入口，完成環狀的健行路線。或者可以步行湖底路至紗帽路，再搭公車下山。
The end of the Hengling Historical Trail is Hongtan. You can continue the Banling Trail to Meihu Bus Station, and then walking return to the entrance of the Hengling Historical Trail to complete the circular hiking route. Or you can walk down the Hude Road to Shamao Road and take bus down the mountain.
