GOP Primary over the weekend, Trump called her a bird brain for focusing on a region with small numbers and pointed to lobbyists voting in what he called a swamp. He went on to pat himself on the back for his wins in states with big numbers of delegates.

The President asked Trump to, “ join me…or I’ll join you” and we will get this done. He reminded Trump in a passionate plea that this deal is what is best for America. The move laid the border issue right at Trump’s feet. If nothing gets done, now whose fault will it be? We will ask journalist and political analyst Michael Shure for this thoughts. Friday Fabulous Florida is on tap. We’ll check in with our fun friends in Florida to see what new and exciting things they’re up to this week! Culture Blaster Michael Snyder is headed our way with the good word on all the movies, tv, and sports we will need this rainy and maybe snowy weekend!

For now, Donald Trump gets his delay from the Supreme Court…but the immunity question may not go his way. Analysis from former federal prosecutor David Katz. California’s primary election is just days away. The Republican candidate vying to represent Californians in the U.S. Senate will stop by The Mark Thompson Show. Steve Garvey says he is looking to bring stability to a "dysfunctional Washington” so we’ll ask him what he thinks is broken and his ideas for making repairs. The environment takes center stage with “It’s the Planet, Stupid!” Belinda Waymouth will look at heat records broken yesterday, how cork is being used to replace some plastics and the innovative ways the Dutch are dealing with arid conditions and the intrusion of salt water further and further inland.

Both victors in their Michigan primaries, President Biden and former President Trump also got handed messages. For President Biden, it’s the realization that progressives, young voters and Arab American Democrats are not happy. They took part in a movement to cast “uncommitted” protest votes. They are telling the President they will withhold support unless he changes his handling of the Israel’-Hamos conflict. Trump’s win came with another showing from a significant number of Republicans who voted against him. It doesn’t inspire confidence in a swing state that went for President Biden in 2020. Political analyst and presidential historian John Rothmann will be in to discuss it al. Actor and author Ed Begley, Jr. will stop by to discuss his book “ To the Temple of Tranquility... And Step On It!, it’s a memoir full of good humor and incredible stories about family, friends, addiction, failure, and redemption.

Trump is bleeding cash. He finally paid The New York Times $392k in legal fees. He was ordered to pay up after his failed lawsuit over the public sharing of his tax documents. Trump is also appealing his $454 million New York civil fraud judgment. He wants an appeals court to reverse the massive penalties that could clean out his cash reserves.
French President Emmanuel Macron wants his fellow European leaders to take action when it comes to helping Ukraine fight against Russia, rather than waiting for US aid. Macron won’t rule out sending ground troops to Ukraine, though he said no consensus has been reached on such a move yet.
Pulitzer Prize winning author and journalist David Cay Johnston will be on the show. We’ll ask him what he makes of all this.

Donald Trump came away with more than a win in the South Carolina Republican presidential primary; he also came away with a big question mark. Some polls had Trump up by more than 35 points but he only ended up beating Nikki Haley by 20 points. Yes, she lost in her home state, but she also took about 40% of the vote. One analyst says it indicates that primary voters don’t like Trump.
More fallout after the South Carolina primary:
The money tree is drying up for Nikki Haley. The network associated with billionaire Charles Koch won’t be putting its cash toward Haley and will instead focus on key Senate and House races where they say they may have more of an impact.

Though Donald Trump has called on her to step aside, Haley is reaffirming her commitment to stay in the presidential race past the primary in her home state this weekend. At a last minute press conference Tuesday, Haley said, “ I refuse to quit,” She also spoke directly about Trump, “many of the same politicians who now publicly embrace Trump, privately dread him. They know what a disaster he’s been and will continue to be for our party. They’re just too afraid to say it out loud. Well, I’m not afraid to say the hard truth out loud. I feel no need to kiss the ring. I have no fear of Trump’s retribution.” We will ask presidential historian, political analyst and former KGO talk show host John Rothmann about this and more. Kim is still at the beach, so today, Teresa Strasser joins the Thompson team in the news anchor seat.

Alexander Smirnov is accused of lying about President Biden and his son Hunter Biden's overseas business dealings. He’s charged with making false statements and creating a false or fictitious record for information he gave federal officials. Smirnov was arrested this week at the airport in Las Vegas. It’s been a big week for politics. Michael Shure is off today but Elex Michaelson from “The Issue is” is stepping in. He’ll talk about California’s US Senate race and more. Friday brings us a moment to put a microscope on human behavior that is so uniquely Florida. It’s Friday Fabulous Florida. John Daly joins Mark and the crew. The special council looking into some classified and top-secret documents found in President Biden’s possession will not be filing charges in the case. Robert Hur’s report on the matter came out yesterday. While he clears the president on one hand, with the other, he indicates the president is forgetful. In not charging President Biden, Hur reasoned it was because he would present to a jury as an elderly man “with a poor memory.” That may hurt in an election year where age is becoming an issue. Michael Shure will be along to talk politics. We will lighten things up with mega-9ers fan and Bay Área dude, Kevin Pollak. We'll have legal analysis today on this SCOTUS case with huge ramifications. Former federal prosecutor David Katz is here. Was the Colorado State Supreme Court acting properly when it removed Donald Trump’s name from the GOP Primary ballot? At issue: how the 14th Amendment’s “insurrectionist” clause is applied. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is not being impeached after all. Despite weeks of boasts from Republicans in Congress that they would send him a message, House Speaker Mike Johnson couldn’t muster up the votes. After chaos on the House floor, Republicans were one vote short. Then, a Republican bill to send U.S. aid to Israel died under bipartisan opposition. Add this to the fiasco over the border bill and you have a pretty embarrassing week for Congressional Republicans. The Nevada primary results are in and it turns out Republican voters want none of the candidates they’ve been offered. President Biden cleaned up on the Democrats ballot. We will talk about all of it with former KGO talkshow host and presidential historian and author, John Rothmann.

Donald Trump does not have immunity from charges he plotted to overturn his 2020 election defeat, a federal appeals court ruled, bringing the former U.S. president a step closer to an unprecedented criminal trial.
A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit rejected Trump’s claim that he cannot be prosecuted because the allegations relate to his official responsibilities as president.
"We cannot accept that the office of the Presidency places its former occupants above the law for all time thereafter," the unanimous panel wrote.Republicans appear ready to squash the Border-Ukraine Package, The very same package they insisted on. Some lawmakers (Sen. James Lankford) who worked hard negotiating this deal may now vote against it.

A new CNN poll sets President Donald Trump narrowly ahead of President Joe Biden should the two run against each other again. The survey has Trump over Biden 49-45%. Interestingly, while majorities of Democrats and Republicans are satisfied with their party’s candidates, a significant minority would prefer another option. It doesn’t look good for Trump’s D.C. trial to start in March. The case against Trump for allegedly plotting to overturn the results of the 2020 election is now off the public calendar for the federal court in D.C. It was anticipated that his claim of presidential immunity would delay proceedings. Tesla Is being sued by 25 California counties for allegedly getting rid of hazardous waste materials improperly at places they were not authorized to do so. A lawsuit was filed in San Joaquin County this week. It also alleges that Tesla didn’t label hazardous materials properly at its facilities or train employees how to handle it. So far, no comment from Tesla. Political reporter Michael Shure will be in to talk about it all. Albert has put together a stellar collection of stories from Florida. A dispute between Texas Republicans and the Biden administration over the Southern border has brought some calls for Texas to secede from the U.S. Though it may seem far fetched, GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley was asked about the idea. She said Texas has the right to secede from the federal union, but that they won’t. She once again affirmed that she believes in state's rights. What does the Constitution say about states rights to secede? The court-appointed monitor overseeing Trump’s businesses may be looking into a $48 Million Loan. It involves Trump and his Chicago Tower. Monsanto pays the price again for its cancer causing pesticide Roundup. A Pennsylvania jury decided the herbicide caused a 49 year-old man’s cancer and proceeded to slap Monsanto and its parent company Bayer with a $2.25 billion verdict.
The jury said Monsanto failed to warn about the dangers” of Roundup, which remains on store shelves across America.

Trump didn’t do well enough. That’s the gist of comments made by a Fox News political analyst. Trump has a problem attracting moderate Republicans and Independents and it showed in New Hampshire. It’s indicative of why Trump will likely lose in the general election. Former federal prosecutor David Katz will stop by to talk about an Alabama execution case - first ever to use nitrogen gas. We’ll ask him about A Maryland appeals court tossing out the murder conviction of the former US intelligence director's daughter and he will go over the latest abortion case pending before the Supreme Court.

President Biden won the New Hampshire Primary despite not being on the ballot. Biden supporters just wrote his name down. On the Republican side, you’d think after winning the New Hampshire primary, Trump would have been in a better mood, but during his victory speech, he called Nikki, Haley an imposter, and said he would get even with her. He was angry and full of threats. The current trajectory seems to point to a repeat of the last presidential election pitting Biden against Trump once again. Politico hosted the California senatorial debate last evening. The candidates vying to fill the late Senator Dianne Feinstein’s seat appeared on stage for the event. It was clear that Republican Steve Garvey was not ready for prime time compared to Democrats Adam Schiff, Katie Porter, and Barbara Lee. We will discuss!
New Hampshire voters have two Republicans to choose from with just Trump and Haley left standing in the race for the Republican nomination. President Joe Biden’s name is not on the ballot because of a dispute with the Democratic National Committee about the timing of this primary.

Early GOP presidential polls showed Ron DeSantis with a lead over Donald Trump. The tables quickly turned and despite having money and momentum just months ago, Ron DeSantis called it quits over the weekend and threw his support to Donald Trump.
DeSantis has blamed all the court cases against Trump for motivating Republicans to support the former president. Is that it? Or did something else cause the spectacular collapse of Ron DeSantis?
Now, it’s Nikki Haley standing alone to face Trump this week in the New Hampshire primary. When asked over the weekend whether President Biden and Trump are equally bad, Haley referenced investigations into both and talked about how we don’t need 80-year-olds in the White House.

The Patriot Freedom Project is being called into question by Congressional Democrats. They have concerns about this nonprofit group that gives financial support to defendants charged in the January 6th attack on the U.S. Capitol. At issue: whether the Freedom Project’s apparent support for Donald Trump's presidential campaign may violate federal tax law. The judge overseeing Trump’s federal criminal elections interference trial is suggesting that a delay of weeks or even months in the trial is possible. That’s because all the trial dates she set are still on pause as Trump’s attempt to get the case dismissed is pending before the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals. Journalist and political analyst Michael Shure will stop by to talk about all of it. Plus, we’ll get his take on what happened in Iowa and the upcoming New Hampshire primaries. The Supreme Court is considering how No much power Federal Agencies should legally have. ...and how young is too young to be tried as an adult? Mark and former federal prosecutor David Katz go in depth on these topics. We get our Thursday helping of “It’s the Planet Stupid” with Belinda Waymouth. We’ll consider the state of our environment. We’ll talk about Trump’s win in Iowa, how many Republicans didn’t vote and why he will have to change his approach going forward. The football game crushed the caucus on Monday night. It seems just like a lack of voters, there was also a general lack of interest overall. About 28.6 million viewers watched the the Tampa Bay Buccaneers thump the Philadelphia Eagles 32-9. Compare that to viewership of the coverage of the Iowa caucuses with around 4.67 million viewers across the major networks. It’s roughly half the viewership the caucuses attracted in 2020. A new election error was just reported from the 2020 presidential election in the state of Virginia. It’s not exactly what Trump wants to hear. We welcome Presidential historian and political analyst John Rothmann to talk politics. Author and San Francisco Police Sergeant Adam Plantinga will join us to talk about his new book. It’s a thriller that’s getting great reviews called, “The Ascent.” For years, he has been helping other crime novelists bring factual relevancy to their novels, and now we are excited to help Plantinga share his own debut novel.

Help is too much to hope for in Texas.
The Department of Homeland Security confirmed the deaths of three migrants, a woman and two children, and said Border Patrol agents were prevented from assisting them at the border by Texas state officials. This comes just days after Texas Governor Greg Abbott said the only reason they don’t shoot migrants is because the Biden Administration would press charges.
Republican governors in 15 states are saying no to federal food money for 8 million children. They don’t want to increase the welfare state, but these states have some of the highest rates of children living in poverty.

Bernie Sanders is sounding the alarm. He says Trump feels humiliated, is out for revenge and could very well destroy democracy.

A panel of federal judges is considering the matter of presidential immunity, but what about the court of public opinion? We’ll consider the results of a new poll on whether people think a president can pretty much do anything without fear of consequence or not. San Francisco is not in as good a place when it comes to jobs and the economy as New York City. That’s according to JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon. He says the types jobs available in San Francisco are not as diversified as NYC and that this is not a problem the city can tax its way out of. Just moments before Chris Christie dropped out of the race for the GOP nomination for president, he was caught up in a hot microphone incident. He said Nikki Haley is going to get smoked by Trump and that she isn’t up for this. He also referenced a call with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. At the Trump rally last evening, the former president said he was proud of his role in overturning Roe v. Wade. He took full credit for it. In addition, Trump also said that if he was the president and our allies in Europe needed our help, he would not come to their aid. Thursday brings our incredible legal expert David Katz to the show. We’ll ask him out the latest with the pending Trump cases and more. Belinda Waymouth will be in for “It’s the Planet, Stupid!” Norway is moving forward with deep-sea mining despite environmental concerns. In Thailand, the tiger population, dwindling in recent years, seems to be on the rise again.

Now that Nikki Haley has emerged as a real contender in some GOP polls, Trump is shifting away from swiping at Ron DeSantis and is honing in on Haley. His campaign launched its first TV ads critical of Haley’s position on Immigration. Trump is also bringing back the birther conspiracy. and saying that because Haley’s parents were not both born in the United States, she is not qualified to be president. Melania Trump’s mother is dead. Amalija Knavs was on her deathbed and Melania was tending to her, when Donald Trump held a large New Year’s party. Meanwhile at court, it’s not looking so hot for Trump‘s claim of presidential immunity. Three Appeals Court judges on the panel asked tough questions about whether presidents could use the military to kill their own rivals while they are in office. The nature of the questions, according to legal analysts, seems to indicate the judges will not side with Trump. We welcome John Rothmann to the program to discuss politics and more.

The U.S. Supreme Court will hear the Colorado ballot case after the state’s high court sided with a lower judge in ruling Trump ineligible for the 2024 GOP primary ballot due to the 14th Amendment Insurrection clause. President Trump threw down a warning - saying there will be “big trouble” if the Supreme Court does not rule in his favor!
Will the Supremes also decide whether Presidential Immunity is applicable to cover all Trump’s misdeeds?

A few months ago, Boeing put in a request for an exemption from key safety standards on the 737 MAX 7. It's the smallest of Boeing’s newest jets and as of yet uncertified. The move has sparked concerns because of recent problems with other Boeing Max airplanes. Case in point: the missing door plug that detached from an Alaska Airlines Boeing 737 Max 9 plane was found in an Oregon teacher's backyard over the weekend.
For those perplexed at how any American could support Trump, one of his former press secretaries may have an answer. Stephanie Grisham appeared on CNN Sunday. She claimed Trump knows he’s telling lies when he floats conspiracy theories, “but does it anyway because he also knows his base will believe anything he says. And that he used to tell her that when she was working for him.” She also said it’s easier for Trump voters to believe conspiracy theories than come to terms with who Trump really is.

You read that right! At least $7.8 million in total payments from 20 countries went to Trump-owned businesses and properties while Trump was a sitting US president. The largest total payment came from the Chinese government and its state-controlled entities which spent more than $5.5 million at properties owned by Donald Trump while he was in office. Unsealed documents related to accused sex-trafficker Jeffrey Epstein are now public. The documents include hundreds of names, some of them his accusers, others those of politicians or people he did business with. This is the first set of documents to be unsealed under a court order. More documents are expected in the coming weeks. The Trump legal team is looking to get some huge questions answered. As Trump’s name falls off at least two state ballots because of the insurrectionist clause in the Constitution, the Supreme Court is faced with deciding who determines whether someone is an insurrectionist and if that potential candidate is entitled to due process? They also will likely look at weather candidates for president are covered by that clause. Without answers, a CNN analysis says the 2024 election could descend into chaos. We will check in with our esteemed legal expert, David Katz, on these issues and more. America’s first large-scale offshore wind project is producing power for first time. Belinda Waymouth will consider the state of the environment with “It’s the Planet, Stupid!”

Gold Bar Bob Menendez and his wife are already facing charges involving allegedly conspiring illegally for the Egyptian government. Now, new details are being added to the indictments alleging he may have also acted on behalf of Qatar in exchange for gold bars. It’s not a good time to be a woman in Texas. A federal appeals court panel says a 1986 emergency care law can’t be used. It would have required doctors in Texas hospitals to provide abortions for women whose lives are at risk due to pregnancy. John Rothmann will be in to talk about these issues and more.

Two States are now saying no thank you to having an insurrectionist on the ballot. Colorado was the first to toss Trump off and now Maine has joined in. The California Secretary of State says the matter has to be taken to the courts before California would take this action. We are in new territory when it comes to how these decisions are being made. Michael Shure will stop by to talk about it. It’s Friday which means it’s not just any old day. It’s Friday Fabulous Florida. We will bring John Daly in along with Albert to rubberneck at Florida’s crazy. Republican presidential hopeful Nikki Haley shocked some voters yesterday at a campaign stop in New Hampshire. She was asked about the cause of the Civil War. Her answer was that the government was managing freedoms and telling people what they could and could not do. Then she tried to turn the question around on the voter who was flabbergasted that Haley couldn’t bring herself to mention slavery as the cause of the Civil War. We are a little more used to shocking behavior from Trump. It’s no surprise that he is pulling out more lies. As mentioned on the Mark Thompson show Tuesday and Wednesday, three US troops were injured in a drone attack in Iraq. Trump said one troop member died which is not true. He also said no one is talking about it, again not true. He rattled off a bundle of lies that went unchecked during an interview with a Trump friendly journalist. Colorado Republicans have officially appealed to the US Supreme Court to keep Trump‘s name on their 2024 primary ballot. Former federal prosecutor and great legal mind. David Katz will help us sort it all out. Mark checks in with a good friend of the show, Shadoe Stevens. US troops in the Middle East are facing new dangers. Three American service members were injured in a drone attack in Iraq. Threats to commercial shipping in the area are also putting US troops at risk. A CNN report indicates there are rising concerns that the Israel/Hamas war in Gaza could grow into a larger regional conflict. Is it party over for Vivek Ramaswamy? His campaign is cutting back spending on TV ads in some important states. He says TV ad spending is for candidates with a low IQ, but despite the tough facade, it could signal trouble in Vivek-land. The judges say he’s disqualified from being president because of the 14th Amendment clause banning a person from state or federal office who took an oath to uphold the U.S. Constitution but “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” or gave “aid or comfort to insurrectionists. The ruling is stayed until January 4th to give Trump time to appeal. It is an unprecedented ruling and one deserving of our very first Mark Thompson show All-Star panel of analysts. Former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley is rising in GOP primary polling and garnering interest as a good alternative to Donald Trump. New polling in New Hampshire done by CBS News/YouGov collected data from potential Republican primary voters. The poll shows 29 percent said they’d vote for Haley compared to 44 percent who said they would for Trump. However, her numbers are rising and if other candidates drop out, she could be a real threat. Already, the Trump campaign is spending money on Haley attack ads. Is it a sign they’re running scared.
Texas is sending the police to arrest migrants coming into the United States illegally. Is the crisis so severe that border patrol agents need extra help?

Dueling columnists offer vastly different predictions of the 2024 presidential election. Robert Kagan, in the Washington Post, says It’s inevitable that Donald Trump will be elected once again. He argues that there is too much money to be made off of Trump. Glynn Wilson, with The New American Journal, disagrees. He says he predicted Trump’s win in 2016, his loss in 2020 and that there is no way Americans would select Trump in 2024 or at any other time. He predicts Trump will be facing jail time next year, and Americans will turn away from him.

There didn’t seem to be many rules, and a time clock was not rigidly followed. The result for last night’s debate between governors Gavin Newsom and Ron DeSantis was a chaotic, stressful, zoo-like atmosphere where they both tried to talk over each other. Questions asked by Sean Hannity were based on a series of graphs and charts, as if the information presented was factual. Answering questions from that starting point was difficult, especially for Newsom, since it’s unclear if Fox can be trusted to get facts straight. According to Politico, Florida may not have a presidential primary election for Democrats this cycle. The state party leaders submitted only President Joe Biden’s name as a candidate up for the nomination leaving his challenger, Congressman Dean Phillips. out in the cold. Now, Phillips is threatening to sue. We will check in with Michael Shure to see what he thinks of it all. The 100 year old former US secretary of state and national security adviser died at his Connecticut home yesterday. Kentucky’s Governor declared a state of emergency after a train derailed, taking 16 cars off the tracks, and sparking a molten sulphur fire. The town of Livingston was evacuated and it’s residents were fed Thanksgiving dinner by CVX rail company. Two of the train cars carried molten sulphur. Off to kiss the ring! House Speaker Mike Johnson went to Mar-a-Lago last night to meet with Donald Trump. Speaker Johnson is the highest ranking Republican to endorse Trump’s candidacy.
An 8th Circuit Court of Appeals panel comprised of conservative judges slapped the teeth out of the Voting Rights Act. The panel ruled that private individuals or groups cannot bring suit under the Voting Rights Act. That removes the most common way the law is enforced.

The Texas Board of Education rejected seven proposed 8th grade science textbooks because of the way the books presented the climate crisis.
The Republican majority on the board felt the textbooks had too much information about the climate crisis, were published by companies with environmentally friendly policies or didn’t highlight fossil fuel in a positive way (bad for the oil rich Texas economy). On top of that, the science books had teachings about evolution but not creationism. Maybe that’s because science isn’t story telling hour.
Remember the alleged tapes of Trump in a Russian hotel room paying hookers to urinate on each other? Well, Trump now says he hated telling Melania about the accusations but right away, she didn’t believe any of it! We’ll tell you why.

Senator Joe Manchin, the moderate Democrat from West Virginia, has a warning for America. As he announced his decision not to run for reelection in 2024, he said that if Donald Trump is sent back to the White House in next year’s presidential election “he will destroy democracy in America”. Manchin said that it would be “dangerous” if the American people gave Trump a second term because he’d use the opportunity not merely to shake up the political establishment as he did first time round, but to break it.
There he goes, ranting and raving again! Just hours after an appeals court paused the gag order he was under, Trump blasted the judge overseeing his civil fraud trial. Trump called a court staffer a "Trump Hating Clerk," who is "politically biased and out of control." The pause on the gag order continues until at least November 27th, when a full panel of judges will consider it.

Democrats took some wins yesterday in key elections around the country. Notably, voters approved an Ohio ballot measure to lock abortion rights into the state constitution. It looks like they’ve legalized recreational marijuana too. Kentucky voters are keeping Democratic Governor Andy Beshear and Democrats collected seats in the Virginia legislature. Republicans did win in Mississippi, where Governor Tate Reeves will stay on. Is that an indicator of where the 2024 Presidential election is headed? We will talk to John Rothmann about it. Sam Bankman-Fried, the former CEO of FTX is facing 115 years in prison when he’s sentenced in March. He was convicted of all seven counts against him in a fraud trial. Does this send a message to the cryptocurrency industry or is this basic fraud that could have happened in any sector? Michael Hiltzik with the LA Times will unravel it. Donald Trump lashed out at the judge in his New York fraud trial repeatedly. He might’ve miscalculated though, when admitting he influenced the valuation of several of his properties. He also admitted some of those values were too high or too low. It seems like he implicated himself in real estate fraud! At one point, the judge asked Trump’s attornies to control their client and told Trump his courtroom is a not a campaign rally!

As if she doesn’t have a stable of nannies, a gazillion dollars with which to hire a sitter or any means to procure child care, Ivanka Trump once again tried to get out of testifying in the NY Civil Fraud trial against members of her family and the family business. This time she argued that having kids who go to school make weekdays an undue burden for her. Her request was denied. Former President Trump is still trying to get the gag order imposed by the judge in his federal election subversion case in DC lifted. He wants it removed for 7 days while he appeals to the US Supreme Court. Sam Bankman-Fried looked devastated yesterday when he was found guilty of seven counts of fraud in connection with his cryptocurrency exchange FTX. The jurors needed only about 4 hours or so to find the crypto billionaire guilty of fraud and conspiracy. The sentencing hearing is set for March. Donald Trump Jr. will be back on the witness stand today testifying in the NY civil fraud trial against several Trumps and the Trump Organization. Junior spent an hour and a half on the stand yesterday. He said he was never involved in the preparation of his father’s financial statements – even after he became trustee for Donald Trump’s revocable trust. When presented with a statement the judge already ruled fraudulent, Trump, Jr. claimed he had nothing to do with it and said, “The accountants worked on it, that’s what we pay them for.” He also said he doesn’t really remember ever working on the document with anyone.
Former federal prosecutor David Katz will be in today to discuss it all.

A warning from FBI Director Christopher Wray came yesterday at a Senate hearing. Wray says antisemitism is reaching “historic levels” in the United States. Wray said “the Jewish community is targeted by terrorists across the spectrum” including homegrown violent extremists, foreign terrorist organizations, and domestic violent extremists. Erwin Chemerinksy, dean of the UC Berkeley School of Law, says anti-Semitic speech and actions are unlike anything he’s seen on campus before. Meanwhile, Israeli forces carried out an air strike on a large refugee camp in northern Gaza. They said the action successfully targeted a top Hamas commander responsible for the October 7th attack on Israel. Hamas denies it. Doctors Without Borders calls the strike horrifying. Over the weekend, Israel's military exchanged gunfire with Hamas and hit targets in northern Gaza in an expanded ground operation. According to the Palestinian Health Ministry, the number of people killed during Israeli strikes on Gaza since October 7th is now nearly 8,000. It’s unclear if that number is verified by other sources. Meanwhile, Jewish people around the world are feeling the frustration over the conflict spill over. Hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists stormed a Russian airport, angrily kicking at doors and rushing onto a tarmac where a plane had just arrived from Israel. After careful reconsideration, the federal judge overseeing Donald Trump’s 2020 election interference case is reinstating a gag order. That means Trump will have to hush up when it comes to bad mouthing prosecutors, court staff and any potential witnesses. Fundraising is a big role for the House Speaker in the 2024 election cycle and it’s not looking like new Speaker Mike Johnson has had a lot of success in that department. Since his Congressional career started in 2017, Speaker Johnson has only raised $5.5 million dollars. Compare that to Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s nearly $500 million during the 2022 campaign and Uh oh! Ivanka Trump really doesn’t want to testify against her dad in his civil trial in New York. Donald Trump, and the Trump Organization have already been found liable for fraud, but how much it will cost them is still to be determined. Ivanka wants the court to toss New York Attorney General Letitia James subpoena for her to take the stand. But court has determined she must testify. Worried about President Biden’s age and approval ratings, a Democratic congressman is throwing his hat into the presidential race. Today, Minnesota Representative Dean Phillips is expected to officially announce that he will challenge President Biden in the Democratic primary. While he says President Biden has done a great job for the country, he tells CBS, “I will not sit still, I will not be quiet in the face of numbers that are so clearly saying that we’re going to be facing an emergency next November.” We will talk to Jim Avila & Michael Shure about whether the challenge is a serious problem for Democrats or just an annoyance. We are back to the United States of Guns! In Lewiston, Maine, authorities are looking for a 40 year old firearms instructor trained by the military who was recently committed to a mental facility. Robert Card is a person of interest in the killings of at least 18 people and the wounding of as many as 13 more at a bar and a bowling alley. Perhaps unrelated but odd in the same town, early yesterday, officers stopped a vehicle for several traffic violations. The 17 year old unlicensed driver was allegedly in possession of a loaded firearm with numerous loaded magazines, including a high capacity drum magazine. The teen was supposed to be on house arrest stemming from a shooting several months ago. In the last couple of days, two of Trump’s former attorneys, Kenneth Chesbro and Sidney Powell, have accepted plea deals in the Georgia state election interference case in exchange for their testimony. Yesterday, former Trump attorney and fixer Michael Cohen took the stand in Trump’s New York fraud case. Cohen seems to almost be enjoying the opportunity to lay out the truth on Trump.

A plea deal in the Georgia election subversion case, a flip-flop in loyalty and now the rats are scurrying away from Sidney Powell. Trump is now saying Powell was “never” his attorney. He hopped on his Truth Social platform to write,
“ MS. POWELL WAS NOT MY ATTORNEY, AND NEVER WAS. In fact, she would have been conflicted,”
Fact: Powell was briefly an official member of Trump’s legal team in 2020, and he kept in contact with her on election-related issues even after she left his campaign.
Air strikes continue to hit Gaza. Israel will not agree to a ceasefire. Meanwhile humanitarian aid was finally allowed through the Rafah border crossing with Gaza/Egypt, 20 trucks Saturday and 15 Sunday. Palestinian Crossing Authority officials say the trucks brought "food and medicines" for Gaza.

Three days of whining on the courthouse steps, a limited gag order and earning the ire of the judge was enough to send Trump running from a New York courthouse. The trial is only beginning and he’s checking out already! It’s okay though. The judge can take large portions of Trump’s money whether he’s there to see it happen or not.
Deals are being made in Georgia’s election interference case. Some defendants accused of messing with election machines are getting deals in exchange for testimony against higher profile defendants.

The minute he arrived outside the courthouse, he started disparaging New York Attorney General Letitia James, saying she’s a terrible person and he called the judge, Arthur F. Engoron “rogue” accusing them both of being criminals. In this case, it’s the judge who will decide the outcome. The trial, it seems, will give Trump the chance to give daily campaign speeches from the courthouse steps. California Governor Gavin Newsom is moving fast to appoint a replacement for the late Senator Diane Feinstein. Today he is expected to announce the appointment of Laphonza Butler. She is the president of EMILY’s List, an organization focused on electing Democratic women who support abortion rights. While the Governor said he’d appoint a caretaker who would not run for the seat, Butler’s appointment is said to come with no such strings attached. Last night, US Attorney General Merrick Garland appeared on CBS’ 60 minutes. When asked about the reasons he chose the law and why Democracy is important to him, Garland got choked up. Politico reports Ginni Thomas and Leonard Leo wanted to be the leaders of a conservative movement that funded a billion-dollar network of tax-exempt charities and social welfare organizations to allegedly benefit their friends and themselves.
Former Trump, Chief of Staff Mark Meadows has been trying to get his trial moved from Georgia state court to federal court. He is now asking a judge to pause the order denying the move to federal court. Why? Apparently Meadows is afraid that he could be convicted and incarcerated before an appeal to this case is even heard. We’ll talk to Gil Gross about these stories and the temporary ban on openly carrying guns in Albequerque, New Mexico.

Something interesting happened at the disbarment hearing for former Trump lawyer John Eastman. He cited confidentiality in regards to his client, Trump, while refusing to answer questions about an alleged plot to have Senator Chuck Grassley preside over the certification of the votes on January 6th instead of former Vice President Mike Pence. Grassley publicly stated he didn’t expect Pence to be there and that he would be over seeing the proceedings. But Pence did show up. Was it another Trump plot to steal the election dashed? Hurricane Idalia is taking aim at Florida and it's brutal. Idalia is expected to be a rapid intensification hurricane, picking up steam over the Gulf of Mexico, which has had record warm water. Water temperatures off southern Florida were measured at 100 degrees Fahrenheit in some areas this summer. Because of that, Idalia could set a record for her intensification rate. She will likely to turn angry very fast bringing heavy rain, punishing winds, storm surges and real danger. Add to this that where Idalia is headed is unprecedented. She’s expected to pummel Apalachee Bay in the Big Bend area where Florida’s panhandle meets its peninsula. Since records were kept starting in 1851, the only major hurricanes in this area have been Hurricane Easy in 1950 and the 1896 Cedar Keys Hurricane. Forecasters say Idalia will be life-altering for communities in the area with storm surges in the 10- to 15-foot range. The federal trial for former President Donald Trump is set for March 4th of 2024. This day was the presidential inauguration day for most of America’s history. We have heard that poll workers received death threats during the 2020 election so it may come as no surprise that it appears Trumpers are at it again. This time, the federal judge overseeing the Trump election interference case in Washington DC is getting threatened by Trump supporters. According to the Huffington Post, here is the voicemail a Texas woman left for U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan:
“If Trump doesn’t get elected in 2024, we are coming to kill you.”
Multiple sources are reporting that Arizona may be the next state to file some type of case against former President Trump in connection with tampering with their election process. We’ll talk about it with former federal prosecutor David Katz.

The call to expand the Supreme Court has been gaining momentum in recent months, as Democrats have become increasingly frustrated with the court's rulings. In addition to California, lawmakers in New York and Illinois have also called for expanding the court. It remains to be seen whether Congress will take action to expand the court, but the call is likely to continue to gain support in the wake of the Supreme Court's recent decisions.

A former associate of Rudy Giuliani, Noelle Dunphy, has filed a lawsuit against him alleging sexual assault, harassment, wage theft, and other misconduct.
The lawsuit alleges that Giuliani offered to sell pardons for $2 million each to people who were convicted of crimes related to the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
The lawsuit is also significant because it comes at a time when Giuliani is already facing a number of legal challenges. Some Republicans believe that Trump and DeSantis would be a formidable team. They argue that Trump's charisma and DeSantis's popularity would be a winning combination. They also believe that the two men are ideologically aligned and would be able to work together effectively.
As to SCOTUS:
A nearly $2 million sale of property co-owned by Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch to a prominent law firm executive in 2017 is raising new questions about the lax ethics reporting requirements for Supreme Court justices.
Property records from Grand County, Colorado, show that the Walden Group LLC – a limited-liability company in which Gorsuch was a partner – sold a 40-acre property on the Colorado River to Brian Duffy, chief executive officer of the prominent law firm Greenberg Traurig.
One of the most serious ongoing accusations is that Justice Gorsuch has used his position on the court to benefit his wife as well, who is a lobbyist. According to reports, Justice Gorsuch has allowed his wife to use his office to meet with government officials and to lobby for her clients. This is a clear conflict of interest, and it raises serious questions about Justice Gorsuch's ability to remain impartial on the court.
Other justices have also been accused of taking material benefits. Justice Clarence Thomas has been accused of accepting lavish gifts from a wealthy donor. Justice Samuel Alito has been accused of using his position on the court to benefit his son, who is a lawyer.
