The original director of the Harry Potter franchise, Chris Columbus, had a change of plans regarding his involvement in the series. Chris Columbus originally signed on to direct all of the Harry Potter movies. However, he realized that by doing so, he would miss out on seeing his children grow up, and decided to pass on directing the subsequent movies. He remained on board for this movie as a producer but after shooting wrapped, he ultimately decided to end his involvement with the Harry Potter film franchise. It's always interesting to see how different directors can bring their own unique vision to the same story, and it's clear that the series would not have been the same without Chris Columbus' contributions.
