Rabbi Noah is joined by Cantor Sarah and Kol Dorot Educator Anat Katzir to get excited for Chanukah! We compare latke plans, Cantor Sarah sings a song, and we learn that Anat uses a totally different (Israeli) melody for the candle blessings.
Each of us shares a favorite Jewish text on the theme of "light" to welcome the Festival of Lights.
From Kol Dorot, we wish everyone a warm and joyful Chanukah and a very healthy and happy new calendar year!

Thanksgiving is an almost-Jewish holiday. It's a perfect fit with Jewish culture and values. It's a chance for Jews to share a festival and rituals with all our American neighbors.
But Rabbi Noah asks: Is something missing? When we ask, "What are we thankful for?" should we also ask, "Who or what are we thankful TO?"

Music is a key part of synagogue life—we sing most of our prayers, teach songs in Religious School, make tons of songsheets, etc. But all those Jewish songs were written by someone, and until recently, just about every synagogue used music without permission and without compensating anyone.
In this episode, Rabbi Noah and Cantor Sarah discuss a new program that allows Kol Dorot to legally license the music we use and to compensate the copyright owners.
This "administrative" issue turns out to be a great example of putting our Jewish ethics into practice in how our community operates.

The voting results are in, but there's a lot of maneuvering and negotiating ahead to choose a Prime Minister and a governing coalition in Knesset. Rabbi Noah, Rabbi David Widzer, and KD Educator Anat Katzir get into the results and what they say about Israel's future.
