To get ready for TTPD dropping this Friday (!!!!) we decided to cover two songs with literary references: Invisible String and Tolerate It. We loved talking about these songs, and we hope you enjoy listening to us discussing them!
To celebrate Cat's birthday, we decided to mix things up and cover one of our favorite non-Taylor albums of all time: Decide by Djo. We've been planning this for months (longtime listeners will know we mention Djo almost every episode), and got so excited that End of Beginnings went viral a few weeks ago! Enjoy our journey through this incredibly well thought out album that we both love so much.
This week we decided to explore two of Taylor's songs about mental illness: This Is Me Trying and The Archer.
Light content warning for discussions of mental illness and addiction. You can watch the full clip of Abby and Silvia talking here: https://youtu.be/J9mTFgVisT4
This week we covered two songs that we love that have to do with driving (and crashing): Getaway Car and Out of the Woods.
It’s our twenty-second episode, so of course we had to do some Swiftie math and cover 22 and Fifteen. This was a fun episode as we dove into what we were like at 15 and 22 and also discovered how horrifying owls are without feathers. Enjoy!
This week we wanted to talk all things Tortured Poets Department before we actually know anything about the album! Enjoy our guesses about what might be on the album. We can’t wait to find out what we’re right and wrong about!
In honor of Taylor Lautner’s birthday, we decided to cover two songs that have to do with him: Back to December and I Can See You. We love an unproblematic ex! We are so excited to have musician Sarah Gross on the podcast this week! She has been described as “queer cowboy Taylor Swift” and has written some incredible songs (our favs are Deep End and Arizona). We talked with her about how Taylor has impacted the music industry from her unique songwriting to her ability to connect with fans to her re-recordings. Sign up for Sarah’s monthly email list and find Sarah on Instagram + TikTok + Facebook + YouTube + X
Welcome to the new podcast set! In honor of Cat’s move, we decided to do two songs about moving: Never Grow Up and Welcome to New York. We get a little weepy this week and even manage to make WTNY emo (we know, we were surprised too).
For the final episode recorded on our first podcast set, we decided to work on emptying Cat’s liquor cabinet to make it easier for her to move next week 🫶🏻 To make the drinking on theme and not just a fun Saturday night, we chose two Taylor songs that mention drinking: Nothing New and Maroon. Cat’s poem “Wrinkles in the Year of the Barbie Movie” - https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8sY4Xbr/
No one asked us to die on these hills, but honestly the view is great so why not choose here to die: It’s Nice to have a Friend and Midnight Rain.
Engineers WISH they could construct bridges as iconic and flawless as the ones in these songs: Cruel Summer and Death by a Thousand Cuts. Diving into these songs made us realize they're even more amazing that we originally thought if that was even possible. Also, please excuse our audio problems in the ten minutes or so of the episode, we had a recording issue!
Happy 2024! We’re kicking off the new year with a few fitting songs: Begin Again and New Years Day. Watch the behind the scenes of the rep secret sessions here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0sMLapsao8
To finish out 2023, we decided to do a few different Taylor Swift rankings and share our results! You can find the song sorter/ranking here: https://jesseepinkman.tumblr.com/tswiftsong and the link to the mathematical ranking is in @lizwizdom on TikTok’s bio! Thank you again for listening this year, it’s meant the world to us and we can’t wait to see what 2024 will bring ✨
This week we covered the two songs that appeared on Glee: Mean and Mine. We also have our first ever guests on the pod this week! It was so much fun having Andrew and Allison from Gleek of the Week on this week to talk about Glee, Taylor Swift, and everything else we ended up discussing on our many tangents. Head over to our YouTube channel to see the non-abridged version of our conversation with them! Check out Gleek of the Week: https://beacons.ai/gleekoftheweekpod/
We asked a few weeks ago what songs you wanted us to cover, and these two were highly requested! So this week we’re covering two very interconnected songs: Dear John and Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve. Enjoy! Link to the Speak Now Tour’s Dear John performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4FQCpSg65jU
It’s December and we’re getting in the spirit with two of Taylor’s songs about this time of year: ‘Tis the Damn Season and Christmas Tree Farm! And while these two songs may be about the same time of year, they definitely have… very different vibes. Enjoy!
This week we decided to throw it back with two Taylor songs that remind us of sleepovers when we were kids: I Knew You Were Trouble and Enchanted! These songs make us think of being teenagers, gossiping about our crushes, and pretending like we understood what it was like to be in love.
Well, this episode didn’t stay lost for long! We talked about this a few weeks ago, but we had an issue with Cat’s mic about halfway through the episode and had to switch to camera audio. Sorry for the slightly worse audio, it will be better again next week! In this episode, originally recorded for Halloween, we chose two murder-y songs to get in the spirit. The Halloween decorations are out of Cat’s apartment by now, rest assured.
We've been covering a lot of sad songs lately, so we wanted to be a little more lighthearted this week and cover the songs that we first remember loving from Taylor: Our Song for Cat and You Belong With Me for Abby!
Happy 1989 (Taylor’s Version) release week! We’re celebrating by diving into our favorite vault tracks off of the album: Say Don’t Go and Is It Over Now?
In honor of the 1 year anniversary of Midnights, we broke into a bottle of cheap ass screw top rose and talked about some of our favorite Midnights tracks: Bejeweled ✨ and Mastermind ♟️
This week we dove into the Taylor Swift songs that inspired our tattoos and go into why we love these Taylor songs enough to permanently tattoo references to them on us.
This week, Abby and Cat dive into the lore and lyrics of two amazing breakup songs from Taylor Swift: Forever and Always from Fearless and You’re Losing Me from Midnights (Til Dawn Edition).
