A grand estate built around a house built in 1693, and destroyed by fire in 1977 is said to be the haunt of shadowy figures belonging to those who knew the building so well in life. The stable block, added in 1811, is one of the more active areas. Why this is the case we’ll likely never know.
Phantom lights float around the house, and whispering is heard deep in the woodland. Dogs howl and bark within the grounds in the dead of night, and can be heard for miles around.

A popular holiday park built around a 13th century castle. In 1839 work commenced to build a tunnel over two miles long beneath the streets of Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the north east of England, this was to get coal to the River Tyne. In later years it would provide shelter to the people of the city during German bombing raids during World War 2. It was then left empty, abandoned, and forgotten, before the damp, dark, eerie tunnel was reopened as a historic visitor attraction in more recent years.
Since reopening however, what it clear is that the tunnel wasn’t as empty as it first seemed, as the ghosts of the past remained underground. Waiting. Shadows are seen, talking is heard, and even a deep, unmistakable growl. But what would be lying in wait for me, when I led my small team into this unwelcoming Victoria Tunnel after dark? A 15th century castle built on the site of a 1st century fort, is the haunt of a whole host of ghosts that were linked to this place in life, and have not been able to move on in death. A nursemaid who was accidently responsible for the death of the owner of the castle’s child was punished by her own life being taken, the ghost of a one-eyed woman, and the tormented soul of the treacherous nephew of the castle’s chief who was left to die of thirst in the dungeon and more, all remain here in perpetuity.

A disused water tower which some claim may now be used as a secret government base, built atop a hill which was a site of importance to the pagans and the Vikings, and may even be the burial site of the most famous of all of the Vikings who ruled Jorvik. This little known site in haunted York, has seen reports of shadowy figures and disembodied footsteps.

In 1379 a prisoner made their final journey, the longest journey he would ever make, as his destination was the gallows, where, before a crowd could barely wait to see his dangle by his neck until dead. In 1801 these gallows claimed it’s final victim, and in the 422 years in between hundreds of condemned met their end here, including the most famous highwayman that there ever was.
The site where the gallows once stood appears to have been stained by the extreme death and suffering that occurred here, which manifests itself in people being touched by unseen hands, and disembodied voices carried on the breeze.

A grand estate built around a house built in 1693, and destroyed by fire in 1977 is said to be the haunt of shadowy figures belonging to those who knew the building so well in life. The stable block, added in 1811, is one of the more active areas. Why this is the case we’ll likely never know.
Phantom lights float around the house, and whispering is heard deep in the woodland. Dogs howl and bark within the grounds in the dead of night, and can be heard for miles around.

A popular holiday park built around a 13th century castle. This is not your typical location for a paranormal investigation, a holiday park full of luxury caravans and holiday makers spending their weekends boating on the lake, or playing on the arcades and fruit machines. What they’re all blissfully unaware of however is the darker side of this particular holiday park. The ghosts and ghouls that roam the older parts. This is an enhanced version of episode 10 with actual audio from the investigation.
In 1985 a tunnel was found by a Scottish international rugby player, that led to an enormous underground complex, that had once been a thriving, lawless, city beneath Edinburgh.
This is a very paranormally active place indeed, with one malevolent phantom in particular being very unappreciative of the visitors who come here daily on tours.
I investigated this location a decade ago, and encountered this foul-mouthed, dangerous entity for myself, in what quickly escalated into the most dangerous investigation I had ever led.

An impressive castle, which dates back to the early 13th century, has hosted royals and was the sight of a battle. This is a place of myths, legend, curses, and no fewer than nine ghosts. These include the tragic phantom of a woman cruelly left to die by her husband for failing to give him a son, a broken hearted trumpeter, a playful little girl, and the malevolent shade of a murderer hanged in the early 19th century.

A popular railway museum, which opened in 1975, is said to be the haunt of a number of ghosts. Paul, a violent entity who lurks in the ladies toilets, George who remains within the Travelling Post Office, and still takes huge pride in his work, many years following his passing, a tall man in a top hat, a mischievous spirit who likes to mess up the gift shop after dark, the archives has been the scene of terrifying possessions, and a haunted train carriage which was once used as a mobile brother by the Nazis during the second world war.
Would I encounter any of these phantoms when my team and I joined another group to investigate this building after dark?

This building has bore witness to all manner of horrors, including the death of a small unloved child who was locked in a cupboard as a punishment, and forgotten about, only to be found dead later. Today knocking, banging, screaming, and sobbing is heard from within cupboards in that area, which is nicknamed the Naughty Boys Corridor.
It’s stood empty and abandoned for over 25 years, and has a growing reputation which has seen it regularly named in top 10 lists in recent years of the most haunted places to be found in the UK.
Full apparitions, and shadowy figures are seen all too often here and send people screaming in terror. Old wheelchairs and gurneys, remnants of the building’s past, move all on their own. People have reported the feeling of being pushed down and feeling sick and left physically shaking in some areas of this location. Whereas others have simply broken down in floods of tears, feeling utter despair and sadness for no apparent reason.

A historic inn, in a remote, beautiful location is claimed to be not only the oldest pub in Wales, but the most haunted. This building is said to have been where 182 men, women, and children were trialed and sentenced to death, and their execution was carried out right here, within these centuries old stone walls. There is all manner of paranormal phenomena reported here, attributed to a friendly former barmaid who can be found in one of the bedrooms, a helpful vicar, then there is are more sinister phantoms of a judge and a hangman. A 12th century castle, which has now stood alone, empty, and unused for over 350 years. In a remote valley in the wild’s of Northumberland this ancient fortress has seen reports of dark shadowy figures moving swiftly around the barely standing stonework. Strange glowing lights are seen moving around the ruin, and footsteps are heard walking on floorboards above visitor’s heads, despite there having been no floorboards there for centuries.

Constructed upon a street with Roman origins, number 35 Stonegate was built in 1482 and has a fascinating history having been a publishing house, a psychic museum, a haunted house offering self-led tours and overnight paranormal investigations, and now it’s a clothes shop. Believed to be home to 14 spirits, this is one of the most haunted places in York, and one of the phantoms that call this place home is believed to be very, very dangerous indeed.

A monument to murder stands high above the village of Elsdon, in the remote moorlands of Northumberland. This stands as a reminder of a vicious murder which occurred in 1791, when a defenceless old lady was killed by three criminals who wanted to steal her wares to make some easy money. They were caught, and executed, and one of them had his body hung in a gibbet cage as a warning to others. It’s believed that his ghost wanders the area where his body was picked clean by the wildlife, before his bones were unceremoniously thrown away.

The most notorious incarnation of the Hellfire Club is undoubtedly that of Sir Francis Dashwood. Shrouded in mystery and superstition and rumours of orgies, satanic worship and human sacrifices. This club met in secret in a cave system that lay 300 metres below a 14th century church, overlooking West Wycombe, and it was here that these unholy acts took place. The club may be long gone, but the ghosts remain, with reports of all manner of terrifying paranormal phenomena.

Overlooking Dublin and its surroundings, upon the crest of 1250 foot Hill, surrounded by dense woodland sits an ominous ruin made from the stone of a 5000-year-old grave. This structure is steeped in rumour of satanic worship and human and animal sacrifice. A club, feared by locals met here regularly in the 18th century and indulged in all manner of sordid behaviour.
This has left its mark on the isolated old hunting lodge, which is now considered one of the most haunted locations anywhere on the Emerald Isle.

Situated on the River Ouse, this magnificent building which dates from 1445 has played host to a cast of famous characters from the history of Britain including notable royals and criminals. It’s long and colourful history has left left its mark in the form of the many ghosts and ghouls said to stalk it’s impressive corridors and chambers. This includes phantom monks, voices calling out in empty rooms, and a large shadowy man, who’s heavy footsteps are a sure sign of his presence.
I investigated this location in 2011 while writing my book Ghosts of York. Find out exactly what happened on that chilly October evening?

One of the most haunted houses in America, if not the world, this previously unassuming property was the scene of a mass murder back in November of 1974, which appears to have kickstarted some absolutely horrifying paranormal activity, including slime oozing from the walls, family members levitating in their bed, and a demonic red-eyed pig monster. After just 28 days the family fled their new home and the house on Ocean Avenue, Long Island has lived in infamy ever since.

Built on foundations dating back to the Roman occupation of Britain, this castle, constructed in 1258, has been the focus of studies for 30 years, due to the incredible frequency of the paranormal occurrences. Occurrences including babies crying, children singing, and shadowy figures. An experienced team of paranormal investigators came to the castle to conduct an investigation, but no sooner had their ghost hunt begun, the phantoms within the Tapestry Room, the most active room in this 800 year old fortress, sent them fleeing into the wilderness of the Lake District as they feared for their lives.

Below Edinburgh’s famous Royal Mile lies a historic close that was once a thriving community in it’s own right, open to the skies above, and named, unusually for the 17th century for a woman who was the most successful businesswoman here until her death in 1644. The building of the Royal Exchange in the 18th century spelled the end for this place, and it would be, eventually, buried beneath the city streets, lost and unused. The close became shrouded in myths and urban legends; with terrifying tales of the ghosts that remain at the close they knew so well in life.
When it was opened as a tourist attraction in 2003, it found new levels of infamy, and is now regarded as one of the most haunted places, in an incredibly haunted city.
I investigated this location in 2012 while writing my book Ghosts of Edinburgh. Find out exactly what happened on that dark October evening, as tonight. join me as we once again venture below the streets of Edinburgh.

Christmas is a wonderous time for those people who celebrate it, where families and friends get together and exchange presents, watch Christmas movies, play games, and gorge themselves silly on enormous roast dinners. The only Victorian era prison still standing in the city of Belfast in Northern Ireland, was once known as Europe’s Alcatraz. Dating from 1845, this was a place of incarceration and execution. It closed in 1996 and ever since visitors have reported all manner of paranormal occurrences such as things moving of their own accord, voices from empty cells, and ghosts have been seen and photographed. It is considered one of the most haunted placed in this capital city, but is it worthy of such a reputation?

In a remote location, high above the North Sea, this castle has over 700 years of history, a turbulent past which has left it as a ruinous reminder of the violence and bloodshed that Northumberland has witnessed. This castle is said to be home to a number of spirits that were tied to the building in life, and most famously is the setting of a famous Northumbrian legend of a knight’s quest to save a maiden in distress.

One of London’s best-known cemeteries, in fact it’s considered one of London’s magnificent seven Victorian graveyards. Dating back to 1839, there are believed to be around 170,000 bodies buried beneath the ground here. This graveyard has earned a frightning reputation in more recent years with stories of men clad in all black conducting dark rituals here. Spooks and specters flit about quickly between the 53,000 gravestones, and red eyed demons call this place home. Then most famously of all is the vampire that preys on its victims here, in England’s capital.

Best known for its link to the witch trials of 1612, which saw eight women and two men executed by hanging for witchcraft. Ever since this particular location in Lancashire has been linked to paranormal occurrences blamed for the witches who were accused and convicted of practising their dark arts right here.
Every Halloween ghost hunters flock to this location, for it has been said by many to be one of, if not the, most haunted place in the world.

In 1867, a psychiatric hospital was opened in Victoria, Australia, and for the next 126 years it would carry out horrendous medical procedures, without consent, or anesthetic.
13,000 died at Aradale, and today there are countless reports of visitors being bitten and scratched by unseen assailants, and disembodied screams and cries are heard along the empty corridors. This location has a terrifying reputation, but is it earned?

In 1985 a tunnel was found by a Scottish international rugby player, that led to an enormous underground complex, that had once been a thriving, lawless, city beneath Edinburgh.
This is a very paranormally active place indeed, with one malevolent phantom in particular being very unappreciative of the visitors who come here daily on tours.
I investigated this location a decade ago, and encountered this foul-mouthed, dangerous entity for myself, in what quickly escalated into the most dangerous investigation I had ever led.
