Native to Ceylon, which is modern day Sri Lanka... in the Malay language, it goes by “kayumanis”, which means “sweet wood”...because it comes from the inner bark of the Sri Lankan cinnamon tree. Strips of the inner bark are dried until they curl into rolls known as cinnamon sticks or quills. These can then be ground into powder or made into an extract. Combined with allspice, nutmeg and clove, cinnamon is the base for this grouping of flavors that represents all things fall. For generations, cinnamon has been prized for its health properties. Noodles are popular all over the world and range in shape from flat, to round, to twisted, to sheets, to tubes, and many more. They can be made from rice, buckwheat, wheat, with or without eggs and even now from zucchini. Noodles were invented in China in 2000 BC..when little bits of bread dough were thrown into a wok of boiling water. by the 1200's noodles become popular in Europe, especially Italy. Because of its convenience, instant ramen was initially 6 times as expensive as fresh noodles....but today At 13 cents per package, it would only cost about $140 a year to eat ramen noodles for every meal.

In 1687, Irish botanist Hans Sloane was appointed as a physician to the Duke of Albemarle in Jamaica. While in Jamaica, Sloane was introduced to Jamaican chocolate water. He found the drinks to be too bitter and added milk for taste. Because of his position, Sloane was allowed to bring the drink mixture back to Europe. The key lime pie gets its distinctive name from these small limes, naturalized in the Florida Keys. Lime juice can be substituted for regular lime juice in everything, from cocktails to condiments, on chicken, and fish/seafood, in marinades, sauces, and soups. Botanist, Jack Simons, is credited with inventing key lime pie; however, many other reports say that a ship salvager cook known as Aunt Sally created the first key lime pie in the early 1800's. These ships would have been the ideal place to find the non-perishable ingredients used in the earliest recipe: limes, eggs, and canned milk.

The difference is in the way the flesh comes away from the pit in the middle of the peach.
