Parc Central (English: Parc Central), also known as Tianhuan Plaza, is located on Tianhe Road, Tianhe District, Guangzhou, China. It is a large shopping mall park that integrates shopping, dining, entertainment, culture and leisure and other functions and reaches international standards. The total floor area is approximately 900,000 square feet. The developer is Sun Hung Kai Properties, and the British firm Benoy and Lu Yuanxiang Architects completed the architectural design, master planning and interior design; the Hong Kong Lui Yuanxiang Architects completed the executive design. The first Apple retail store in Guangzhou also opened here on January 28, 2016.
Tianhuan Land was formerly known as Hongcheng Plaza, which was completed in 1997. It is a large-scale commercial city with more than 200 shops. This area is also a popular boarding point for suburban floor buses and new property viewing buses. At that time, 65 real estate buses were parked in the Hongcheng parking lot, and many residents of suburban properties relied on the buses to travel to and from the city.
On May 13, 2009, the Guangzhou Land Development Center issued a notice clarifying that the commercial buildings in Hongcheng Plaza would expire on June 30 of the same year. The planning department would no longer conduct extension approval for temporary buildings, and the announcement was sent to Every stall in Hongcheng Plaza is posted on site. On May 15 of the same year, the Municipal Land Development Center handed over Hongcheng Plaza to the new owner, Guangzhou New Central Axis Construction Co., Ltd., as it is. A spokesman for the Guangzhou Municipal Construction Committee said that according to the requirements of the municipal government, Hongcheng Plaza will be planned to be a large citizen leisure square after demolition, and will serve as an important node to divert people at the Tianhe Sports Center during the 2010 Asian Games. On July 1 of the same year, Hongcheng Plaza was demolished, and all Loubus stations were relocated and transformed into a park.
In 2010, the Guangzhou Municipal Land Resources and Housing Administration decided to transfer the Hongcheng project land through agreement. In the same year, Sun Hung Kai Properties acquired 80% of the project's equity for 1 billion yuan and became the actual controller of the land. By 2012, it was clearly planned as a shopping mall. In July 2011, the area was fenced off. The government stated that the green park was a transitional product and the ultimate goal was to return it to the market. The government department had planned the site before the Asian Games. However, because the planning plan at that time was difficult to implement in time for the Asian Games, the area was temporarily transformed into a green square. After the Asian Games, the renovation plan was repeatedly submitted to the Guangzhou Urban Planning Committee for review. Experts from the planning committee proposed that the amount of above-ground construction should be reduced out of considerations such as the protection of the central axis landscape.
