虎頭山， 又名「旗山」，舊稱「虎嶼」，可眺望通霄外海的海潮波瀾，昔有「虎嶼觀潮」的美名，被視為通霄第一勝景。
Hutou Mountain, also known as "Qishan", formerly known as "Huyu" , can overlook the wave of ocean tide at the mountain. Formerly known as "Wattch Tide at Huyu Watch", it is regarded as the first scenic spot in Tongxiao.
通霄神社位於虎頭山山腰，創建於日治時代昭和12年，戰後變更為通霄忠烈祠。神社建築經過改造，成為具有日本神社與中國閩南建築的混合形式。
The Tongxiao Shrine is located on the mountainside of Hutou Mountain. It was founded in the 12th year of Showa era (1937) and was changed to Tongxiao Martyr's Shrine after the World War II. The shrine building has been transformed into a mixed form with Japanese shrines and Chinese Minnan buildings.
虎頭山的山頂有一座日俄戰爭紀念碑。根據導覽解說文， 1905年5月，虎頭山的日軍通信兵發現俄國艦隊通過台灣海峽，於是立即向上級通報。日艦與俄艦決戰於對馬海峽，俄國艦隊大敗。於是日本政府於大正年間，在虎頭山建造一座「日露戰役望樓紀念碑」以表彰虎頭山望樓（瞭望台）對於日俄戰爭的貢獻。
There is a Japanese-Russo War Memorial on the top of Hutou Mountain. According to the guide introduction, in May 1905, the Japanese military soldiers on Hutou Mountain discovered Russia warships passes the Taiwan Straitand, so immediately notified its superiors, which ultimately led to the defeat of the Russian warships. Later, the Japanese government built a Monument to the Watchtower of the Japanese-Russo Battle in Hutou Mountain to recognize the contribution of Hutou Mountain to the Japanese-Russo War.
不過歷史文獻顯示，當時俄國軍艦是經由台灣東部海域北上，並沒有通過台灣海峽，因此虎頭山的日俄戰爭紀念碑，應僅是展示戰爭勝利品，並表彰虎頭山的日軍望樓參與日俄戰爭的偵察任務而已。
However, historical documents show that the Russian warships heading northward through the eastern sea of Taiwan, did not pass the Taiwan Strait. The Japanese-Russo War Memorial in Hutou Mountain should only be displayed the victorious trophies of the war and the watchtower commemorating Hutou Mountain participated in the reconnaissance mission of the Japanese-Russo War.

搭乘火車造訪通霄神社及虎頭山，交通最便利。從通霄火車站下車，步行約500~600公尺即抵達通霄神社。可以從仁愛路的神社步道上山。如果開車前來，通霄神社附近路旁空地可以停車，虎頭山亦設有小型停車場，但空間有限。
Visiting Tongxiao Shrine and Hutou Mountain is by train is the most convenient transportation. Get off at Tongxiao Railway Station and walk about 500 ~ 600 meters to reach Tongxiao Shrine. You can go up the mountain from the Shrine trail of Renai Road.
If you come by car, you can park on the roadside open space near Tongxiao Shrine. Hutou Mountain also has a small parking lot, but space is limited.
