• Average House Price: Approximately £4,975 in 1970 to around £13,650 by 1980.
• Average Cost of a New Family Car: Roughly £1,600.
• Average Cost of Weekly Shop: Estimated around £5-£10 based on inflation and historical price changes.
• Average Household Income: Roughly £3,500 by the end of the 1970s.
1980s
• Average Salary: Grew from about £6,000 at the start of the decade to £13,000 by the end.
• Average House Price: Increased from about £20,000 in 1980 to £60,000 by 1990.
• Average Cost of a New Family Car: Approximately £5,500 in the mid-1980s.
• Average Cost of Weekly Shop: Estimated around £15-£30.
