C is the I chord (or root key) in this piece. Relative to the Ionian 'diatonic' tuning, it would be said that I have my harp “tuned in F” (with a flatted B, relative to C Major scale [a.k.a., modally speaking, Ionian mode in C]). So, in F, my harp is in Ionian mode (a.k.a. F Major [in common practice]). But I'm not playing in F; I'm playing in C (with a flatted 7th [the B], which makes it Mixolydian mode). Have I confused you yet? No worries. Just listen, and be calmed

[My comments on this piece]:
The original version of this was an improvisation that came out of nowhere at a gig about 15 years ago, which my friend Barb (who was there at EmmaJoes) said was beautiful, and I agreed. Some days later, I learned that whilst I played, and unbeknownst to us, our friend Debbie Coleman had died in hospital. And so, I named it 'Prayer for Deborah Grace' to honour my friend. Ever since, it has been one of my most meaningful pieces

After a 12 year absence from LibSyn, a 7 year absence from playing, and huge life changes, I've started playing again. I'm just playing for myself now as a kind of therapy, and my friends like it, so once again I've begun compiling albums and making CDs to give to friends. {CDs? What are those??} I remember how many people scattered so widely across the world enjoyed my music before, so I've decided to restart my podcast to share this 2nd time around. I'm playing a new harp now: my Dusty Strings Ravenna 34. I've only been playing again for for a few months (beginning this summer), but here it is. I'm so grateful to be playing again, after so long away
