In 1893, St. Ignatius was the first hospital to serve Whitman County. The first patient was a pneumonia case. In the first month, ten were admitted. Three were released, and seven remained. The first death was recorded in June 1893, when F.E. Martin, a railroad employee, was crushed between railroad cars. He is just one of the ghosts known to walk the halls. The hospital was sold in 1968, but the building stayed open until 2003 and housed developmentally disabled adults on the bottom floors. All that remains now are the spirits of the past.

In this episode, we learn about its haunted past and who still lives there today.

From the eerie Historic Fowler Theatre to the ominous Old Benton County Jail, ghostly sightings and unexplainable phenomena permeate the town's history.

Former Sheriff Alva Hartman's ghost is said to roam the premises, tied to the shootout that ended his life in the late 1800s. Andrew Jackson Caldwell began building this unique family home in 1847, but it wasn't completed until 1859. It isn’t your typical home with four exterior walls—this home has eight walls, making it octagon-shaped. During the Civil War, both the Confederate Army and the Union Army occupied the Hall at different times.

There are many stories of the ghosts that still haunt the building, from the Caldwell family, slaves, and Confederate and Union soldiers who have never left the property. It is also considered one of the most haunted buildings in the South.

In the heart of Rock Island, Illinois, an unassuming old building holds secrets of its storied past. Once known as the local YMCA, it’s now a furniture store. But beneath its facade is a place where the past and the paranormal collide.

For decades, this building served as a bustling hub for the community, offering solace and recreation to its inhabitants. Yet, as time passed, whispers of hauntings began to circulate, with tales of shadows lurking in the hallways and apparitions making their

Blair Murphy was working in LA as an independent filmmaker when a unique opportunity was presented to him. He and some friends wanted to find someplace to move to for about a year when they discovered a hotel on eBay for $11,000. It was the Grand Midway Hotel. Despite never stepping foot in the town of Windber, Pennsylvania, let alone stepping foot into the hotel, they purchased it.

The Grand Midway Hotel, though no longer operational as a hotel, is still inhabited by guests - numerous ghostly guests, including Martha, a young woman who met her untimely demise on the hotel's balcony while watching fireworks on the 4th of July. Legend has it that a rocket struck her neck, claiming her life instantly. Additionally, the hotel's bar was the site of an unsolved murder, human bones were discovered within its walls, and there is also the story of a child buried in the basement.

Adding to its mystique, the Grand Midway Hotel boasts two Guinness Book of World Records for the largest Ouija Board on its rooftop and the world’s largest Tarot Card painted on the ceiling. This is Part Two of our conversation.
