Following the 2023 NBA Draft, the Golden State Warriors signed Javon Johnson out of DePaul, adding him to the Warriors UDFA Tracker. Brandin Podziemski highlights and Trayce Jackson-Davis highlights were selected by the Golden State Warriors in the 2023 NBA Draft, so Javon Johnson highlights gets added to the Warriors draft picks list.
Javon Johnson Highlights:
Good athlete at 6’6” and 200 pounds, and shoots well from deep and coming off screens, which the Warriors like to do. Johnson isn’t ever going to be an aggressive scorer, or one who gets to the rim a lot, but he’s an adequate defender. Still, the Warriors are always looking for shooting, whether that player ends up on the Santa Cruz Warriors or perhaps opens some eyes in training camp and will compete for a two-way deal.

Effortless scorer who knows how to find his shot at all 3-levels.
Elite catch-and-shoot player.
Has soft touch around the rim, and has a killer teardrop shot.
Good handle. I’d like to see him become more of a playmaker but he is a score-first guy.
Really good rebounder for his size. Will it translate to the NBA? Unlikely, bit showcased the ability in the WCC.
Horrific defender to the point where he will get targeted almost every time down the court.
The defense is a major concern, because if you get targeted every play, can a team really play you down the stretch?

Trayce Jackson-Davis Scouting:
6’8”, 240 lbs, 7’1” wingspan
20.9 PPG, 10.8 RPG, 4.0 APG, 2.9 BPG, 58.1 FG%, 69.5 FT%
Productive player in college, who did everything for the Hoosiers.
Really good post footwork, and did most of his scoring with his back to the basket for Indiana.
Athletic big who can skywalk for putback slams or lob passes.
My concern is his size. Can a player who doesn’t have a jump shot contribute offensively at 6’8”
Is he a 4 or 5 in the NBA? His body size screams 4 but it would only work if the 5 can stretch the floor. He would be an undersized center.
Size being said, is a solid defender who rotates well to help on drives. Showed with nearly 3 blocks a game in the Big 10.
Good rebounder and showcases the second-jump to quickly go back up with an offensive board.
Needs to develop a consistent jumper to be anything more than a rotational big.
Doesn’t have a right hand whatsoever. COMP: Isaiah Stewart with no jumper
