The 2024 Toyota Crown Sport is a compact crossover with a hatchback silhouette and shape similar to the Lexus UX and NX. Not much is said about this variant, only stating that "Sport offers a sporty driving experience in an attractive atmosphere and an easy-to-drive package."
The Crown debuted in 1955 as Toyota's first mass-produced passenger car made with Toyota's proprietary technology. The DNA of "innovation and pushing the limits" that gave birth to the first in-house developed luxury car in the early post-war period has been passed down to Crowns since 1967, and has continued to pursue new value. We are one step ahead of the times and are loved by many customers. However, the times are changing even faster, and the Crown is no longer able to fully meet the diverse needs of its customers, and is losing its presence as a flagship.
In designing the new crown, the development team thoroughly reviewed what a "crown" is, and as a result of pursuing a "new age crown", four completely new models were created. In addition to the crossover type, which is a new style that combines a sedan and an SUV, it offers sporty driving, an attractive atmosphere, and an easy-to-use package. The sedan is a new formal design that caters to the driver's needs, while the Estate is a functional SUV with a grown-up feel and ample driving space. The new series will be launched in about 40 countries and regions.
The Crown adopts a newly developed chassis based on Toyota's GA-K platform and is about 4 inches taller than the Camry. This sedan's unique height makes it more visible on the road and easier to get in and out of. The flowing silhouette and sculpted body line create a fresh look unique to this class. Overall, the Crown Package is an innovative combination of style, performance and function.
The HYBRID MAX combines a 2.4-liter in-line four-cylinder turbocharged engine tuned for maximum torque between 2000 and 3000 rpm with a front electric motor that helps maximize torque production. Featuring a high-performance liquid-cooled electric motor, the rear axle is paired with a hybrid motor to deliver power directly to all four wheels, ensuring exciting throttle response and linear acceleration across the powerband.
The 4th generation Toyota Hybrid system in the Toyota Crown combines a highly efficient 2.5-liter DOHC 4-cylinder engine with two electric motors in a very compact system. The gas engine uses Electric Motor Variable Valve Timing Intelligent (VVT-iE) on the intake camshaft and VVT-i on the exhaust camshaft. A variable range of intake and exhaust valve timing is set to achieve both fuel efficiency and performance.
