撮影：2011年8月6日 青森ねぶた祭 東北三大祭りのひとつ。人形の灯籠のねぶたと太鼓や笛が奏でる"ねぶたばやし"、華やかな浴衣に身を包み、「ラッセラー」の掛け声と共に踊りはねる"ハネト"が一体になり、祭りを沸かす。祭りの由来は七夕様の灯籠流しの変形であろうと言われている。七夕まつりは七月七日の夜に、けがれを川や海に流す禊の行事だが、ねぶた祭も同様に七日目にはねぶた人形を川や海へ流す習わしがある。この行事が全国各地でいろいろと型を変え、その土地独自の祭になったわけで、それらの中でも日本海側にねぶた祭に似た祭りが多い。青森ねぶた祭の特色の一つに、はねとの大乱舞がある。昔はおどりこ（踊子）といった。いつの頃から〝はねと〟と呼ぶようになったかは定かでないが、青森ねぶたに踊りがついていたことは、安永年間の記録に残されている。この祭りが、現在のように大型化したのは戦後である。その歩みは、昭和３３年に旧国鉄が東北三大まつり指定したのが大きい。その後、東北の夏まつりの観光化という大きな流れに乗り、昭和55年には期間中に300万人の人出を記録し、年々巨大化して、国内有数の夏まつりとして全国に知られようになった。

The Aomori Nebuta festival is a Japanse summer festival where colorful paper lantern floats called Nebuta are pulled through the streets.
The festival attracts millions of visitors and is one of the three greatest festivals in Tohoku region alongside the Sendai Tanabata Festival and the Akita Kanto Festival. All three festivals are held in early August.
During the parade, over 20 large and intricately painted Nebuta floats are pulled through the streets. A Nebuta float can take almost a year in the making, they are hand painted with historical figures and lit up in a colourful display. The floats are paraded through the city during the evening from August 2nd -6th, and during the daytime on August 7th.
