The gunmen burst into the headquarters of the TC Televisión network in Ecuador’s largest city, Guayaquil. Ecuador's police were deployed to the station, eventually recapturing the building.
The storming of the station comes amid a spate of organised nationwide attacks by criminal groups across Ecuador. On Monday, the country’s new president, Daniel Noboa, declared a state of emergency after the escape of the country’s most dangerous gang leader.
