Motojo Town Toshogu Shrine and Hikima Castle Ruins. This is a shrine that was introduced in the taiga drama Dossuru Ieyasu. The lead actor, Jun Matsu, also comes to visit the shrine when he comes to Hamamatsu. Near Hamamatsu Castle are Motojocho Toshogu Shrine and Hikima Castle ruins. Motojocho Toshogu Shrine is not as famous as Nikko Toshogu or Kunozan Toshogu Shrine, so I think many people don't know about it. In addition, the remains of the Hikima Castle ruins remain as earthworks in Toshogu Shrine, Motojo Town. The kanji for Hikima Castle is sometimes used: Hikima. The name of Hikima still remains today as Hikima-cho, Naka-ku, Hamamatsu City. Hikima Castle is a castle that was captured by Lord Ieyasu when he attacked Hamamatsu. It is said that Lord Ieyasu lived in Hikima Castle when he first came to Totomi Hamamatsu. The current Honmaru of Hamamatsu Castle is said to have been expanded and built by Ieyasu. Motojocho Toshogu Shrine is a shrine dedicated to Ieyasu that was built during the Meiji period. The old shrine building was burnt down in an air raid, so it was rebuilt after the war. The site of Hikima Castle was used as a rice storehouse for Hamamatsu Castle during the Edo period, but after the castle was abolished, it became private property, and in the 1880s, Toshogu Shrine, dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, was established by Enryo Inoue, a former shogunate vassal. Ta. By the way, Toyotomi Hideyoshi is enshrined with Toshogu Shrine because he worked as a servant for the Matsushita clan in Totomi Hamamatsu for three years during the era of Hikima Castle, the predecessor of Hamamatsu Castle, before becoming Nobunaga's retainer. At that time, Hideyoshi was called Monkey. He was often referred to as a monkey in taiga dramas. It seems that the monkey's nickname was true. lol. This is the reason why Hideyoshi is also enshrined at Toshogu Shrine. For reference, Kunozan Toshogu Shrine in Shizuoka, a national treasure, is said to be enshrined by three people, Nobunaga Ieyasu and Hideyoshi. Now, the final episode of the taiga drama Ieyasu will be on December 17th. On a personal note, going to see Matsujun Ieyasu's May 5th Hamamatsu Festival Cavalry Warrior Procession was one of the best memories of my life. Even now, Matsujun does not hold cavalry warrior parades outside of Hamamatsu. Even after Ieyasu is done, I plan to release videos related to Ieyasu for a while. The last train in the video is Enshu Railway 2001F Ieyasu-kun, taken on May 5th.
