‘The Blair Witch Project’ was a pop-culture phenomenon back in 1999: The viral marketing campaign, huge box office success, and mystery around how “true” its story actually was all caused such a stir that the buzz overshadowed, for some, what was a genuinely terrifying moviegoing experience.
