Mohamed Salah has disclosed a softer side in his approach to nurturing Liverpool's young talents, emphasizing the importance of their mental mindset for progress. The 31-year-old aims to continue his recovery from a hamstring injury in the match against Sparta Prague before the crucial FA Cup tie against Manchester United on Sunday. He has closely followed the emergence of Liverpool's talented youngsters and has become one of their biggest supporters and mentors.
"The key is to communicate with them and demonstrate genuine care before offering advice," said the Liverpool striker. "If you merely give advice without showing genuine concern, they may not listen. But if you genuinely care about them and encourage them that they can achieve great things with just a small adjustment, then it can work."
Salah, who admits to being a chess enthusiast and often strategizes against defenses, stressed the importance of mental resilience, something he wishes he had focused on more at 18. He finds mental training more challenging than physical workouts and dedicates 15 minutes daily to mental exercises.
"It's about visualizing your goals before they happen. Ninety percent of my goals or even more are a result of that," Salah added.
In a conversation with the Men In Blazers podcast, Salah highlighted the hunger within the current squad as a driving force behind Liverpool's quest for a quadruple trophy haul this season.
"The players are very hungry, and we have a good chance to win everything. We just need to give it a proper try because we have nothing to lose, just give it a try," Salah said. "I love the whole squad. The players are really dedicated to their football, they aspire to achieve big things, and they ask a lot of questions. I love it when they ask questions because it shows they genuinely want to learn, and that's crucial for me."
