    1 Corinthians | Introduction Wk 2 | Joe Donaldson

Paul’s first letter to the church in Corinth was written between 53-55 A.D. At that time, the City of Corinth was the capital of the Roman province of Achaia (modern day south-central Greece). It’s geographical and geopolitical positioning made it a favorable stop for trade. Thus, the people of Corinth were no strangers to wealth, prestige, and power.

During his second missionary journey (Acts 18), Paul founded the church of Corinth. He spent about eighteen months there teaching them the Gospel of Jesus Christ and how they should live in light of the Good News. Paul eventually moved on but made it a habit to write letters to and revisit the churches he had planted.

Parables of Jesus Session 10: The Wise and Foolish Builders | Joe Donaldson

The foundation of a home determines its ability to endure the test of time. Jesus taught that our lives are the same way. In his parable of the wise and foolish builders we see how easily one’s life can be built on unstable ground. When the storms of life come, and they always do, it’s only the house on a firm foundation that will stand.

Parables of Jesus Session 9: The Unforgiving Servant | Joe Donaldson

When we mess up, we are quick to receive forgiveness. When someone offends or hurts us, our tendency is to force them to earn our forgiveness. Jesus’ parable of the unforgiving servant challenges human nature. We’ll see that receiving the grace of God requires us to restore others who’ve wronged us.

Parables of Jesus Session 8: The Workers in the Vineyard | Joe Donaldson

In the professional world, you typically get paid based on your production and value to a company. It may stand to reason then, that a renowned evangelist would deserve a greater portion of Heaven than someone who came to faith on their deathbed. This week’s parable challenges our thinking by teaching the radical economics of the Kingdom of God.

Parables of Jesus Session 7 Part 2 : The Prodigal Son | Joe Donaldson

Whether you grew up in the church or spent most of your life apart from Jesus, we are all equally dependent on the gracious love of God. Jesus tells a parable of a father and his two sons. One rebels and squanders his life while the other stays at home working for his father. As we mine the depths of arguably Jesus’ most famous parable, we’ll see the heart of the Father and the various struggles we face as sons.

Parables of Jesus Session 6 : The Good Samaritan | Joe Donaldson

It’s easy to love people who share your beliefs, make your life easier, and are a joy to be around. But what about people who don’t fit this description? How do we love people who hold different religious positions, are impossible to please, or have nothing to offer you? How should we interact with them, if at all? The parable of the Good Samaritan decisively answers that question.

Parables of Jesus Session 5 : The Talents | Joe Donaldson

As we eagerly wait for Jesus’s return, He expects our lives to be marked by Gospel urgency and wise stewardship. This week’s parable pictures three servants who are entrusted with different amounts of resources. As we’ll see, what we do with what’s been given to us matters greatly to the Lord.

Parables of Jesus Session 4 : The Pharisee and the Publican | Joe Donaldson

Prayer is one of the simplest spiritual disciplines for us to practice, yet at the same time one of the most difficult. Jesus used a parable of two men to show the right posture for approaching God. It wasn’t the religious elite who knew all the right things to say, but the humble sinner who knew the judgement he deserved.

Parables of Jesus Session 4: Salt & Light | Sam Reader

As followers of Jesus, it can be difficult to discern what role we are meant to play in society, politics, and the like. The parable of salt and light provides great insight here. Like salt, we are called to preserve and enhance life around us. As light, we are to dispel darkness and reflect the beauty of Christ to the world around us.

Materialism is an idol that plagues the Western church today. Thankfully Jesus told a parable about a rich man with lofty goals to accumulate wealth. The foolish man primarily focused on himself and was neglectful towards God. Jesus reveals to us the folly in such an approach to life and God.

Parables of Jesus Session 1: The Sower | Joe Donaldson

As Christians we know we are supposed to read the Bible. It claims to be living and active, but sometimes our experience with the Word doesn’t fit that description. Jesus’s teaching on the Sower provides a spiritual lens through which we can better understand all of this. His explicit interpretation of the parable provides us a good launching point for our next series.

Fruit of the Vine Session 6: Gentle & Self-Controlled | Joe Donaldson

In this final scene we witness the brutal execution of Jesus. He’s beaten, mocked, nailed to a cross, and left to die. Incredibly, he met repeated insults with gentle blessings. Enduring tremendous pain in every form, he remained under controlled. Here in the darkest moment of all of history we see the gentle Lamb of God bearing the sins of the world.

Just as predicted, Peter denies his relationship to Jesus three times. The next scene Mark provides is Jesus with the Roman Governor Pilate. Unlike Peter, He faithfully acknowledges his identity and embraces the death sentence it carries. In a moment that many would plead the fifth, Jesus stands resolute as the faithful lamb of God.

Leading an armed crowd, Judas approaches Jesus and greets him with a kiss. Chaos ensues as Jesus is forcibly arrested and Peter cuts off a man’s ear. After dinner Jesus and the twelve go to the Garden of Gethsemane to pray. In a moment when Jesus needed encouragement and support, his friends repeatedly fall asleep on him. Instead of revoking their disciple cards, he calls them to persist in prayer and continue with him. Firm and consistent, we see Jesus model a patience with his men that we should take note of.

Fully aware that his death was imminent, Jesus took time to rest and connect in the home of Simon the leper. A woman came and anointed him with expensive perfume—an act that seemed crazy to onlookers, but beautiful to the eyes of Jesus. We begin our study of the fruit by looking at the selfless, compassionate love Jesus had for other people.

Acts chapter 10 details a vision that God gave Peter showing the boundary between Jews and Gentiles was coming to an end. Promptly he traveled to the home of a Roman centurion named Cornelius. After hearing the Good News of Jesus, Cornelius, his family, and closest friends were all filled with the Holy Spirit. The week we’ll unpack how wrecking the roof sometimes means tearing down dividing walls.

Wreck the Roof Session 1: Watch for Opportunities

Without being told why, Philip obeyed the command of the LORD to travel south towards Gaza. Along the way, he encountered an Ethiopian eunuch reading from the book of Isaiah. Church history tells us that this brief meeting is likely what started the Christian movement in Africa. This week we will learn how to identify and lean into the people around us who need help getting to Jesus.

Combat Manual Session 13: Thankful for One Another
Paul closes this letter out by greeting those who were closest to him. He had developed close and lasting friendships that helped to sustain him in his walk with the Lord. His final words leave his friends with love and encouragement. This week we reflect on the eternal impact of Christian community.

Combat Manual Session 12: Trust in the Lord

Not only is Paul in prison, but he has also been abandoned by some of his friends. This could be a point of discouragement for Timothy, but once again Paul writes to Timothy to remind him that despite his circumstances, the Lord has rescued and strengthened him. This week we mediate on what it means to trust in the Lord.

    Notes on the recording:
Today's format is slightly different due to a change in venue. You will have (2) one minute sections during the teaching for Discussion Questions, then (1) additional question at the end of the teaching.

Also note, due to technical difficulties, the audio quality drops from 39:40 to 40:20 (40 sec).

    Thu, 10 Nov 2022 17:50:59 GMT
Combat Manual Session 11: Preach the Word

Paul knows his time is ending and he is leaving Timothy with a charge to go and preach the word. Paul knows that Timothy is up against false teachers, lovers of self, and opposition, so he challenges Timothy to be ready in every season of life. Paul ran his race to the very end, staying true to sound doctrine no matter the hardships. This week we see that keeping the faith in spite of trials, strengthens us to preach the word.

    Thu, 03 Nov 2022 17:12:37 GMT
Combat Manual Session 10: Standing on the Word

On the heels of outlining the way of the world, Paul again challenges Timothy to live a life set apart. Timothy had learned the scriptures from an early age and had witnessed great things doing ministry with Paul. He knew the way of the cross is one marked by suffering and future glory, but needed to be encouraged to endure. This week we recognize that the Word of God is the firm foundation we need to stand on in a world hostile to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

    Thu, 27 Oct 2022 20:07:39 GMT
Combat Manual Session 9: Men of the Flesh

After describing to Timothy how men of the Word live, Paul goes on to detail how men without the Word approach life. They are “lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive” and more. He warns Timothy that this style of living will become more and more prevalent, but that Truth will win out in the end. This week we take note of the example of living to avoid as we are led by the Spirit of Truth. (John 14:17)

    Thu, 20 Oct 2022 15:03:17 GMT
Combat Manual Session 8: Men of the Word

Paul encouraged Timothy to run away from temptations and to run towards righteousness. To flee and pursue. Timothy is also instructed to be kind and gentle to those who oppose him, so that the Lord may grant them repentance leading them to salvation. This week we dig deeper into what it looks like to be men of the word.

    Thu, 13 Oct 2022 14:09:02 GMT
Combat Manual Session 7: A Worker of the Word

Paul urges Timothy not to argue over unimportant, foolish things. He warns that such disagreements can cause confusion, division, and spiritual harm. He challenges Timothy to rightly handle the word of truth as an approved worker for God. This week we will discuss how we too can be useful vessels for God.

    Session 17: Hearing, Speaking, Doing

Bob Russell teaches on Jesus' finals words of the Sermon on the Mount.

    Thu, 20 May 2021 19:08:18 GMT
Session 16: Narrow & True; Wide & False

Again, Jesus simplified the complexities of life by inviting His listeners to pursue one of two options: the narrow or the wide way. Going further, Jesus spoke directly to our culture, which attempts to blur the lines of truth, by declaring that we may discern what is true and what isn’t by examining fruit. This week, we see Jesus confront the ever-present “middle way” by revealing that neutrality is nothing more than veiled compromise, but that there is a truly better way.

    Thu, 13 May 2021 15:26:18 GMT
Session 15: Judge Not; Ask, Seek, Knock

Jesus’ sermon moved from a focus on self to a focus on relationship with others—condemning judgment and hypocrisy, but elevating the responsibility of brotherhood. Moreover, He emphasized the wonders of being in relationship with God, saying all one must do is ask, seek, or knock, for the Father gives good gifts. Only Jesus can help us do to others what we would have them do to us.

Inside Out Session 14: Who Has Your Heart

    Matthew 6:19-34

Jesus spent this part of His message confronting fence-sitters, painting in black and white. Our hearts are fixed either on treasure in heaven or treasure on earth, on light or darkness, on God’s Kingdom or our own. Jesus is clear, “No one can serve two masters” (Matt 5:24). Jesus addressed the focus of our heart because it determines what we live for. What are you living for? Have you found a purpose that satisfies or is insatiable? This week we will look at our own hearts to discover what we are truly living for.

    Fri, 23 Apr 2021 13:38:19 GMT
Inside Out Session 13: The Lord's Prayer

    Matthew 6:7-18

Jesus had already taught that we should pray, and He continued by teaching us how to pray. In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus gives us a model to help shape our hearts and deepen our affections for God. He followed it with the command of fasting. Neither of these are tasks for the religious elite, but acts of obedience that flow out of a love for God that help us know Him.

    Thu, 15 Apr 2021 15:00:52 GMT
Upside Down Session 12: Heart Condition

    Matthew 6:1-6
Jesus taught on two of the most practical spiritual disciplines — giving and prayer. He commanded these external acts from His followers, but He was clear that the true internal motive behind them will also be known by God. Jesus’ focus was not external behavior modification, but internal heart transformation.

    Thu, 08 Apr 2021 17:32:50 GMT
Upside Down Session 11: Love Your Enemies

In this section of Jesus’ sermon, His followers were met with arguably the most challenging call of the Christian life. He commanded them to withhold retaliation from and even go the extra mile for those who wrong them. He also commanded them to love and pray for their enemies. Only someone who has done this has the authority to require it of others. This week, we look at Jesus, who loved us while we were at enmity with Him, and learn to do the same to others.

    Thu, 25 Mar 2021 16:03:15 GMT
    Upside Down Session 10: Faithfulness

Jesus continued the Sermon on the Mount by correcting a misunderstanding by the religious people regarding what the Bible states about divorce and taking oaths. The sinful nature of the human heart had corrupted the Law of God. Jesus did not abandon the Law that God had commanded, but led people back to the original purpose of it. In a world where faithfulness is rare, we are going to study the words of the God who remains faithful.

    Thu, 18 Mar 2021 16:59:23 GMT
Upside Down Session 9: Anger & Lust

Drawing from the sixth and seventh commandments, Jesus covered the topics of murder and adultery in sequential fashion. He showed that the evil thought that provokes evil action is equally deserving of punishment. This week we will be challenged to face our own inner thoughts and desires in light of a holy God.

    Thu, 11 Mar 2021 19:14:29 GMT
Upside Down: Session 8: Christ & The Law

Contrary to most western ideologies, Jesus did not denounce the Law of the Old Testament. Instead He raised the bar by saying that His followers’ “righteousness” must exceed that of the religious elites of their day. This week we will define what righteousness is, how it is achieved, and discover the relationship between the Old and New Testaments—the Law and the Gospel.

    Fri, 05 Mar 2021 14:43:10 GMT
Sermon on the Mount: Salt and Light

By using the imagery of salt and light, Jesus teaches that stopping the spread of evil and promoting the spread of truth is the twofold role of the Christian. These roles are built on two fundamental realities. First, that the fall of man has left the world in a constant state of both physical and spiritual decay. Second, the only hope of piercing this present darkness is Jesus, the light of the world (John 8:12).

Unleashed - From Unqualified to Unleashed - Acts 4:1-14

(Sam Reader & Kyle Idleman) - We live in a world that hinges on prerequisites. Schools, jobs, committees,
and promotions all become accessible with the right set of qualifications. Yet, Christianity turns this cultural norm on its head in prioritizing and utilizing the poor, marginalized, and unqualified to do eternal work. This week, we’ll look at Jesus’ ability to do astonishing things with the unschooled and ordinary man who knows and loves Him.

    Thu, 11 Feb 2021 15:21:22 GMT
Unleashed: From Hidden to Exposed - Acts 19:11-20

In this bizarre passage, we see people who were trying to manipulate Jesus and His power, but their plan backfired. They discovered that Jesus doesn't conform to their will, but rather that they should conform to His. They confessed their involvement in evil spiritual practicers and literally burned any ties that they had to their old sinful patterns. This week, we're going to focus on the authority of Jesus and how it should prompt us to dramatically reorder our lives around Him.

    Tue, 02 Feb 2021 13:00:00 GMT
Unleashed - From Greedy to Generous - Acts 4:32-37

In this week's passage, we meet Barnabas, who relies on the Holy Spirit and is unleashed to be extraordinarily generous. His generous act of selling a field and donating the money to the ministry of the apostles is contrasted with the greed of a man named Ananias and his wife, Sapphira, who sold a field and kept the money for themselves. This passage shows us that we can choose between greed and generosity, and that we need to rely upon the Holy Spirit in order to make the right choice.

    Unleashed - Paul - Acts 22:1-22

(Mason Bramer, Chris Burke, Sam Reader) After being beaten and incarcerated in the city he loved, Paul was given an opportunity to speak to the ardent Jews who were hoping to kill him. His defense was his testimony. Paul looked into the eyes of a violent mob, resonated deeply with their religious zeal, and told them of Jesus, who forgave his sins and commissioned him to take the good news of grace to the world. This week we’ll study the story of a man who left his religious striving to live a life fueled by the love of God.

    Mon, 18 Jan 2021 03:30:16 GMT
    Unleashed - Peter - Acts 2:14-41

(Mason Bramer, Chris Burke, Sam Reader) Weeks after denying any relationship with Jesus, the Apostle Peter made a public declaration to his fellow Israelites that Jesus is the risen Messiah. From an unschooled fisherman who became one of the most prominent members of the early Church, we get to see the redemptive and transformative power of the Holy Spirit in the life of Peter. This week we will celebrate that the same power and Spirit are at work within God’s people today.

    All Who Believe

    John 17:20-26

(Ronnie Cordrey, Tom Harper, Chris Burke)

Jesus concludes His prayer by praying for anyone who believes in Him. So, if you are a Christian, these verses are the written words of Jesus’ prayer for you. Let that sink in. In His prayer for you and all other believers in history, Jesus prays that believers would be united, because our unity will reveal Him to the world. He also prays about the Father’s love and glory being given to believers as we continue to know Him.

    Protect & Sanctify

    John 17:9-19

    (Ronnie Cordrey, Robin Schumacher)

Continuing in His prayer, Jesus speaks to His Father about the disciples who were with Him during His earthly ministry. Jesus prayed that God would protect and keep them during their time in the world, fulfilling them with His joy. Furthermore, Jesus prayed that God would “sanctify” the disciples as He sent them into the world. This week, we’ll learn from Jesus’ prayer for His friends as He sent them to take truth into the world.

    The Hour Has Come

    John 17:1-8

(Mason Bramer, Sam Reader, Joe Donaldson)

“The hour has come” for Jesus’ atoning death and resurrection. So, He runs to His Father in prayer, in which He prays for Himself, His disciples, and future believers. This week we’ll look at Jesus’ prayer regarding Himself, which could leave us as readers thinking Jesus as a bit conceited or even a megalomaniac. Yet, we find that His prayer is in preparation of immense sacrifice for others, His yearning for glory is to the glory of the Father, and His wielding of authority is to bring eternal life to the world.

In the World & In Christ

    John 16:25-33

(Mason Bramer, Chris Burke, Tony Weedor)

Jesus continues his final discourse with His disciples before He leaves the world to go to the Father promising both strife and peace. Again, He prioritizes prayer in His name, and brings clarity to the disciples and us by speaking about the Father’s love, the trouble that comes with living “in this world,” and the hope Jesus offers to those who are “in Him.”

    Sorrow to Joy

    John 16:16-24

(Mason Bramer, Chris Burke, Tony Weedor)

Still teaching his disciples, Jesus speaks figuratively about His ensuing death and resurrection. In doing so, He makes them aware of the grief they will face, but the inevitability of that grief being turned to lasting and full joy. The same way birth is a painful process that ends in great joy, Jesus’ atoning death is excruciating for both Him and His followers. Nevertheless, unshakeable joy dawns with His resurrection.

    The Spirit is Coming

    John 16:1-15

(Mason Bramer, Chris Burke, Tony Weedor)

Jesus has just let His disciples know that hard times are ahead for both Himself and His followers. Now, He reminds those with Him that He’s departing from them to return to the Father (after his death and resurrection). Yet, rather than being filled with sorrow, Jesus promises that it will be better for them that He go, because then the Holy Spirit will come. This week, we’ll study who the Holy Spirit is, and why Jesus sent Him!

    Faithfulness

    Joh 15:18-27

(Senior Pastor, Kyle Idleman & Men's Ministry Leader, Ronnie Cordrey)

Jesus helps his disciples - and all Christians today - come to terms with the reality of what following Him will incur. Jesus says, “A servant is no greater than his master.” Meaning, Christ-followers will experience the hostility from others that Jesus did, as well as the meaningful life-change in others that Jesus did. Moreover, Christians will have the Holy Spirit to guide them into each and every task.

    Friendship & Fruit

John 15:14-17 (Ronnie Cordrey, Sam Reader, Chris Burke)

Last week we learned that we are to love others the same way Jesus perfectly loved us: selflessly, humbly, entirely. In the verses studied this week, Jesus continues by identifying the purpose for this unselfish love. Namely, “to bear fruit.” So, as Jesus concludes His vineyard metaphor, we will see this week the calling to be a friend of God, and discuss the “fruit” that it bears.

    Love & Joy

John 15:9-13 (Ronnie Cordrey, Sam Reader, Chris Burke)

Jesus moves out of the realm of metaphor and brings to the forefront His perfect love for us. Again, Jesus uses few words to portray the weighty realities of His commitment to us evidenced by His sacrifice for us, our love for Him expressed in our obedience to Him, and His eternal, unshakeable joy becoming our own everlasting joy. This week we’ll look at what it means to know, love, and trust Jesus, as well as how to love others like Him.

    Abide in the Vine

John 15:5-8 (Mason Bramer, Sam Reader, Chris Burke)

Jesus reiterates much of what was discussed in last week’s passage, but these verses highlight the realities of judgment, prayer, identity, and glory. This week we’ll look with a practical lens at what it means to abide in Christ, and for Christ to abide in you.

The True Vine, The Gardener, And The Branches

John 15:1-4 (Mason Bramer, Sam Reader, Chris Burke)

While speaking to His disciples, Jesus uses a metaphor to help them understand who He is (the True Vine), who His Father is (the Gardener), and who we are in relation to them (the branches). While simple, Jesus’ words here are also profound, as they give purpose to humanity, meaning to suffering, and clarity to who Jesus claims to be.

Galatians: Week 4 - Spirit Led Community

Galatians 6:1-10 (Mason Bramer & Sam Reader)

As Paul concludes his writing to the churches in Galatia, we see God’s will for the people of God to bear one another’s burdens. Yet, this is more than a platitude. God exhorts His people to do good together, as well as to do good for one another. This week, we will learn about both what and who God has called us to!

Galatians : Week 3 - Flesh vs. Spirit

Galatians 5:16-25 (Kurt Sauder & Chad Russell)

After declaring that we are sons of God, Paul goes on to write about the freedom in which Christians are able to live. While some are tempted to return from their liberty into bondage, and others are tempted to turn their liberty into license, the Bible is clear that we fight these temptations by walking with the Holy Spirit. This passage reveals the conflict between our flesh and the Spirit, and reveals the way to victory.

Galatians: Week 1 - By Faith Alone

    Galatians 2:15-21 (Ben Cross)

After reminding the Galatians of his authority as an Apostle, Paul dives right into the issue at hand. In Galatia, there were leaders claiming that to be a Christian, one must add to their faith in Christ specific religious adherence to the Law.  Their equation was "Jesus + works = earning God's love."  Paul corrects this view, reminding them that we are justified by faith in Christ.

    Mark 15:21-39 (Mark Scott)

Finally, it seems the story of Jesus of Nazareth has come to an end, as He is crucified by the Romans outside of Jerusalem. The details of His last moments reveal the excruciating agony and abandonment He endured. Yet, a torn curtain in the Temple and a proclamation by a Roman soldier that surely Jesus was the Son of God uncover that this supposed ending is truly only the beginning.

Humility, unity, love and other calls make clear Peter’s intent: to help us look at Jesus, and look like Him. In his letter to those suffering for their faith in Christ, Peter shifts to practical ways that they ought to live in the contexts of their relationship with government, those whom they serve, and their spouses. Yet, all of this pragmatic guidance comes through the example of the Suffering Servant, Jesus Christ, who suffered for and served others to God’s glory.

One of Jesus’ closest friends during his earthly ministry was a man He called Peter. Decades after his time spent alongside the Lord, Peter penned a letter to a group of “exiles” who are far from the geographical foundation of the Church. These exiles were not only far from home, so to speak, but experiencing immense suffering. Yet, Peter reminds them of the living hope they have in Jesus Christ.

Psalm 107 (Mason Bramer, Chris Burke, Sam Reader)

1 Thessalonians 5:18 commands believers in Christ to give thanks to God in all circumstances. Yet, both our dispositions and our situations can often lead us away from practicing thanksgiving. In Psalm 107, the writer recounts four stories of redemption, thanks the Lord for His deliverance, and reminds the reader of God’s sovereign love for the humble and lowly.

In 2 Samuel 11-12, King David commits a pile of atrocious sins (adultery, murder, etc.). After being confronted by Nathan, David turns from his entitled and malicious sin-spiral to broken and contrite repentance. Psalm 51 is David’s prayer penitence, and serves well as a model for all who experience the guilt of shame, and seek to be forgiven and restored by the Lord.

    Psalms: Week 2 - Psalm 23

Psalm 23 (Mason Bramer, Chris Burke, Sam Reader)

In this Psalm, we find David, amidst unnerving and threatening circumstances, in a state of unshakeable serenity. In his prayer, David employs two metaphors to help us understand and rest in who the Lord is: God as Shepherd and God as Host. In a time of frenetic news cycles, the disruption of regularity, and the unveiled reality of our empty idols, we as believers are wise to seek respite in praying Psalm 23. For, it is here David helpfully reminds our hearts of the peace of God that can only be found in trusting the God of peace.

Psalm 1 (Mason Bramer, Chris Burke, Sam Reader)

The first chapter of the Book of Psalms stands as a gatekeeper to the rest of what Dietrich Bonhoeffer called the “prayer-book of the Bible,” where we are able to learn 1) Who God is 2) Who we are 3) How to interact with him in relationship. The writer of Psalm 1 quickly cuts to the chase, declaring that every man will walk one of two paths. The first is the way of truth that leads to life. The other is a path that ends in death and destruction. Which will you take?

Paul is writing from prison to his friends in a city where he was beaten publicly, yet he still has the robust confidence to rejoice. Philippians 3:1-11 (Ben Cross)

In Paul’s old social sphere, he had it all: power, influence, and notoriety. He was gifted, diligent, and downright impressive. Yet, after encountering Christ, Paul counted all these gains “as loss for the sake of Christ.” We look to this text to discover what that means, and why it’s worth imitating.
