The main industry is the woolen sweater industry, and it was once awarded the title of "China's Famous Woolen Sweater Town" by the China Textile Industry Association. Ranked 29th among the top 100 towns in China in 2019. The town people's government is located at No. 1, Meijing Middle Road.
The town has convenient transportation, with Guangzhou-Shenzhen Expressway and Changhu Expressway (renamed Hugang Expressway in 2009) crossing the border. There is a "motorcycle prohibited area" in the central area of the town, which is accessible all day long to reduce traffic pressure in the central area.
