In a virtual news conference, Dr. Howard Njoo, Canada’s deputy chief public health officer, provides an update on Canada's distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. He is joined by Major-General Dany Fortin, the vice-president of logistics and operations at the Public Health Agency of Canada and head of the country's vaccine distribution efforts. Major-General Fortin announces that 300,000 doses of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine will arrive in Canada in the coming days through the global vaccine sharing initiative known as COVAX. Canada is scheduled to receive a total of 1.9 million doses of that vaccine from COVAX by the end of June. He also confirms that the 1.5 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine loaned by the United States were delivered earlier this week and that they are now ready to be administered.
