The sentence "A big belly can tolerate things that are difficult to tolerate in the world; smile when you open your mouth and laugh at the ridiculous people in the world" is a true portrayal of Budai Monk.
The play is adapted from many folk tales and myths about Budai Monk. It tells the legendary story of Budai Monk who eliminates violence, helps the weak, and persuades people to do good.
