[潭腰地名的由來] 清代嘉慶晚期（1810年代），泉州人楊海至此地開墾。北勢溪的溪水流至此地，形成長潭，兩岸凹入潭水，有如腰身，所以人們稱此地為「潭腰」。翡翠水庫興建之後，潭腰形成鱷魚島及千島湖的奇景。
[Origin of Tanyao Place Name ~ In the late Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty (1810s), Yanghai, a native of Quanzhou, reclaimed the land here. The flow of Beishi River to here and forms a long lake, and the two sides of the bank are stretch into the lake, like a waist, so people call this place "Tanyao" (Lake Waist). After the construction of the Feicui Reservoir, the fascinating scenery of Crocodile Island and Qiandao Lake was formed in Tanyao area.

★自行開車: Google地圖衛星導航輸入「潭腰」，行駛至潭腰道路終點，潭腰福德宮附近道路旁有空地可以停車。
★ Mass Transit: No direct bus. From the MRT Xindian Station, take the Green 12 bus to Xiaogetou Stop, walk the Zhukeng Road, and then walk the Tanyao, it's about 3 kilometers to reach the Tanyao Fude Temple.
★ Driving by yourself: Google Maps satellite navigation input "Tanyao", drive to the end of Tanyao Road, there is an open space for parking at the roadside near the Tanyao Fude Temple.
